The Story Behind INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM's Bridge Scene

$

The behind-the-scenes stories of Raiders of the Lost Ark are practically common knowledge for major film geeks these days, but I haven't heard too many stories about the filming of Indiana Jones' second adventure, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (well, technically it's a prequel, but you know what I mean). Here's a cool one from Academy Originals, the web series from the organization behind the Oscars that "examines everything from the creative process, to the moments that changed the course of filmmaking, to the artists who are charting its future." This week, they sit down with Oscar-winning Special Effects Supervisor George Gibbs, who tells a story about the bridge sequence in the film. Indy fans, this one's for you.

George Gibbs, who has notably worked on 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom', 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', 'Alien,' tells a very animated story about how they blew up the bridge in 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.'
Learn about the day he, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford destroyed the bridge they built from scratch amidst the 10 cameras filming, weather issues and the massive crowd waiting anxiously to see the spectacle.

Jon Snow is a Terrible Party Guest in Funny Seth Meyers Video

Winter may be over for us in the real world, but for Game of Thrones character Jon Snow, winter is always coming. That's a great catch phrase, but it's not really cheery dinner conversation, and when Seth Meyers brings Jon to a party, things don't go very well. I haven't seen Kit Harington do comedy before, but it seems like he has a pretty good sense of humor about all of this.

Spoilers for Game of Thrones in case you aren't caught up — but seriously, catch up if you haven't already! The show comes back this Sunday! What are you waiting for?!

All The Ridiculous 22 JUMP STREET Fake Sequels Will Be Canon

$
0
0

I thought 22 Jump Street was pretty funny all the way through, but it definitely ended on a high note. For those who don't recall, the film ends with Ice Cube telling Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill that they're going to medical school, which sets off a long montage that lasts for the entire duration of the end credits that shows Schmidt and Jenko in a bunch of fake sequels like 23 Jump Street: Medical School, 27 Jump Street: Culinary School, 31 Jump Street: Ninja Academy, and a whole lot more.

Like any normal person, I assumed that since 22 Jump Street was all about the idea of making a sequel, the end credits sequence was Phil Lord and Chris Miller's way of saying that they're done with this franchise by poking fun at the insanity of keeping this concept alive for future entries; they basically ran it into the ground themselves so they didn't have to see anyone else do it for real. But then something strange happened: 22 Jump Street made a boatload of cash, and Sony greenlit 23 Jump Street for real. So...what now?

Well, Topless Robot was at a panel for Lord and Miller's Fox TV show The Last Man on Earth at WonderCon, and the topic of the sequel came up:

"We've found a way that we love that makes those imagined sequels canonical and yet does something that we haven't told you about yet," Lord said. "The sequels are canon."

How the heck are they going to pull that off? We're not sure, but this aligns with a previous interview from last month:

“Rodney Rothman is off writing a script,” Lord said. “He had a really outrageous idea for what to do, and how we could take our scorched-earth sequel policy from the end of ’22 Jump Street’ and do something that hadn’t been explored in those 22 sequels and simultaneously tell the next chapter in the story.”

So does that mean that we'll actually see a crossover with the Men in Black franchise? That might not fulfill the criteria of being "something that [they] haven't told [us] about yet," because they've commented on that idea before. What do you think the future of the Jump Street franchise holds?

Spring Anime Roundup: First Impressions of New Shows Part 1

Spring has "Sprungu" and a fresh batch of anime has hit the airwaves! This post contains just a short analysis of the first episodes of series we recommended to Tyrants a couple weeks ago and a few new shows that we think you might be into. Mind you this is an analysis of first episodes, so while we won't be covering the whole series, there will be SPOILERS as I talk about the first episodes!

Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?

Watch it on: CrunchyRoll

Dubbed or Subbed: Subbed

I listened to the hype machine on this one and man was I disappointed. I guess with the goofy and overtly long title I was expected an action/comedy adventure mixed with some light romance. What I got instead was pre-teen angst and drama that took itself so seriously it was almost laughable.

In the opening episode, we learn that Goddesses come down to Earth to live among humans and select certain ones to fight for their honor. In return, they are granted privilege to fight in this huge dungeon and gain riches and power. Our main character starts things off by almost getting murdered by a minotaur, only to be saved by a much stronger female. He instantly falls in love and our story begins.

