Possible First Look at Bryan Cranston as Zordon in POWER RANGERS

0

Like many of you, I've been looking forward to seeing what Bryan Cranston would look like as Zordon in the upcoming Power Rangers movie. Well, it looks like we have our first image that comes from a Power Rangers VR experience being shown at Qualcomm’s booth at the ongoing CES. You can see a photo of that VR experience below, which was posted on Reddit:

our-first-possible-look-at-bryan-cranston-as-zordon-in-power-rangers

There's no confirmation that this is legit, but it looks like Cranston, and it looks like the kind of style that we'd see in the film. As you can see he's a giant floating head in a cave like setting rather than in a tube. If this is legit, I'm sure Lionsgate will release a much better look at Cranston in the role soon.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The Rangers you see here include Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger. Elizabeth Banks also stars in the movie as the main villain Rita Repulsa.

Power Rangers is set to hit theaters March 24th.

What better way to kick off 2017 than by getting reacquainted with Bill S. Preston (Esquire) and Ted "Theodore" Logan? ScreenJunkies has dropped their first Honest Trailer of the year, and it looks back on the beloved 1989 movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Still no official word about that third movie in the franchise, but last we heard, there was a chance Bill & Ted 3 could start shooting sometime this year.

First Look at Obi-Wan Kenobi in STAR WARS REBELS; New Trailer Teases a Rematch with Darth Maul!

An exciting new trailer has been released for the mid-season premiere of Star Wars Rebels, and it's loaded with all kinds of goodies! It offers us out first look at an older Alec Guinness-era version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it teases a rematch between him and Darth Maul! How freakin' awesome is that?! We also get our first look at Mon Mothma in the series.

Up until this point, every version of Obi-Wan that we've seen in the animated Star Wars series has been the young Ewan McGregor-era version. This is the first time we have see him as an older man in these shows, and it's super cool.

I just can't wait to see his rematch with Darth Maul! That's going to be quite a momentous event. I don't expect to see it happen until the season finale, though.

Star Wars Rebels returns this Saturday with a two-part episode featuring Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.

Marvel Comics Announces DEADPOOL VS. THE PUNISHER Series

marvel-comics-announces-deadpool-vs-the-punisher-series

Marvel Comics has announced a new comic book series called Deadpool Vs. The Punisher, which means that we're going to get to see these two badass vigilantes battle it out! The comic comes from writer Fred Van Lente with art by Pepe Perez.

This is an interesting match-up because they have completely different personalities. Of course they aren't going to get along! Deadpool is a hilarious, non-stop talker, and The Punisher is completely humorless and always serious. The one thing they do have in common is that they are killing machines, so it should make for a good fight!

When talking about the series Van Lente tells Marvel:

"It’s a real peanut-butter-in-chocolate situation, and you take that compare/contrast and run with it. You put Deadpool in a gritty crime story and Frank in this kind of insane, manic world where Deadpool’s adventures take place, and you let them try and shoot their way out of it—and at each other!"

He goes on to say:

"Oh, they do not like each other, particularly from their [Thunderbolts] days on the same team together. Wade thinks Frank is a stick in the mud while Frank thinks Wade’s healing factor has made him loud, sloppy and useless.
"I mean, to me the gold standard for these kinds of “versus” comics is [Christopher] Priest and [Mark] Bright’s SPIDER-MAN VS. WOLVERINE, where the two characters have a genuine reason to go after each other; t’s not mind control, it’s not mistook-you-for-a-villain, both protagonists are each other’s antagonists for legitimate reasons the reader can relate to, and that’s where this new character The Bank comes in."

The writer also offers more information on this new character The Bank saying:

"The Bank is a shadowy character who’s existed in the Marvel Universe for decades, but we’ve never heard of him before because he is very much off the grid—he’s as his name implies a money man, who handles offshore accounts for a variety of amoral-to-immoral characters and organizations.
"He also happens to be one of Wade Wilson’s best friends, having known Deadpool before his Weapon X days, and so when Punisher decides to bring The Bank down, he’s got to go through Deadpool to do that, and you know what? Frank doesn’t really have a problem with that, since he doesn’t like Wade all that much anyway.
"There’s a bit more to it than that, but that would get into spoiler territory, so I will leave it there for now…"

I can't wait to see these characters go ballistic on each other!

Here's How to Make the Big Kahuna Burger From PULP FICTION

Do you remember the Big Kahuna Burger from Pulp Fiction? You're probably more familiar with the scene in which Jules Winnfield goes on a crazy monologue in the apartment and then kills a guy. That burger Jules ate? That's what we're talking about here!

