Star Wars: The Force Awakens graces the cover of Vanity Fair. It features Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca, who are joined by three of the franchise’s newest heroes, Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and the droid BB-8.

The photo was shot by Annie Leibovitz, and it will show up on the June 2015 issue. We can expect to see even more cool photos when the issue is actually released. Once those photos hit the net, you can bet your ass we’ll be posting them here.

We also have a 45-second behind-the-scenes video revolving around the cover shoot, which features Adam Driver and reveals who he plays in the story. It also offers us some additional info on the role of Lupita Nyong’o. There are some shots of the snowtroopers and more.

The video confirms that Driver is playing the villain Kylo Ren, the masked character in the black cloak who wields the crossguard lightsaber. There's a shot of Driver in costume without the mask in the video. There have been rumors of this character's true nature, and it will be interesting to find out if they are true or not.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th.

Marvel fans have been waiting to see the hero Black Widow get her own solo film, but I don't think this is what they were looking for. Thanks to Saturday Night Live we have a glimpse of what that movie might look like… as a romantic comedy. They made a hilarious parody trailer for Black Widow: Age of Me and it follows the international assassin as she takes on an internship at Fashion Weekly magazine and starts a complicated romantic relationship with the new man in her life, Ultron. This looks like it would be the most adorable Marvel film ever made.

There are less than two weeks until George Miller’s long awaited Mad Max: Fury Road blows up in theaters. At this point you are either sold on its awesomeness or you're not. If you’re not, I don’t know what your problem is. Anyway, to to help fuel the excitement of the fans even more, Warner Bros. has released six action-packed clips from the movie for you to enjoy.

Mad Max: Fury Road offers post-apocalyptic action set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.
Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

The movie will be released in theaters on May 15th.

Grey Hulk Was Originally Supposed to Appear in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

A behind-the-scenes video for Avengers: Age of Ultron was released over the weekend that focused on the what went into bringing the Hulk to life again on the big screen again. There’s a lot of great information, but one of the most intriguing bits included the fact that at one point during the movie the Hulk was originally supposed to turn grey.

The plan was to have Hulk turn grey when he was under Scarlet Witch’s spell. So during that whole sequence of him fighting Tony Stark in his Hulkbuster armor, and destroying the city, he was supposed to be grey. There’s no reason given as to why they didn’t ultimately go that route, but it would have been pretty awesome to see the grey Hulk make an appearance in the MCU. I guess the studio opted to keep him green so the color change didn't confuse general audiences?

Pop! even released a grey "Savage Hulk" vinyl figure for the movie, so that must have been the plan for awhile.

Will Smith’s Full Deadshot Costume and Mask Revealed in SUICIDE SQUAD Photo

Yesterday the first photo of Suicide Squad’s Task Force X was revealed by director David Ayer. It didn’t seem like fans were really impressed with what they saw, and many of them expressed their disappointment.

It’s hard to really judge how the movie will turn out at this point because it’s just a photo. I’m looking forward to seeing these characters in action, because it’s at that point that we can really form a solid opinion. While we wait for that, we have another official photo to share with you of Will Smith wearing his full Deadshot costume.

This is a much more detailed look at his character, which also includes the iconic mask that he’ll be wearing, and I’m curious to see what the reaction of the fans will be. I actually think it looks pretty legit. I included some comic art below so that you can compare the two.

One of the biggest complaints with the first photo is that the costumes looked too much like cosplay. I will say that the outfits definitely look cosplayable, and some cosplayers out there might have the talent to do an even better job. Thanks to Ayer for posting the image!

Marvel Superheroes Get Retro Pulp Redesigns

With Avengers: Age of Ultron blowing up in theaters this past weekend, artist Chris Schweizer created a series of Marvel superhero art that take some of the Avengers and X-Men characters back in time. The characters look like they came right out of a pulp adventure story. There really needs to be a comic book or animated series based on this version of these heroes.

