Make Your Own STAR WARS Riot Baton To Hunt Down Traitors

TR-8R has become a cult favorite of the new Star Wars universe. His boldness and abandon in going after Finn in the film, wielding only a stun baton, has earned him a Facebook page and the admiration of Empire sympathizers worldwide. I'm probably going to freak out the first time I see someone cosplaying him, so to better my hopes of doing that, here's a "how to" on how to create the Empire "stun baton" from the film.

It is just under one year left until the premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Set to drop in theaters on December 16th this year, the story of the Star Wars spinoff takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The live action film focuses on the lives of a group of resistance fighters who set out on a mission to steal the plans for the first Death Star.

Some of the cast includes Felicity Jones, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Wen Jiang, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Jonathan Aris and Ben Mendelsohn.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Mendelsohn shared:

“I wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone on those levels...But you can expect something pretty special, I'd like to think. I was in the audience for number seven and it was delightful. It exceeded my wildest hopes and dreams for what it might be. It's a beautiful film. So we've got something to reach for and that's a good thing."

Although they are being really secretive about Rogue One, I hope they will release more spicy details sometime soon!

Watch: THE WIZARD OF OZ Edited in Alphabetical Order is Totally Hypnotic

When was the last time you saw The Wizard of Oz? I actually caught it on TV a few days before Christmas, and it's still pretty damn amazing to think about how that film was made in 1939. But here's something else that's completely mind-blowing: Matt Bucy re-edited the entire movie to appear in alphabetical order. And while someone else did this with Star Wars a year or so ago, Bucy took it a step further and actually reorganized all of the text in the opening credits to be alphabetical as well.

The result is completely mesmerizing. DangerousMinds.net (via Uproxx) spoke with Bucy about the project, and I've included a brief passage from that interview below the video:

Dangerous Minds: GOOD GOD, MAN, WHY DID YOU DO THIS CRAZY THING?
Matt Bucy: It was a challenge from a friend, Ray Guillette, to do something never done before. While on a short road trip, he said he didn’t think anything original was possible. I said nonsense! He asked for an example. I hatched the idea then, pretty much complete, and we riffed on the idea for a while. Then I totally forgot about it. But a couple years later he asked me when I was going to make this original thing. I said I’d hop on it right away and thanked him for saving the project!
DM: When was this done and how long did it take?
MB: The idea was hatched in 2001 (I think) and then I actually did it in April 2004. It has been shown sporadically since then, most recently at MIX in NYC a couple years ago.
It didn’t take too long. In a couple of days I wrote a bit of code to help disassemble the movie, then the disassembly took me and another friend three days to complete. It was a manual process but it went very quickly. It was pretty difficult to speak after a day of disassembly! It really messed with my head. The credits took another day. I had to wait for the right moody clouds to show up where I live so I could re-shoot the sky pan that lies under the credits. In total no more than a week of work.

Model Kelly Rohrbach to Play Pam Anderson's Character in BAYWATCH Movie

The Baywatch movie cast continues to head up. We know Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron are playing the male leads and Alexandra Daddario scored the female lead, but now Variety reports that model Kelly Rohrbach will be playing the role of C.J. Parker, which was originated by Pamela Anderson on the '90s TV series.

Rohrbach has had a handful of small roles in the past, including stints on Rizzoli & Isles, Two and a Half Men, and the CW Seed series The P.E.T. Squad Files, but this will be her most high-profile role by a long shot. (She also has an undisclosed role in one of Woody Allen's upcoming movies.)

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the latest draft of the script, which will be directed by Seth Gordon (The King of Kong, Horrible Bosses) for Paramount. Johnson released some profanity-laden Instagram videos welcoming Rohrbach to the team:

For our #BAYWATCH and the iconic role of "CJ Parker" I had to make sure @kellyrohrbach was gorgeous running in SLO-MO....

SHERLOCK: THE ABOMINABLE BRIDE — What Did You Think?

$

It's been almost two years since fans have seen a new episode of the fantastic BBC series Sherlock, and on New Year's Day, we were finally able to see the highly-anticipated Sherlock: The Abominable Bride. I'm creating this post largely as a place for you, the readers, to discuss your thoughts about the episode in the comments, but I'll toss out a few of my brief thoughts to get things started. (Obviously, spoilers are going to be all over the place from here on out.)

