Footage From Abandoned Version of The New DOOM Video Game

$

0

Earlier this morning, we wrote about the new teaser trailer for the next installment in the Doom video game franchise, titled simply Doom. It's very brief, but more is reportedly coming at this year's E3 convention next month. This game has been in the works for a long, long time now, and part of the reason it's taken this long to come out is because the developer, id Software, scrapped an earlier version of the game back in 2013 for failing to live up to the quality they were hoping to achieve.

Now we have some screenshots and a quick video of that abandoned version of the game (via PC Gamer), and it looks a lot like every other modern first person shooter. It instantly calls to mind things like Call of Duty and Gears of War, and though the original Doom was an inspiration for those games (functionally, at the very least), and I'm guessing the developers gave up on it because they wanted something a little bit more original. Let's hope that the new Doom is better than what's on display here. (Beware: the soundtrack in the clip below is terrible.)

Chris Pratt Confirms He'll Appear in More Marvel Movies After GUARDIANS 2

At this point, when an actor signs on to star in a Marvel movie, it's practically a given that he or she will pop up in a few more movies farther down the line. Such is the case with Chris Pratt, the breakout star of Guardians of the Galaxy. Pratt is on the cover of the new edition of GQ, and in an interview with the magazine, he confirms that not only is he coming back for another Guardians (duh), but he'll appear in non-Guardians films as well.

"...I'm tied to doing three more, or five more, Guardians of the Galaxy or whatever it is, you know, two more Guardians plus another couple..."

So it sounds like the plan is for Pratt to lead Guardians 2 and 3, and then have three more appearances in the MCU after that. One would assume two of those would be the two-part Avengers: Infinity War films, considering that's when our heroes will face off against Thanos, the galactic baddie from the original Guardians of the Galaxy. But the final movie after that? Well, he could theoretically pop up in Doctor Strange or Black Panther, but it makes a lot more sense that he'd be in either Captain Marvel (depending on how far into space that movie actually goes) or Inhumans, which is definitely going to take place away from Earth.

We'd love to hear your guesses in the comments below.

Behold This Amazing Animated MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Poster

Artists Ronen V and Zachary Johnson created this unbelievably cool animated gif poster for George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road out of oil paintings. Johnson, for those who don't know, is director Rian Johnson's cousin, and he created Mark Ruffalo's journal drawings from The Brothers Bloom as well as this awesome poster which I have framed in my room at home. If I could frame an animated GIF, this would be a top contender for that honor.

Yesterday some photos from the set of Captain America: Civil War surfaced showing Captain America and Falcon battling Crossbones. Today we have several video clips for you to watch of Cap and Crossbones throwing some punches at each other.

There’s nothing revealing about the story in these shots, but if you want to keep yourself free from any footage until something official is released by Marvel, then by all means wait. I’m personally just too excited about the movie to not look!

The movie opens on May 6th, 2016.

My favorite vid of the day. @frankgrillo1 gets #Crossbones suits on and beating down #CaptainAmerica check out this extra who jump over the table for no apparent reason!!!! He should try for Olympics! 🏃🏿#CaptainAmericaCivilWar #FrankGrillo

These STAR TREK Garden Gnomes Are Hilarious

Only the crazy minds at Think Geek would come up with the wonderfully ridiculous idea to make and distribute Star Trek garden gnomes. These things are funny as hell, and if I had a yard to put them in, I would totally buy them. Just seeing these Star Trek characters reimagined as gnomes is great. Here's a description that came along with the product:

The perfect statuary to go with your newly-acquired Star Trek plants? Why, that would be the Star Trek Garden Gnomes, of course! They come in four flavors. Here’s how the base reads on each:
-Kirk – To boldly go where no man has gone before
-Kirk & Gorn – I shall be merciful and quick – Gorn
-Redshirt – Join Starfleet they said. It’d be fun they said
-Spock – Live long and prosper
Personally, we’re getting the Spock first because we need all the help we can get in making our garden LLAP.