I can't even begin to go over how my dreams were crushed watching this show. This kid instantly feels he's destined to spend his life with this random girl and wants to be strong to impress her. I have no problem with the gender role reversal and the guy longing to go after the more powerful girl. What I do have a problem with is how this kid in the process of a week goes from meeting, to falling in love, to running from a bar crying because someone in the guild of the girl he likes said something discouraging about him. Furthermore, much of the humor relies on the main character's sexualized Goddess who's always trying to bone him...and it's really not that funny. It's actually really stupid, the more I think about it.

The intense sexuality, overly dramatic script, and sequence of events lead me to believe this anime is really aiming for a "coming of age" audience and doesn't look like it'll be hitting the mark for a lot of the adult crowd. Take that as you will...I'll probably give this one another episode or two before I officially call it quits.

Gunslinger Stratos

Watch it on: CrunchyRoll

Dubbed or Subbed: Subbed

Based on the popular arcade game released in Japan in 2012, Gunslinger Stratos should have been in our Spring anime list in place of Is It Wrong To Cry When A Girl You Met Doesn't Like You (I still can't get over it). I happened to notice this one in the "New" category on Crunchyroll, and damn was it a blast. If the rest of the series lives up to the first episode, I see this one making my "best of" list for the end of Spring.

The story follows Tohru, a high schooler (surprise surprise) in training to go to war. Things are all kind of fuzzy starting out, but the animation and futurist style are very much on point. Things kick off with a really trippy dream, and really just go from there. I don't want to ruin the end of the episode for you because it's honestly really cool to watch. Parallel universes, time travel, lots of guns, and violence are what you can expect from this one. Eagerly awaiting episode 2!

Seraph Of The End

Watch it on: Funimation

Subbed/Dubbed: Subbed

Feels alert on this one. Seraph of the End does a really good job of mixing childhood innocence and foolishness and showing you just how incredibly wrong that can go. I mean...damn.

Adult humans are killed off by a vampire-created virus and the remaining children are forced into slavery by their vampire overlords. The first episode follows Yu, and his orphanage "family" and shows their transition from the day the incident happened until current time. Yu seems to be the only person upset about his vampire overlords and wants to escape. His friend Mikaela urges him to make the best of the situation and helps provide for the orphanage by letting a Vampire noble use him for food and stuff. After we get well established with Yu and his family of young children that went to the same orphanage as him, Mikaela returns from the vampire's house with a map to escape the city. Sounds great, right?

Remember how I talked about childhood innocence and foolishness?

Yeah, turns out the vampire intentionally let them find the map and Yu watches his entire family of very young children and Mikaela get slaughtered. Yu does manage to escape, however, and swear vengeance, so he's got that going for him. He befriends an anti-vampire group outside their underground city and the story begins.

I really liked the animation in this one and the sweeping visuals of the city were very impressive. The out-the-gate violence against children (they don't do the cut away with blood streaks for most of it) makes me think we are in for a gore fest on this one, so be prepared!

Blood Blockade Battlefront

Where to Watch: Funimation...except it's not on their site yet...you can find it online though...I just can't link you to it.

Dubbed/Subbed: Subbed (Will be Dubbed at some point)

Wow, did I feel like I just stepped right back into the world of Cowboy Bebop on this one. That's not at all a bad thing of course, but the animation style right down to the random jazz breaks really had me wanting to pop that series back in for old time's sake. Honestly this series feels like a spiritual successor to Cowboy Bebop now that I think of it, and I'm completely fine with that.

Leonard Watch is a human stuck in former New York City, otherwise known as "Jerusalem's Lot." The natural and the supernatural live together in the greatest city in the world; they're trapped from leaving, and outsiders trapped from entering. For this reason, the world is fascinated by New York's transformation and it quickly becomes a hub for all alien/supernatural/human life. Leonard unwittingly gets drafted by Libra, a group set on maintaining order in the Big Apple, and keeping criminal organizations from getting a stranglehold on what is now considered "the most powerful city in the world."

It's pretty awesome how the Japanese creators were so spot-on in capturing the essence of New York. Besides the fact you'll constantly recognize where our characters are in the show, it's hilarious how three months into this phenomena, New Yorkers are operating as normal. Even its new alien and supernatural inhabitants quickly adapt and unify under the fact that they are all "New Yorkers." A cafe blows up due to some demon on a bank heist rampage, and people are there the next day ordering coffee amongst the rubble. It's hilarious, and in another sense almost symbolic of the spirit of New York.

