Fantastic Full Trailer For The FALLOUT Series - "The End of the World is Not What is Used To Be"

0

Prime Video has released the full trailer for its highly-anticipated live-action series adaption of the hit video game Fallout! This series looks freakin’ awesome and it perfectly captures the fun retro-apocalyptic visual style and spirit of the games!

The trailer gives us our best look yet at the series and the story that it will tell, and more insight on the characters that will fill that story. I’m so happy to see that it looks like the creative team may have actually made a great Fallout adaptation!

Fallout is the story of “haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.”

The world of Fallout is “one where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. In Fallout, the harshness of the wasteland is set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy. It is serious in tone, yet sprinkled with moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies.”

As for the series, it is set in future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, and it will tell an original story based on the Fallout games and this new story will be part of the canon of the games.

The series comes from Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and it stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and more.

Fallout is set to arrive on Prime Video on April 12th, 2024. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think!

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Actor Tim Blake Nelson Says the Leader Will Return "In a Big Way"

0
0

Tim Blake Nelson made his debut as Samuel Sterns / The Leader in the MCU in The Incredible Hulk way back in 2008, and all these years later, he will be making his return in Captain America: Brave New World. In that movie, The Leader will face off with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson / Captain America.

During a recent interview with CB, Nelson once again confirmed that he’s in the move and teased that The Leader is going to have big role in the story. He said:

"You're gonna see me in a big way. What they've come up with is great."

Director Julius Onah previously talked about The Leader being the main villain of the movie and said this villain is was drew him to the film project:

"Let's just say one of the things that really drew me to this project is The Leader is a man who operates from intellect, and so it's great to have an adversary who is working with this incredible intellect to really, you know, put Sam through the wringer in this story. And again, as a paranoid thriller, is this grounded adventure where I think that everything that happens in this film feels so real and intense, because of who this adversary is. So, back to that other question of yours, what he's going to have to go through in this film is because he's got an adversary who is so terrifyingly intelligent."

The filmmaker went on to say:

"There's a lot we're going to bring to the table. And this is a new set of challenges and a new set of adversaries. I love classic paranoid thrillers and that's a big part of the inspiration of this film. We want to find an action that is grounded and tactile and give him new things to do that we haven't seen in those other films, and I don't want to spoil too much, but let's just say we are planning some really, really exciting things.

The Leader was originally supposed to return in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but those plans obviously got ditched. Showrunner Jessica Gao previously said:

"In my original pitch, I did have The Leader in there. Just as an option, as a suggestion, you know? But really, I can't remember why [it was scrapped]. I don't remember if it was organically taken out, because we just came up with other stuff, or if we were told no. I honestly don't remember. But there was thought about either bringing him back or doing some version of a new version of Leader, or some relation to him. But, I mean truly, this was three years ago, and the show has evolved so much that I don't remember what actually happened."

I’m excited to see Tim Blake Nelson back in the MCU, and I love that he is going to have a big meaty role in Captain America: Brave New World!

The movie will hit theaters on February 14th, 2025.

Director Chad Stahelski Signs Second Deal With Lionsgate to Develop Action Films Outside of JOHN WICK and THE HIGHLANDER

Director Chad Staheliski already has a deal in place at Lionsgate where he will continue to develop the John Wick franchise as well as build out a franchise for The Highlander reboot he’s been developing. Now he’s got a second deal with Lionsgate in place.

This new production deal will see the filmmaker and his 87Eleven Entertainment label producing original action movies for the studio outside of what he’s doing for John Wick and The Highlander.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Chair Adam Fogelson said in a statement: “Chad and his team at 8711 Entertainment are profoundly talented filmmakers and creative collaborators. They raise the bar of excellence on every project they take on, and we are looking to Chad to bring us the best new original action projects that we can work on together and turn into the next hits and franchises.”

Stahelski added: “Lionsgate has been my home studio throughout my career as a feature director, so it only makes sense that I would base our film production business with the team that has been such extraordinary partners for so many years.”

Stahelski is a master when it comes to crafting action films, and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of films he ends up procuring with Lionsgate.

Marvel Studios has released a fun new poster for X-Men ’97 and it reveals the titles of the episodes that make up the first season. What I love about the post is that it’s inspired by those magazines kids used to buy in the ‘90s, like Disney Adventures.

The list of episode titles is as follows:

  • To Me, My X-Men – March 20

  • Mutant Liberation Begins – March 20

  • Fire Made Flesh – March 27

  • Motendo/Lifedeath, Pt. 1 – April 3

  • Remember It – April 10

SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE Teases Miles Morales vs. Miles G. Morales

The social media accounts for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse have started teasing the story that will be presented to fans. The movie's X account shared “Miles Morales v. Miles G. Morales” along with both of their logos next to each other.

I’m sure you all remember that cliffhanger ending for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, which featured Miles Morales stuck in the wrong universe facing off against a variant of himself, Miles G. Morales, who happens to be the Prowler. So of course it makes sense that the two are going to battle each other as MIles has to find a way back home, and he also has to stop The Spot.

I love the idea of our hero having to face off with the evil version of himself. It will make for an interesting story and when talking about the conclusion to the story, producer Phil Lord promised that this final chapter in will leave fans satisfied and they also offered some additional insight into what’s going on in Miles’ head as his story continues.

Lord said: "It will be a very satisfying conclusion. It goes even more emotionally deep into the relationships between Miles, Gwen, Peter B., [and Miles’] parents."

When talking about the cliffhanger ending, he said: "The big thing that’s interesting for Miles [in Beyond the Spider-Verse] is how do you deal with a sense of betrayal and turn it into something affirmative? And I think that the thing that we try to do with these movies is represent goodness and show how the love that the characters in the movie have for Miles translates into his growth and success."

Are you excited to experience the conclusion to this epic Spider-Verse animated film series?

A Continuation of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Story Is Reportedly "100% Coming" but There's a Catch

0
0

Ever since Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appeared as their versions of Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been hoping that one day we would see them again, and see their stories continue. There have been rumors about their possible return, but nothing has been made official.

It’s been rumored that Garfield has been approached by Marvel about joining Avengers: Secret Wars. It was also reported that Sony want Garfield and Maguire back for Spider-Man 4.

The latest report comes from Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, who says that a continuation of Garfield’s Peter Parker story is definitely coming, but there’s a catch… it won’t coming in a standalone film. He explained: "I really don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up with this because the chances of him getting a full blown movie are very minimal. A continuation of his story is 100% coming but it’s not going to warrant another film at this point in time."

When asked if the same applies to Maguire, he responded with a GIF saying, "It's a little bit different.” He did add any additional details. So, that’s all up in the air. All I know is that there’s got to be some kind of talk going on to get these actors suited up as Spider-Man again and back in action.

