First Look at Bruce Timm's JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MONSTERS Animated Film

first-look-at-bruce-timms-justice-league-gods-and-monsters-animated-film

Last year it was announced that Batman: The Animated Series talent Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett would be developing a new DC animated feature called Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Today we have our first look at what we can expect to see in it, and holy crap! It's not what I was expecting.

We knew that the series would give us a much darker take on the Justice League, but I wasn't expecting these radical character designs for Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman that we see in these images.

According to the press release, the movie will "explore a newly conceived reality in the DC Universe where Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are much darker versions of the Super Heroes that people think they know."

Thanks to Nerds on the Rocks, we also have some additional details on these characters we will be introduced to in the story.

"Superman of this world is the son of General Zod. He is a bit more violent. Well a lot more violent, and has seen the ugliness of mankind being raised by migrate farmers.
"Batman is not Bruce Wayne. Instead, it is Kirk Langstrom, who has cancer. And in trying to find a cure injects himself with Bat-venom becoming a pseudo-vampire. He feeds on criminals to cure his bloodlust.
"Wonder Woman seems to be of the 'New Gods' She marries Orion but something goes wrong there and she comes to Earth."

These images come from a trailer for the film that is apparently attached to the upcoming animated film Batman Vs. Robin, which comes out on April 14th. The Justice League: Gods and Monsters film will be followed by a miniseries called "Chronicles."

I'm really excited to see how this new flick turns out!

THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT Gameplay Video Reveals The First 15 Minutes

0
0

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed twice already, but since it will deliver over 100 hours of content to gamers when it's finally ready, it sounds like fans are being a little more forgiving about the long wait. There's still a little more than a month to go before you'll have it in your hands, but in the meantime, IGN has a video that shows off the game's first 15 minutes. It gives a nice look at the open world elements, allowing the player to dictate how conversations proceed, and it shows off some of the combat moves and magic you use on your quest.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt hits shelves on May 19, 2015. What do you think about the first few minutes below?

Possible Details for the New STAR WAR: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer

Art by Thuberchs

We've got a few more things to share with you regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens. First off, Making Star Wars has a breakdown of detailed points that we might see in the upcoming new trailer for the film.

The other thing that we learned comes from Collider, who says that the first official poster for the movie will be unveiled at Star Wars Celebration later this month. I assume the next trailer for the movie will also premiere at the event.

If you want to know what that trailer might include, then read ahead. If you don't, then why the hell did you click through to read the article? The website that this comes from was right about what was in the first teaser trailer before it was released, so there's a good chance this intel is legit.

Here are the details they offer:

  • The teaser runs at about a one minute and fifty seconds, just under two minutes.
  • Han, Leia, Artoo and Threepio
  • We do see Yavin in the teaser.
  • We see a shot of Finn with a blue lightsaber.
  • There is a shot of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), the chrome Stormtrooper, very briefly.
  • We do see Kylo Ren’s helmeted face.
  • We see Poe Dameron shoot down a TIE fighter.
  • A shot of Finn and Poe walking past one another at the base.
  • Rey is in a few shots.
  • There is a shot of Poe Dameron, Artoo-Detoo, See-Threepio, and a CGI character (Rose).
  • BB-8 socketed in the back of an X-wing.
  • Kylo Ren’s Imperial shuttle flys by with TIE escorts to the Star Destroyer (it is the one MakingStarWars.net wrote about)
  • Star Destroyer(s)
  • The Falcon
  •  X-wing fighters flying in a V-shape formation.
  • Darth Vader’s helmet sitting on a podium.
  • no Serkis.
  • No Luke.

There's a lot of exciting stuff that has been included in the trailer, and I can't wait to see it up on the big screen! I do find it interesting that they are will show Han and Leia, but not Skywalker. I guess they're saving his reveal for another trailer, or maybe they will just wait until the film is released. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th.

Video: The Complete History of MGM's Roaring Lion Logo

I don't know about you guys, but I'm fascinated by cool movie-related trivia. I like learning about the things that we all take for granted, and the stuff that we might not even really even think about. Case in point: the MGM logo. We've recently showcased a few videos that traced the visual history of the opening logos for Disney and DreamWorks, and now editor Ethan Jones is back with a new video that doesn't show all of the weird variations of the MGM logo, but instead shows how it came to become what it is today. This one takes us back in time to the early days of cinema history, and I found it very informative and interesting.

(As I finished writing this up, I stumbled across an awesome article at Mashable that goes into even more detail about the logo's history, including a story about how one of its lions survived a plane crash (!) that didn't make it into the video below. Check that out here.)