I might just be hungry, but that looks like a pretty damn tasty burger. If you're thinking the same and want to cook it, check out this video from Andrew Rea as he recreates the burger from the film! Master it and you'll be able to eat it anytime you want...even if your girlfriend is a vegetarian.

DEADPOOL Was Just Nominated For a Writers Guild Award, Which Makes an Oscar Nomination Possible

0

Look, I loved Deadpool! I thought it was a great film that was solidly written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, but I didn't think it would ever be nominated for any awards! But here we are, awards season upon us, and it was just nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Writers Guild Awards, which means it could very well end up getting an Oscar nomination! How awesome is that?! The WGA nominations frequently predict what the Academy is going to recognize in their Adapted and Original Screenplay nominations.

Does it have a chance of winning? If it was nominated, then yeah... it definitely has a chance! The movie is going up against some pretty heavy hitters, though. You can see the full list of screenplay nominations below:

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
Hell or High Water, Written by Taylor Sheridan; CBS Films
La La Land, Written by Damien Chazelle; Lionsgate
Loving, Written by Jeff Nichols; Focus Features
Manchester by the Sea, Written by Kenneth Lonergan; Amazon Studios/Roadside Attractions
Moonlight, Written by Barry Jenkins, Story by Tarell McCraney; A24
ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
Arrival, Screenplay by Eric Heisserer; Based on the Story "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang; Paramount Pictures
Deadpool, Written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick; Based on the X-Men Comic Books; Twentieth Century Fox Film
Fences, Screenplay by August Wilson; Based on his Play; Paramount Pictures
Hidden Figures, Screenplay by Allison Schroeder and Theodore Melfi; Based on the Book by Margot Lee Shetterly; Twentieth Century Fox Film
Nocturnal Animals, Screenplay by Tom Ford; Based on the Novel Tony and Susan by Austin Wright; Focus Features

It's kind of crazy to look at this list of nominations and see Deadpool in there. Most of the films on this list are heavy dramas, and then there's Deadpool. It's certainly saying a lot, and the fact that it's unique from everything else could give it the win, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Do you think Deadpool deserves the nomination?

Watch How They Pulled Off the Digital Creation of Grand Moff Tarkin in ROGUE ONE

One of the craziest things that came out of Rogue One: A Star Wars story was how Peter Cushing was brought back to life in CGI form as Grand Moff Tarkin. He played a much bigger part of the story than we expected him to, and I loved that.

Tonight on Nightline, visual the visual effects artists at Industrial Light and Magic will talk about creating the digital characters in the film, revealing the secrets and challenges of actually being able to properly pull it off.

As a way to promote that special, a video was posted on Twitter showing the transformation of actor Guy Henry into Peter Cushing. It's pretty cool to see, and you'll get even more details on how they pulled it off tonight during the ABC Nightline special.

A New Winner Is Crowned for the Most Ridiculous DRAGON BALL Cosplay of All Time

0
0

We've covered a ton of cosplay over the years, but this has to be the most ridiculous piece of Dragon Ball cosplay ever conceived. Even if you're not really familiar with the series, you've probably heard of a kamehameha, the energy blast attack delivered by Goku and some of the other characters. Someone — presumably at a convention somewhere — decided to dress up as the blast itself.

According to Google Translate, that tweet says: "I saw Kamehameha wave cosplay for the first time." Yeah, you and I both, buddy. Think about what that day must have been like for that person. Painting up, lugging the cardboard and the pads around, and then just lying down at random times to let people know what the heck you're supposed to be. That's dedication.

Must-Watch: This Kick-Ass Commercial for a Tea Restaurant Is One Long Martial Arts Fight Scene

It's not too often you see incredible martial arts choreography in any commercial, let alone a tiny online piece for a tea restaurant that clearly doesn't have the massive budget of your typical nationwide TV commercial. But the team at Team Red Productions did a terrific job with this Kung Fu Tea ad, which is just one long fight scene of three guys caught in a hugely entertaining battle over who gets the restaurant's last taro tea. Great work, guys — maybe Hollywood will come calling.

Jeremy Renner Wants to Do a Hawkeye and Black Widow Movie

0
0

I think there are a good amount of Marvel fans out there that would like to see Black Widow and Hawkeye team up in a movie together. The two make a great team, and it's always fun watching them fight alongside each other. There are several stories they could tell involving these characters if Marvel Studios were to ever do it, but I doubt that it's in their plans. That doesn't mean that Jeremy Renner wouldn't want to see it happen!

During an interview with the British newspaper Metro (via Edmonton Sun), Renner says that it makes sense to see the two characters team up for a film.

