"The computer. It's basically a VCR, file cabinet, and a television combined. I mean when you press all those things they don't explode." These are helpful tips given by Kim Komando in her instructional video Komputer Kindergarten. Kim reminds us that the '90s were not only an exciting time, but also a very confusing time for technology....painfully confusing for some it would appear. Watch the video below and cringe away.

Armie Hammer Joins Tom Cruise In THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros has found a co-star for Tom Cruise in the Guy Ritchie directed remake of the 1960's TV show The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. Armie Hammer (The Social NetworkThe Lone Ranger) has been tasked with the job of being Mr. Cruise's sidekick. Here is a little synopsis of the TV show:

The original TV series ran from 1964-68, with Robert Vaughan and David McCallum playing Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, two agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. With gadgets and their wits and charm, they fought the evil forces of Thrush.

It sounds like a lot of the same stuff that we have seen before. However, you really can't go wrong with Cruise in the lead. I have yet to see The Lone Ranger, so I am not too sure how Hammer will do in an action role. With Ritchie at the helm and the cast they've brought together, the film seems to be on the right course. It sounds like it could be a fun movie.

Do you think this is a movie that should be made, or do you think we have seen this too many time before?

Until next time...

Neil Gaiman's Doctor Who episode titled "Nightmare in Silver" is set to premiere next month. In anticipation of it, the BBC has released a poster and plot synopsis for the highly awaited episode!

Hedgewick’s World of Wonders was once the greatest theme park in the galaxy, but it’s now the dilapidated home to a shabby showman, a chess-playing dwarf and a dysfunctional army platoon.

When the Doctor, Clara, Artie and Angie arrive, the last thing they expect is the re-emergence of one of the Doctor’s oldest foes. The Cybermen are back!

The episode was directed by Stephen Woolfenden, and it sounds like the TARDIS is going to take Matt Smith's Doctor and his new companion Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) on another fantastic sci-fi adventure! The episode is set to air on May 11th!

Scarlett Johansson Joins Luc Besson's Action Thriller LUCY

Scarlett Johansson is going to kick some major ass in Luc Besson's latest action thriller film project called Lucy. Besson, who wrote and directed films such as The Professional, Taken, The Fifth Element, and The Transporter, will direct the movie from a script he wrote.

The story "centers on a woman forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can't feel pain and other discomforts."

It definitely sounds like a movie Besson would make! This seems like a crazy role for Johansson to take on. Yeah, we've all seen her ballistically beat the hell out of people as Black Widow, but Besson is going to take that action-packed craziness to a whole new level with her in Lucy. Besson knows how to entertain his audience.

Anthony Mackie on The Falcon's Telepathy and THE AVENGERS 2

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Anthony Mackie talks a little bit more about The Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Solider. During the interview, he reveals a few new details about the character saying that he hopes he ends up in The Avengers 2, talks about getting in shape for the role, and he addresses the character's telepathic abilities with birds. When asked about the telepathy he explains,

What they do is the Falcon has had two or three incarnations over the life of the character, so they took all three and formed it into one character. They released the photos of my character in his uniform about two weeks ago, so all of that stuff we’re figuring out and we’re going to play into taking down the Winter Soldier.

When asked if his new big muscles from Pain & Gain are helping him with his stunt work he said,

I’ve toned up and trimmed down a lot for Winter Soldier. Playing the Falcon, he’s supposed to be flying around. If you have all those muscles, flying would be very difficult. And Chris Evans isn’t a big guy at all, so I felt like it would be a huge disservice for me to show up and be 210 lbs and stand next to him. So I just kind of slimmed down and toned up so we would look like we are in the same movie.

The movie is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo who are mostly known for doing comedy work. Mackie is asked if some of that comedy is going to change the tone of the sequel,

You know what, it doesn’t feel that way. The Russo brothers are very good as far as putting people in a situation that’s funny and letting them find their way out. But also with this movie, what they’re doing that’s really cool is allowing us to find those dark beats. They’re allowing us to really make those characters real people as opposed to slapstick comedy cartoons.

The last question that he's asked is if he's going to stay ripped for The Avengers 2 and this was his response,

I hope so. I hope. I don’t know if I’m in Avengers 2 yet, but if I am, I’m definitely going to do my damnedest to try.

I'm excited to see how this character turns out in the film. It sounds like he will make a great addition to the Marvel movie universe. If people end up liking him in this film, I'm sure we'll see him team up with the Avengers in 2015.