Garfield previously talked about the potential of continuing his story as Spider-Man in another movie, saying that there is endless potential: "The story never ends, whether we film it or not. There's a story happening in a universe somewhere. There's endless potential with this character and all the different iterations. So, yeah, he's definitely out there doing something."

I’m curious to see what will come of all this, but I do hope that we see Garfield and Maguire again in the MCU one day.

GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE Clip Sees That Chase After the Hell's Kitchen Sewer Dragon

Sony Pictures has shared the first clip from the upcoming film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire! This is a fun and exciting scene that sees Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd), Callie Spengler (Carrie Coon), and Phoebe (McKenna Grace) racing through the streets of NYC in the ECTO-1 as they are chasing down Hell’s Kitchen Sewer Dragon.

In an effort to bust the ghost, Phoebe uses the vehicle's side-chair to get a better shot at the dragon with her proton pack. As you might imagine, her mom is not happy. Gary on the other hand is enjoying the experience! Enjoy the clip!

Oh, and tickets are on sale right now!

In the story, New York City finds itself freezing over due to an ancient artifact that unleashes an evil force! Also, the original. In the movie, “the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

During a recent interview, Nanjiani said that the movie will up the ante somewhat when it comes to genuine frights: “There’s some really, genuinely scary stuff. The scary stuff is actually scary. The danger is very real and the stakes are very high. That makes the comedy even funnier,” adding that, “Everybody gets to be funny.”

Ghostbusters: Afterlife director and co-writer Jason Reitman serves as writer and executive producer on the new film. The movie also stars Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, comedian James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind have joined the cast! They join returning cast members Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson are also back in action with Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz suiting up for some ghost-busting action.

The film is scheduled to be released on March 29th, 2024.

New Trailer for INSIDE OUT 2 Features a New Group of Emotions Taking Over Riley's Mind

Disney has released a new trailer for Pixar’s Inside Out 2, and this trailer offers a lot more details on the story that this sequel is going to tell. A whole new group of emotions is revealed in the trailer including Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment.

These new emotions come in and take over Riley’s mind, while the other emotions of Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger are bottled up. They then find themselves on a mission to fix things. It looks like this is going to be a fun sequel! Also, have been a father of teenage girls, this is going to bring back some fun memories.

Director Kelsey Mann talked about the character Anxiety, and how she is going to stir things up within headquarters. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat. That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”

In the sequel: “The little voices inside Riley's head know her inside and out—but next summer, everything changes. Pixar's Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who've long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren't sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she's not alone.”

The rest of the voice cast includes Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.

Inside Out 2 is set to release in theaters on June 14, 2024.

The first trailer has dropped for the new horror thriller Arcadian, which sees Nicolas Cage battling terrifying creatures that come out at night.

In Arcadian, “After a catastrophic event depopulates the world, a father and his two sons must survive their dystopian environment while being threatened by mysterious creatures that emerge at night.”

The story is set in a near future, where “normal life on Earth has been decimated. Paul and his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night. Every night, after the sun sets, they face the unrelenting attacks of a mysterious and violent evil. One day, when Thomas doesn’t return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive.”

Ben Brewer (The Trust) directed the film, and it also stars Jaeden Martell (IT), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga). The movie has A Quiet Place kind of vibe to it, but it still looks like a wild creature feature!

RLJE’s Mark Ward hyped up the film, saying: “Michael Nilon’s script deftly balances between the riveting thrills of a creature feature and the hopeful heart at the core of Paul’s family, played to perfection by Cage, Martel, and Jenkins.”

Arcadian will be released on April 12th.

A Nikola Tesla Biopic Trilogy Is in Development

0
0

Pioneering electrical engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla is getting a three feature films that will tell his life story. This is the first time I think I’ve ever heard of a biopic trilogy being developed, but that’s what’s happening here!

The project is set up at Showdog Studio, and it’s being developed and co-written by Tim Eaton, a visual effects veteran who has worked on films such as Men in Black, Twister and Beowulf.

The films will be based on the 1996 biography Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla and the 2021 biography Tesla: Wizard at War. It will also pull from various other research by the author of both works, Marc J. Seifer. The development team has received access to various other letters and artifacts from Tesla’s life to help in crafting the trilogy.

Showdog founder John Attard said in a statement: “We are proud to be working with Marc and Tim and believe they will be a strong vehicle through which we can explore how, in a world increasingly influenced by technology and its misuse, Tesla’s very human story about the burden of genius is a timely and cautionary tale we can learn from.

Executive producer Robert Harris added: “When people hear the word ‘Tesla’ today, there is a good chance that their first thought is of the automotive company of the same name. What isn’t evident is just how influential Nikola Tesla was in shaping the future and the cost it took from a man that was as complex as he was a genius. This is a human story about the sheer weight of greatness in a world that wishes to exploit it and there are so many stories to tell about an extraordinary figure whose career and life had so many twists and turns.”

If anyone deserves a full on feature film trilogy biopic, it’s Nikola Tesla. This guy’s story is absolutely incredible with the things he created, and also tragic as his life was also marked by financial difficulties and a reclusive lifestyle in his later years. He died on January 7, 1943, in New York City, largely unrecognized at the time for his contributions.

Nikola Tesla posthumously emerged as a symbol of scientific genius and innovation, with his legacy enduring in the numerous technologies and inventions that stemmed from his work.

MS. MARVEL Star Iman Vellani Has Been Assured By Marvel That She Will Return To The MCU

0
0

While Marvel’s Ms. Marvel series and The Marvels movie weren’t well received by critics and some fans, I want to say that Iman Vellani is fantastic in the role of Ms. Marvel! She is absolutely delightful and if she actually had a strong story and script to work with, she would shine even more.

The ending of The Marvels strongly hinted at the fact that Vellani would return as she is out in the MCU recruiting members for the Young Avengers. But after The Marvels had a disappointing box office run, Marvel and Disney might want to change up their plans.

Regardless, during an interview with Polygon, the actress said that she’s been assured by Marvel Studios that she'll be sticking around. She said:

"I have been assured. So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it."

She doesn’t know what exactly is next for her, but she knows she’ll suit back up and jump into action. Vellani has expressed her excitement for a Young Avengers movie, though, and she recently spoke in depth about the possibilities, and how she believes the Young Avengers will stand apart from the originals:

“They have perspectives that the older Avengers don't, especially because they've had to deal with the repercussions, but they're also a fan of the older Avengers. So I think they can really make this team-up something new. I think it'll be way more functional than the Avengers even were. I think Kamala being in charge might also set the tone in a really wonderful way. I think she's a natural-born leader.

She is not only the glue of the Marvels, but could be the glue of the younger Avengers group because she is mature and she is intelligent, and she also has all this knowledge about being superheroes and teamwork and how to do it in a way that's ideal and works for everyone. And she's probably learned so much from being on the Marvels, so she can bring that into the Young Avengers. But yeah, I think they'll definitely be a group that a lot of the younger audiences can resonate to and relate to way more. I think their opinions on social justice issues, I think their opinions on just the world in general and is what's needed is way more important.