"I always thought it would make sense early on to do a Hawkeye/Widow movie because they’re quite similar – they don’t have powers, have high skill sets, and have history together, but I don’t think there are any discussions about that happening. I’d love to do it though."

If this film were to happen it might be cool to see them explore the Budapest storyline that has been mentioned in the MCU. During the mission, they were involved in a situation that would later be remembered by Romanoff during the Battle of New York, as one of the fights she and Barton had against one of the Chitauri groups reminded her of Budapest. Alexander Pierce also mentioned that her time in Budapest would also be exposed if she leaked S.H.I.E.L.D.'s (Hydra's?) exploits.

Renner goes on to talk about the friendships he's made while making these films:

"We’ve become great friends. I see Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson quite a lot. Chris Hemsworth has been so busy I haven’t hung out with him for a while and Elizabeth Olsen is a neighbor, so I see her quite often."

This isn't the first time that Renner has talked about a Black Widow and Hawkeye team-up. He previously said it would make a great Netflix series. Would you rather have a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie or Netflix series?

The SLENDER MAN Horror Movie Is Set to Be Directed by Sylvain White

0
0

Screen Gems' Slender Man horror film is moving forward with a director who was just hired to take on the challenge of bringing the modern-day urban legend to life. That director is Sylvain White, who previously directed the films Stomp the Yard and The Losers. Those films aren't really worth remembering, but White is taking on a whole new genre with Slender Man, and I hope he does something great with it and gives us something truly terrifying.

Slender Man is a scary dude, so if White can't give us a nightmarishly terrifying film then he's failed. The creature is a tall, thin frightening thing with unnaturally long arms and a featureless face. It's responsible for the haunting and disappearance of countless children and teens. This is a monster that Doug Jones should play!

While we wait for this movie to be released, HBO recently announced that their true crime documentarr Beware the Slenderman will premiere on Monday, January 23rd.

Learn What Happened to All the Heroes of THE LORD OF THE RINGS After It Ended

0
0

For those of you who have never taken the time to read the books about Middle Earth by J.R.R. Tolkien, there’s a lot of information that you’ve missed out on about many of the heroes that you love from The Lord of the Rings films. Thanks to Imgur user Sciencegeek100, you can now learn the fates of character such as Aragorn, Arwen, Samwise, Merry, Pippin, Gimli, and more without all the reading and research.

Aragorn II Elessar

When in the year 120 of the Fourth Age, King Elessar realised his days were at an end, he went to the House of the Kings in the Silent Street. He said farewell to his son Eldarion and his daughters and gave Eldarion his crown and sceptre. Arwen remained at Aragorn’s side until he died.

Arwen

Died of a broken heart at Cerin Amroth in Lórien, and was buried there one year after the death of Aragorn, to whom she had been wedded for 122 years. She was 2901 years old.

Samwise Gamgee

After his wife died in the year 61 of the Fourth Age (SR 1482), Sam entrusted the Red Book to his daughter, Elanor and left the Shire. Because he was also a Ring-bearer, he was allowed to pass over the Sea to be reunited with Frodo in the Undying Lands.

Meriadoc Brandybuck

He married Estella Bolger some time after the end of the Third Age and later became the Master of Buckland. He wrote Old Words and Names in the Shire. At the age of 102, he returned to Rohan and Gondor with Pippin only to die there a few years later. He was laid to rest in Gondor, and when Elessar died, he and Pippin were entombed beside the great king.

Peregrin Took

He later became the 32nd Thain of the Shire, a position he held for 50 years before retiring, when he revisited Rohan and Gondor with Merry. Peregrin remained in Gondor for the rest of his life. Pippin died a few years later and was laid to rest with Merry in Gondor. After the great King Elessar (Aragorn) died, Merry and Pippin were entombed next to the great king.

Gimli

He led a large number of Durin’s Folk south to establish a new Dwarf kingdom in the Glittering Caves, which were located behind Helm’s Deep where Gimli was trapped during the battle, and he became the first Lord of the Glittering Caves. Later, he traveled with Legolas into the West and became the first dwarf to visit the Undying Lands.

Éowyn

After the War of the Ring had ended, she decided to give up dreams of glory in battle and devote her life to peace and a happy marriage. She married Faramir and settled in Ithilien for the rest of her life where they had at least one son.

Faramir

He was appointed by King Elessar as the Prince of Ithilien and Beregond to be the Captain of his guard, the White Company. Later on he settled in Emyn Arnen with his wife Éowyn, where they had at least one son (named Elboron), who succeeded him as Steward of Gondor, Prince of Ithilien, and Lord of Emyn Arnen, after Faramir’s death.