The Star Trek garden gnome set will run you $24.99.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 May Include Another Classic Villain

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is currently shooting in New York City, and thanks to Cinema Blend we have some details on another classic villain that might be included in the story. For those of you who are hardcore fans of TMNT, I’m sure it won’t be hard to guess who that character is, but in case you don’t have any idea, and you don’t want it spoiled for you, don’t read any further.

There have been rumors in the past regarding this character, but the name hasn’t really popped up since production started on the film so I wasn’t really sure if he would be making an appearance or not.

According to the report, though, the alien brain villain Krang will be making his live-action debut. The news comes from a source close to production, and they also said that last week a scene was shot which involved “a number of extras and the character's arrival on Earth through a portal of some sort.”

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2-may-include-another-classic-villain3

Krang was a character created for the TMNT animated series, and he is a warlord from Dimension X who commands a huge army. After he lost his body, he teamed up with Shredder, who constructed a new human-shaped exo-suit body for him. In exchange, Krang let Shredder use his mobile battle fortress known as the Technodrome.

There’s no word on if this is how it will play out in the movie, or if they will create a whole new story around the character, which wouldn’t surprise me.

As of right now we know the film stars Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, William Fichtner as Eric Sacks, Tyler Perry as scientist Baxter Stockman, Brian Tee as the new Shredder, Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop and Laura Linney, who was cast in an undisclosed role.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is set to be released on June 3rd, 2016.

Action Movie Kid and His Baby Sister Fight Villains in Fun Short Film

Action Movie Kid is back, and now he has a baby sister to include in his adventures. Field Day has released a short film called "Super Kids Epic Showdown." It starts off with their dad amusingly discussing what it was like adjusting to things when their baby girl came along. She started to display her own powers that they had work with. It all leads to a climatic battle against some villains who have come to take the kids away.

Raising kids is always an adventure, but what happens when your children have superpowers? Action Movie Kid goes on his grandest adventure yet as he bands together with his baby sister to resist the evil Alpha Tots Academy who wants to take them away.

I've enjoyed all of the Action Movie Kid videos that have been released, but this one is definitely the best. I hope you have fun watching it!

Brad Bird Explains How SOUTH PARK Inspired Him to Turn Down STAR WARS

Before J.J. Abrams came on to direct direct Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Brad Bird was offered the job. He's talked about this a little bit in the past, and he basically had to pass up on the opportunity to direct it so that Tomorrowland would get made. He even revealed that he wanted to direct both films at one point, but that ended up not working out.

During an interview with Yahoo, the director explained why he chose Tomorrowland over Star Wars, saying,

"It absolutely was [a tough decision], but there was no way to do that film without junking this film, and we had already gotten George Clooney involved and I was excited about this film. I understand they had to get [The Force Awakens] made, and they would’ve had to push it in order for me to do it.”

After seeing Tomorrowland, I'm happy that Bird stuck with it. I wouldn't have wanted to see that movie die. In a separate interview with IGN, he talked a little bit more about how his choice came about, and how South Park played a part in his decision. When Tomorrowland screenwriter Damon Lindelof found out that Brad was offered the Star Wars job, he said.

"Yeah, I thought you were gonzo. They'd just offered Brad Star Wars and we were about six weeks out [from production on Tomorrowland] and were scouting in Florida, and I looked down at my phone and it was your smiley face and I was like, 'He's about to bounce.' And you didn't."

Bird went on to explain how an episode of South Park helped him make his decision to turn down the opportunity to direct Star Wars and focus on his Tomorrowland efforts.

"What's really funny is that we were having conversations on the phone during this. And we were in Florida scouting and having to keep this a secret from everybody that we were scouting with. Because that's a buzz kill immediately. But there was this episode of South Park that appeared as this was going on and I was completely blown away. Because there was a shot from it - I even Tweeted you [Lindelof] the shot - it was Cartman and behind him was a lightsaber and in front of him was Space Mountain from Tomorrowland. And God it was happening right in front of me! It was like a super, unbelievable scene from a movie. Like I don't accept that at all. But it was happening right in front of me."