DEADPOOL Involved in Car Crash in Movie Set Photos

0
0

Since Deadpool has started shooting, we've seen some cool stuff find its way online. Last week we got a hilarious video that gave us our first look at Ryan Reynolds in action as Deadpool, and some set photos surfaced of the actor as Wade Wilson. Then earlier today we posted an article in which creator Rob Liefeld compared the upcoming film to Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now we have a collection of new set photos featuring the Merc with a Mouth in the aftermath of a crazy car crash. It looks to me like they are recreating the scene that we saw in the leaked concept video. That's the same video that kicked Fox's ass into gear to actually make this movie. I included that video below for you to watch.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Director Tim Miller's R-rated Deadpool film will slice and dice its way into theaters on February 12th, 2016.

GAME OF THRONES: Comprehensive Infographic Describes Every On-Screen Death

The Washington Post has published a gorgeous interactive infographic that describes every single on-screen death in the first four seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones. And it doesn't stop with humans, either: every animal, White Walker, and wight that died on screen gets its due as well, with information about who killed it and why. It's a staggeringly detailed piece of work, and with the new season set to debut this Sunday night, it's a nice reminder of some of the characters who fell earlier in the show's run (this recap tells you all the relevant details you need from season 4, but the infographic goes all the way back to the beginning).

Check out the full infographic at TWP, and for those of you who'd rather watch than read, here's a video that shows you those deaths instead.

New GRAND THEFT AUTO V PC Trailer Shows Off The Heists

Yesterday, I was finally able to find some time to dive into the online heists in Grand Theft Auto V. I was playing on PS3, a console on which we had to wait months for the heists to arrive as an update, but PC gamers will be glad to know that when Grand Theft Auto Online drops for them on April 14th, the heists will be accessible from the start. Here's a new trailer showcasing some of the action from the heists, which are incredibly fun. It adds a whole new feel to the online world of the game, and instead of just randomly driving around and trying to find decent mini games to play or missions to accomplish, I feel like I'm going to spend most of my time doing heists from now on. Have you played around with any of them yourselves? Let me know below.

Superman and Wonder Woman Discuss "Bullet Bouncing" in Humorous Comic

Here's an amusing comic strip created by Kerry Callen that features Superman talking to Wonder Woman about bouncing bullets. He brings up the fact that she's invulnerable, and while he stands there being shot at with bullets bouncing off his chest, he questions her on why she bothers using her bracelets to block bullets that are fired at her if she can't be hurt by them. So she shows him why, and her reasoning makes complete sense.

Could Eva Mendes Return For FURIOUS 8?

0
0

I don't know about you guys, but I loved Furious 7. It barely edges out Fast Five as my favorite movie in The Fast and The Furious franchise, and it contains some of the best action set pieces I've seen in years. I love this series and its surprisingly elaborate mythology and continuity, and now a new rumor says that continuity may be getting slightly more complex with a main character coming back for another ride.

El Mayimbe from Latino-Review dropped the following scoop this morning:

FAST & FURIOUS 8 #RUMOR With #fast7 now in the record books, the upcoming NY based #Fast8 story will depend on whether they can bring back Eva Mendes' character: US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes.

A photo posted by Umberto Gonzalez (@umbertogonzalez) on

The return of Eva Mendes' Monica Fuentes character would make perfect sense for this series, which loves to bring back returning players as the adventures of Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto and his #family continue. (Mendes was in 2 Fast 2 Furious and appeared in a post-credits scene in Fast Five interacting with Dwayne Johnson's Agent Hobbs.) Diesel has already mentioned some early thoughts for Furious 8, and bringing the Florida-based Fuentes up to New York would keep her on the East Coast and try to fill the hole that will surely be felt by Paul Walker's absence in the next movie.

And if that doesn't work, they could always bring Ja Rule back just for the hell of it. "Monicaaaaaaa!"

DOCTOR WHO Will Be Around for at Least 5 More Seasons!

Steven Moffat has revealed some great news for all us Doctor Who fans. When talking to U.K.'s Radio Times (via: Variety), Moffat implied that the series will be around for at least five more seasons. The showrunner and executive producer said,

“I thought it would last 10 years. I didn’t think it would last 10 years with BBC Worldwide trying to get me in a room to talk about their plan for the next five years!”

He went on to clarify the statement above saying:

“It’s going to do a minimum of 15. I mean, it could do 26!"