I liked how the concept of taking a modernized Sherlock and putting it in Victorian times played out as a drug-fueled trip through Sherlock's Mind Palace. Considering this was supposed to be a holiday special, I was wondering if they would basically ignore the revelation at the end of last season in order to simply provide a fun one-off story that wouldn't have any relevance to the series as a whole. That would have been fine, but I think I preferred the way they handled it here; instead of just a fun diversion, we got an episode that is absolutely crucial to seeing how Sherlock deals with the apparent return of Moriarty. I enjoyed the duality of the Ricoletti case and Moriarty's suicide, the ghost story vibe, Sherlock and Watson's banter (with Mrs. Hudson, as well), the suffragette subplot, and little touches like the envisioning of the Reichenbach Falls, an important location to the lore of the literary character. Fat Mycroft? Eh, not so much.

What did you all think about The Abominable Bride?

First Teaser Trailer For LOVE, Judd Apatow's Netflix Series

Fresh off the largely positive reception of Trainwreck, director Judd Apatow has teamed with actor/writer Paul Rust (Comedy Bang! Bang!, Inglourious Basterds) and Lesley Arfin (Girls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) to create, executive produce, and write a new show called Love, which stars Rust and Community's Gillian Jacobs.

The show was picked up by Netflix back in September of 2014, and now the streaming service has finally unveiled a release date: all ten thirty-minute episodes of the show's first season will be available to stream starting on Friday, February 19th. Netflix has already greenlit a second season, but there's no word yet on when that will pop up. Check out the official synopsis and the first teaser trailer below, and let us know what you think:

Love follows nice guy Gus (Rust) and brazen wild-child Mickey (Gillian Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, love and other things they were hoping to avoid. Love is an unflinching, hilarious and excruciatingly honest take on modern relationships.

Bad Lip Reading's "Bushes of Love," a STAR WARS Song You'll Have Stuck in Your Head For Days

We've already written about Bad Lip Reading's funny take on the original Star Wars, but this new video from BLR is even more ridiculous than usual. It's a song called "Bushes of Love," which they imagine as an insane song performed by Obi-Wan Kenobi as he lectures young Luke Skywalker about the perils of love. Consider yourselves warned: if you watch/listen to this, it will very likely be stuck in your head for an indeterminate amount of time. As you might expect, the lyrics are utterly nonsensical, but I have to admit, the melody is pretty catchy.

New DOCTOR STRANGE Concept Art Shows Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum

new-doctor-strange-concept-art-shows-stranges-sanctum-sanctorum

Marvel has added a new piece of Doctor Strange concept art to the collection of goodies they've released. This shows Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange spending some time in his base of operations, the Sanctum Sanctorum, which is located in New York’s Greenwich Village. If you're not familiar with the Sanctum Santorum, here's a description from Marvel:

The odd three-story townhouse at 177A Bleecker Street in New York's Greenwich Village is known in some circles as the residence of occult expert Doctor Strange. Few, however, realize that it is also the Sanctum Sanctorum of Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.
The site upon which the townhouse was built was one of pagan sacrifices and arcane American Indian rituals, dating back-untold generations. The structure of the townhouse and the grounds beneath it have become a focal point for supernatural energies. It was this "aura" that originally attracted Doctor Strange to the dwelling at the onset of his mystical career. The house, reputed by local residents to be haunted, is indeed magically "alive."
Among the many oddities of the building is that there would appear to be more space inside that would seem from without. There are labyrinthine corridors and seemingly endless successions of rooms. Furthermore, the arrangement of room, hallways, and furniture seems to change from time to time, apparently by itself. There, are, however, a number of rooms that remain constant in location and appearance.
The Sanctum Sanctorum is protected from magical invasion by an intricate, permanent spell of mystical force constructed by Doctor Strange to interweave with the house's inherent energies.

The movie co-stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton. Here's the synopsis:

Doctor Strange tells the story of Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch), an acclaimed neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near-fatal car accident. The film will show audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored.

The movie opens in theaters on November 4th, 2016. To catch up on all the latest Doctor Strange movie news, click here.

