New HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3 Trailer is Absurdly Over-The-Top

A new trailer for Tom Six's The Human Centipede 3 [Final Sequence] has been released, and holy shit! This franchise has been taken to an insanely ridiculous level that I just can't seem to wrap my head around. The first two movies look tame compared to this one, which is a weird thing to say because they were so disgustingly twisted. This next one adds some goofy humor to it, which somehow makes it seem even more messed up.

Bully prison warden Bill Boss (The Human Centipede Part I’s Dieter Laser) has a lot of problems; prison riots, medical costs, staff turnover, but foremost he is unable to get the respect he thinks he deserves from his inmates and the state Governor (Eric Roberts). He constantly fails in experimenting with different ideas for the ideal punishment to get the inmates in line, which drives him completely insane. Under threats of termination by the Governor, his loyal right hand man Dwight (The Human Centipede Part II’s Laurence R Harvey) comes up with a brilliant idea. An idea based on the notorious Human Centipede movies, that will literally and figuratively get the inmates on their knees, creating the ultimate punishment and deterrent for anyone considering a life of crime.

The Human Centipede 3 opens in theaters and on VOD May 22nd. Oh! And the trailer is definitely NSFW. Will you be watching this final chapter in the story?

J.J. Abrams Reveals The Weirdest Moment Making STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Another day, another piece of that Vanity Fair interview with writer/director J.J. Abrams centering on the highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The outlet has revealed another snippet of their conversation with the filmmaker, and in it, J.J. reveals his weirdest moment working on the movie.

Maybe the weirdest moment, which came months after production, was the first time I sat down with John Williams to show him about a half an hour of the movie. I can’t describe the feeling. All I will say is, just to state the facts of it: I am about to show John Williams 30 minutes of a Star Wars movie that he has not seen that I directed.
I mean, none of what I just said to you was ever going to happen in any form. John Williams—he was the DVD or Blu-ray of my childhood because we didn’t, of course, have VHS tapes of movies to watch when we wanted to. So I would buy John Williams soundtracks, often for movies I had not seen yet, and I would lie on the floor in my room with my headphones on listening to the soundtracks which would essentially tell me the story of the movie that I didn’t know. And I’d look at the photographs on the back of the album and I tried to read what I could about the movie—but really, I would just listen to these soundtracks. So it was an amazing thing to get to know him. But the weirdest thing was the idea that I was showing him scenes from a Star Wars movie he hadn’t seen yet. And the fact that they were scenes that I directed—that’s probably as surreal as it gets in my professional life experience.

That must have been a pretty cool thing for him. As someone who has never been a die-hard Star Wars fan (I was much more into the Indiana Jones movies as a kid), I'm finding myself surprised at how much I'm looking forward to The Force Awakens. The way Abrams is able to capture the sense of adventure on screen has always been one of his greatest strengths, and there's so much promise in the air right now about these new movies that it's impossible not to get swept up in the excitement. We'll find out in a few months if he's created something that lives up to all of the hype — Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th.

POLTERGEIST Remake Gets An Infographic And A New Clip

Like many of you, I feel like Sam Raimi and Gil Kenan's remake of Poltergeist doesn't really need to exist because the first one still holds up as a great movie. But I guess if you're going to remake a classic, there are much worse ways to do it than casting Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jared Harris and having original producer Steven Spielberg return to serve as a producer this time around. I'm certainly not writing this one off before I check it out, and I'm going into it with the hope that it'll be able to carve out its own identity and be an interesting take on the 1982 horror thriller.

20th Century Fox and MGM have released a new clip from the film (via Yahoo), as well as in infographic that details the differences between poltergeists and other supernatural entities. Check them out below. Poltergeist arrives in theaters on May 22nd.

Emily VanCamp Will Be Back as Agent 13 in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Emily VanCamp is set to reprise her role as Agent 13 a.k.a. Sharon Carter in Captain America: Civil War. The character played a small role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She was assigned by S.H.I.E.L.D. to watch over Steve Rogers as his next door neighbor under the alias Kate.

In the comic books, Sharon in the niece of Peggy Carter, who was Steve Rogers' love interest in Captain America: The First Avenger. There’s no information on what her involvement will be in Civil War or how big of a part she’ll play in it, but I imagine they are going to expand it a bit more. It hasn’t been established that she’s Sharon Carter in the MCU yet, so that will most likely happen, and maybe there will be a spark between her and Rogers.

