Want To Smell Like a New Apple Product? There's a Fragrance for That

Nothing beats that smell of opening up the package of a new MacBook Pro you just bought. A new fragrance by Air Aroma apparently captures that distinct smell of an Apple product unboxing. The scent was created for an upcoming exhibit taking place in Melborne, called De facto Standard.

The scent created for Greatest Hits encompasses the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China.

I find this hilariously odd. Sure it a nice smell for a few minutes while unboxing the Apple product, but I don't think I would go out smelling like one! I'm sure you're all dying to know how they made the fragrance, well...

The creation process included suppliers in the South of France sending over samples of fragrances with the aromas of glue, plastic, rubber and paper. The samples were then used as ingredients by Air Aroma fragrance designers to create a range of signature blend fragrances.

To complete the fragrance they observed the unboxing of a new Apple computer to source fragrance samples. On completion the laptop was sent back to Australia, together with the scent of an Apple Macbook Pro.

Would you actually go out on a date smelling like a brand new MacBook Pro?