They feel like the group that will understand humanity and the value of human life way more than I think the older group does because they're in it, right? They have relationships there. They're in school, they have their friends, they have their idols and their mentors. And I think all of those relationships will ground this group way more than we have mentors who's a billionaire, and you got a guy who was frozen from the 1940s. So they're definitely way more aware of reality.”

She also said: "I just want to see them interact. I think they've left so many of the younger character stories open-ended, and to see fans start shipping people together, it would be something like, I want to see Kamala interact with America. I want to see Kamala interact with Patriot, I don't know. Just all these random people. And so yeah, I think there's so many different avenues you could take with this."

Marvel Studios has got a lot of projects cooking, and right now we know that previously announced movie plans are being changed up. I’m really curious to see how Marvel tries to change things to tell better and stronger stories. Ms. Marvel fits in there somewhere, we’ll just have to wait to see what project it will be in.

THE ACCOUNTANT 2 Moving Forward with Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson

0
0

The Accountant 2 is moving forward and Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson have all signed up to reprise their roles in the film. The director of the original film, Gavin O’Connor, is also set to return to helm the movie from a script written by Bill Dubuque.

Affleck played a highly skilled CPA with autism named Christian Wolff in the first film and he leads a double life as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations. When he uncovers discrepancies in a legitimate robotics company, he must navigate a dangerous web of deceit while staying one step ahead of both the law and his criminal clients.

Bernthal plays Christian’s brother Brax, with Simmons as Ray King, the Director of the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. Addai-Robinson took on the role of Marybeth Medina, who was tasked with unearthing The Accountant’s real identity.

The sequel’s plot “is thrust into motion when Medina’s former boss is killed by unknown assassins, and she’s forced to contact Christian to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax, Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive — all intent on putting a stop to their search.”

I loved the first movie and I’m excited about this sequel! These are all just such interesting characters, and it’ll be great to see them explored further in the sequel.

Blumhouse's IMAGINARY Was Heavily Influenced By Guillermo del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH

0
0

Jeff Wadlow, the writer and director of Blumhouse’s upcoming creepy horror movie Imaginary, recently offered some insight into the fantasy influences behind the film’s story and the creation of the Never-Ever, which is an otherworldly universe and kingdom of imagination that the characters eventually find themselves in.

During a recent interview with GamesRadar, Wadlow was asked about the fantasy elements of the film and the Never-Ever, and he shared that one of the big influences behind it that he mentions was Guillermo del Toro’s classic film, Pan’s Labyrinth:

"I’m a huge fan of the fantasy genre, and Labyrinth was a major touchstone for us. So was Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, all the works of Lewis Carroll. And also children's book authors like Maurice Sendak [who created 'Where the Wild Things Are'] really influenced the look and feel of the film. But one of our major touchstones was Pan’s Labyrinth, which I think is the best horror fantasy film made in recent memory."

The filmmaker went on to talk about some of the creatures in the film and said that they got the same animatronic and practical effects house that works on the films of Del Toro, to work on this movie. That company is Spectral Motion. Wadlow said:

"We have this spider monster in our movie […] that’s a contortionist who can move his body in amazing ways in a real spider suit designed by Spectral Motion, who made all the monsters for most of Guillermo Del Toro’s movies."

As for the influence of Alice in Wonderland, Wadlow said, with a grin: "It’s not an accident that our little girl is called Alice."

It’s explained that the movie “taps into the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: Are they really figments of childhood imagination or is something more terrifying lying just beneath?”

In the film, “When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.”

Imaginary hits theaters on March 8, 2024, from Blumhouse and Lionsgate.

JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK Director Explains Why The Tom Cruise Sequel Flopped

0
0

You know what’s funny? I actually forgot that Tom Cruise made a sequel to his 2012 action film Jack Reacher, which is based on Lee Child’s book series. The sequel is titled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and it was released in 2016. I don’t remember much from the sequel, but it co-starred Cobie Smulders.

The sequel bombed at the box office with only $58.7 million domestically. So, what went wrong with this movie? Why is it so forgettable and why did it bomb at the box office? The film’s director recently weighed in on that in his book, “Hits, Flops, and Other Illusions: My Fortysomething Years in Hollywood.”

Zwick took over for Christopher McQuarrie, who directed the first film, and when talking about what the problem was with the sequel, he said:

‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,’ which Tom Cruise and I made in 2016, fizzled at the box office. I blame myself (and my willing accomplice, Don Granger) for thinking the audience might enjoy a mash-up of ‘Jack Reacher’ and ‘Paper Moon,’ when in fact they just wanted more red meat. I had a wonderful time working with Cobie Smulders, and I certainly don’t blame Tom for not being six two — as the novelist Lee Child described his protagonist — and should Tom happen to call about making a third movie together, I’ll definitely pick up.

For me, it’s just hard to buy Cruise as Jack Reacher. That was easily one of the most miscast roles in Hollywood. Alan Ritchson is perfect in that role in the series Reacher, and with that awesome show in full swing, there’s no way Cruise is going to attempt to revisit Jack Reacher in a movie again.

In case you forgot about Jack Reacher: Never Go Back like I did, here’s a trailer!

Review: LAND OF BAD is a Thrilling and Awesome Military Action Film of Survival and Valor

0
0

When I watched the trailers for Land of Bad it looked like it would be a decent enough movie, but after hearing a wave of great things about it, I decided I should go check this movie out on the big screen and I’m sure glad I did! Land of Bad is a breath of fresh, exhilarating air, surpassing my expectations for the movie.

The film was directed by William Eubank and he delivered an intense, gripping narrative that captures the essence of survival, bravery, and the indomitable human spirit. I can confidently say that Land of Bad is easily one of the best films that I've seen this year so far. I should also add that I enjoy watching military films like this.

The movie plunges its audience into a heart-stopping military odyssey set in the treacherous terrains of the South Philippines, where a covert Special Forces operation takes a dire turn into a relentless 48-hour fight for survival. The premise is an intriguing, promising story filled with tension, action, and human drama. The film is fast-paced, weaving through its narrative with precision and intensity that will leave audiences clinging to the edge of their seats.

The action sequences in Land of Bad are awesomely spectacular. They showcase a perfect blend of realism and cinematic flair that is breathtaking and, at times, brutally visceral. The film does not shy away from depicting the harsh realities of combat, drawing audiences into a thrilling experience where the stakes are incredibly high. It seems the filmmakers’ goal was to deliver a raw, unfiltered portrayal of warfare, where the specter of death looms large, and survival is a feat of both physical endurance and mental fortitude, and he awesomely pulls it off.

