Last week we reported a list of directors that were being considered to helm The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. The Playlist is reporting that Bennett Miller (Moneyball) and Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) are also in the mix to direct.
Miller has a handle on dramatic elements, but this would be his first action film. He has been wanting to make Foxcatcher, the true crime passion project he's been intent on making since Capote. Mark Ruffalo just signed on to star, so it will be interesting to see which project he will move forward with.
Lawrence got his start directing music videos, and most recently directed Water For Elephants. He has no other projects on the side, and could jump right into directing. Simon Beaufoy's first draft of the script reportedly needs work before filming begins. Filming could start as early as August to meet the scheduled release date of November 22, 2013.
I loved the first film, and would love to see Lawrence behind the camera. Who would you like to see direct the sequel?