Éomer

He became known as Éomer Éadig, or “the Blessed”, because during his reign Rohan recovered from the hurts of the War and became a rich and fruitful land again. Éomer had met Lothíriel, daughter of Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth during his stay in Gondor, and they were wed. She bore him a son Elfwine, who succeeded him after his death.

And if you’re wondering what happened to Frodo, Gandalf, Bilbo, Elrond, Celeborn, and Galadriel at the end of the movies/books, you see them leaving by ship for the Undying Lands.

From the LotR wiki:

In TA 3021 (Third Age), Círdan the Shipwright accompanied Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf, the Keepers of the Rings, on a voyage to the Undying Lands, where they intended to remain. They were also joined by Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, Hobbits who were among the very few mortal beings to be allowed passage to the Undying Lands. Eventually, Samwise Gamgee, another Hobbit of the Shire, and the Dwarf Gimli along with his good friend Legolas, are also said to have made the journey.

Trailer for THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS Looks Unlike Any Zombie Film I've Seen Before

trailer-for-the-girl-with-all-the-gifts-looks-unlike-any-zombie-film-that-youve-seen-before

An awesome trailer has been released for a new film called The Girl With All The Gifts. This is a zombie thriller that looks unlike any other zombie movie that I've seen before. On top of it being a unique take on the zombie genre, it's also been getting positive reviews from people who got to see it at Fantastic Fest last year.

The Colm McCarthy-directed film is based on the novel of the same name written by M.R. Carey. The story is set in a zombie apocalypse in which society has collapsed, and the humans who survived are looking for a cure to the zombie plague. One of the main characters is a young girl who has the zombie virus, but has also managed to basically stay human, save for the craving of human flesh.

The movie has an impressive cast that includes Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton, Paddy Condidine, and Sennia Nanua as the zombie girl. Here's the full detailed synopsis:

The near future; humanity has been all but destroyed by a mutated fungal disease that eradicates free will and turns its victims into flesh-eating “hungries.” Only a small group of children seem immune to its effects.
At an army base in rural England, this group of unique children are being studied, subjected to cruel experiments by biologist Dr. Caldwell. Despite having been infected with the zombie pathogen that has decimated the world, these children retain normal thoughts and emotions. And while still being subject to the craving for human flesh that marks the disease these second- generation “hungries” are able to think and feel making them a vital resource in the search for a cure.
The children attend school lessons daily, guarded by the ever watchful Sergeant Parks. But one little girl, Melanie, stands out from the rest. Melanie is special. She excels in the classroom, is inquisitive, imaginative and loves her favorite teacher Miss Justineau.
When the base falls, Melanie escapes along with Miss Justineau, Sergeant Parks and Dr. Caldwell. Against the backdrop of a blighted Britain, Melanie must discover what she is and ultimately decide both her own future and that of the human race.

The Girl With the All the Gifts will be available to watch on DirecTV on January 26th. It will then be released in theaters and VOD platforms on February 24th.

Doug Jones Shares New Details on Guillermo Del Toro’s THE SHAPE OF WATER

0
0

There is still so much that we don’t know about Guillermo del Toro’s next film, The Shape of Water. What we do know is that it’s an “other-worldly love story, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963.” It’s also said to be a “mysterious and magical journey.”

It was later rumored that the story follows a “mute janitor named Elisa (Sally Hawkins) who falls for an amphibious man who's being kept at the lab where she works. She tries to break him out with the help of her neighbor (probably played by Richard Jenkins), but ‘the world outside of the lab, however, may prove to be more dangerous for the amphibious man than Elisa could have anticipated.’”

We now have some additional information on the film thanks to Doug Jones, who will be playing the amphibious man in the story. While talking to Collider he thought it'd be cool to let some interesting new details slide out about the plot:

“It’s not a sci-fi [film], it’s not a genre film, but I am a creature in it. I’m a fish man that’s kind of a one-off. I’m an enigma, nobody knows where I came from; I’m the last of my species so I’m like a natural anomaly. And I’m being studied and tested in a U.S. government facility in 1963, so the Russian Cold War is on, the race for space is on, so there’s all that backdrop and that undercurrent. I’m being tested for how can they use me for advantages in military or space travel, or my technology—can we make this usable for humans? So they’re trying to keep me a secret from the Russians.”

This really sounds like an interesting love story between an amphibious creature and a cleaning lady, who will be played by Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine, Happy-Go-Lucky). The rest of the cast includes Michael Shannon (Midnight Special), Richard Jenkins (Bone Tomahawk), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man, Steve Jobs), and Octavia Spencer (The Help, Gifted).

I love it when Del Toro makes original film projects. The guy is a great storyteller, and I love when he just lets his imagination loose. I can’t wait to see how this film turns out.