At the heart of this harrowing story are the performances by a stellar cast, including Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia. Crowe and Hemsworth, in particular, deliver compelling performances that anchor the film. Crowe, as the seasoned Air Force drone pilot Reaper, and Hemsworth, portraying the rookie officer Kinney, embody the essence of leadership and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. Their dynamic, driven by a sense of urgency and desperation, drives the narrative forward, highlighting the themes of camaraderie, sacrifice, and the moral complexities of warfare.

Land of Bad is a meticulously crafted story that explores the human condition through the lens of a high-stakes Special Forces operation. The film is thought-provoking and emotionally resonant and is both intellectually engaging and visually spectacular.

The film takes audiences on a riveting cinematic journey that is meant to be seen on the big screen. As the year progresses, I believe that it will be one of the standout films of the year for me with a very high chance that it will end up on my end-of-year favorite list. If you enjoy military action movies, this is a movie that you’re going to enjoy!

The one thing that Land of Bad suffered from was its lackluster marketing efforts to get audiences to go see the movie! This oversight in marketing significantly undermined the film's potential to draw in wider audiences. Had the film been marketed properly it would probably would’ve been a big hit!

Vanessa Kirby is reuniting with The Crown director Benjamin Caron (Andor) in the feature film The Night Always Comes, based on the 2021 novel by Willy Vlautin which follows a working-class woman in the Pacific Northwest who embarks on a 24-hour quest to call in old debts and raise enough money to keep a roof over her head.

The Night Always Comes film is based on a screenplay by Seattle-based screenwriter Sarah Conradt, whose credits include Mothers’ Instinct and 50 States of Fright. Vlautin’s 2010 book Lean on Pete was adapted and directed by Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers) in 2017. His debut tome, The Motel Life, was filmed in 2012.

Vlautin’s story focuses on Lynette (Kirby), who rises each morning before sunrise to juggle multiple jobs –not all of them are on the level — while also caring for her mother Doreen and older brother Kenny who’s described in the book as being developmentally disabled. Lynette has been hardened by her hardscrabble life; her bedroom houses the washer-dryer, an oil furnace and a utility sink. There’s little or no money for new clothes or for treats.

Lynette has gone without so she can save cash to purchase the ramshackle home her family has rented for decades in an area where the ‘G’ word — gentrification — has left a bitter taste; the working classes are being pushed outta town. A plan had been in place to raise a mortgage on the property, but when that’s derailed she’s forced to undertake a desperate odyssey in a city of greed. Lynette has to confront dangerous people who owe her money.

This new Vlautin screen project is set to shoot on locations in Portland, OR in May ahead of Kirby filming her role as Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, in The Fantastic Four reboot to be directed by Matt Shakman later this summer.

Anthony Hopkins Is Set to Star in a New Reimagining of H.G. Wells' Novel THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU

Anthony Hopkins is set to star an a new reimagining of H.G. Wells’ classic novel The Island of Dr. Moreau. But, the movie will have a different title, Eyes in the Trees, and it’s being developed by director Timothy Woodward Jr.

In this film, Hopkins plays “a geneticist who has been isolated after the government stopped funding his research following the violent outbreak of one of his test subjects. Later, two renowned filmmakers and their crew embark on a journey of discovery, only to find their excursion turned into a fight for survival for not just themselves, but the entire human race.”

The original sci-fi story was published in 1896 and it’s always been a wild story that I’ve enjoyed. It’s inspired several films over the years and was adapted 1932 with Island of Lost Souls and 1977 with The Island of Dr. Moreau starring Burt Lancaster. The most recent adaptation was in 1996 starring Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer, which went through an insanely challenging production. They should make a movie or series about the making of that film!

The script for Eyes in the Trees was written by B. Harrison Smith (Where the Scary Things Are) and Mike Manning (Son of the South).

This should be yet another solid role of Hopkins to take on. I hope this movie turns out well!

Disney's Live-Action THE SWORD IN THE STONE Movie May Have Been Scrapped

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently revealed that he’s been secretly killing off film projects that have been in development at the studio. It sounds like maybe one of those projects was the live-action adaptation of The Sword in the Stone.

The movie was being developed for Disney+ by the director of 28 Weeks Later and Damsel, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and in a recent interview with the filmmaker, he suggests that the movie has been scrapped. He told Screen Rant in an interview:

"That was a project that I was attached to years ago, but it was put on hold. From this day, to be honest with you, I don't know what's gonna happen. I think it's a great project and a great story that needs to be told, but I don't know what is gonna happen. Let's see; fingers crossed.

"As you can imagine, with all these movies, you never know when it's going to happen. I really hope that Disney greenlights the movie, but right now, I don't know anything about it. Also, the experience that I have now after [Damsel] would be would be fantastic to apply to The Sword in the Stone, for sure.”

The script for the film was being written by Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman. This is a movie that I was actually excited about. I love the original 1963 animated movie, and bringing that film to life in live-action form interested me.

The story is a reimagined account of the young King Arthur's upbringing, focusing on his tutelage under the eccentric wizard Merlin. The film offered a mix of humor, adventure, and magic, and as Arthur, also known as Wart, stumbles upon Merlin, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery and learning, culminating in the iconic moment when he pulls the enchanted sword from the stone, proving his rightful claim to the throne of England.

The series is described as “a thrilling story that redefines sci-fi drama with its layered mysteries and genre-bending high stakes.”

This looks like a great show that will take fans on an intriguing journey. Hopefully, the creative team will be able to stick the landing.

In the series: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”

The series stars John Bradley, Jess Hong, Benedict Wong, Eiza González, Jovan Adepo, Alex Sharp, Saamer Usmani, Liam Cunningham, Rosalind Chao, Jonathan Pryce, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Ben Schnetzer and Zine Tseng.

The eight-episode series is based on the book series by Cixin Liu, and it will cover all three books in the trilogy, which include The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Death’s End.

The books tell the story of what happens “when humanity discovers that we are not alone in the universe and prepares for an alien force arriving from a distant and inhospitable world. The title refers to the aliens’ star system, which has three stars orbiting each other in such a way that an Earth-type planet between them keeps suffering extreme hot and cold temperatures, repeatedly wiping out its intelligent civilizations.”

The series will debut on Netflix on March 21st, 2024.

Zack Snyder Says More People Probably Watched REBEL MOON Than Saw BARBIE in a Theater

0
0

Zack Snyder recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience to discuss a variety of topics. While talking about his sci-fi epic Rebel Moon, which was released on Netflix. he says that more people “probably” watched his film than saw Barbie in theaters.