So that's fifteen total seasons of the recent incarnation of the series. We've basically been guaranteed Doctor Who sci-fi awesomeness through 2020! Maybe even beyond that if the BBC wants it. I guess it all depends on how the next five seasons turn out. Moffat went on to say,

“Because it’s such an amazing format, because you can constantly revive it and re-imagine it, then as long as the people looking after it are passionate about it and the BBC is passionate about it, there’s absolutely no reason why it can’t do another 50 years.”

The newest incarnation of the series celebrated ten years on the air in March. The current Doctor is played by Peter Capaldi, who will return to the series next season.

Trailer for Joe Dante’s Horror/Comedy BURYING THE EX with Anton Yelchin

0
0

Joe Dante, the director who brought us films such as Gremlins and The Burbs, has a new film coming out called Burying the Ex. It’s a horror comedy that follows Max (Anton Yeltsin), who ends up being involved with a girlfriend from hell named Evelyn (Ashely Greene). Before he breaks up with her she dies, but that’s not the end of it. She comes back from the dead as a zombie, and she won’t let him move on.

I would really like this to be a good movie, especially with Dante at the helm and Yelchin starring. I’m fan of both of them, but it doesn’t look anywhere near as good as some of their previous work, which is a shame.

BURYING THE EX follows Max (Anton Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashely Greene). Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare. Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s too afraid to break up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate. But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared Zombie and she’s determined to live happily ever after with Max …even if that means turning him into one of the undead.

The movie is set to be released sometime this summer. There’s no exact date set, though.

Stunning WonderCon Cosplay Featured in Videos

This weekend I had the opportunity to attend WonderCon in Anaheim, CA, and it was full of cosplayers sporting some incredibly awesome costumes. Seriously, I was really impressed with how much great cosplay I saw. I’m just amazed by the talented artists out there who create these outfits for themselves.

Thanks to YouTube user Classy Deer, we have two videos giving a glimpse at some of the cosplay that was on display. The first video spotlights the first day of the convention, and the second video is of day two. I also included a third video that features Myles G. Davis doing a great rendition of "Route 29" from Pokemon Gold & Silver on an ocarina.

But Star Wars: The Digital Collection will include a lot of never-before-seen bonus material that fans of the franchise are sure to want to see. So basically, one of the main reasons to purchase these is just for the extra special features. You will find a full list of those features in the press release below.

It’s going to be really hard for me to purchase these movies all over again, but I do want to see all of those extra extras. In case you’re interested, you will be able to purchase any of the six Star Wars films on iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, Amazon, Verizon FiOS, Xbox Video, and Disney Movies Anywhere.

SESAME STREET’s GAME OF THRONES Parody - “Game of Chairs”

0

Sesame Street has released a new amusing parody video called "Game of Chairs," which is based on the HBO series Game of Thrones. Here’s a brief description:

The Game of Chairs will determine who will be king or queen of Jesteros. Four players will march around three chairs while music plays until one remains. Who will take the crown in this game of musical chairs? Robb, Cersie, Joffrey, Daeneyrus or….?

It’s so weirdly funny to me that a kid's show parodies something that is so not appropriate for kids to watch. Sesame Street is obviously targeting a more adult audience these days, which is totally cool! Hell, I’ve been enjoying them!

Here are a few of the previous parody videos that they've done: Sesame Street Parodies HOUSE OF CARDSSesame Street's really Strange Parody of HBO's TRUE BLOOD, and Sesame Street Spoofs BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

Marvel Studios Considering Animated MCU Tie-Ins

0
0
marvel-studios-considering-animated-mcu-tie-ins

One of the things I’ve really missed about Marvel since Disney bought them is the animated films and series that they used to make. Invincible Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Hulk Vs., and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were all great! Since Disney’s takeover, the animated projects that they’ve produced haven’t really delivered the same level of awesomeness.

We might start seeing some interesting animated productions from Marvel in the future, though. Marvel VP of Animation Cort Lane reportedly told an audience at Emerald City Comic-Con that the studio is exploring  animated tie-ins that will connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When a fan asked him about this he simply said:

"I can't announce anything, but things are in the works.”

So it seems like there’s a good chance that one day in the near future Marvel will be creating new animated series and/or films that will connect to the cinematic universe that we’re all enjoying so much. Who knows what exactly these “things” will entail, but it’s exciting to know that Marvel could be ramping up their animation department. I’d love to see them start pumping out quality stuff again.

When it comes to comic book animated productions, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are leading the charge. But Marvel could be a major player in the animation game again if they stepped it up.