The story follows the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and sees the governments of the world pass an act that is designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This causes the Avengers to split into two factions, some siding with Iron Man and others side with Captain America. This leads to an epic confrontation between the former allies.

VanCamp joins Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Robert Downey Jr., Martin Freeman, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, and Chadwick Boseman.

Captain America: Civil War is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and it opens on May 6th, 2016. VanCamp has starred in series such as Everwood and Revenge, which was just cancelled.

Rad ALIENS Fan Art by Patrick Brown

It’s going to be so damn cool to see Sigourney Weaver back up on the big screen kicking xenomorph ass in Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming Alien film. Aliens is such a great film, and artist Patrick Brown captured the badassery of it in this illustration that pays tribute to the the film and its hero. Here’s what the artist had to say in a statement:

“Ever since it was made official that Sigourney Weaver was coming back for a new Alien movie by Neill Blomkamp, I got really excited and decided to watch Aliens again. That scene at the end where Ripley comes out of the elevator and goes down into the nest to save Newt, it struck me, I forgot how good this movie was. It inspired me to create this, I really wanted to capture the colours and lighting that go on around that scene. The cool blue tones that clash with the warm colours just work so nicely together in that scene, and I've never tried anything like that before so I learnt a lot.
“I tried my best to get Ripley's likeness, I hope it worked. I was trying to go for the "scared out of my mind" look, rather than the "macho hardcore saviour" look, I thought it would stay true to the movie. Man I can't wait to see Ripley back in action, apparently they're kicking off from Aliens, as if 3-4 never happened. I love that idea and I think it's a smart bold move. Can't wait!”

SUPERGIRL Lands a Series Order at CBS

CBS has confirmed that the new Supergirl series has been ordered to series for the 2015-16 season. Greg Berlanti is producing the series through Warner Bros. TV, and it’s the third DC Comics property Berlanti has helped bring to the small screen. He is also working on Arrow and The Flash

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash) and tells the story of Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, "who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be."

The rest of the cast includes Calista Flockhart, who will play Kara’s boss at CatCo, Cat Grant; Mehcad Brooks, who will play Kara’s love interest, Jimmy Olsen; Chyler Leigh, who will be Kara’s doctor sister, Alex Danvers; David Harewood as supervillain Hank Henshaw, known as Cyborg Superman in the DC world; and Laura Benanti, who will play Kara’s birth mother, Alura Zor-El, in a big recurring arc.

On top of that, Helen Slater (Supergirl 1984) and Dean Cain from the series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman will both have roles in the series, but we don’t know what those are yet.

I never watch anything on CBS, but it looks like that’s going to change with the arrival of Supergirl.

5 Awful MORTAL KOMBAT Rip-Off Games That Time Forgot

While Mortal Kombat X fever is spreading accros the country, outsideXbox has taken a look back at the worst Mortal Kombat rip-off games that were released back in the 1990s. After Mortal Kombat became such a huge hit, several other gaming companies wanted to ride on the tails of its success, and we saw a bunch of really bad clones that didn't really live up to the standard set by Mortal Kombat

The video below takes us through the five most terrible Mortal Kombat clones that some of you might not remember. I completely forgot about a lot of these, and this is a hilarious reminder of video games that sucked ass.

In the 1990s, Mortal Kombat became a global phenomenon, spawning movies, albums of confrontational techno and even a live action tour. As with anything successful, lots of games wanted to hop on the bandwagon and grab some of that blood-soaked cash for themselves. But most of them soon realised you can’t just dress your mate in a karate gi, film him doing some kicks in front of a greenscreen and have a smash hit videogame on your hands. Here are the five most egregious Mortal Kombat klones. Sorry, clones.

Details on Martin Freeman’s Character in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

A couple of days ago we learned that Martin Freeman has been cast in Captain America: Civil War. It wasn’t revealed who exactly he will be playing, but Latino-Review has offered up some additional information that gives us a good idea of who Freeman could be playing.

details-on-martin-freemans-character-in-captain-america-civil-war

They say that "Martin Freeman plays some sort of interrogator and he will return to appear in Black Panther." They present that information as fact, and then go on to speculate who that character could be, and the character they bring up makes a lot of sense. He could also serve as an Agent Coulson-type character that can be used to connect certain stories and people together in the MCU.

Freeman could be playing a character from the Marvel comic book universe named Everett Ross. He’s a US Government agent who is assigned to work in Wakanda, which is where Black Panther resides. Ross is an expert at all things Wakanda, and works alongside government agencies and Special Forces teams.