He explained the magic of Netflix and the numbers of it all, saying:

“You think about Netflix, for instance, where you push a button. Rebel Moon, right? Say right now it’s almost at 90 million views, right? 80 or 90 million accounts turned it on, give or take. They assume two viewers per screening, right? That’s the kind of math. So you think if that movie was in the theater as a distribution model, that’s like 160,000,000 people supposedly watching based on that math. 160,000,000 people at $10 a ticket would be…what is that math? I don’t know. 160,000,000 times ten. That’s 1.6 billion. So more people probably saw Rebel Moon than saw Barbie in the theater, right?”

Barbie made $1.446 billion at the global box office, so according to Snyder’s math of $10 a ticket, that would mean around 144,600,000 people paid to see Barbie in theaters. Snyder went on talk boast about Netflix’s distribution model saying:

“That’s how crazy Netflix is. That’s the distribution model that they’ve set up. I was at this thing the other day, and we were talking about Rebel Moon 2. And they were like, ‘Well, talk about Rebel Moon, the first one.’ I’m like, ‘No, go f****ing watch it. I know you have it at your house.’ It’s not like a theater situation. You could turn it on your phone right now and watch it right here if you wanted. That’s how crazy it is. This model, this machine they’ve built, is really something else. It’s really crazy if you think about it.”

Snyder is obviously very happy with Netflix which is where he has a couple of film franchises set up with Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon. Of course, he’s going to hype it up.

However, the biggest difference between Rebel Moon and Barbie are the reviews. Rebel Moon had a 21% critic score and a 58% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Barbie has an 88% critic score and 83% audience score. So, according to Snyder’s math, More people tuned in to be disappointed in his movie than enjoy it.

Look, I’m actually a fan of a lot of Snyder’s work. He’s got the visual filmmaking style down, he just needs to work on his strengthening his storytelling, writing, and character development.

FURIOSA Is a 15-Year Odyssey Which Runs Directly Into MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

George Miller has offered some additional details on his upcoming film Furiosa: A Max Max Saga that is sure to get fans excited about what we can expect from this awesome-looking movie!

The filmmaker revealed that the story this film tells takes place over the course of 15 years and that it leads directly into the events of Mad Max: Fury Road. Miller shared:

“The story is the saga of Furiosa, and how she gets taken from home, and spends the rest of her life trying to get back. [In] Fury Road, the story unfolds over three days and two nights. This film follows the story that runs directly into Fury Road, for 15 years.”

Well, this sounds like it’s going to be an insanely epic story! Miller goes on to hype it saying, “It’s a different animal. It’s got many different locations. It’s an odyssey. No question.”

Miller has been looking to make this move for a very long time and original Furiosa star Charlize Theron even tried to get Miller to make the movie while he was prepping Fury Road. George explained: “She said, ‘Please, George, can we make this first?’ It was the first time I realized that there’s something really strong in this story.” Now Anya Taylor-Joy has taken on the role with Theron’s blessing. When talking about that Taylor-Joy said:

“She’s been so classy and kind in letting me go and do it. But I feel very lucky that, from the second I read the script, I just knew this person. I felt so fiercely protective over Furiosa, and fiercely protective of her interests. I was so excited to shave my head. Then George saw me in real life, and went, ‘No, we can’t!’”

As for a possible appearance from Max Rockatansky himself, Miller said: “I won’t give away too much about that. All I’ll say is, Max is lurking there in the background.”

In the film, "As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is scheduled to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.

James Gunn recently shared the pieces of Superman media have inspired his take on the iconic DC superhero. When asked by a fan on social media about his inspirations for Superman, aside from Richard Donner’s classic 1978 movie, Gunn replied with a collection of images.

The first image is from Superman #1 in 1939. The rest of the assembled images features Superman’s long history in comics, shows, and other media. I’ve included the Thread post below along with all of the images that Gunn shared.

Looking at all of these visuals that have inspired Gunn, its more proof to me that Gunn is the right guy for the job to take on Superman.

Watch the Chilean Beer Ads Hilariously Inserted into the STAR WARS Films; George Lucas Was Not a Fan

0
0

In 2003, Chile’s Channel 13 was running George LucasStar Wars movies and they had this crazy idea to insert beer ads into the movie! It was for Chile’s most popular beer brand, Cerveza Cristal, and this is a very unconventional advertising plan.

For example, when Obi-Wan is talking to Luke about his father, he says, “That reminds me. I have something for you.” In the film he gets up to get Anakin’s lightsaber, but in this version an ad is cut in showing Obi-Wan grabbing Luke a beer! I’ve included all of these ads for you to watch below.

They did not have permission from Lucasfilm to do this, so as you might imagine, George Lucas was not happy. So, in 2004, Lucas filed a grievance with the Chilean Council for Self-Regulation and Advertising Ethics.

As you’d expect, a judgment was ruled in Lucasfilm’s favor, and it was ordered that these commercials were not to be aired again. That didn’t stop them for showing up on YouTube, though!

The beer company went on to incorporate its beer into other movies like American Beauty, Gladiator and Notting Hill. You’re going to get a kick out of these!

An Amusing STAR WARS Mistake Was Found in REVENGE OF THE SITH During the Mustafar Fight Scene

0

Here’s a little Star Wars mistake that will give you a good laugh that was recently discovered in George LucasRevenge of the Sith. The mistake can be found during the epic, climactic fight scene between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar. During the scene, some random guy pops up out of nowhere just standing behind Anakin in the lava.

The mistake was shared on Reddit and it came with the following note:

“So I'm on the r/StarWars discord server and this guy says there's a guy hidden during the Mustafar fight scene. So, using my quick time button pressing, I spam my spacebar and low and behold, there's just a dude there during the fight. If you pause the film at exactly 1:59:03:21 you will see him there. Here's a shot from D+. Pretty crazy stuff. Wonder if a random editor put himself in there as a joke to say "im in a star wars movie" XD. This is the precursor to Jeans Guy.”

You can check out the photo evidence below.

Revenge of The Sith's Hidden Character during Mustafar fight scene
byu/itsjustmonty_ inStarWars

This is actually pretty wild and amazing! Now I’ll never be able to watch the scene the same way again! I’ll always be reminded that there is some random guy that pops up in the scene!

He’s obviously just one of the crew members on the green screen set standing in the background that didn’t get completely removed during the post-production process.

Walton Goggins Offers More Details About the Ghoul in FALLOUT

0
0

Prime Video’s Fallout series is something a lot of fans are excited about. It looks like the creative team behind it made an awesome show, which is based on the popular video game. It seems to perfectly bring that crazy post-apocalyptic world to life.

One of the most interesting aspects of the series is Walton Goggins’ character, The Ghoul, a noseless, peeling, irradiated creature that was once human. He’s a wild card character in the series and a sinister bounty hunter.

The Ghoul was previously described as a “gruesomely scarred roughrider who has a code of honor, but also a ruthless streak. He is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly all rolled into one.” The character is a survivor who has existed for hundreds of years and the series will offer insight into his past with flashbacks of the “human being he once was, a father and husband named Cooper Howard, before the nuclear holocaust turned the world into a cinder and transformed him into an undead, noseless sharp-shooting fiend.”

