Supercut: People on DAREDEVIL Can't Stop Saying "This City"

0

I thought Batman talked about his city a lot, but this supercut of Daredevil characters talking about their city puts The Dark Knight to shame. Keep in mind: all of these mentions are contained within Daredevil's first season alone. Somebody should really do something about that city so they can all stop talking about it so much.

Trailer for the Medieval Norwegian Action Thriller THE LAST KING

Look, I don’t know the history of skiing, but until I watched this trailer for The Last King, I had no idea that Norwegians were skiing in the 13th century. This movie is based on a true story that takes place in 1206 in Norway during a time when the country was ravaged by civil war.

The story centers on two men who are charged with secretly protecting the King’s illegitimate infant son, Håkon Håkonsson. Apparently, half the kingdom wanted this kid killed off. It looks like it will be a solidly fun film. Here’s the brief synopsis that came along with the trailer:

Norway is ravaged by civil war, and The King's illegitimate son is guarded in deep secret. A boy half the kingdom is out to kill, and whom two men have to protect with their own lives. The Last King is the story of the escape that changed the history of Norway forever.

The two men took the 2-year-old boy, in very harsh winter conditions, across the mountains in Osterdalen. There was a lot of skiing involved. Håkonsso later became King Haakon and eventually ended the civil war.

The movie was directed by Norwegian filmmaker Nils Gaup, and it stars Kristofer Hivju, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Jakob Oftebro, and Thorbjørn Harr. Magnolia Pictures will release The Last King in US theaters and VOD starting June 17th. I’ll be looking forward to watching it!

Manga-Inspired CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Poster Art by FAIRY TAIL’s Hiro Mashima

As a way to celebrate the premiere of Captain America: Civil War in Japan, Rave and Fairy Tail manga creator Hiro Mashima created two cool posters for the film in his art style.

The first poster is a large scale print that features Iron Man and Captain America in the heat of battle. The other poster features characters from Mashima's Fairy Tail manga series divided into two groups in an intense stare off, which is based on the designs of other Civil War posters that have been released. That was a mini poster that was given to audience members who attended opening night of the film.

According to Anime News Network, “Mashima is a self-professed fan of the Avengers series while Marvel's vice president of international business development & brand management C.B. Cebulski is a fan of Mashima's work.”

Cebulski is working out of Shanghai to "spearhead efforts to further manage and develop Marvel's brand in Asia." He asked Mashima to create the Civil War poster and Mashima excitedly reacted saying, "I cannot believe Marvel authorized me to draw Iron Man and Cap!"

I also included a few new TV spots for the film for you to watch.

M.A.S.K. Is Getting a Comic Book Reboot Before the Movie

mask-is-getting-a-comic-book-reboot-before-the-movie

The classic 1980s cartoon M.A.S.K. was such a badass series, and I think it would make for a hell of an awesome film. I think it could be at the same caliber of greatness as Mad Max: Fury Road. I really hope that Paramount Pictures and the creative team they’ve gathered to develop the film will do the series justice.

Before that movie comes out, though, fans will be treated to a comic book reboot from writer Brandon Easton and artist Tony Vargas. The comic is being published by IDW, and according to USA Today, they will be giving it a Fast and Furious spin.

It’s explained that the comic won’t be “a cookie-cutter retread of the TV show where Matt Trakker’s good guys in M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) battled Miles Mayhem’s antagonistic organization V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem)” According to Easton:

“This is a M.A.S.K. for the 21st century with a diverse team of specialists who are chosen for a top-secret program with a painful learning curve. Ultimately, each participant will have to choose a side — and no matter which side they choose, the consequences will be great.”

The M.A.S.K. comic will also include a modernized take on the classic vehicles such as the Thunderhawk, which was a Camaro that turned into a plane. All of the vehicles in the show transformed into combat-ready armored battle vehicles.

Vargas goes on to say that they’ve kept the “color combinations and vital identifiable components” that relate to the main characters in the series, but it’s explained that the comic will look very different in some ways. You can get a taste of that in the first art from the comic that has been released. Easton says:

“We won't be going too grim, gritty or dark. However you're not going to see a teenage kid riding a cowardly robot across the battlefield.”