I didn't truly understand the title of the show until watching the episode, but in case you were curious as well, Libra fights using their own blood. I don't fully understand it still, but at least there's some clarity in that way. Like I said, this show feels very much like a spiritual successor to Cowboy Bebop in terms of animation/music/humor/action, and you should be very happy that it is. Watch this one now.

FOOD WARS!

Where To Watch: CrunchyRoll

Dubbed/Subbed: Subbed

This is another one I just happened to see while browsing new series on CrunchyRoll and what the f***. This is going to be the weird anime of Spring 2015. The easiest way to describe this show is it's about a kid whose cooking gives people orgasms. Yep. There's more to it than that, but I feel like that's all you need to know going into this show. I guess I should also tell you there's a weird squid penetration scene as well. I don't know if I like documenting on the internet that I watched this show.

That being said, the show was pretty funny, and I guess food can be THAT good sometimes. Watch it if you want, but don't tell people I sent you.

Plastic Memories

Where To Watch: Crunchyroll

Dubbed/Subbed: Subbed

This is not an action anime. I know that's going to be our wheelhouse from here on out, but the first episode of this one was good enough that I decided to give it another shot next week. Plastic Memories is about a future where androids exist and are indistinguishable from humans. The bad part is that the androids' minds deteriorate and decay after 9 years and 4 months. Our story follows a company who collects these androids from their human buyers before their expiration date.

It was a bit cheesy, but the sci-fi element to it is what kept me watching. Seeing the emotional connection these humans would share with their purchased androids was moving, and the goodbyes were heartfelt enough that I had to remind myself I was watching a Japanese cartoon. No, we don't see an android that manages to get past its expiration date, which is why I'm for sure watching episode two in hopes that we do. Like I said, this one is not heavy on the action and has some of that angsty romance, but it wasn't so much that I couldn't make it through the episode.

All right, that's it's for Part 1 for now! Hopefully you found some new shows to follow or to ignore based on your interests. Let me know what you think I should keep covering or shows that should be analyzed in part 2 (yes, Digimon will be covered).

We've been hearing for some time that Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo would be directing Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. Marvel has now made it official!

These guys did such an amazing job with The Winter Solider, and Marvel is apparently extremely happy with what they are doing, and trust that they have the ability to handle such and epically huge production.

It's a bittersweet feeling to know that Joss Whedon is moving on. It sucks that we won't see him direct another Avengers film, but it's awesome to know that we'll start seeing more new and original projects from him.

At least we know that that the future of the Avengers is in good hands. Here's the official announcement:

As anticipation and excitement build to a fever pitch for Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the blockbuster sequel to the third-largest movie of all time, Marvel is proud to announce Joe and Anthony Russo will join the franchise as the directors of Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2.”
The Russo brothers first entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” one of the top-grossing film’s from 2014, and are currently preparing to shoot Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War.” The third film in the Captain America franchise will bring the classic storyline from the comics to life pitting Cap (Chris Evans) against Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), as well as introducing Black Panther to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with actor Chadwick Boseman ahead of his own film later in Phase 3.

Before stepping behind the camera for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War,” the Russo brothers served as Executive Producers and directors for many TV series, including “Community" and “Happy Endings." Joe and Anthony earned a Primetime Emmy award for their work directing the pilot episode of the cult-hit “Arrested Development” series. Their film debut was “Welcome to Collinwood", produced by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney.

Louis Plamondon a.k.a. Sleepy Skunk has recut the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer to look like a 1995 VHS movie. To give it that '90s action movie vibe he added a few clips featuring some ancient '90s technology, changed up the trailer narrator, and gave it a VHS visual look. Let's face it though, the movie still wouldn't have looked this good in 1995.

BATMAN VS. ROBIN WonderCon 2015 Panel - Video

batman-vs-robin-wondercon-2015-panel-video-social.jpg

Last year, DC Animation debuted Son of Batman to an audience that turned quite hostile during the question and answer portion of the panel that followed the screening. When I found out that they were returning to WonderCon this year to premiere Batman vs. Robin, which continues the Bruce and Damian Wayne storyline, I was admittedly hoping for an equally confrontational crowd — last year was seriously a total train wreck! Fortunately, for the gracious talent who attended, the panel had a better moderator (aside from some cringeworthy fangirl fawning) and things didn’t get as heated.

