I know you've all been anxiously awaiting the trailer to this coming of age movie The Perks of Being a WallflowerThe film stars Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), and it was directed by Stephen Chbosky who also wrote the 1999 novel that the film is based off of. The story follows a shy and unpopular naive outsider high school student "coping with first love (Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs." It actually looks like a really good movie. It's also nice to see Watson in a role outside the world of Hogwarts.

The movie also stars Nina Dobrev, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Sarah Ramos, Ezra Miller, Erin Wilhelmi, and Landon Pigg. The movie comes out on September 14th. Watch the trailer, and let us know if you think it looks good!

20th Century Fox has released a new TV spot for Ridley Scott's Prometheus. The trailer is cut to the creepy little tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, and it shows what seems to be a big ass spoiler that was plastered on one of the posters for the film. I saw this on TV before I posted it on the site and really couldn't avoid seeing what I saw. I don't understand why the studio this put this scene in a TV Spot. Oh well, maybe it's not as big of a spoiler as I think it is.

The highly anticipated sci-fi thriller stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron. The story follows a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.

The amazing looking movie is set to be released on June 8th!

IRON MAN 3 - First Official Set Photo

Marvel has officially announced that they've started principal photography for Shane Black's Iron Man 3. The studio sent out the picture with the press release giving us our first official photo from the film. It features Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) admiring his collection of Iron Man suits. So cool! I can't wait to see how this movie turns out!

Here's the full press release:

Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated film IRON MAN 3, directed by Shane Black, has commenced production in Wilmington, North Carolina. The production schedule will also include locations in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, Miami, Florida and China.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Iron Man 3” returns Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,”) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (“Iron Man 2”) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Happy Hogan. Set for release in the U.S. on May 3, 2013, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” marks the second feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

“Iron Man 3” continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world’s favorite billionaire inventor/Super Hero, Tony Stark aka “Iron Man.”  Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film.  Executive producers on the project include Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard and Dan Mintz.

The creative production team on the film includes two-time Oscar®-winning director of photography John Toll, ASC (“Braveheart,” “Legends of the Fall”), production designer Bill Brzeski (“The Hangover,” “Due Date”), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) and Peter S. Elliot (“Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), and costume designer Louise Frogley (“Quantum of Solace,” “Contagion”).

Marvel Studios most recently produced the critically acclaimed “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which set the all-time, domestic 3-day weekend box office record at $207.4 million. The film, which is currently in release, continues to shatter box office records and is The Walt Disney Studios’ highest-grossing global and domestic release of all time and marks the studios’ fifth film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide.

In the summer of 2011, Marvel successfully launched two new franchises with “Thor,” starring Chris Hemsworth, and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” starring Chris Evans. Both films opened #1 at the box office and have grossed over $800 million worldwide combined. In 2010 “Iron Man 2,” starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the #1 spot in its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million.

In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.”  “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero’s powerful armor and stars alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008, and was an immediate box office success.  Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend.  On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk,” marking its second number one opener of that summer.

Warner Bros. has released a fifth TV spot for The Dark Knight Rises. The spot played during the MTV Movie Awards, and I just want to point out that it doesn't really have any new footage. I'm fine with that, I don't really need to see anymore footage from the film, but I also don't see the point in releasing new spots like this that look almost exactly like the stuff we've already.

The movie hits theaters on July 20th!

Here's the Synopsis:

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

Microsoft opened up their E3 2012 conference with some epically incredible footage from Halo 4. The footage is an awesome mix of live-action, cinematic, and gamplay greatness. The game looks amazing, and I think it will live up to our expectations. I'm a huge fan of Halo, and I'm balls-out excited for this game! I don't even know what that expression "balls-out" even means, but I just used it.

Here's the Synopsis:

Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. Halo 4 marks the start of a new trilogy that begins with its release in 2012.

The story of Halo 4 will be focus more on mystery, exploration and discovery. Developers have described the game as being grand in scope and scale, and suggested that the game will reveal how humanity and the UNSC have adapted to the galaxy after the end of their war with the Covenant, particularly how they have co-opted Forerunner technology.

Check out the new footage of the game below and let us know if it does the job of getting you excited! I'll replace this with a higher resolution video as soon as one becomes available.

Check out this incredibly cool live-action trailer for the video game Hawken. Even if you don't know what Hawken is, you should still watch this! This is the first of a series of digital shorts that we will see. They were directed by Gears of War creative director Jeremiah O'Flaherty. There's some great designs and it's a solid combination of live-action and CGI. I love how the mech armor was done.

Hawken is a mech-based first-person shooter. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic human-colonized planet industrialized to the point of collapse, in which the hunt for resources has become a battle for survival. Four game modes are planned for release: team deathmatch, free-for-all deathmatch, "siege" and another yet-specified unique team game mode; Khang Le has said that they also want to do a co-op"Horde" game mode, resource- and time-permitting. Seven to eight unique maps have been planned for the game on release, with plans to provide additional downloadable content afterwards. There will be three different mech types: a light type, a heavy type, and an all-around type.

This is a free-to-play FPS mech combat game scheduled for launch on 12.12.12. It is the first title to come from indie developer, Adhesive Games, and publisher, Meteor Entertainment.

DREDD Gets a New Image and Detailed Plot Synopsis

The new Judge Dredd movie, simply called Dredd, is slowly but surely making it's way to the big screen, and from everything we've seen and heard it looks like it's going to be pretty baddass. Even the creator of the comic seems happy with the outcome, so that's a big plus for hardcore fans of the comic.

Today we bring you a new photo and a more detailed plot synopsis for the movie. The movie was directed by Pete Travis and stars Karl Urban as The Law, with Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey

Here's the new Plot Synopsis:

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and director Pete Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film. Filmed in 3D with stunning slow motion photography sequences, the film returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra's revered comic strip.

STAR TREK 2 - First Look at J.J. Abrams' Klingon!

$

J.J. Abrams managed to sneak in our first peak at what his Klingons will look like in Star Trek 2 during an interview with MTV. If you look at the image above, behind Abrams you'll see a picture of a Klingon on the computer monitor. I've gotta say... the design is pretty badass! It's just the outer armor of a Klingon, but it's still cool and menacing!

TrekMovie noticed the image and pointed out a photo from a deleted scene in Abrams' 2009 Star Trek movie that shows a very similar design. If you want to watch the deleted scene click here. We already know that Klingons will have a part to play in the Star Trek sequel, so it was only a matter of time before something popped up.

In other Star Trek 2 news, Collider talked to Damon Lindelof recently about the movie and talked a little bit about the film being bigger.

There’s certainly an instinct to just go bigger in the second movie and one of the things that we did was we connected all the sets, so you can just basically follow the actors off the bridge, into a turbo lift, down, walking through a plaza, into the med bay as opposed to [having to] cut every time you do that, because when we were shooting on the Paramount stages we just didn’t have the money to connect all the sets.

He went on to talk about Benedict Cumberbatch's performance as the villain, who may or may not end up being Khan.

Benedict Cumberbatch, I can already say with a certain degree of confidence that he is gonna give an iconic film performance and one of the best sci-fi performances that I’ve ever seen. And not even having seen the movie yet, just sitting there in video village with the headphones on. So I’m really psyched.

I love great villain performances! It's good to know we have one to look forward to seeing. What do you all think about the Klingon look?