Michael Bay Confirms He’s Directing TRANSFORMERS 5 and It Will Be His Last

Just in case you were wondering… Yes, Michael Bay is directing Transformers 5. It’s been rumored in the past, but nothing has really been made official until now. While talking to Rolling Stone about his upcoming action thriller 13 Hours, Bay confirms that he’ll step back into the directing chair.

Bay has been involved with a lot of films, and he’s currently in post-production on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 as a producer. While talking to the magazine, he said:

“‘I’m doing Transformers ... 5, is it?" Bay says, temporarily losing track. He shakes his head. ‘I’ve taken on a lot of work.’”

The last time he talked about it, he wasn’t committed. I never had any doubt that Bay would come back to direct Transformers 5. I really wish he’d pass it off to someone else. I like it when he makes other movies outside of the franchise. But maybe he’s got something better up his sleeve this time around. He does go on to say that this will be his last one, but we’ve heard that before!

“Transformers, I still have a great time. It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else.”

Transformers 5 will be the start of a whole cinematic universe that Paramount Pictures plans on developing. They’ve plotted out the next ten years of the franchise!

Akiva Goldsman is leading a team of writers to bring these films to life. The writers that are a part of this team include Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), who will script the animated film. Then there's The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Jeff Pinkner (Lost), Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk), Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Christina Hodson (Black List), Steven DeKnight (Daredevil), and Lindsey Beer, who is a science major at Stanford, who has also written original specs for sci-fi and fantasy stories.

Hopefully these writers turn out better stories and scripts than what Bay has used for his Transformers films in the past.

DEADPOOL Blatant BACHELOR-Baiting TV Spot with 2% Real Roses

"Never judge a book by its cover - unless it’s the Kama Sutra (then we can be flexible)."

So the Deadpool marketing team thought it'd be funny to premiere a new TV spot for the film during the premiere of The Bachelor. I've never watched an episode of The Bachelor in my life, and I imagine not many Deadpool fans have watched it either. I guess they are trying to get the movie in front of the eyes of people who have never heard of Deadpool? It amusingly focuses on the "love story" aspect of the film, and it shows a bit of new footage of film's leading lady, Morena Baccarin, in action.

Deadpool is set to be released on February 12th, 2016. We're almost there, everybody!

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

The movie also stars Ryan Reynolds, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand

Krang Confirmed for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2

It has previously been rumored that the evil alien Krang would make an appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Well, now producer Michael Bay has confirmed it! During an interview with Rolling Stone, Bay talks about the weird brain creature with the effects team working on the film about how the character will look. Here’s the part of that interview:

“They start with Ninja Turtles animation. Pablo Helman, a visual-effects supervisor who worked on the Star Wars prequels, appears onscreen and shows Bay the latest version of Krang, a new-to-the-movies villain who is, essentially, a disembodied brain inside a giant robot. ‘So we've eliminated the tentacles,’ Helman explains. ‘Is it too monster-ish?’
“‘He could have some tentacles,’ says Bay. ‘I just don't want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus.’”

So at least we know that Krang won’t look like a stupid octopus! A lot of people are excited for this sequel. Hopefully, it lives up to their expectations. Are you happy to know that Krang will be introduced into this next chapter of the story?

Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, and Noel Fisher will reprise their roles as Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo. Johnny Knoxville is providing the voice of Leonardo again. The movie also sees the return of Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and William Fichtner as Eric Sacks. Some of the newcomers include Tyler Perry as scientist Baxter Stockman, WWE Star Sheamus as Rocksteady, Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop, Brittany Ishibashi as Karai, Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and Brian Tee as Shredder.

The movie is being directed by Earth to Echo‘s David Green, and it will be released on June 3rd, 2016. For all of the previous TMNT 2 news we've posted, click here.

Marvel has released a great new TV spot for Marvel’s Agent Carter season two, and it features some fun new footage for your enjoyment. This second season looks like it’s going to be an exciting chapter in Agent Carter’s story. We recently posted a new synopsis for the series that gives us even more information on what this next season will entail. In case you missed it, I posted it below the new promo for you.