The writer goes on to talk about the main character Matt Trakker and how he will be a cross between Elon Musk and Idris Elba. He describes the character further, saying that he’s “an engineering genius and intellectual bad boy who has been in search of stability since the loss of his father at an early age.” It’s then explained that Matt has gone through a troubled adolescence, and as an adult, “he's given one last chance at redemption: going through the M.A.S.K. boot camp.”

As far as the main villain goes, this version of Miles "Mayhem" Manheim is said to be “a master manipulator, brilliant military strategist and control freak whose plans to rule the world are extremely close to fruition.” According to Easton, “V.E.N.O.M. will be a true force. They don't lose often nor do they accept defeat with grace.” He promises that this version of the villainous group will be deadlier than ever.

I’m really curious to see how this turns out and if this new version is what will influence the movie being made. As a fan of the cartoon, I really, really, really hope this all turns out better than what we’ve seen with G.I. Joe and Transformers. M.A.S.K. could be absolutely incredible if the right talent comes on board to make it happen.

Kylo Ren’s Complicated Inner Struggles Explored in Beautiful STAR WARS Art

I’ve got a beautiful set of Star Wars art to share with you today that explores the complicated inner struggles of Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens. The art was created by German artist Jenny Dolfen, and it offers us a glimpse into what might be going through Kylo Ren’s mind throughout the course of the film. One of my favorites is of a young Rey sheepishly approaching a young and struggling Kylo Ren. Some of the art here is pretty emotional stuff. The artist is selling prints of these at her Etsy store if you’re interested. With Star Wars Day coming on May 4th, I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of cool Star Wars stuff to keep us entertained.

It Sounds Like STAR TREK 4 is Already Being Prepped for Development

0
0

According to Trek Movie, Paramount Pictures recently registered the title Star Trek 4 with the Motion Picture Association of America. It's not really a surprise, it's just assumed that the studio will just keep making Star Trek films. Star Trek is a great and beloved franchise. It wouldn't make sense for the studio not to keep it alive.

Last year, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto officially signed on for a fourth Star Trek film if Paramount decided to move forward with it. I imagine the other stars in the franchise will sign on when the studio starts developing it.

The studio is obviously confident in what Justin Lin and his team have brought to Star Trek Beyond. The movie looks like a very exciting and different kind of Star Trek film, and I'm curious to see how it turns out. If the upcoming sequel utterly fails, then Paramount doesn't have to move forward with a fourth film if they don't want to.

Just because the title of the fourth was registered as Star Trek 4, that doesn't mean that the movie itself will be called that. As of right now it's just a placeholder until the movie starts production and is given an official title.

Are you excited to hear that Paramount is looking to continue their current Star Trek adventure?

First Look at Hot Toys Crossbones CIVIL WAR Action Figure

first-look-at-hot-toys-crossbones-civil-war-action-figure

Thanks to the Toy Zone, we have our first look at Hot Toys’ Crossbones action figure from Captain America: Civil War. He comes complete with his full body armor gear, and he’s ready to take on Captain America. The 1/6th scale collectible action figure is incredibly detailed and you get a lot of close-up photos giving you a glimpse at how detailed this thing is.

Crossbones returns with a vengeance in Civil War and he’s out for revenge for what happened to him at the end of The Winter Soldier. There’s an incredibly intense fight sequence in the film between Steve Rogers and him, and it kind of sparks the events of the story that unfolds throughout the course of the film.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Will Continue to Develop Peter Parker and Tony Stark's Relationship

0
0

One of the most amusing aspects of Captain America: Civil War is when Tony Stark and Peter Parker meet for the first time. The way it all plays out is pretty awesome, and I'm sure fans will be very happy with how it's handled. The two characters definitely have a fun relationship, and after seeing Civil War, I was hoping that we'd get to see that relationship continue to grow.

Last month we learned that Robert Downey Jr. would be reprising his role as Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Homecoming. We didn't really know how big of a part he would play in the film, but apparently it will be big enough to continue to grow the relationship between Iron Man and Spider-Man.