Earlier today we posted a video from Vanity Fair that gave us a unique behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The magazine has released six new photos from the film that were taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The images include an official reveal of Adam Driver playing the dark-cloaked Sith villain Kylo Ren, as well as actress Lupita Nyong’o playing her motion capture character, who is a pirate by the name of Maz Kanata. Then, of course there are Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, a group of of various alien creatures, and members of the film crew, such as director J.J. Abrams

Since today is May the 4th, you can expect to see few more Star Wars-related items throughout the day. Apparently, we're also going to get a first look at Gwendoline Christie's character sometime today, so stay tuned!

Love him or hate him, Mr. Sunday Movies is back with a new episode in which he attempts to point out ever Easter egg and reference in Avengers: Age of Ultron. You might already know a lot of this stuff, but you might not. There were definitely some things pointed out in the video that I missed and didn't think about. He also goes into things from past Marvel movies and comics and speculates about some things that we might see in future MCU films. I always find these videos interesting because they give us more things to think about and discuss with our friends.

Atlus has announced that their Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains video game will be released on the Nintendo 3DS starting May 12th. They've released a brand new trailer for the game that focuses on the characters. The international title of the game is Attack on Titan: Last Wings of Humanity, and I also embedded a previous Japanese trailer that was released for it. Here's some information regarding the story:

The game follows the story of the anime, beginning from the year 845, when the titans first attacked and demolished the walls, the player controls Eren at first, but as the game progresses, Mikasa, Armin, and other members of the Survey Corps become playable. The game ends on the point where the anime ends.

The game looks like a lot of fun, and it seems like any fan of the anime who has a 3DS is sure to enjoy playing through it.

Iron Man and Captain America Fight in Promo Art for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

We have our first piece of promo art for Captain America: Civil War, and it features Iron Man and Captain America about to collide in a heated battle with each other. We've been seeing the tension build between these two heroes since their first meeting in the MCU, and they actually got into a pretty crazy brawl in Avengers: Age of Ultron

The art you see below was posted by Umberto Gonzalez a.k.a. El Mayimbe with the caption, "BOOM! RT! #MARVEL #CIVILWAR#CAPTAINAMERICA #IRONMAN #HH #promo #art #artwork #marvelcomics."

Each of the costumes have slightly different designs from what we've seen in the movies. This is just a piece of preliminary concept/promo art, so the final designs we see in the film may turn out differently. This is just a fun tease of what is to come.

Trailer for Simon Pegg's Sci-Fi Comedy ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING

A trailer has been released for Simon Pegg's upcoming sci-fi comedy called Absolutely Anything. In the story his character Neil is given the power to do anything he wants thanks to a counsel of aliens to see if he will use the absolute power for good. Of course, upon discovering the powers, some of the first things that he decides to do are give himself a better looking body, a better look at his hot downstairs neighbor (played by Kate Beckinsale), and gives his dog the ability to talk.

The movie comes from the minds behind the classic comedy troupe Monty PythonTerry Jones directed the film, and it also stars Terry GilliamEric IdleJohn Cleese, and Michael Palin as the aliens in the movie. The film kind of reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "Mr. Dingle, the Strong," in which aliens come down to earth and give an ordinary man superhuman strength to see what he does with it.

The movie looks incredibly fun, and here's the synopsis:

Absolutely Anything follows a disillusioned school teacher (Pegg) who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens (voiced by Cleese, Gilliam, Jones, Palin & Idle), watching him from space.
As he struggles to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (voiced by Robin Williams) to help him along the way.
Mishap after mishap finally leads him to the ultimate conundrum that all men dread and at which many have failed….should he choose the girl… or the dog… ?

The movie will be released in the U.K. on August 14th. There's no U.S. release date yet.

Happy Star Wars Day, everyone. On the heels of the awesome Vanity Fair photos and behind-the-scenes video from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, here's a fun little animated video from the people at Immersus Media that sees R2-D2 and BB-8 hanging out, amusingly trying to play some sports, and pranking C-3PO. It's less than a minute long, so check it out if you can and brighten your Star Wars Day with the thoughts of these two droids cruising around the universe getting into trouble.

J.J. Abrams Talks About The Return of Han Solo in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

"Chewie, we're home." With those three words, Harrison Ford electrified audiences at Star Wars Celebration and across the world in the newest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Seeing Han Solo on screen again brought tears to the eyes of many fans, and it pushed the excitement for J.J. Abrams' upcoming film to a whole new level.