Free Reyes recorded the entire panel, which consisted of producer James Tucker, director Jay Oliva, writer J.M. DeMatteis, designer Phillip Bourassa, and voice-director Andrea Romano, as well as returning voice actors Sean Maher (Dick Grayson/Nightwing), Stuart Allan (Damian Wayne/Robin), and Jason O'Mara (Bruce Wayne/Batman). They do get into some spoilers as they discuss various aspects of the production and how they cherry-picked elements from Scott Snyder’s beloved Court of Owls series, but nothing that would completely ruin the mostly action-driven animated feature for you. Highlights from the video include everyone talking about their favorite iteration of Robin, as well as Jason O'Mara’s story about literally being choked by Kevin Conroy (who voices Thomas Wayne in the film) after telling him that he was the guy taking over as the voice of Batman. Bonus: try counting how many times our resident 16-going-on-30-year-old Stuart Allen says “definitely” and “first of all.”

As we get closer to the April 14th Blu-ray release date for Batman vs. Robin, we’ll post our full video review that we recorded while at the convention. So stay tuned for that.

Two Clips From The New STAR WARS Digital Release Special Features

Last night, Lucasfilm announced that they will be releasing the entire Star Wars saga on digital HD with some brand new bonus features. I fully agree with Joey's point in his write-up: it's likely that you already own Star Wars in some form or another, so the new bonus features are basically the main reason for getting this new incarnation.

They're dividing those special features into two main sections: Conversations, which features new talks with some of the most essential people involved with the franchise, and Discoveries From Inside, which is more of a traditional behind-the-scenes feature. And while we thought we'd have to wait until Friday to see any footage, Lucasfilm has surprised us with two new clips. USA Today has the first, which includes a conversation with set decorator Roger Christian and effects technician-turned-director Joe Johnston about the making of the Millennium Falcon:

And the second comes from Collider, and it confirms the color of Han Solo's Hoth jacket. I had no idea there was even a big controversy about this, but I'm sure those of you who are super into that level of detail will be either heartbroken or thrilled about this:

The full Star Wars saga will be available for purchase on digital HD this Friday, April 10th.

The CW has released The Flash trailer that screened at WonderCon this last weekend. It was packed full of awesome new footage that fans of the series are going to eat up. That footage includes includes The Atom in action, some new surprising revelations regarding Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash, Gorilla Grodd, and more! If you haven't seen this yet, then you're in for a treat.

Here's a description of what we have to look forward to!

ARROW’S FELICITY SMOAK (EMILY BETT RICKARDS) AND RAY PALMER (BRANDON ROUTH) ARRIVE IN CENTRAL CITY; EMILY KINNEY (“The Walking Dead”) GUEST STARS AS BRIE LARVIN — Barry (Grant Gustin) is surprised when Felicity Smoak (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) arrives from Starling City along with her boyfriend, Ray Palmer (guest star Brandon Routh), who flies in as the Atom. They’ve come to visit S.T.A.R. Labs as Ray needs help with his suit. Their timing turns out to be fortuitous because it’s all hands on deck after a meta human named Brie Larvin (guest star Emily Kinney) unleashes hundreds of robotic bees to attack and kill her former co-workers, including Dr. Tina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays). A group dinner with Barry, Felicity, Ray, Iris (Candice Patton) and Eddie (Rick Cosnett) turns into a disaster. Kevin Tancharoen directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & Kai Yu Wu.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Will Not Have An End-Credits Scene

avengers-age-of-ultron-will-not-have-a-end-credits-scene

One of the little things that we've all enjoyed about these Marvel movies are the short credits sequences. Mostly because it teases what we might see in the future of the franchise. Sometimes we're treated to one mid-credits sequence, and then other times we're treated to both a mid- and end-credits tag. The first Avengers film had both, and the scene that played at the end of the credits was the amusing shawarma scene.

Well, don't expect to see something like that after the credits roll in Avengers: Age of UltronEW talked with both writer/director Joss Whedon as well as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and they revealed that they couldn’t figure out a way to top the shawarma scene. Whedon said:

“We all came at it separately—we don’t want to chase that. That was a jewel and a weird little quirk.”

It's hard to believe that they couldn't figure something out. These guys are incredibly creative and they have a funny sense of humor, but what can ya do? Don't worry though, there will still be a mid-credits tag. Whedon clarifies:

“There will be a tag, But there’s not a post-post-credit scene. There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a b****! I’ll kill them!’”