The director then talked about how Star Wars would basically happen with or without him, but that if he left Tomorrowland, the movie could very well not happen at all.

"I love Star Wars, but Star Wars is going to get made whether I do it or not. They are not going to delay Star Wars in order for me to do Tomorrowland. [In terms of] Tomorrowland, you know momentum is fragile. And we need momentum. There was a lot of momentum on Tomorrowland and I really loved what the movie was. And I thought there's a chance that Tomorrowland won't get made, simply because it loses its momentum. A movie is a weird thing. It's not a tangible thing. You have this wispy cloud that you're trying to solidify and I thought that it deserved to be made. You know, Star Wars is a very robust thing right now and it's going to be fine."

There will be several opportunities for Bird to direct a Star Wars film if he wants to do that some time down the road. In the end, I think Bird made the right decision. Tomorrowland tells an original story that is extremely fun and imaginative. I am happy that the director stuck with it.

Bill Murray seems to always be full of surprises. Last night the actor made a messy entrance on The Late Show when popped out of a cake to say goodbye to David Letterman. After Murray made his way out of the cake he gave a big frosting covered hug to Letterman, then spread the loving mess around the stage and too the audience.

Murray was later spotted walking on Broadway covered in the cake singing "Give Peace a Chance." I've included a photo of that, which was posted on Twitter yesterday.

Letterman’s final episode of The Late Show will air Wednesday May 20th, 2015 on CBS.

It has been 31 years since the James Cameron's The Terminator was released in theaters, and thanks to Park Circus, the film is going to get a global re-release! I've never seen the original Terminator film on the big screen, but this summer it looks like I'm going to get my chance.

According to Live for Films, the movie will be released in the UK on June 23rd, and it will also play in close to 1,000 screens across more than 20 territories including the U.S. throughout the month. The event is taking place as a way to prime audiences for the release of Terminator Genisys on July 1st.

To help promote the event, two trailers have been released for the original film that we've all enjoyed watching over the years.

Artist Mike S. Miller and Teodoro Gonzalez tag-teamed this insane piece of Hulk vs. Wolverine art. It features the green goliath having been bloodily slashed up by Logan. We've seen a lot of art depicting these two going at it, and this is a great addition to what we've already seen.

I really hope that one day we'll get to see this fight in a movie on the big screen, but if it does happen, it won't be any time soon. In the meantime, we do have the badass animated version of the fight which you can watch below.

Christopher Lloyd Returns as BACK TO THE FUTURE's Doc Brown in LEGO DIMENSIONS Trailer

Back to the Future holds a special place in all of our hearts, so it thrills us any time actors from the film reprise their roles — even if it's to sell toys. That's the case here with Christopher Lloyd returning to his iconic role of Emmett "Doc" Brown in this trailer for LEGO Dimensions, LEGO's attempt to jump into the amiibo/Disney Infinity expansion market. It's heartwarming to see Lloyd jump right back into character, and it's clear that he's embraced the role over the years instead of rejecting it like a lot of actors do when they become best known for one specific part.

LEGO Dimensions drops on Sept. 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. You can read much more about the game right here, and watch the trailer below:

FX Master Rick Baker's Grotesque Version of The Joker

Special effects and makeup guru Rick Baker has created hundreds of memorable characters and props over his long career, with films like Star Wars, An American Werewolf in London, Videodrome, Men in Black, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas being some of his most famous credits. He's dabbled in the Batman universe as well, working on the underrated Batman Forever, and now he's tackling The Dark Knight's biggest foe: The Joker.

Screencrush points us to some tweets from Baker that reveal a bust of the character based on Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s New 52 version of The Clown Prince of Crime, and if you're familiar with those comics, you know that this take on The Joker is pretty brutal to look at. His face, which was once removed completely, is being held on with safety pins, and it's a grotesque imagining of one of Gotham's darkest villains. Check out the pics below and let us know what you think:

John Lasseter on TOY STORY 4, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, FINDING DORY, and More

While at the Cannes Film Festival, Disney CCO John Lasseter showed off some some clips from upcoming Pixar and Disney films, and talked a little bit about each one. The films he talks about include Toy Story 4, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Doryand Zootopia. The following information comes from Variety.