MTV Developing SCREAM TV Series

MTV announced today that they will be developing a pilot for a TV series based on the Scream movie franchise. I think this could be a decent series, but I don't think MTV is the right place for it. I haven't exactly seen anything good or worth watching come from MTV, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I really enjoyed Scream 4, and I thought for sure we would see a fifth movie get made. I'd much rather see a new movie than a mediocre TV series.

As of right now, the network has no specific concept for the show, they don't have a writer, but they are trying to get the franchise director Wes Craven on board to direct the pilot. Even though they really don't know what they are doing with the series, they have high hopes for the project, and they plan on airing it in the summer of 2014.

What do you think about MTV developing a SCREAM series?

Mike Nichols to Direct J.J. Abrams' ONE LAST THING BEFORE I GO

Mike Nichols is in talks to direct the J.J. Abrams produced comedic drama set up at Paramount Pictures called One Last Thing Before I Go. If Nichols ends up taking the gig, it won't be the first time he's worked with Abrams. The two worked together on the Harrison Ford drama Regarding Henry. Nichols is a fantastic director that has also made classic films such as The Graduate, Biloxi Blues, Working Girl, and The Birdcage. The last film he did was Charlie Wilson's War

The movie will be an adaptation of Jonathan Tropper's novel, which "centers on a divorced father suffering through a midlife crisis: His ex-wife is getting married to a nice guy, his college-bound daughter is pregnant, and he may die if he doesn't proceed with a medical operation."

Sounds like a heavy story, but for those of you who have lived through heavy drama, then you also know there's humor to be found in it. This seems like the perfect kind of project for Nichols to take on. Here's the official description of the book...

You don’t have to look very hard at Drew Silver to see that mistakes have been made. His fleeting fame as the drummer for a one-hit wonder rock band is nearly a decade behind him. He lives in the Versailles, an apartment building filled almost exclusively with divorced men like him, and makes a living playing in wedding bands. His ex-wife, Denise, is about to marry a guy Silver can’t quite bring himself to hate. And his Princeton-bound teenage daughter Casey has just confided in him that she’s pregnant—because Silver is the one she cares least about letting down.

So when he learns that his heart requires emergency, lifesaving surgery, Silver makes the radical decision to refuse the operation, choosing instead to use what little time he has left to repair his relationship with Casey, become a better man, and live in the moment, even if that moment isn't destined to last very long. As his exasperated family looks on, Silver grapples with the ultimate question of whether or not his own life is worth saving.

With the wedding looming and both Silver and Casey in crisis, this broken family struggles to come together, only to risk damaging each other even more. One Last Thing Before I Gois Jonathan Tropper at his funny, insightful, heartbreaking best.

This looks like the first of several character featurettes that will be released for Star Trek Into Darkness. This first one focuses on Chris Pine's Captain Kirk. It features interviews, behind the scenes footage and some new footage from the film itself. I've always liked Captain Kirk. He's been a fantastic and interesting character.

The movie also stars Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, and Anton Yelchin. The film is set to hit theaters May 17th.

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

This is the latest official behind the scenes set photo from Godzilla that was posted on the film's Facebook fan page. It came with the caption... "Path of Destruction." It's no surprise that the giant lizard is going to wreak havoc, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the final design of the creature looks like.

The film is currently being directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, and Sally Hawkins. It's set to be released on May 16th, 2014.

"Mother nature is a serial killer. No one's better."

A new video featurette has been released for the Marc Forster-directed zombie epic World War Z. This looks like it will be an insane zombie movie, and I've heard there's stuff they've put in it that we've never seen in a zombie movie before, which is exciting. The video features interviews with the cast and director talking about the movie, and it shows off a little more footage.

The film was inspired by Max Brooks' novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. The film's story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), an accidental hero, who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

It also stars Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, and Matthew FoxWorld War Z is set to be released on June 21st, 2013. Click here to check out all of our World War Z news!

Jon Favreau Looking to Direct Indie Comedy CHEF

The last little indie film that Jon Favreau directed was 2001s Made, which I thought was fantastic. After that, he went on to direct bigger budget films such as Zathura, Iron Man, and Cowboys and Aliens, which was the last movie he directed. Since then, he was attached to develop Disney's Magic Kingdom, and an adaptation of the musical Jersey Boys. Not sure what's really going on with those movies right now, but Variety is reporting that Favreau is going back to his indie roots and is looking to write, direct and star in a new indie comedy called Chef

Details on the film's plot are slim, but according to the report the story will be set in a Los Angeles-based restaurant run by an emotional chef who will be played by Favreau. As a fan of Favreau's work, I'm looking forward to seeing what he has planned for this new indie film, I hope he's able to make this movie!

