THOR 2 Villain to be Played by Mads Mikkelsen?

$

0

Marvel is gearing up to get Thor 2 into production, and they are currently in talks with Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Valhalla Rising) to take on the role of a villain in the story. There's no word on what villain he'll play, but it's in addition to Tom Hiddleston's Loki who will obviously have a big part in making Thor's life a living hell. Mikkelson will fit right into this world, and I think he'll make a great villain.

If cast he'll join most of the cast from the original Thor film including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman. The sequel is being directed by Alan Taylor who worked on Game of Thrones, and from what we've heard he'll be bringing that setting and style to the world of Asgard, which will be cool to see.

The script was written by Don Payne, who co-wrote the first draft of the first movie, and Robert Rodat is currently polishing it up. Thor 2 will be released on November 15th, 2013, and production is expected to start later this summer.

What villain do you think Mikkelsen will be playing?

ZOMBIE PLAYGROUND - Incredible Geek Art and Video Game Concept

$

Check out this incredibly cool art from Jason Chan for an independent video game concept called Zombie Playground. This is such a cool concept, and it spawned from a piece of art created a few years ago showing a group of kids taking out zombies on a playground. I'm sure you'll recognize it below. It's the last piece of art in the series. The creator even started a Kickstarter campaign to help raise money to develop the game.

Here's a description released for the game:

You take on the role of a kid during a zombie apocalypse as seen through his or her imagination.  Your school is overrun by the undead, and it's up to you and your friends to do whatever it takes to survive!

Zombie Playground is an online, team based, action arena game with RPG elements.  Gameplay will be deep, challenging, and rewarding.  The game combines childhood nostalgia with horrific monsters, visceral combat, and a unique atmosphere straight out of a child’s nightmares.  We do want to make it very clear: this is not a game for kids!

The mood we want to capture Zombie Playground is the feeling that you had as a child when you were completely immersed in your imagination fighting monsters, shooting guns, and doing things that you thought were cool from your favorite movies, comics, and video games.  For Zombie Playground, the setting is inspired from popular Zombie franchises and will take place in the local middle school.  We aim to deliver all of the horror and tension associated with zombie titles, but spiced up with some good old childhood nostalgia.  It can be easily explained in the following formula:

Goonies + Attack the Block + Walking Dead = Zombie Playground

Sounds awesome! I'd play it! Check out the art and let us know what you think of the concept!

THE EXORCIST Being Adapted into a TV Series

$

0

The Exorcist is one of the most terrifying movies I've ever seen, even to this day when I watch it the hairs on the back of my next stand up. I even did a little write-up on the film and how it changed my life. It's just a creepy ass movie, and now it's going to be a creepy ass TV series.

Martha Marcy May Marlene writer and director, Sean Durkin, is adapting the horror classic into a ten-episode television series. He's being backed up by Morgan Creek and by producer Roy Lee, who helped develop films such as The Departed and The Ring.

Vulture describes what this series is going to focus on, "Unlike the iconic 1973 film, Durkin’s version of The Exorcist follows the events leading up to a demonic possession and especially the after-effects of how a family copes with it: In short, not well (really, after you start seeing stuff like this, can you blame them?), and when medical and psychiatric explanations fail, the desperate family turns to the church, with Father Damien Karras finally brought in to attempt the exorcism."

This isn't the only Exorcist series being developed for TV. Transformers and Real Steel producer Don Murphy and Susan Montford’s Angryfilms are creating an original idea called The Exorcist Handbook, their own TV series that deals with the eviction of unwanted demons. Murphy describes the story saying, “It's all about the main character, who [only] became an exorcist to help the woman he loves. It's going to be intense and scary.”

I have no doubt that an Exorcist series will do very well on TV. There's a lot of horror fantics out in the world like myself who will galdly tune in, and then there are those who's curiosity will get the better of them. I hope it turns out good! It will be interesting to see how the craziness translates to the small screen, but with shows like The Walking Dead and American Horror Story, I'm sure they'll be able to get away with a lot. Would you watch a TV series based on The Exorcist?

IRON MAN 3 - Ashley Hamilton In Talks For Role of Firepower

$

Shane Black has found one of the villains for Iron Man 3. Variety reports that Ashley Hamilton is in talks to play the small part of government cyborg Firepower. You may recall that in the comic books, the character is the pilot of an experimental armored suit under the secret mission dubbed Project: Firepower. He eventually uses the suit to battle Iron Man.