Toy Story 4:

There still is not a lot of information on Toy Story 4, and no clips were shown, but Lasseter did offer this update:

“I am very excited to be directing again. We’re in the early stages of the film, but it’s shaping up nicely. It’s funny. The story is not as much a continuation of the past films, but a brand new chapter in the ‘Toy Story’ world.”

It will be interesting to see where Pixar actually ends up taking these characters in this new chapter of the toys' lives. From previously reports, it has been described as romantic comedy-type film, and it won't continue the story of the original trilogy of films.

Toy Story 4 will be released on June 16th, 2017.

The Good Dinosaur:

John Lasseter on TOY STORY 4, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, FINDING DORY and More1

When talking about The Good Dinosaur, Lasseter says, “We’re putting our own unique Pixar spin on the dinosaur world.”

The clips were described as being a cross between Tarzan and Lilo & Stitch. The story centers on a character named Arlo, "a lively Apatosaurus with a big heart. After a traumatic event unsettles Arlo’s family, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way – a human boy." Arlo loses his father in a tragic accident, "falls into a river, gets knocked out by a rock and finds himself in a land far away...he makes the trek back home to the Clawed-Tooth Mountains." It's there that he meets the human cave-boy Spot. Lasseter says:

“This is a boy and a dog story, but the roles are reversed. Arlo, the dinosaur, is the boy in the story and Spot is the dog”

Lasseter also talked about the visuals of the film that are described as being "more real than any scene from a Pixar production."

“It’s unlike anything we’ve had before. The level of believability we’re striving for in this film is going to be breathtaking.”

The Good Dinosaur will be released in theaters on November 25th, 2015.

Finding Dory:

John Lasseter on TOY STORY 4, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, FINDING DORY and More2

It has been 12 years since Finding Nemo was released in theaters, but Finding Dory is a sequel that only takes place six months after the events of the first movie.

In the story, Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) and Nemo team up on an adventure to find her family. Dory’s parents will be played by Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy. The report goes on to offer up the following information on the setting of the story:

Among the adventures in store this time: a dip through the Pacific Ocean where shipping containers have fallen off boats; a frightening encounter with a giant squid; wading past a kelp forest on California’s northern coastline; and new friends in the form of an octopus and a whale-shark named Destiny.

Lasseter adds that Destiny “thinks she’s a whale, but she’s actually a shark.” The movie is scheduled for release on June 17th, 2016.

Zootopia

John Lasseter on TOY STORY 4, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, FINDING DORY and More3

As for Zootopia, Lasseter describes it as being “classically Disney.” As we've previously learned, the movie was inspired by talking animals who act like humans, and was inspired by film such as Disney's Robin Hood. Here are some additional details about the film:

In the city of Zootopia, humans don’t exist, and animals are divided into classes, where they face prejudice based on preconceived notions about their species. The plot focuses on bunny cop Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) — sidelined into a boring career of writing parking tickets because she’s the first rabbit in the police force — who teams with a fox named Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) to crack a missing mammal case.

There was also a clip screened at the event that focuses on Judy as she is being "stalled by an exchange with a sloth who works at the DMV." Apparently it earned big laughs from the audience.

Zootopia hits theaters on March 4th, 2016.

Did you see the season finale of The Flash!? I won't spoil anything for you in case you haven't, but holy crap, it was awesome. It sure did leave fans on the edge of their seat! Run, Barry! Run! Wow, what an amazing first season that was. I can't wait for season two, which is set to premiere later this fall.

The CW has released a promo spot for Season 2 featuring producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg teasing what we should expect to see later this year. They talk about it having some of the biggest special effects of the series, as well as a new way they're going to introduce some new villains. There's no actual footage from Season 2 revealed in the promo, but it's still worth watching if you're a fan of the show.