During an interview with IGN, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are asked if we would see that relationship will continue in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and they said "absolutely, it's going to." Joe went on to give two reasons of what's fun and different about this new interpretation of Spider-Man:

"One is we cast an actor who is very close in age to a high schooler. Tom is really the first young actor to portray the part, and he has an incredible vulnerability and a certain confidence married together that create this very youthful and exciting character.
"Two, the other thing that’s compelling is he’s now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he can interact with the characters in that universe. I think that this mentor relationship that Tony has developed with Peter Parker is probably one of the most interesting things the universe has moving forward.”

When you watch Captain America: Civil War, you'll get to see for yourself how strong and fun the chemistry is between Tom Holland and Downey Jr. It's exciting to learn that the characters they play in the MCU are going to get to spend some more time together and that we'll get to see this relationship grow.

Civil War comes out this week and Homecoming is scheduled to hit theaters on July 7th, 2017.

J.R.R Tolkien and George R.R. Martin Have a Surprisingly Good Epic Rap Battle

0
0

Despite the fact that J.R.R Tolkien and George R.R. Martin elevated the Fantasy genre well above its typical mainstream inattention, there are still fans who must debate which is better. I'm not here to argue about any of that (feel free to in the comments), but I do want to share a surprisingly good Epic Rap Battles of History between the two authors! Honestly, it's hard to declare a winner in this one because both rap disses were equally strong and I was laughing through both!

By the way, while their literary works are up for debate, the Lord of The Rings video games are far superior to the Game of Thrones video games.

Chinese Superman to Debut Soon in DC Comics

Next week's wave of comics will reveal the beginning of the origin of Chinese Superman Kenan Kong Bleeding Cool reports. Earlier this year DC comics announced many changes in their Rebirth, which included the appearance of heroes beyond their traditional borders. The first picture of Kenan looks pretty awesome!

In case you didn't know, Superman is dying this year (again), and his power will be split amongst several heroes with Kong assuming the mantle of the new Superman. I really like the outfit! I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Tom Cruise Isn't Very Happy with a Joke in AMC's PREACHER Series

0
0

If you don't want to know about the Tom Cruise joke in Preacher, then don't read any further. Spoilers ahead!

I had the opportunity to watch the first episode of AMC's Preacher at WonderCon a couple months ago, and I absolutely loved it! You can read our review of it here. There's a hilarious joke about Cruise in the first episode. It revolves around his death, and apparently the actor isn't very happy about it. In fact, writer and producer Seth Rogen told Uproxx that they got a call from Cruise’s people. When asked about that, Rogen “laughed nervously” before he said:

"We might have got a call from his camp just kind of asking what the story was. I’m not sure how that wrapped itself up."

So what is it exactly that they are upset about? The Tom Cruise joke is part of an overall plot point in which preachers have been blowing up all over the world due to a mysterious force from outer space. Cruise is one of the preachers that explodes, and we get to see it happen in a news report. The audience busted up laughing at this moment of the episode. I know I did! After seeing that I wondered how Cruise of Scientology might respond to it. Well, now we know. Rogen explained that he doesn't like dealing with these kinds of issues:

"I’m a coward. I try to avoid those kind of things at all costs."

Whatever kind of pressure they are getting from Cruise's people, I seriously doubt that AMC or the creative team will cave in and remove the scene. It's one of the highlights of the episode!

Preacher is set to hit AMC on May 22nd. While you wait, I've also included a new promo spot.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR — 2 New Clips, 5 TV Spots, and a Featurette

With Captain America: Civil War coming out in theaters this week, Marvel has detonated the marketing bomb. In the past couple of days, there have been two new clips from the film, five TV spots, and a featurette for you to watch. We all know that when it comes down to this point, Marvel starts pushing its films hard.

The first clip features Steve Rogers flexing his muscles as he tries to stop the Winter Solider from escaping in a helicopter. The clip will inspire you to want to go to the gym and work out. The second clip centers on Vision talking to Scarlet Witch about the Mind Stone that helped give him life.

As for the TV spots, they feature new footage of War Machine, Black Widow confronting Ant-Man, Iron Man taking on the Winter Solider, and more. Then there's the featurette, which focuses on Tony Stark/Iron Man and how his character arc over the course of eight years in the MCU has affected his relationship with Steve Rogers.