Vanity Fair has been publishing some great Star Wars-related stuff over the past couple of days, and in a brief snippet of an interview with Abrams (the rest of which will arrive online later this week), the director spoke about working with Ford and seeing him slip back into the character after all of these years:

But the magic of Star Wars isn’t all about the creatures; the best effect in the wildly popular new trailer (88 million views and counting!) may have been Harrison Ford, slipping seamlessly back into Han Solo’s classic slow grin. Abrams himself was surprised by the performance and said that Ford “was excited to get back in those shoes again, which was really interesting because I thought he hadn’t been a fan. I kept hearing those rumors when I was a kid.” Abrams did have one specific note for the veteran actor: “I knew that he had done in some movies a kind of more growly thing, and I didn’t want Han to be growly.” Whatever Abrams said must have worked because, as the director himself put it, “There was a fire in his eyes that you see in the movie.”

I think I speak for all of us when I say that's pretty exciting to hear. Ford has been accused of phoning in his performance in a number of films over the past decade, and I was afraid — like J.J. was — that the actor might bring some of his previous baggage with this role back to this performance. (It's widely known that he wanted his character to die in Return of the Jedi.) But it sounds like he was energized by the new blood and getting to revisit the iconic character again, and it's also nice that Abrams put the kibosh on the whole "growly" thing that has permeated his roles over the past few years. Hearing Han growl wouldn't fit with his character, and after hearing Abrams' quotes, I'm even more excited to see The Force Awakens. Expect more Star Wars news in the coming days.

Vanity Fair (via: Star Wars) has a new photo of the chrome Stormtrooper that we saw in action in the last teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The name of the character is Captain Phasma, and as previously reported, she is played by Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie

The character is a Stormtrooper commander who is an Officer of the First Order, which is the new name of the Empire. It is rumored that she is on a mission to hunt down deserter Finn (John Boyega).

I love the look of this character, and I'm curious to know what the story is behind her, how she rose up through the ranks, and what led to the creation of the Chrome Trooper military squadron that she apparently leads. They are said to be the Navy Seals of the Star Wars universe.

Sci-Fi Short Film TWO WORLDS Tells The Tale of Two Unlikely Friends

For the past five years, filmmaker Andy Lefton has been working on the animation, compositing, effects, and sound design for his short film "Two Worlds," which tells the story of a robot who crash-lands on a desolate planet and a stranded alien who helps it. The short is finally finished, and you can check it out in full in the player below. It's very obviously influenced by Star Wars (the Tatooine-esque desert planet, the Max Rebo-looking character design for the alien, the occasional wipe transition), but there's a bit of WALL*E in there too. Though no words are spoken in the short, the expressive eyes of the characters tell you everything you need to know. Thanks to Andy for sending this our way. New SAN ANDREAS Trailer Reveals The Annihilation of California

With the devastating earthquake in Nepal still fresh on everyone's minds, it may be tough to watch this new trailer for San Andreas. The "disaster porn" film dramatizes what would happen if "The Big One" strikes in California, leaving chaos, destruction, and thousands of people in its wake while a family struggles to survive. I'm sure Warner Bros. was hoping people would think this might be fine summer escapist entertainment (Dwayne Johnson is always fun to watch), but with real images of this sort of havoc on the news right now, I'm not sure if people will want to shell out $15 to go see it on a big screen when it arrives on May 29th. What do you think? Will you go see San Andreas this summer?

After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter.

But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.

The action thriller “San Andreas,” from New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures, reunites Dwayne Johnson with director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, following their collaboration on the global hit “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”

The film also stars Carla Gugino (“Night at the Museum,” TV’s “Entourage”), Alexandra Daddario (“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” TV’s “True Detective”), Ioan Gruffudd (“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), Archie Panjabi (TV’s “The Good Wife”), Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Australian TV’s “Home and Away”), Art Parkinson (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti (“Cinderella Man”).

“San Andreas” is produced by Beau Flynn (“Hercules,” “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”). Richard Brener, Samuel J. Brown, Michael Disco, Rob Cowan, Tripp Vinson and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Carlton Cuse, story by Andre Fabrizio & Jeremy Passmore.

The creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Steve Yedlin (“Looper”), production designer Barry Chusid (“The Day After Tomorrow”), editor Bob Ducsay (“Godzilla”), VFX producer Randall Starr (“Into the Storm”), VFX supervisor Colin Strause (“The Avengers”), and costume designer Wendy Chuck (“Twilight”). The music is by Andrew Lockington.

“San Andreas” was shot on location in The Gold Coast and Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The film is slated to open in theatres in both 3D and 2D on Friday, May 29, 2015.

POKEMON Characters Cosplayed as Armored Samurai Warriors

This awesome Pokémon cosplay re-imagines Pikachu and Umbreon as samurai-inspired warriors from the future. The battle armored costumes were designed by cosplayer SpiritRising7, who had this to say regarding Pikachu's suit:

“Costume has light-up eyes and lights on sword (electric plasma light) and shield. Due to bright outdoor photo, weapon lights were turned off to conserve battery life and glow effects added in PS (shoutouts to RokuRex).”

As you can see, the costumes turned out to be pretty amazing, and I'm sure fans of the franchise would love to see a story built around these characters. The photos were taken by B1NH Photography and Miss Ansa.

Kevin Feige Reveals Secret About The MCU's Infinity Gauntlet

$
0
0

During a recent interview with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, he revealed a pretty big piece of information regarding the Infinity Gauntlet in the Marvel cinematic universe.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

If you saw Avengers: Age of Ultron then you know that Thanos pops up during the mid-credits sequence of the movie and retrieves the Infinity Gauntlet. When he does this he says, "Fine, I’ll do it myself."

I just want to point out to you at this time that there was an Infinity Gauntlet on display in Odin's Vault in the Thor films. At the time of seeing it, I wasn’t sure if Thanos was taking it from the vault or not, but Feige clears that up, and in the process he lets us in on a big secret.

While talking to Cinema Blend, Feige says that the Infinity Gauntlet that we saw at the end of Age of Ultron was not the one in Odin's vault. He went on to explain:

"There are two different gloves. That was not Odin’s vault that you see at the end."

Two different gloves huh? That's interesting. For those of you not familiar with the Infinity Gauntlet, it’s a glove specifically constructed to hold what are known as The Infinity Stones in the MCU. These stones include the Power Stone (as seen in Guardians of the Galaxy); the Space Stone (the Tesseract from Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers); the Reality Stone (the Aether from Thor: The Dark World); the Mind Stone (the gem from Loki’s staff in The Avengers and The Avengers: Age of Ultron) and the Time Stone and Soul Stone, which we still have not seen.

There is no information on why there are two Gauntlets in the MCU. It could prove to be both hurtful and helpful to the challenges that the Avengers will face in Avengers: Infinity War. It will be interesting to see what Marvel has planned for these.

The image above confirms that Thanos will eventually collect all six Infinity Stones. Does this mean that maybe a Marvel hero could rise to the challenge to face Thanos with a Gauntlet of their own?

One of our writers Bryan has a theory that Thanos will use the Infinity Gauntlet to destroy half the universe, and that one of the heroes could use the other one to restore it. I believe there are only one set of Infinity Stones though, so I'm not sure how that will work unless they take them from each other. This theory kind of goes in line with some of the previous rumors we heard about Avengers: Infinity War.

By the time Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 comes around, Steve Rogers is dead and Thor is in prison and will not be in the movie. Some of the potential team members that might be in Infinity War Part I include Scarlet Witch, Vision, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Captain Marvel, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, and more. It’s also rumored that when Part 2 is released all of the Avengers will return — including Steve Rogers. Maybe one of the things that the Infinity Gauntlet does is bring Captain America back to life, possibly along with other Avengers. It does have that power.

That’s just speculation, so feel free to include your theories in the comment section below.

The PG-13 rating was created with good intentions, but starting with the controversy surrounding the first PG-13 film, Red Dawn, the choices for receiving that rating have mutated and caused some serious problems with the way mainstream movies are made today.

Many of you probably know this information already, but for those who don't, or those who are just looking for a quick refresher, The Dissolve has put together an entertaining animated video that traces the history of the rating and the influence it's had on Hollywood over the past thirty years. Check it out below.