That tag is sure to tease something that we will see play out in a future Marvel film, either Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity Wars, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, or Captain Marvel. I kind of hope that it will involve Spider-Man, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.

JOHN WICK Directors Rumored for DC Movie, Red Hood May Become "Priority Character"

According to Latino Review‘s El Mayimbe, Warner Bros. is looking to hire John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch to direct one of their upcoming DC Comics movies. These guys are amazing action film directors, and I would love it if they actually did end up being hired to bring one of the DC comic book characters to life on the big screen.

There's no word on what movie they will direct but it could be any of the films they've announced such as The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Green Lantern, or Cyborg. Wonder Woman is being directed by Michelle MacLaren, and the Justice League movies will be directed by Zack Snyder.

The report also reveals that Red Hood is also going to be a priority character in the DC cinematic universe that the studio is building. Here's what was posted:

Jason Todd's uniform is in a display case inside the Batcave! In fact, The Joker & Harley Quinn are estranged in SUICIDE SQUAD because she feels guilt over the death of Todd. I'm also told that the RED HOOD is now a priority character for DC. One more thing, John Wick directors Chad Stahelski & David Leith being courted to direct DC film!

What do you think about the possibility of these guys taking on a DC Comics movie, and Red Hood being a major player in the universe?

7 Things You Probably Didn't Know About THE AVENGERS

Like everyone who reads this site, I'm incredibly excited about Avengers: Age of Ultron. Since the film is coming out in just a few short weeks, the team at Cinefix decided to put together a video looking back at the first Avengers film and pointing out a few things that you might not have known about it. While a few of these are pretty obvious — Ultron being a creation of Tony Stark, for example — there were two of these that I learned for the first time watching the video, so I'd say it's worth checking out, even if you're already a big fan.

Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde Returning For TRON 3

At the end of 2010's Tron: Legacy, Sam Flynn and Quorra escape The Grid and head into the real world. In my opinion, Legacy had a really lackluster script, but I'll still admit to being curious as to how Quorra would operate in the real world since she's never been there before. Now it looks like we're about to find out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde will both reprise their roles in the upcoming Tron 3 (which may be called Tron: Ascension). That's great news for fans of the franchise, who have been wanting the movie to officially move forward ever since the credits rolled on Legacy.

Wilde has already spoken about what she'd like to see in the third movie, and I know I'm not alone in hoping that her character has much more to do this time around. It does seem like she'd be the at the center of the story this time, and with Joseph Kosinski saying that the third film delivers on the promise of Tron: Legacy, I'm hoping that the writers give Cillian Murphy a great, meaty role here and that this film is an improvement in every way. Filming is supposed to begin sometime this fall in Vancouver, so we'll keep you posted as production gets underway.

Supercut of ARCHER's References to X-Men, The Avengers, and More

$

The FX series Archer is often hilarious, but even though I consider myself a fairly intelligent person, I still find that a few of the jokes go over my head each episode. Sterling Archer is always making ridiculously obscure references, and like Community or any other meta property, when the audience actually gets those references, it enriches things even more.

Serena Bramble at Press Play has put together a supercut of every literary reference Archer has made over the course of the show's run so far, including times he's name-dropped superhero comics like The Avengers, X-Men, and The Fantastic Four. If you're a fan of the show who, like me, occasionally finds yourself missing a joke here and there, this video might shine a light on some of those.

[Series creator Adam] Reed has admitted that the show's many literary references, including the many from other characters not included for time, are the remnant of his tenure as a frustrated English major, yet their contrast with the more deplorable aspects of Archer's personality was probably the first indicator of his humanity, his intelligence when he chose to use it, and maybe even an indication of his lonely, friendless childhood and adolescence. Plus, of all the mixed-up characters on Archer, Reed seems to know that it's most fun to hear the debonair, narcissistic spy mention an obscure Herman Melville book at gunpoint, read 10 Babysitter's Club books in preparation for guarding his daughter, or wonder out loud if he's gay for Tolkien.

SAN ANDREAS: WonderCon Panel Video with Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario

The GeekTyrant crew was in attendance at the Warner Bros. panel during WonderCon. The first part of the panel was Mad Max: Fury Road footage that the team discussed in a video (here). The second part was for the upcoming movie San Andreas starring Dwayne Johnson. Sadly, Johnson was not in attendance, but the two female leads — Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario — were. Also on the panel was director Brad Peyton, who worked with Johnson on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (I've see it, not a good film).