Dedicated to the fight against new Atomic Age threats in the wake of World War II, Agent Peggy Carter journeys from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous – and bizarre – assignment yet. East Coast SSR Chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) sends Peggy to work with newly appointed West Coast SSR Chief Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) to explore a strange homicide involving a body that glows and emanates cold.
Upon her arrival, Peggy reunites with Howard Stark’s (Dominic Cooper) butler and her loyal partner-in-crime, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), who welcomes her to the Hollywood life and sets her up at Stark’s mansion. There, Peggy meets Ana (Lotte Verbeek), Jarvis’ free-spirited and devoted wife to whom she takes an immediate liking.
Eventually, the odd investigation leads Peggy to quirky yet charming scientist Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), who quickly becomes an ally — and sparks fly. As Peggy continues to find clues in this peculiar case, she is introduced to the machinations of Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett), a movie starlet, brilliant physicist and the true power behind husband and senatorial candidate Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham). Calvin, a politician who will do anything to get to the top, befriends Vernon Masters (Kurtwood Smith), a veteran of the War Department with a keen understanding of how to work the system. Peggy soon discovers that corruption seemingly runs deep, making it hard to distinguish the good versus the bad.
The search comes full circle when Russian spy Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan) returns into Peggy’s life in a new and unexpected way. But even as Peggy discovers a new city, both old and new friends – and potentially a new love – she’s about to learn the bright lights of post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.
“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Agent Peggy Carter, James D’Arcy (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”) as Edwin Jarvis, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Chief Daniel Sousa, Wynn Everett (“The Newsroom,” “Charlie Wilson’s War”) as Whitney Frost, Reggie Austin (“Life Unexpected,” “Devious Maids”) as Jason Wilkes, and Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Chief Jack Thompson.
“Agent Carter” returns to ABC Jan. 19.

The One Line of Dialogue Quentin Tarantino Cut Out of THE HATEFUL EIGHT

$

The Hateful Eight was one of my favorite movies of 2015, and as you know, Quentin Tarantino doesn’t really shy away from putting controversial things in his films. A lot of people will find a lot of things offensive about the filmmaker's recent movie. The Hateful Eight is set in the post-Civil War period of American history, and some of the major themes associated with that are race and bigotry. There was one thing that he cut out of the film, though. It was a line of dialogue spoken by Walton Goggins, who plays Sherriff Chris Mannix. The line was:

“You ask the white folks in South Carolina if they feel safe.”

This line would have been spoken by Mannix early on in the film to Major Marquis Warren, who was played by Samuel L. Jackson. It’s part of Mannix’s view of race relations.

Why was it cut out? Because of the tragic shooting that took place at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, South Carolina. A domestic terrorist fired on a number of black churchgoers in the name of white supremacy and the Confederate flag.

When the line of dialogue was written, obviously no one expected something like that to happen. After it did, though, the line took on a whole new meaning that was beyond what was intended in the film, so Tarantino cut it.

In the same interview with The Telegraph, the director talked about his distaste for the confederate flag, saying that it is the American swastika. Tarantino said:

“All of a sudden, people started talking about the Confederacy in America in a way they haven’t before. I mean, I’ve always felt the Rebel flag was some American Swastika. And, well, now, all of a sudden, people are talking about it, and now they’re banning it, and now it’s not OK to have it on f______ licence plates, and coffee cups, and stuff.
“And people are starting to question about stuff like statues of Bedford Forrest [the Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard] in parks. Well, it’s about damn time, if you ask me.”

It makes sense to me that Tarantino decided to cut the line. What do you think about Tarantino's statements here?

Zack Snyder Hints at Bigger Villain for JUSTICE LEAGUE

After the recent trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, many fans wondered why they showed so much, especially with the reveal of Doomsday. Doomsday is one of the deadliest villains in the DC universe. This is the monster that actually killed Superman in the comics. Since the release of the trailer, we learned that that there will be an even bigger threat than Doomsday. There's a possibility that could carry over into Justice League.

During a recent interview with Obsev, director Zack Snyder teases a bigger villain in Justice League, talks about how Ben Affleck is amazing as Batman, and explains why Batman v Superman is a fun film.

"We're working on Justice League right now, right? In a weird way, Justice League is the next step for these characters to form a bigger team. Maybe there's a bigger enemy to fight."

Of course, there's a bigger villain to fight! There has to be some kind of reason for all these heroes to band together. Who could this villain be? Well, there have been rumors that it could be Darkseid or Brainiac. Nothing is confirmed yet, but they are certainly possibilities.