The personality of the character fits Freeman perfectly, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if this is the character that he takes on.

Black Widow Fashion Art by CdCblanc

Artist CdCblanc (aka Georg Friedrich Gebhardt) has a knack for fashion designs. Recently, he dreamed up a collection based on the baddest spy in the Marvel U, Black Widow. Truthfully, I would love to see some of these transition to the real world. I think option 4 (from left to right) is my fave, and while maybe not completely practical (you probably won't find it at Walmart anytime soon), with a little tweaking this could be at a Hot Topic near you someday. If you like his work, make sure to check out his takes on Iron Man and Loki, which I've included below for your perusal. Hope to see more of these fantastic collections soon, but in the meantime you can head to his Deviant Art page to see more of his impressive work.

New MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Featurette Spotlights Max

"Once I was a cop, a road warrior searching for a righteous cause."

Warner Bros. has released a great new featurette for George Miller's highly anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road. The video puts the focus on the iconic badass title character, who is played by Tom Hardy in the movie. It features interviews with the cast and crew who go into depth about the type of character Max has become, and it also shows off some additional footage from the movie.

The movie storms into theaters on May 15th!

Mad Max: Fury Road offers post-apocalyptic action set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.
Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

Also starring Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, X-Men: Days of Future Past), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max, Sleeping Beauty), Nathan Jones (Conan the Barbarian, Troy), Zoe Kravitz (Divergent, X-Men: First Class), Riley Keough (The Runaways, Magic Mike) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers: Age of Extinction).

Hilarious Animated Short Makes Fun of Our Smartphone Addiction

I'll admit, I miss probably miss out on a lot of things going on around me thanks to my iPhone. Being in the kind of business I'm in, I am constantly on it writing stuff, checking e-mails and social media, and other things. It's pretty ridiculous. A lot of people live in the world of their cell phones, and not in the world that is happening around them at the moment. One of the reasons Joss Whedon decided to ditch Twitter is so that he could find stuff in the world outside of it, and he thinks he could do better without it.

I have a hilarious yet kind of sad animated short that makes fun of our smartphone addiction. It comes from Min Alxe, and it follows various characters who are so buried in their phones that they don't even notice the danger going on around them. It's pretty a spectacular commentary on the kind of world that we live in.

First Look at Quentin Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT

Thanks to the cover of Entertainment Weekly, we have our first look at Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film The Hateful Eight. It features Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Kurt Russell rocking a badass 'stash.

As a fan of both Tarantino and westerns, I'm so excited to see how this flick turns out. The director talked to the magazine about it and how it has been scaled down from his last two movies. This Hateful Eight is going to be a little more intimate, but all of the violence we expect from the filmmaker will be there.

“For me it has more of a western ‘Iceman Cometh’ kind of vibe about it. A bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other. That wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle.”

Sounds like a western-style Reservoir Dogs, which is awesome! The cast for the film also includes Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, and Channing Tatum, who has taken a minor role. Here's the story breakdown:

In The Hateful Eight, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

The Weinstein Company will distribute the film, and it's expected to be released sometime this winter.

Sideshow Collectibles has revealed a couple of amazing-looking premium format figures for Batman: Arkham Asylum. There are statues of both The Joker and Batman, and as you'll see, they are pretty damn awesome. They won't be the only characters we see, either. There's going to be a whole collection of characters released that collectors are going to want to get their hands on.

First up, The Joker:

Teetering over 24” tall, the deranged criminal mastermind is nearly bursting with glee, seizing control of the Arkham Asylum in what might be his most diabolical scheme ever. Sporting an impeccably tailored recreation of his weathered purple pinstripe suit, the self-styled Clown Prince of Crime waves his ‘Ace of Spades’ revolver in one hand, while the other conceals more tricks up his sleeve.
With one look at the maniacal glint in his eye and disturbing smile etched across his face, you can almost hear Mark Hamill’s lilting voice deliver the Joker’s jeering taunts, as Gotham City’s most sadistic villain positively sways in anticipation of going face-to-face with Bats once again. And surely, it won’t be long before the Dark Knight is on his way…

Next up, Batman:

Celebrating a long legacy of comic book mythos, 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum delivered a revolutionary experience with advanced, compelling gameplay on every level – from immersive high-impact brawls and nail-biting stealth, to multifaceted forensic investigation, epic supervillain encounters and glimpses into Bruce Wayne’s tortured psychology. Straight from the exciting video game which sparked an entire groundbreaking saga, Sideshow is proud to present the headline hero of our new Arkham collection, the Batman: Arkham Asylum Premium Format™ Figure.
Trapped in the depths of a mental hospital for the criminally insane with Gotham City’s most dangerous villains, Batman is poised for combat atop an Arkham Asylum themed base.
An interchangeable swap-out hand keeps a Batarang at the ready, as the solitary crime fighter moves stealthily in the shadows, instigating fear among enemies. Decked out in his industrial style Batsuit from the game, the Dark Knight’s iconic black and grey costume features intricate texture detailing, wicked bladed gauntlets and a free-flowing tailored cape.

First Trailer For SENSE8, The New Netflix Series From The Wachowskis

The Wachowskis haven't exactly had a hot run at the box office lately with Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending underperforming (to put it mildly), but I'm very excited to see what they have up their sleeves with Sense8, their first attempt at telling stories on the small screen. Netflix scooped up the show and the full season will be available on June 5th, but now Buzzfeed has the first trailer and an interview with co-creator Joe Straczynski, who revealed some interesting info about how the show will work. If you're looking for more details, read the whole piece there, but if you'd like to see the trailer, you can check that out below.

Another piece of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice concept art has surfaced, featuring Wonder Woman as she will appear in the film. We got our first look at the Amazon Princess wearing a cape a few days ago, and it seems like the majority of fans didn't like it. I like the costume design, but I personally think the cape looks heavy and will just get in the way in the middle of a battle. I don't see how it will help her in a fight. The concept art below comes from Umberto Gonzalez. Hit us up with your thoughts in the comments.

Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and William Hurt's General Ross Confirmed For CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

$

0

Production has officially begun on Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, and earlier this morning, we wrote about how Emily VanCamp would be returning as Agent 13 in the clash between superheroes. But she's not the only actor who will be added to the mix: Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and William Hurt's General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross will appear in the film as well. Rudd got his own little paragraph in the press release:

After his debut in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man,” ”Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”) will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in “Captain America: Civil War.”

And casually mixed in with the rest of the cast is William Hurt, who hasn't appeared on screen in the Marvel universe since 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Marvel has distanced itself from that film by not including many references to it in the MCU movies since its debut, and for good reason: it's one of the MCU's most forgettable entries. When Mark Ruffalo replaced Edward Norton as The Hulk in The Avengers, I assumed that Kevin Feige and the people at Marvel were just going to move forward without ever bringing any of those actors back until The Hulk got another solo film, but it looks like things are heating up enough in the MCU that it's time to call in the big guns. Ross' appearance makes sense, considering the Civil War comics centered around a superhero registration act, so there needs to be a government presence involved.

This is also the first time I've seen this official synopsis for the movie, which may or may not be new:

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

This film is already very crowded, but I suppose it will be good practice for The Russo Brothers since they will have the even-more-crowded Avengers: Infinity War to look forward to. Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters on May 6th, 2016.

It's been a long time since we've seen the Griswolds on a crazy adventure, but they're back in a new reboot/sequel called Vacation. The story follows a grown up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) as he follows in his father's footsteps and takes his family on a surprise cross-country road trip to America’'s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World!

Today we have a hilarious red-band trailer for you to watch that gives us our first look at the film, and they make it very clear that this new Vacation will stand on its own. There are some great moments in this trailer that are sure to make anyone with a sense of humor laugh.

The movie also stars Christina Applegate as Rusty's wife; Chris Hemsworth, in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; Charlie Day, who plays a river rafting guide; and Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins, who play Rusty’’s sons, James and Kevin. And of course Chevy Chase and Beverly D’’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold.

The movie hits theaters on July 29th, and I can't wait to see it!

Watch George Miller Direct Some Crazy Action Sequences in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

The Playlist points out that there's a B-roll video that's popped up online that features 18 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of George Miller directing some of the insane action scenes of Mad Max: Fury Road. The movie looks breathtaking, largely in part to the mostly practical stunts they did out in the Namibian desert. It's one thing to see those stunts presented in a trailer or in the actual movie, but it's an entirely different experience to see how it actually played out on set.

Watching guys swinging around on long poles as vehicles tear through the desert is much more visceral when you know there's real danger involved, and though I'm sure some of that will come across in the final film, it's different to watch it without the benefit of filters, color correction, and editing that come post-production. This is real life, and it's Miller's insane vision on full display.
