I've got a great short film for you to check out called After Thought. It's a surreal science fiction film "about a man who finds himself in extraordinary circumstances after receiving a bill for his own funeral." The short was directed by Val Keller, and it's basically a teaser for a feature length project the director is looking to develop. Check it out for yourself. I think some of you will like it.

Here are five Star Wars-themed gowns that were shown last week during New York Fashion Week. They come from Rodarte by Kate and Laura Mulleavy. The five sci-fi dresses served as the finale to the show. When talking about the dress designs, Kate Mulleavy told the Los Angeles Times,

"We couldn’t have done a collection like this and not included ‘Star Wars’. Those films represent for us a time when anything was possible."

The full collection was inspired by memories of the way the designers dressed as children in the early '80s, so these fit in perfectly.

Here's a set of posters for this year's Best Picture nominees reimagined with Pixar characters. The mashup posters come from Todd Spence of Break.com, and they are pretty funny.

LeBron James to Star in SPACE JAM 2

After 18 years Space Jam is actually going to get a sequel. This time around it will star NBA superstar LaBron James. Space Jam was released in 1996 and it starred Michael Jordan and a few other NBA players such as Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Danny Ainge, Tyron “Muggsy” Bogues, Vlade Divac, Cedric Ceballos, Larry Johnson, Shawn Bradley and Paul West acting along side Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang.

The first Space Jam movie made over $230 million, and I'm surprised they didn't make a sequel sooner. Space Jam was kind of a terrible film, but I can't deny that it was a ton of fun to watch. Like several others, I was a huge fan of basketball and the Looney Tunes growing up so of course it was exciting to see these two worlds collide.

The movie is being developed by Charlie Ebersol, and his brother Willie Ebersol who is writing the script. This will be the first script that he's written, so maybe we shouldn't expect much from him. But the script for the first film wasn't all that great either.

Regardless of the script the movie is sure to be a big success for Warner Bros. The sport of basketball is bigger than ever, and there's still a huge fan base for those classic lovable cartoon characters.

Eli Roth to Direct Horror Thriller KNOCK KNOCK

Hostel director Eli Roth has chosen the next film project that he's going to direct. It's called Knock Knock and it will come from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo, who also worked on the film Aftershock which Roth produced.

According to The Wrap, the story follows two young girls who show up unexpectedly at the home of a married man where they seduce him and wreak havoc on his perfect life.

It definitely sounds like a film project that Roth would take on. He enjoys torturing people in the movies he makes. The filmmaker recently finished his cannibalistic horror movie The Green Inferno, and there was a six year gap that and the last movie he directed Hostel II. I imagine he doesn't want to take a long of a break again in-between films.

NBC is Bringing Back HEROES as a Miniseries

I know we're late to the game on this news, but I got to it as soon as I could. Just in case you didn't already hear, NBC is bringing back their Superhero series Heroes as a 13-episode miniseries event called Heroes Reborn.

Creator Tim Kring is back to develop the series, and it's set to premiere in 2015. NBC teased the miniseries with a brief TV sport during its the Winter Olympics coverage Saturday. They also plan to roll out a digital tie-in ahead of it's premiere. The plot for Heroes Reborn is being kept under wraps.

NBC Entertainment  President Jennifer Salke had this to say in a statement:

“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

I'm sure they could get the entire cast involved with it again if they wanted to. The first season of Heroes was pretty amazing, but after that it just progressively got worse. Hopefully they are able to bring back that magic that the first season had. Who know maybe what they have planned will be even better.

Spawn is easily one of my favorite comic book characters of all time. I really hope that we finally get that movie that Todd McFarlane has slowly been developing. It would be ridiculous if it never happened, especially since Jaimie Foxx wants to star in it. While we wait on another update on that potential movie, here's a great piece of Spawn fan art for you to check out created by Poopbird.

Steven Soderbergh may be done directing movies, but he's not finished creating awesome entertainment for TV. This is the teaser trailer for a new series he developed for Cinemax called The Knick.

The series stars Clive Owen and is set in downtown New York in 1900. It centers on Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses, and staff who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.

This will be a ten-episode season, and it definitely looks like a series I'll enjoy watching.

Funny Trailer for Mike Judge's HBO Comedy SILICON VALLEY

HBO released the full trailer for Mike Judge's new comedy series Silicon Valley, which looks pretty freakin' hilarious. Over the years Judge has developed TV shows such as Beavis & Butthead and King of the Hill, as well as the classic film Office Space. The series is also based based in part on Judge's own experience as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late '80s.

The show centers on a character named Richard (Thomas Middleditch), an introverted computer programmer who manages to entice a bidding war over his search algorithm. The show is described as being "rather merciless in its focus on Silicon Valley and all it entails, both in reality and in stereotype."

The series is a half-hour show that will have eight-episodes in its first season, and it also stars Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, Amanda Crew, Zack Woods, Matt Ross, T.J Miller, and Christopher Evan Welch. It is set to debut on April 6th.

GHOSTBUSTERS Star Harold Ramis Has Passed Away

Actor, writer, and director Harold Ramis died today at his home in Chicago. He was 69-years old. I'm a huge fan of the many of the films that he's worked on over the years, and I'm sad to hear that he's passed away.

The award-winning comic filmmaker co-wrote and starred in films such as Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, and Stripes. He also wrote and directed films like Caddyshack and Groundhog Day. He also worked on National Lampoon’s Animal House, National Lampoon's Vacation, and Meatballs

Ramis died from complications related to auto-immune inflammatory vasculitis, which is a disease he battled for four years. He was surrounded by friends and family in Chicago, where he and his wife have lived since 1996.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends, family, and fans. He will be missed.

Here's a fun piece of art that mashes Mickey Mouse's Steamboat Willie with the popular video game Bioshock. The illustration comes from Liz is the Biz, and this is what she had to say about it,

This piece was done for one of my classes where we had to mash-up two different styles. I chose to mash-up Bioshock and Steamboat Willie.  I did a lot of research into different postures that characters had, along with researching what characters could be combined. Super fun project and I’m very proud of the finished product.