Goggins is now sharing some additional information on his character, explaining: “The Ghoul is, in some ways, the poet Virgil in Dante’s Inferno. He’s the guide, if you will, through this irradiated hellscape that we find ourselves in in this post-apocalyptic world. He is a bounty hunter... he is pragmatic, he is ruthless, he has his own set of moral codes, and he has a wicked sense of humor. Much like me!”

The series will explore this character prior to his current state. It will share details about his former life as a man named Cooper Howard. In regard to that, Goggins said: “He’s a very, very, very complicated guy, and to understand him, you have to understand the person that he was before the war... he was a vastly different person than the ghoul that you’ve seen so far. Over the course of the show, through his experience back in the world before the nuclear fallout, you will understand how the world was. And he is the bridge between both these worlds.”

As for the series, it is set in future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles it will tell an original story based on the Fallout games and this new story will be part of the canon of the games.

Fallout will drop its entire debut season on Amazon Prime Video April 11.

Director Mike Mitchell has made several popular kids movies that include Shrek Forever After, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, Trolls, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, and most recently, Kung Fu Panda 4. But if he had his pick of projects to return to, it would be his 2005 live-action teen superhero movie, Sky High, which he’d like to see a sequel for, made by none other than Marvel studios.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Mitchell explained:

“Save U, Save University. Sky High-er. Here’s what it is. I know that Kevin Feige is a huge Sky High fan. Right when it came out, he met with me, and we talked about it. His whole team loved it because it was the first superhero comedy that was having fun with the genre. But, at the same time honoring it. And so, the trick is this: That was not made under Marvel. That was before they [Disney] bought Marvel. If we could pull Kevin into it. And, we could get Disney to…. Disney’s so scared of Marvel. Only Marvel can do superhero films. To which, I say, ‘Great!’ Let’s have Marvel do Sky High! That would be fun. So, I’m ready to go.”

Sky High’s synopsis reads:

"A super adventure of heroic proportions, this crowd-pleasing hit stars Hollywood favorites Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston. The son of legendary heroes Commander (Russell) and Jetstream (Preston), young Will Stronghold carries huge expectations as he enters a high-tech high school known for molding the heroes of tomorrow. With no apparent superpowers of his own, however, Will seems destined to grow up a mere sidekick. But as he discovers his true strengths, he'll also learn that it takes loyalty and teamwork to truly become a hero."

Would you like to see a Sky High sequel?

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming new series The Magic Prank Show, which is well… a magic prank show! The new series comes from magician and comedian Justin Willman (Magic for Humans), and it looks like a ton of fun!

I love the art of magic, and this series sees Willman use “his extraordinary skills to pull off ambitious and hilarious pranks like you've never seen before. With his team of twisted professionals, Justin executes brain-bending experiences to help everyday folks blow people's minds and settle old scores.”

Willman is a crazy talented magician and he started to hone his craft as a magician at the age of 12, “first learning to perform card tricks as a means of regaining strength in his hands after breaking both his arms.”

The Magic Prank Show will premiere on Netflix on April 1st, or April Fool’s Day. Enjoy the trailer!

New Regeny is developing a feature film adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game Watch Dogs, and the star behind the hit horror film Talk To Me, Sophie Wilde, is set to star in the film.

The film is said to be set within the universe of Ubisoft’s blockbuster video game franchise, and it is being directed by Mathieu Turi (Hostile), from an original screenplay written by Christie LeBlanc ( Oxygen).

There are no details to share regarding the movie, but the story for the original game is set in a fictionalized version of Chicago, Illinois. It centers around the character Aiden Pearce, a highly skilled hacker seeking revenge after a tragic event involving his family.

All of the games are set in fictionalized versions of real-life cities, at various points in time, and follow different hacker protagonists who, while having different goals to achieve, find themselves involved with the criminal underworlds of their respective cities. The villains of the story are corrupt companies, crime bosses, and rival hackers who take advantage of ctOS (central Operating System), a fictional computing network that connects every electronic device in a city together into a single system and stores personal information on most citizens.

This isn’t the only game project that Turi is working on, he’s also writing and directing a television adaptation of the narrative video game A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Watch Dogs could make for a great movie with the right creative team in place. It’ll be interesting to see how this film turns out.

Hugh Grant Is Playing Tony the Tiger in Jerry Seinfeld's Pop Tarts Movie FROSTED

0

Jerry Seinfeld has been in production on his upcoming film project Frosted, which will tell the story of the creation of Pop Tarts. The cast for the film was announced a couple of years ago, and Hugh Grant was among them.

We’ve now learned today that Grant will be taking on the role of cereal mascot Tony the Tiger, and you can see a first-look photo of him in the movie above. The man behind Tony the Tiger is described as “a disgruntled Shakespearean actor who, much to his chagrin, finds himself having to don the Tony the Tiger outfit.”

During an interview with Empire, Seinfeld talked about the casting of Grant: “That was the greatest part of the whole thing, honestly. Because I am a crazy fan of his. [Hugh] asked me if it matters that Tony the Tiger has a British accent. I told him, ‘No, who cares?’”

Seinfeld also commented on the rest of the cast saying, “Everybody I asked said ‘yes’, so we ended up with this crazy cast.”

The full cast for the film includes James Marsden (Sonic the Hedgehog 2), Melissa McCarthy (Ghostbusters), Jim Gaffigan (Linoleum), and Amy Schumer (Life & Beth). They wil be joined by Christian Slater (Dr. Death). Jack McBrayer (Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show), Tom Lennon (Reno 911!), Adrian Martinez (iGilbert), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Max Greenfield (The Neighborhood), and Sarah Cooper (Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine).

Seinfeld is also set to star in the film, and he’ll be making his feature film directorial debut with it. The film is inspired by a joke that Seinfeld has told in his Netflix comedy special about the world-shaking invention of the Pop Tart, which rocked his world. He wrote the script with Spike Feresten.

The movie is billed as “a tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar and menacing milkmen.” The story set in 1963 Michigan and “will watch as sworn cereal rivals Kellogg’s and Post race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever.”

I’m excited about this movie!

GODZILLA MINUS ONE Wins Best Picture and 7 Other Awards at the Japanese Academy Awards

Godzilla Minus One continues to enjoy its success at the Japanese Academy Awards where it won a total of eight awards including Best Picture. It was nominated in 12 categories. This was easily one of the best films of the year, so it’s not surprising that it won.