There's a lot of cool stuff to see below, but if you want to wait until the movie comes out before you see any more footage, that's understandable.

Incredibly Cool Behind The Scenes Documentary on ED, EDD N EDDY

This one really hit me in the childhood. The following documentary, surprisingly, comes from the bonus disc of the Ed, Edd n Eddy Game Boy Advance video game released in 2005, so obviously not a lot of people have seen it! I learned some crazy stuff about a show I loved growing up!

For example, did you know Ed, Edd, n Eddy didn't (at the time) air in Canada where it was made?! Crazy, right? Learn more below!

The Turtles Are Back in New TMNT: OUT OF THE SHADOWS Trailer

0

Paramount has released a brand new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and while it's mostly comprised of footage we've seen in other trailers and TV spots, there's also a bit of new footage mixed in. Each Turtle is introduced by Michelangelo, almost like a throwback to the intro to the old animated TV series, and there's a gag involving a new addition to the tricked-out Turtlemobile as well. I don't know if it's just me or what, but the marketing for this movie has made me go back and forth about whether I want to see this film or not. It's like every time a new trailer or video comes out, it counteracts the effect of the previous one. After watching this, I think I'm probably going to end up skipping this movie altogether.

Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows rolls into theaters on June 3rd.

Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn Get Wild in BAD MOMS Red-Band Trailer

0
0

STX Entertainment has just released a red-band trailer and green-band trailer for the new comedy Bad Moms, starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn as three over-stressed, over-worked moms who rebel against societal conventions and the cadre of PTA parents (led by Christina Applegate) and decide to let it all hang out in a booze-fueled binge of irresponsible behavior. It's no surprise, then, that this comes from the writers of The Hangover, who seem to love making movies featuring characters who throw responsibility to the wind and let loose (The Hangover series, 21 & Over, etc).

Let us know what you think about these trailers below. Bad Moms hits theaters on July 29th.

In this new comedy from the writers of The Hangover, Amy has a seemingly perfect life - a great marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However she's over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she's about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities - going on a wild, un-mom-like binge of long overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence - putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.

Guy Recreates Jurassic Park For His Tortoise!

When it came time to house his tortoise, Oliver Turpin spared no expense. He recreated the entrance and main area of Jurassic Park for his tortoise, Louise! That's pretty cool, no doubt, but I hope building this enclosure was the ONLY thing Turpin had in mind! Hopefully there aren't little gnomes in there making genetically superior tortoises that kill for sport!

Even GHOSTBUSTERS Star Melissa McCarthy Thought The Trailer Was Confusing

0
0

When the first trailer for Paul Feig's Ghostbusters movie came out, it received a big reaction online. Some liked it, many didn't (it's been pointed out that trolls have made this the most "disliked" movie trailer in YouTube history), but one thing that bothered a lot of people was the wording of the text in the trailer: "30 Years Ago, Four Scientists Saved New York. This Summer, A New Team Will Answer The Call." That makes it seem like a sequel that's directly linked to the events of the original movies, but in actuality, this movie pretends those films don't exist.

Fans weren't the only ones who were left scratching their heads. Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy thought the trailer was confusing and voiced her concerns to Sony, but nothing happened. On the Johnjay & Rich Show, McCarthy talked about what happened:

"It’s a reboot. It's weird that they said '30 years ago,' because in the movie, the first one didn't happen. It's a great story but told totally differently. It’s the same thing of four unlikely heroes, it’s in New York City, ghosts are taking over. It’s the same classic story but it’s not a '30 years later.' The trailer said '30 years later,' which I didn't quite get myself, but it's not dependent on the first one...Believe me, the question was asked. I think that it’s very confusing. But then everyone said 'we don’t care what you think' [laughs]."

When the star is confused by the trailer for her own movie, somebody in the marketing department screwed up. It's been a couple of months since that trailer came out, so a new one should be coming soon, and we'll see if Sony can course correct in time to convince general audiences that this isn't a direct sequel.

Ghostbusters comes out on July 15th.