Hamilton is not only the son of George Hamilton, but the stepson of singer Rod Stewart. He is also a personal friend of Robert Downey Jr., but this would mark the first time they have worked together. Hamilton appeared on the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars before becoming a correspondent on Extra.

Production is set to start this month with Black at the helm of a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce. The story will be a blend of elements from Warren Ellis' six-issue Iron Man: Extremis, and focuses on the spread of a virus through nanotechnology. Robert Downey Jr. returns as billionaire Tony Stark, while Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale and Rebecca Hall also star. Iron Man 3 is slated for release on May 3, 2013.

What do you think about Hamilton possibly taking on this character in the movie?

Is the action movie dead? Have the manliest of men fallen to computer graphics? Are steroids no match for super powers? Has high testosterone lost the battle to tights? This fan made trailer for The Expendables 2 gives a big muscly middle finger to the superhero movies, and calls everyone everywhere to man up, and get your action movie on.
Personally, I'm all for well done superhero movies that have amazing stories. I'll take othat over brainless explosions anyday. But when you put together the cast they have for The Expendables 2.... isn't there room for both???

PROMETHEUS Featurette with All New Footage - The Vision

Another day, another new video featurette for Prometheus spoiling us with more new footage. I'm serious, this actually has a lot of new footage. So if you don't want to see anymore of this movie, don't watch it. That being said, the footage shown is pretty awesome. The video also includes interviews with Ridely Scott and the cast as they discuss bringing the vision of this story to life.

I was talking with my uncle the other day about how when he saw the first Alien film he knew nothing about it. All he had to go off of was that creepy glowing egg on the poster. These days we get to watch half of the movie online before it's even released. It's kind of sad to think that when it comes to these kinds of epic big films, we'll already know so much about it that there will be hardly anything left to surprise us when we finally see it in theaters. Unless... you live under a rock.

Prometheus launches into theaters on June 8th, and as long as the studio keeps releasing footage I'll keep watching it. I just can't help myself, and I know most of you can't either so enjoy the video!

The movie follows a team of explorers who discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Making of PIRANHA 3DD: Boobs, Blood, and Busey

Funny or Die has released a new behind the scenes spoof video for Piranha 3DD that makes fun of those cheesy Oscar videos.

The cast, including David Hasselhoff, David Koechner, Gary Busey, and Katrina Bowden, all offer up ridiculous quotes about the film, calling it the greatest movie of all time, in hopes that it gets nominated for every Academy Award available. The video header even says, "For Your Consideration. All Awards. All Categories. All Time."

These interviews are intercut with clips from the movie, and there's plenty of nudity to go around. This movie is going to be ludicrous, and that's exactly what the filmmakers are going for. Take a look below and let us know what you think.

Bradley Cooper Sets up NAVY Seal Movie AMERICAN SNIPER

$

0

This new NAVY Seal movie American Sniper will be Bradley Cooper's first film project under his Warner Bros-based production company, 22nd & Indiana. Cooper will be producing the film, and will most likely star in it as well.

The film will be an adaptation of a badass sounding autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle called American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military HistoryThis definitley sounds like a movie I will want to watch, as I'm a big fan of military films. Jason Dean Hall has been hired to write the script.

According to THR, "The book reveals how Texas native Kyle came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American. The book has been praised for its frankness in telling a first-person account of a warrior who shoots from far and close distances. Giving the book its emotional core are passages from Kyle’s wife, who slowly watches as her husband’s affection turns from her to the SEALs and war."

This seems like a pretty awesome role for Cooper to take on, and it sounds like it will make for a hell of a good film. I think I'm going to have to read this book.

Here's the full description of the book:

He is the deadliest American sniper ever, called “the devil” by the enemies he hunted and “the legend” by his Navy SEAL brothers . . .