The full list of wins for Godzilla Minus One includes:

  • Best Picture – Godzilla Minus One

  • Best Screenplay – Takashi Yamazaki

  • Best Supporting Actress – Sakura Ando

  • Best Cinematography – Kozo Shibasaki

  • Best Lighting – Nariyuki Ueda

  • Best Art Direction – Anri Jojo

  • Best Sound – Hisafumi Takeuchi

  • Best Editing – Ryuji Miyajima

The movie only got one nomination at Hollywood’s upcoming Academy Awards, and that was for the visual effects work that was created for the movie. I think it deserved more recognition ,but it’s hard for Hollywood to see what a great movie looks like these days.

Set in the days after the end of World War II, Japan is reeling from the devastation left behind after the war. The emotional toll has brought the country to its lowest point.

The story follows the failed kamikaze pilot Kiochi (Ryunosuke Kamiki) and Noriko (Minami Hamabe), a woman pushed into homelessness, taking care of an abandoned child. During this low point Godzilla marches ashore, pulling Japan even deeper into chaos and devastation.

Written and directed by Japanese filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki, “Godzilla Minus One taps into the grief, hope, trauma, and guilt felt in the world after the tragedies of World War II and the 2019 Covid pandemic, during which the majority of the script was written.”

Yamazaki said: “Postwar Japan has lost everything. The film depicts an existence that gives unprecedented despair. The title Godzilla Minus One was created with this in mind. In order to depict this, the staff and I have worked together to create a setting where Godzilla looks as if 'fear' itself is walking toward us, and where despair is piled on top of despair.”

Academy Award-Winning Director Sarah Polley No Longer Attached to Disney's Live-Action BAMBI Remake

Four years ago, it was announced that Disney was looking to move forward with a live-action remake of the animated classic Bambi. Then last year, the studio made it known that they were looking to hire Academy Award-winning director Sarah Polley (Women Talking) to helm the feature film. News of the remake has been scarce since then, but now, according to a report from The Wrap, Polley has quietly left the remake.

It's unclear when Polley departed, and under what circumstances. The report also says that the studio is equally unclear as to whether the movie will still move forward. Disney’s former president of Walt Disney Motion Picture Production, Sean Bailey, has recently left his position, and he was largely responsible for the number of live-action remakes we've seen over the last decade. Now that he's left the studio, things may or may not be getting a shakeup, which Disney CEO Bob Iger has recently spoken to at the Morgan Stanley investor conference, where he mentioned that the studio has "killed a few projects already that we just didn't feel were strong enough." He didn't mention anything by name, although it's possible "Bambi" was one of those projects.

Only time will tell. I don’t think anyone was really clamoring for a remake of Bambi, so I think that one could easily fall by the wayside, and the studio wouldn’t suffer because of it. As it is, many of the live-action Disney remakes haven’t done very well as far as money and fan reception, so I think Disney would do well to continue making sequels and original content.

What do you think? Do you hope the studio moves forward with a live-action Bambi movie?

Miamax's HALLOWEEN Series Will Be a "Complete Reset" of The Franchise; What Would Your Pitch Be?

Last year we learned that Miramax was going to be developing a Halloween cinematic universe that will include both a TV series and films. When this was initially announced, the TV series was already in the works. It was explained that the series "is envisioned to potentially launch a cinematic universe spanning film and television."

Miramax head Marc Helwig recently offered an update on the series and shared what we can expect from it, saying that it’s going to be a complete reset of the franchise:

“The foundation of it is the original film, the John Carpenter movie, the characters of that film, and perhaps a group of characters that we haven’t really focused on that much in recent film versions or even in a number of them.

“It’s a creative reset completely and going back to the original film, as opposed to spinning out of any of the more recent film adaptations.”

Helwig also notes that the project is “on a fast track”, and says:

It’s a big priority for us. We’ve had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to be doing very soon. We’re hoping to lock down the creative team very soon.”

While I will always love the Halloween franchise, especially that original movie, the whole thing is just boring now. While this is going to be a creative reset, it’s still going to hash out the same stuff that we’ve seen from the franchise over the years. I wish they’d just stop and give the franchise a long long break before trying to do anything new with it.

The creative team is really going to have to do something special and out of the box with this thing to get audiences interested in it. It’ll be a shame if it ends up just being more of the same.

Are you excited about the plans for this Halloween reboot? If you were given the opportunity to reset the franchise, what would your pitch be?

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER Sequel Writer Says Movie Will Update the Formula of "Hot People Doing Questionable Things"

The new sequel to the teen horror franchise I Know What You Did Last Summer is moving forward, and though production on the film has been moving slowly, it’s still coming along, and the film’s writer, Leah McKendrick, is here to assure us that the film will feature updates that will bring it up to date, but it will also deliver the proven formula of “hot people doing questionable things.” McKendrick explained to Collider (via ComingSoon):

“I mean, it’s hot people doing questionable things, right? At its core, I think it really reckons with some big ideas about hero and villain, right and wrong, how your skeletons come back to haunt you. And in the age of the internet and the age where fame is such a revered concept, the creation of TikTok and social media, who is Julie James in a world where there are no secrets anymore?”

She went on to add:

“I obviously watched 8 million times while working on it, but it’s fun. It’s just a popcorn, wild ride. It’s campy at times, Jennifer Love Hewitt is so hot, Freddie Prinze Jr. is so hot. Sarah Michelle [Gellar], Ryan [Phillippe], they’re so gorgeous. It’s like beautiful people behaving badly. You just can’t get enough of it. There’s a lot of that in this film.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are returning to reprise their roles from the original films, and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will be directing. No other casting, title, or story news has been revealed, but stay tuned for updates as they roll in.

Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Maid) has signed on to play Amanda Knox in an upcoming untitled limited series that has been ordered at Hulu. The streamer has ordered eight one-hour episodes. The official description states that the show is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.”

KJ Steinberg (This Is Us, Mistresses, Gossip Girl) serves as writer and executive producer on the series. Qualley will executive produce in addition to starring. Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, and Graham Littlefield of The Littlefield Company will also executive produce along with Monica Lewinsky as well as Knox and Chris Robinson via Knox Robinson Productions. 20th Television is the studio.

This will now be the second limited series based on a real person in which Qualley will star. She previously led the Netflix series Maid, based on the memoir of the same name by Stephanie Land. Her work in that show earned Qualley both a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination. She previously earned an Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a limited series for playing Ann Reinking in FX’s Fosse/Verdon.

Knox’s story has been the subject of multiple onscreen projects to date. In addition to several news special reports and documentaries, Lifetime aired the original film Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy in 2011. The film Stillwater starring Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin, and Camille Cottin, which is believed to have been inspired by Knox’s story, was released in 2021.