Stan Lee Gets His Own 1/6 Scale Collectible Action Figure

stan-lee-gets-his-own-1/6-scale-collectible-action-figure

We've seen a lot of extremely cool 1/6th scale collectible action figures over the years. A lot of them are of superheroes created or co-created by Stan Lee. Well, the comic book legend finally gets to be immortalized as a 1/6 scale action figure himself thanks to Daz Toys.

They are releasing a limited edition series of 1000.  So if you want one for your collection, then don’t hesitate to order now for $249.99. I'm actually surprised that Hot Toys or Sideshow Collectibles didn't get to this first. I should point out that there was a another Stan Lee action figure released in 2007 as a SDCC exclusive. I posted an image of that one at the very bottom of the post.

The figure turned out to be pretty damn amusing, but I'm sure that maybe one day Hot Toys or Sideshow will make their own version of the comic legend. That's the one I'll be holding out for. They just make better quality toys.

An American icon, Stan Lee is a comic book writer since the 1940’s.  He is also an editor, publisher, media Producer, television host, actor, and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.  Collaborating with several artists, Stan Lee co-created Spider Man, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, X- Men, Iron Man and Thor.
In addition, he headed the first major successful challenge to the industry's censorship organization, the Comic Code Authority and forced it to reform its policies.
Stan Lee also led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation making it what it is today.
Stan Lee was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of fame in 1995. He also received a National Medal of Arts in 2008.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD - WonderCon Footage Reaction Video and New Poster

mad-maxfury-road-wondercon-footage-reaction-video-and-new-poster

While we were at WonderCon last weekend we had a chance to attend the Warner Bros. panel, and they showed off some crazy cool new footage from George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. It was some pretty spectacular stuff, including a brutally intense fight scene between Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. I have no idea if the clip we saw is going to be released online anytime soon, but we did a video reaction to the footage that we watched, and in it we also provide a description of the scene that played out. This was the most exciting thing about an upcoming movie that we saw at WonderCon, most of everything else was pretty underwhelming.

The studio also released a new poster for the movie that you can check out above. It comes with the tagline, “The future belongs to the mad.” It features the two main characters looking like they’re ready to kick some ass... and they do!

An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

The movie explodes in theaters on May 15th, and I'm so pumped to see it!

Shredder from TMNT Is Sad and Lonely in This Funny Animated Ballad

“Instead of turtles, I’ll shred lettuce. Leave the clan for a foot fetish Shredder. When will someone better me?”

FOX’s Animation Domination has released an amusing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles inspired animated music video called “The Ballad of Ninja Turtles’ Shredder.” Shredder lets his real emotions flow out as he sings about how lonely and miserable he is. That's just what happens when you chose the life of a villain.

Shredder doesn’t want to shred. He wants to love, instead. But he’s built an image of himself, and he projects it into the world as a pre-emptive defense; a suit of armor that protects him from suitors. Shredder, let go. Shredder, take off the blades. Shredder, it gets better.

The animated musical was written by Heather Anne Campbell.

DEADPOOL Movie Set Video and New Detailed Photos of Costume

0
0

We’ve already seen some cool-looking photos from the Vancouver set of Deadpool, but now thanks to Michael Burnyeat we have video footage from the same shoot. The footage shows the insane hero on a freeway overpass where an accident has just occurred. Deadpool is walking around with some guy near him jumping around and waving his arms, and then at one point he’s striking a pose on top of the wrecked automobile.

I've also included a new series of photos from the set that feature some close-up and detailed shots of Ryan Reynolds' badass-looking Deadpool costume. The photos we see here are of his stunt double, though.

The Tim Miller-directed movie will hit theaters on February 12th, 2016.

New GOTHAM Featurette Focuses On Sadistic New Villain, The Ogre

new-gotham-featurette-focuses-on-a-new-villain-the-ogre

FOX has released another featurette for Gotham, and this one turns its attention to a new villain set to be introduced when the series returns. He's called The Ogre, and he's a vicious villain that has a deadly hold over the city of Gotham.

The sadistic character is played by Milo Ventimiglia, and in the video below the cast talks about how he might be Jim Gordon's most dangerous challenge yet. The character targets any police officers who investigates him, and kills the people they love.

The episode is called "Beasts of Prey," and here's a description of it:

Gordon and Bullock investigate a cold case involving the Ogre, a serial killer who targets young women in Gotham City. Meanwhile, Fish plots her escape from the Dollmaker, and Bruce and Selina confront Reggie.

Gotham will be back on the air Monday, April 13th. If you want to read up on a few popular villains who will be introduced in Season 2, click here.