The cast and crew talk about shooting the film and really pushing how much was shot in camera using practical effects. The screenplay is by Carlton Cuse (Lost) and there seems to be more story and character in this movie than your standard disaster film. I'm not a big fan of the disaster genre but I eventually see them all, so perhaps I'll watch this on Netflix in 1-2 years.

San Andreas "rocks" theaters May 29th (USA).

I'm surprised that it took Screen Junkies this long to create an Honest Trailer for Ben Affleck's 2003 Marvel movie, Daredevil. With the new Netflix series coming out though, now is the perfect time for it. Daredevil seems to be one of those Marvel based movies that is universally trashed on by fanboys and fangirls. It's time for Honest Trailers to take a crack at it, and there's no doubt they had fun tearing it apart. Enjoy the hilarious fruits of their labor in the video below.

Robert Downey Jr. Releases A New AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON TV Spot

Robert Downey Jr. recently teamed with Omaze to auction off a chance to hang out with him, do some indoor skydiving, go on a helicopter tour, and — oh yeah — attend the Los Angeles premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron. You can get all of those details here. Well, the campaign raised more than two million dollars (whoa, that's a lot), and to celebrate the milestone, Downey released a new TV spot for the upcoming superhero sequel. Check it out below, and don't forget (as if you could) that Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives in theaters on May 1st. Maybe one of you will get to see it sooner than that, if you end up winning that contest. Good luck!

Hilarious Superhero Parody Cartoon ANIMALS-MAN

For me, the original Spider-Man theme song from the cartoon is just as iconic as the original Batman theme song from the Adam West show. The original theme even got some love in Sam Raimi's live-action sequel Spider-Man 2, in this brief scene.

Now a comedy team called The Bilderbergers have created an animated parody called "Animals-Man" that uses the melody from the Spidey theme but applies different lyrics to a disastrous superhero imbued with the power of changing into tons of animals at random (and sometimes multiple animals at the same time). It's so ridiculous, but I was cracking up all the way through. Hopefully you all get a kick out of it.

Ajax Confirmed as Villain for DEADPOOL

Earlier this year, we learned that Game of Thrones actor Ed Skrein joined the cast of Tim Miller's Deadpool movie. It was rumored, at the time, that he would be playing a villain in the story, and now he has confirmed he will be taking on the role of Ajax.

Ajax is a remorseless killer that was part of the Weapon X program, and was also experimented on by the barbarous Dr. Killebrew, just like Wade Wilson. He's a formidable villain for Deadpool to take on as he has enhanced strength, speed, and agility. His nerves were also removed, so he has much better pain endurance.

Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand. It will be released in theaters on February 12th, 2016.

Kevin Smith Reveals That MALLRATS 2 Will Be His Next Film

For awhile now it has looked like Clerks 3 would be Kevin Smith’s next film project, but the director revealed on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast that it has been pushed back so that he can start production on Mallarts 2

Over the last few weeks, Smith has been revealing his cast on Twitter, and everyone that’s involved at this point is reprising their role from the original movie. So far the cast includes Smith, Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Ethan Suplee, Jeremy London, Renee Humphry,  Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee, Michael Rooker, and Sven-Ole Thorsen.

Smith talked about the project and revealed some story details, including what he plans on doing to a mall in the third act of his story:

“We've been putting together Mallrats 2....It's been a real, like Blues Brothers 'We're putting the band back together, on a mission from Smod. So this week, we had a lot of activity behind the scenes as well and it looks like we might -- it's Mallrats and so we require a big old empty mall, and it would be nice if we could do things to the mall. So if you had a mall and the mall was eventually going away, that would let you like blow the fucking mall up, which happens in the third act. So we found a place that we can go to and in order to get to that mall before it goes away, we were talking about initially shooting Clerks 3 this summer and then we were going to get to Mallrats in the beginning of 2016. And then it jumped into 2015, where we were going to shoot Clerks and then hopefully Mallrats before the end of the year. But now, based on a fucking mall that we all dig that will be going away, the priority has become Mallrats. So the next fucking movie I'm making is Mallrats 2. No word on Batfleck yet...but it would be fun to see if we could get him.”

So the production was pushed up just so that they could shoot it in this mall they found that they are going to blow up? Sounds like a plan! In all honesty, I’m much more excited about Mallrats 2 than Clerks 3. I also really do hope that Affleck jumps on board. It’s good to know that they are trying to get him.