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle’s masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

A native Texan who learned to shoot on childhood hunting trips with his father, Kyle was a champion saddle-bronc rider prior to joining the Navy. After 9/11, he was thrust onto the front lines of the War on Terror, and soon found his calling as a world-class sniper who performed best under fire. He recorded a personal-record 2,100-yard kill shot outside Baghdad; in Fallujah, Kyle braved heavy fire to rescue a group of Marines trapped on a street; in Ramadi, he stared down insurgents with his pistol in close combat. Kyle talks honestly about the pain of war—of twice being shot and experiencing the tragic deaths of two close friends.

American Sniper also honors Kyles fellow warriors, who raised hell on and off the battlefield. And in moving first-person accounts throughout, Kyles wife, Taya, speaks openly about the strains of war on their marriage and children, as well as on Chris.

Adrenaline-charged and deeply personal, American Sniper is a thrilling eyewitness account of war that only one man could tell.

Zoe Saldana Joins MACHETE KILLS

In a recent interview with Movie HoleDanny Trejo revealed that Star Trek's Zoe Saldana is part of the cast of Robert Rodriguez' Machete Kills. Here's what he had to say when he was talking about the film:

The sequel to Machete, Machete Kills is going to be a lot more over-the-top than Machete. We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, and Zoe Saldana – and guess what? I get to kiss all of ‘em.

Trejo has got to be loving this role! And this is the first time we've heard of Saldana's involvement. There's no word on who she'll play, but I'm sure she'll be kicking some ass.

Rodriguez recently revealed that some of the story stuff that they've released for the film was released to throw fans off. But basically, the U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space.

What do you think of Saldana being cast in the film? Are you a fan of hers?

BREAKING DAWN Part 2 Character Posters - Forever

Good lord, I hope this Twilight franchise doesn't go on forever as these three new character posters suggest. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 posters feature Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) looking moody as hell. The one positive thing I have to say about this franchise is that it's finally going to come to an end on November 16th. That is, until they diecide to make another film. I'm sure we'll see a ton of other posters in the near future.

Red-Band Trailer for Elijah Wood's Serial Killer Film MANIAC

$

Lord of the Ring's star Elijah Wood plays an insane cannibalistic killer in a new film called Maniac. We saw a short teaser trailer for the film not long ago, but now we've got a new red-band trailer that's got blood, violence, and breasts, so it's safe to say that the trailer is NSFW.

Alexandre Aja produced the Franck Khalfoun directed horror thriller. For those of you who don't know, this is actually a remake of a cult classic directed by Bill Lustig. It definitely looks like it will be an uncomfortable movie to watch. It's interesting to see Wood take on such a sinister role.

Here's the synopsis:

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt.

Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

A 21st century Jack the Ripper set in present-day LA, MANIAC is a re-boot of the cult film considered by many to be the most suspenseful slasher movie ever made - an intimate, visually daring, psychologically complex and profoundly horrific trip into the downward spiralling nightmare of a killer and his victims.

Check out the trailer and let us know if it's a movie you'll want to watch.

David Cronenberg and Robert Pattinson Reuniting For New Film?

As much as I would love to say that Eastern Promises 2 is going to be David Cronenberg's next feature film, it does not seem to be the case. BleedingCool is reporting that Robert Pattinson looks to be reteaming with the director, whom he worked with on Cosmopolis. Pattinson did a recent interview  with a French culture magazine called Inrockuptibles, and here is the translation thanks to a fan site:

I’m filming another movie with Cronenberg but I don’t know when he wants to start filming. It’s going to be his first one in France and he promises it’s going to be very strange.
Not much else is known about this movie now, but we will keep you posted. Pattinson went on to say:
I’m preparing a thriller too, with a beautifully written script too. It doesn’t have a director yet. Tons of French diretors are in line to to do [it].
Are you looking forward to seeing Cosmopolis? Do you want to see Pattinson star in another Cronenberg film?

THE HUNGER GAMES Sequel Has New Official Title

The Hunger Games sequel has a new official title. Lionsgate has made a slight change to the title of the Francis Lawrence-directed sequel. Initially titled Catching Fire, the title is now The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I guess that the studio wanted to make sure there was no confusion for people that have not read the books. Although uncomfirmed, the third book will likely be released as two separate films and titled The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

Simon Bea and Michael Arndt adapted the screenplay from Suzanne Collins' novel.  Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, and Woody Harrelson are all set to return. We will have a number of new cast additions we will be announcing soon.

I am excited to see this next film in the series. Who would you like to see cast in the numerous supporting roles?