Trailer for the Eco Terrorist Spy Thriller THE EAST

A solid new trailer has been released for the eco terrorist spy thriller The East, which I think some of you will want to see. I saw it up at Sundance earlier this year. I thought it was really well made and intense film. It was one of the few movies I saw at the festival that got a standing ovation at the end. You can read my review for the film here. Here's the synopsis:

In The East, Sarah Moss (Marling) is a brilliant operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele. She is assigned to go undercover to infiltrate an anarchist collective known for executing covert attacks upon major corporations. Living amongst them in an effort to get closer to their members, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds as she starts to fall in love with the group's charismatic leader, finding her life and her priorities irrevocably changed.

The movie stars Brit Marling, Alexander Skarsgård, Ellen Page, Julia Ormond, and Patricia Clarkson. It's set to be released on May 31st. So if it's playing in a theater near you, I suggest you check it out. I think you'll like it.

Trailer for the Movie Adaptation of Judy Blume's TIGER EYES

$

Judy Blume has been writing books since the 1960s. A lot of the books she's written could have made some good movies. A couple of my favorite books that I remember are Tales of A Fourth Grade Nothing and Superfudge. After all these years, one of her books is finally getting the big screen treatment. Tiger Eyes is the first book from Blume's collection that has been made into a feature, and we have the first trailer for it!

The movie was directed and co-written by her son, Lawrence Blume, and it stars Willa Holland, Amy Jo Johnson, Cynthia Stevenson, Tatanka Means, Elise Eberle, and Russell Means. This actually looks like a solid adaptation of the story. Here's the synopsis...

Davey is a 17 year-old girl abruptly relocated by her grieving mother to the strange “atom bomb” town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. With the sudden and violent death of her father, the displaced Davey no longer knows who to be or how to fit in. Everything that once mattered suddenly seems insignificant. But when she meets Wolf, a mysterious young Native-American, while exploring the surrounding canyons, she feels he is able to see past her pain and into her true self. The connection they make brings Davey back from the edge and sets her on a journey from heartbreak and confusion to transformation as she discovers love and life after tragedy.

Tiger Eyes will be released in theaters and VOD on June 7th.

I saw a cool manipulation of Rapunzel as Daenerys a few weeks back. It left me wondering if I could do something similar… Turns out I can.

Zombieland Director Working on New Sci-Fi Film at Sony

Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer is back at Sony Pictures and developing a new untitled sci-fi/fantasy film project for them. He will direct and produce the movie from a script being written by Eric Pearson, who is a fairly new up and coming screenwriter.

Unfortunately, there are absolutely no details on what the movie will be about. I hope it turns out better than Fleischer's last two movies, which include 30 Minutes or Less and Gangster Squad. I did enjoy watching those movies for what they were, but they could have been a lot better.

Hopefully he can pull together a solid sci-fi/fantasy film.

Trailer for Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch's PRINCE AVALANCHE

Here's the trailer for director David Gordon Green's latest movie Prince Avalanche, which stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. After making bigger studio films such as Pineapple Express, Your Highness, and The Sitter, Green went back to the basics to make this little indie comedy drama. The movie premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and Eli seemed to enjoy it, calling it "a smaller and sweeter comedy gem." Here's what he had to say about Rudd and Hirsch in his review,

Hirsch and Rudd aren't your typical comedic duo, but it's a dynamic that was executed superbly in the way Gordon Green tailored the roles for these actors, and how much freedom they were given to direct themselves at times and really explore their characters and push their performances.

It looks like a good movie, and one that is worth checking out. Here's the synopsis:

An odd couple of sorts, meditative and stern Alvin (Rudd) and his girlfriend’s brother, Lance (Hirsch), dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer in solitude repainting traffic lines down the center of a country highway ravaged by wildfire. As they sink into their job in the remarkable landscape, they learn more than they want to about each other and their own limitations. An unlikely friendship develops through humor and nasty exchanges, leading to surprising affection.

The movie will be released in August of this year. Check out the trailer and let us know if this looks like a movie you'd want to see!