Revisit Some of ILM's Best Movie Moments in 40th Anniversary Video

$

It's rare that you can point to one specific company that changed the world of entertainment forever, but perhaps more than any other, Industrial Light & Magic is that company. George Lucas' visual effects company redefined what was possible in the '70s when Star Wars came out, and since then it's gone on to continually push the boundaries of technological advancements in blockbuster films. It's safe to say all of our childhoods would have been totally different if ILM never existed.

The company is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and in addition to a nice cover and oral history of its creation in Wired Magazine, there's also a quick little montage of some of ILM's best movie moments. I'd love to see a longer version of something like this that highlights more of their work, but this is still a nice reminder of how much impact they've had on the landscape of modern moviemaking.

COOTIES Trailer: Elijah Wood and Rainn Wilson Fight Off Zombie Kids

Yahoo! Movies has the first trailer for Cooties, a new horror/comedy starring Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, and Alison Pill. They play teachers at a school that becomes infested with zombie kids when a virus spreads, and they end up having to suit up to take them down, hilariously beating the crap out of them with items you'd find at an elementary school. This looks like a super fun film, and I can't wait to see it.

Cooties will play in limited theaters and on VOD starting on September 18th.

From the twisted minds of Leigh Whannell (co-creator of "Saw" and "Insidious") and Ian Brennan (co-creator of "Glee"), "Cooties" is a horror comedy with unexpected laughs and unapologetic thrills. When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. The film stars Elijah Wood ("The Hobbit," "Lord of the Rings"), Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), and Alison Pill ("The Newsroom") as teachers who fight to survive the mayhem while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives.

Matthew McConaughey Rumored to Be Up for Norman Osborn in SPIDER-MAN Reboot

matthew-mcconaughey-rumored-to-be-up-for-norman-osborn-in-spider-man-reboot

Last week, Matthew McConaughey revealed that he had been reading scripts from both Marvel and DC, and that he's actually talked to the studios about working on some of the them. The exact quote come from Variety. When asked if he would ever consider being in a superhero film, he said:

"I’ve read some Marvel and DC scripts and I’ve talked about working with them on some scripts, none of which I’ll share with you what they are — or were. Yeah, I’ve circled some of those. Nothing has been right for me yet. But I’m sure open to it."

When asked what would convince him to actually jump on board one of these films, he said:

"It’s very simple for me. I look at the script. Is the opportunity exciting? Is the money that comes with it exciting? Sure. Is it the possibility of going, 'Hey you can get on a train and it can be a franchise and you could do 3, 4, 5, and have a great time as some kind of superhero or anti-hero.' But I would also look at something like that and say, 'Hey, in success that means you are on the train for a while.' Contractually, you’re going to return to the character over and over. It’s something I asked myself is it something I’d want to return to. Would I be excited to go back and put the shoes on the character again? Going and doing the press tour with that group of people again? I always ask myself those questions again. It starts with the story and character."

There's no word on what superhero film he's been approached with, but a recent rumor suggests that he's up for the role of Norman Osborn in the Spider-Man reboot that's being developed by Marvel and Sony. The new comes from That Hashtag Show (via: MCU Exchange).

The outlet isn't known for breaking a lot of scoops in the past, but they previously revealed some early Avengers: Age of Ultron news that ended up being right, such as the death of a character that I won't say here in case you haven't seen the movie yet, as well as the correct line-up of the final Avengers team at the end of the movie. So I think it might be worth hearing them out.

This is just a rumor for now and nothing more, but it would be interesting to see McConaughey in the role of Norman Osborn. The guy is an incredible actor, and I'd have to see him in the role to see if he could work or not. My initial thought on the prospect is that he would be great! The character would definitely be interesting with that McConaughey swagger and laid back southern drawl.

Now, he did say that nothing that he's read has been right for him yet, so there's a chance that maybe he was approached for the role of Osborn but it's one he's not interested in.

Even though this might not happen, what do you think about the possibility of the actor taking on the role of Norman Osborn?