Snyder goes on to say that "[Affleck] is an amazing Batman... He's a great Batman." I wouldn't expect the director to say anything less about his leading man. It's not like he's going to come out and say that Affleck sucks in the role. From what I've seen in the trailers, though, the actor does look like he gives a solid performance, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. As for what the director finds fun about Batman v Superman, he explains:

“I think the fun of the movie is that in the end it’s a drama. They have to figure out each other to fight each other. So it’s about what makes them tick and how that’s going to work out in a conflict.”

You can watch the entire interview below. Who do you think the big bad villain in Justice League will be? Do you think Snyder is going to deliver DC fans movie entertainment that they will be happy with? Batman v Superman is set to be released on March 25th, 2016.

New VOLTRON Series and Guillermo del Toro’s TROLLHUNTERS Coming to Netflix

$

0

Netflix and DreamWorks Animation have announced that they are expanding their current deal, and there seems to be some pretty cool content coming along with it. Netflix will be the home of several new original series that DreamWorks Animation will develop. Those series include Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters and a new reimagining of the classic 80s animated series Voltron! The deal also gives Netflix the streaming rights to the DreamWorks Animation feature film library.

When Trollhunters was originally announced, it was supposed to be an animated feature film. It looks like things have changed since it will be a series. Del Toro previously talked about why he was going to take on Trollhunters saying:

"I wanted very much to develop a story that could be written for kids but dealt with a genre that was scary. It essentially combines fairy tales with modern times and is about how difficult it is to be kid. Normally, kids are idealized in animated films. But the growing pains, married with the notion that there is a world right next to us that is completely plagued by creatures of ancient lore, it's thematically fitting with the rest of my stuff."

I'm excited for Trollhunters, and I can't wait to see what Del Toro will do with it. As for this new Voltron series, this is the first I've heard of it. I'm sure we'll get more information on it sometime in the near future. I'm a huge fan of the original Voltron, so I hope that this new reimagining of it will be decent, and be something that the fans will embrace.

Here's some additional information from the press release regarding the deal between Netflix and DreamWorks Animation and what it will entail:

In addition, the deal extends the rights of current original series for kids from the studio available on the service throughout operating Netflix markets as well as expanding to include second window rights for the series everywhere around the world, outside of China. The series include “The Adventures of Puss in Boots,” “Dinotrux” and “Dragons: Race to the Edge,” among others.
Starting in 2016, Netflix will launch several new series from DWA, including a reimagining of Voltron, and the new series, Trollhunters, from master storyteller Guillermo del Toro, who will unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around two best friends who make a startling discovery beneath their hometown.
Over the term of the new agreement, a number of new original series will be developed and produced by DreamWorks Animation for Netflix, based not only on recent and upcoming feature films from the studio, but also on other classic IP.
“DreamWorks Animation is synonymous with great storytelling that families around the world enjoy,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Series for Netflix. “It’s with great pleasure that we expand on an already successful relationship with DreamWorks Animation to bring more premium kids and family television to Netflix members globally.”
“This agreement adds to the incredible foundation we’ve built together with Netflix over a number of years across both film and television,” said Ann Daly, President of DreamWorks Animation. “We are proud to work closely with Netflix to continue delivering high-quality programming to audiences around the world.”

Robbie Amell Confirms Major Character Change for THE FLASH

*Spoilers for The Flash are within this post! Be warned as I can't use the speed force to go back in time and make you unsee it.*

When it comes to spoilers for shows he appears on, Robbie Amell has no chill! I swear I've seen him post so many spoilers for The Flash the minute the cat's out of the bag. The actor took to social media after reports surfaced at Entertainment Weekly that he would be returning to the show...but not as Firestorm! Ronnie Raymond will return to the Flash universe as none other than Deathstorm.

For the uninitiated, Deathstorm in the comics is the resurrected Ronnie Raymond who controls the Black Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night story line. Originally a villain, Ronnie does eventually regain his senses and assumes a normal life once more.

This version will not coincide with the comics. In fact, Amell will be Earth 2 Ronnie, so it's assumed this will not be a canonical take on the Deathstorm character. It does also leave a slim chance that there will be a mention of the Green Lantern, although we would all absolutely s*** a brick if that did by some miracle happen. There is a possibility, however, that we'll finally see Ronnie and Caitlin happy together if the newest season trailer is any indication!

The Flash returns January 19th!