Yep, Jon Favreau Will Play Happy Hogan in IRON MAN 3

Nothing too groundbreaking here, but THR is making a big deal about an "exclusive" report they have about Jon Favreau reprising his role as Happy Hogan in Iron Man 3, set to be directed by Shane Black.

The funny part about it is that Favreau himself basically tweeted this same thing directly to his fans about an hour before THR's report came out. Some exclusive.

In any case, Favs will reunite with Robert Downey, Jr. in front of the camera as Tony Stark's loveable bodyguard/driver/sidekick, but there's no further information about the extent of his screen time or how integral his character will be. Iron Man 3 began filming this week and is set for release on May 3rd, 2013. As you were.

Looper looks like it could be one of this year's best movies. Willis recently said in an interview that this film is better than anything he's ever worked on before, which is saying a lot because Willis has done some pretty cool movies in his day.

Here's The Official Synopsis:

Stern produce.

THE WIRE - Must Read Oral History of the Incredible Series

$

I've said it before and I'll say it again, HBO's The Wire is one of the great TV series ever made. If you still haven't seen it yet please make the time to watch it. I promise you won't regret it. In fact, you'll kick yourself in the ass for not having watched it sooner.

It's been 10 years since the show premiered on HBO, and Maxim has posted a fantastic oral history of the show. The creator of the show David Simon, writer/co-exec producer Ed Burns, and stars Dominic WestIdris ElbaMichael K. Williamsand several more pretty much discuss everything about the show. How it came into existence, the frustrations of working in Baltimore, what they did in their downtime, how they felt when Emmy voters ignored the show, and how the actors handled their characters getting killed off.

This is seriously a great read, and I highly suggest you check it out, especially if you're a fan of the show. Reading through it make me want to start watching the show all over again. Thankfully I have HBO GO!

In the mid-1980s David Simon, a police reporter for the Baltimore Sun, met Ed Burns, a homicide detective in the midst of a major case involving local drug kingpin and folk hero Melvin Williams. Key evidence in the case was gathered using wiretap surveillance.

Thats how the show was born. Here's a few bits from the article I picked out to get you started,

Michael B. Jordan (Wallace, Barksdale gang dealer): This is some real shit. It was real to the point where crackheads would come up and try to cop. I had fake money, and they would come over, and an exchange would go down. I would think they were part of the crew, and I’d make the exchange. Then security would come around and be like, “No! No! No!” and break it up. I was like, “Oh, shit! That’s really a crack-head! I’m sorry! I’m not really a drug dealer!”

Wendell Pierce (Det. William “Bunk” Moreland): The great thing about shooting in Baltimore was we were each other’s best company. We worked hard, long hours, but we partied hard, too, man. One bar made the mistake of having celebrity-bartender night. It happened one time, and one time only! That’s all I need to say!

Idris Elba: We smoked a lot of good weed, did a lot of strip clubs. A lot of that.

Wendell Pierce: One day David came up to us when we shooting and said, “I’m writing a scene right now for you guys, and I want you to do the whole scene, but you can only say the word fuck.”

Domenic West: 44 fucks? It’s about 20 too many. We even added some in post-production. It came out of something a cop had said to David once, and he thought that he could write an entire report only using the word fuck.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series.... read the full article here.

Dennis Lehane (writer): The Wire didn’t really become The Wire until late in the fourth season. That’s when it became a different thing. You can feel this perception change. We were the sort of well-respected, sort of ugly cousin of The Sopranos. HBO was so supportive, and yet at the same time, at the end of the day, they were saying, “if you don’t get any love during season 4, we’re not sure we’re coming back for 5.”  And then something really beautiful happened.

Wendell Pierce: The fourth season really had an effect on me. There was never an explanation of why we have this dysfunction in our society like you see in season four. What makes the corner boy? What makes one person go one direction and one person go the other?

Robert Wisdom: At the time they had “No Child Left Behind,” and all we were seeing was all the kids left behind. It was really played out in real time in the most powerful way. Finding boxes of books and computers, all unopened. Those were real finds, and going home at the end of the night, turning on the news and hearing bullshit about education from the politicians.

Ok, now you can read the full article. Sorry, there's just so much cool and interesting stuff here!