Filming is kicking off this month in LA on neo-noir thriller Lips Like Sugar, which will star Oscar-nominees Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson. Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets), Sasha Calle (The Flash), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) and Erin Moriarty (The Boys) have joined the cast of the movie which is set against the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Harrelson and Wilson will play detectives John Carr and Phil Harris, a pair of homicide cops working to solve a possible serial killer case while police and city officials demand that all murders in LA be labeled Missing Persons until the Olympic torch is doused and the international media has left town. The detectives’ paths cross with Tracy Anderson and Andi Campos (Newton and Calle), a pair of teenage girls that have formed a fast and intense friendship, with Montana transplant Tracy recently arrived in town with her mother (Lewis) and enamored of all things Hollywood. When Tracy disappears, Carr, Harris and Andi race a ticking clock to find her.

Music video director Brantley Gutierrez (Paul McCartney: Who Cares) is helming. The script is written by Anthony Tambakis (Warrior). Oscar nominee Win Butler of Arcade Fire fame is set to compose the score.

This is an incredible cast, and it sounds like it will be a great mystery thriller. Stay tuned for more updates as the project moves forward.

Two New TV Spots For GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE Show Off More Footage

"Kong can't stop this on his own." Here are two new TV spots for director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and if you’re excited about the film, there’s a bit of new footage. The studio is really trying to get audiences pumped up to see this movie!

I’m really curious to see how it ends up doing at the box office during this time where audiences are being really picky about what films they spend their money on to see in theaters. Initial reactions for the movie have been mixed, but some people have enjoyed it.

In the upcoming film, “The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

The director previously talked about the relationship between Godzilla and Kong, saying: “There’s a bit of a truce — Godzilla’s in control of the surface world and Kong is down in Hollow Earth. It wasn’t, ‘Okay, give me a call when something goes wrong, Kong. And I, Godzilla, will rush to the rescue!’ The buddy-cop dysfunctional relationship dynamic is probably the best one to describe Godzilla and Kong. My influences are always embedded with the ‘80s, and the ‘80s were prime for [that] storyline. There’s a lot of misunderstanding – the way that the monsters communicate isn’t straightforward.”

The film stars Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong), Brian Tyree Henry (Godzilla vs. Kong), Dan Stevens (Legion), Kaylee Hottle (Godzilla vs. Kong), Alex Ferns (The Batman) and Fala Chen (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire opens in theaters on April 12, 2024. Will you be watching the film in theaters?

Hero Complex Gallery has revealed some awesome collectible poster art for director George Miller’s 1985 action film Mad Max: Beyond The Thunderdome. There are two prints and both of them were wonderfully created by Casey Callender. This is some great art!

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome is the third installment in the Mad Max franchise. The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and follows the titular character, Max Rockatansky, portrayed by Mel Gibson, as he navigates the challenges of a desert wasteland. After being robbed of his belongings, Max finds his way to Bartertown, a community powered by methane gas derived from pig waste, ruled by the iron-fisted Aunty Entity, played by Tina Turner.

Max becomes embroiled in the town's politics and is forced to fight in the Thunderdome, a gladiatorial arena where conflicts are resolved. The film's narrative evolves as Max is exiled into the desert, where he encounters a tribe of lost children, leading to a series of events that prompt him to return to Bartertown for a final confrontation.

The posters are limited to only 250 and if you want a 24x36 print, it’ll cost you $75. The first is the Bartertown Variant and the second is the Tomorrow-Morrow Land Variant.

The trailer that was released for Prime Video’s Fallout series this week sure did get fans pumped up about what this show is going to deliver! It definitely sparked some excitement and today we’ve got a poster to share with you featuring the main characters of the story and it comes with the tagline, “The World Deserves a Better Ending.”

View fullsize GIEs9xXXAAA05ta.jpg

As for the series, it is set in future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles it will tell an original story based on the Fallout games and this new story will be part of the canon of the games.

The series comes from Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and it stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins and more.

Fallout is set to arrive on Prime Video on April 12th, 2024.

Danny DeVito Makes The Perfect Wolverine in New Corridor Digital Video

The gang at Corridor Digital had a little creative fun recently by creating a video that imagines Danny DeVito as Wolverine. Using AI animation tools and heavy influence from his character Frank Reynolds from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, they replace Hugh Jackman with DeVito as Wolverine from the X-Men films.

Jallen and Matt set out to prove that Danny DeVito would make a perfect Wolverine by making their very own Wolverito. Somebody’s gonna get stabbed!

I don’t know if you remember or not, but in 2019 a petition was launched for Danny DeVito to be the next Wolverine. It read:

The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny DeVito.

A couple good reasons as to why I believe so strongly that he suits the character:

Danny DeVito’s height is a lot closer to the comic books portrayal of Wolverine. With Danny being 4’10” and Wolverine 5’3″.

Secondly, we all saw Danny’s portrayal of the Trashman. So, we know he is fully capable of fighting, and that he is not afraid when things get dirty!

I’ve included the complete video along with a making of video that they released. You know, DeVito really would be pretty awesome to see as Wolverine.

Adam Savage Transformers The Infamous DUNE: PART TWO Popcorn Bucket Into Something Cool!

That Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket might be one of the craziest popcorn buckets ever created. I’m kinda surprised that they actually pushed that monstrosity out! It got a lot of attention on social media, though! Maybe that’s what they were hoping for.

Anyway, Adam Savage got the popcorn bucket and then transformed it into something incredibly cool! You can watch the transformation process in the video from Tested below. It came with the following note:

Adam Savage takes apart the infamous Dune 2 Sandworm popcorn bucket and gives it a makeover, converting it into an Arrakis-inspired diorama complete with Ornithopter and tiny z-scale Paul Atreides! Even the sand used in the build has some special moviemaking lineage. And yes, the diorama still works as a popcorn dispenser!

Did any of you end up buying the Sandworm popcorn bucket?

If you’re a fan of director Ivan Reitman’s 1984 movie Ghostbusters, I’ve got a behind-the-scenes making of video that you’ve got to watch! As a longtime fan of the original film, this is a video that I’m not sure I’ve ever seen before and it’s really cool to get a look at the cast and crew developing this incredible movie.

While we wait for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire to be released, I thought it’d be worth sharing this. It features members of the the cast including Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, and Rick Moranis talking about the movie and what they were looking to do with the film. It even features the VFX team working on their ghostly aspects of the movie.

Enjoy the video!

GODZILLA MINUS ONE Blu-ray is Coming and Toho Shared a First Look

0

Godzilla Minus One had an incredibly strong box office run at the movie theaters and fans flocked to the cinemas to watch it. That theatrical run has ended and now Toho is teasing the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of the film.

The home video teased below will be made available for Japanese consumers, but I think it’s safe to say that the United States will get something very similar.

The movie will be released in both its color and Black and White versions. The home release of Godzilla Minus One is set to hit shelves in Japan on May 1st. There’s no word on when the movie will hit home video in the United States.

The movie was written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, and the story is set in the days after the end of World War II, when Japan is reeling from the devastation left behind after the war.
