Marvel has released two motion-poster’ for Daredevil — one that featured Matt Murdock transforming into Daredevil, and another one showing off the cast of the series. Also, if you look really closely, you can see Avengers Tower in the background.

Marvel's Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

This is the first of four live-action series that Marvel is developing, which also include A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. These will all lead to a team up of their main characters in Marvel’s The Defenders mini-series.

The series will premiere with thirteen one-hour episodes on April 10th at 12:01 AM PT.

This wonderfully energetic illustration comes from artist Coran “Kizer” Stone. I’ve been a fan of his work for a long time, and it’s always awesome to see Spider-Man and the Hulk fighting alongside each other. The piece is a commission he did called “Web Head and the Green Goliath.” Hopefully Hulk will be around for Avengers: Infinity War so we can see these characters kicking ass together on the big screen.

Upcoming SHERLOCK Special Confirmed to be Set in Victorian London

We’ve already seen the photos teasing the upcoming Sherlock special with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman sporting period garb (like in the image above), so we had an idea that this wasn’t going to be the kind of Sherlock episode we’ve been accustomed to. Showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed that the special will be set in Victorian London. In an interview with EW, Moffat explains how this fits in with the series:

“The special is its own thing. We wouldn’t have done the story we’re doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it – as we could hardly conceal – it’s Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble.”

The special is nearly complete, and Moffat is very happy with how it’s turning out. There’s no word on when the special will premiere, but it’s expected to air sometime in December.

wondercon-2015-schedule-revealed

WonderCon 2015 takes place next month at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA from April 3rd to the fifth, and the GeekTyrant team will be there to cover the event in all its glory.

The schedule of events and panels has been released, which you can check out here. I’ve gone ahead and posted some of the more interesting panels below for you to skim through.

It looks like a fun year that will include Back to the Future, The Last Man on Earth, The Flash, Gotham, Batman vs. Robin, Superman, Big Hero 6, Powers, Orphan Black, Insidious Chapter 3, and more.

Warner Bros. also has a blocked out section of the schedule, but they don’t say what they will be bringing to the con. I assume it will focus on some of their upcoming films, like Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, Hot Pursuit, and/or Entourage. It would be pretty awesome if they surprised everyone with some Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice footage, but I doubt that will happen.

Artist Michael Cho is the creator of the Comic-Con International 2015 Souvenir Book. As you can see it features The Spirit, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The artist had this to say in a statement:

"It was an honour to draw something that was a tribute to the great Will Eisner and I had a lot of fun trying to come up with an image that had an Eisner feel without aping Eisner's style.
"Like everyone else, I always enjoyed how Eisner seamlessly blended lettering and type into his Spirit splash pages, so that seemed like a good starting point.  And since Will Eisner laid so much of the foundation for modern cartooning, I wanted the cover to evoke a bright shining city built from the foundation laid down by Eisner and overseen by the Spirit."

Last week Kevin Smith confirmed that is developing Mallrats 2. It's going to be awhile before we see this sequel happen, but that didn't stop the filmmaker from throwing out a cool photo tease featuring Stan Lee and Michael Rooker with Jay and Silent Bob.

This is a fun little reunion from the first film in which Lee played himself and Michael Rooker played the villainous Mr. Svenning. Smith explained the photo on his Facebook page:

We goin’ back to the MALL, ya’ll! Stan Lee, Jay and Silent Bob and Michael Rooker are making a number 2. Talking about in this picture, not the movie. I’m aiming for the movie to be good. (This pic was taken yesterday, as all four of us gathered to shoot a really adorable Stan-centric spot for Audi that you’ll see online as we get closer to the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.)

Hopefully they can get the rest of the gang back together for the film! I imagine that's what Smith is planning.

The production on the new James Bond movie Spectre continues in Rome, and BadTaste.it has a bunch of videos from the set showing a car chase sequence being filmed. Apparently they filmed this particular car chase for nearly two weeks, so it’s got to be something pretty spectacular. We previously posted a video that you can check out here, but now there’s even more footage to watch.

In the movie, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Directed by the Academy Award-winning Sam Mendes (Skyfall), Spectre stars Daniel Craig, Ben Wishaw, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, David Bautista, Léa Seydoux, Andrew Scott, and Rory Kinnear. The movie hits theaters on November 6th, 2015.

Neil Marshall’s The Descent was such a great horror thriller. Hell, it would have been awesome without the edition of the murderous creatures lurking in the dark, but that took it to a whole new level of intensity.

Artist Chris Weston created this awesome poster art for the film, which focuses on a group of woman who go on a caving expedition that goes horribly wrong as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators.

Al Pacino Supports the SCARFACE Remake

Earlier this week Universal Pictures hired Straight Outta Compton writer Jonathan Herman to rewrite the script for their upcoming remake of Scarface. The initial drafts of the script were written by Paul Attanasio (Donnie Brasco) and David Ayer (Suicide Squad).

The movie will be developed by Chilean director Pablo Larrain (No), and the star of the original movie, Al Pacino, is in support of the remake. When asked about the remake news at the premiere of his new film Danny Collins, he said,"Oh, it's fine,” and that he thought the studio's plans were ”interesting." He went on to explain that remakes are just a part of Hollywood:

"It's part of what we do. We remake things. I may remake a movie I saw recently. I can't say what it is. It's about 50 years old."

So one of the most talented actors who has ever lived has accepted Hollywood's fascination with remaking things. This will be the third time that Scarface has been adapted for the big screen, and it will follow a Mexican lead set in present-day Los Angeles. The character will keep the first name of Tony from the Brian De Palma version, but will have a different last name.

We already know that Marvel gave Robert Downey Jr. the giant "A" from the Avengers tower, but for the rest of us who don't have Tony Stark money in real life, this rad Avengers-themed house might be the closest we get to living like a superhero. Or, in any case, living with the images of superheroes surrounding you at any corner.

Absolook Interior Design is responsible for the decor here, and this looks like a pretty kick-ass setup for any fan of Marvel's best hero squad. Check out the photos below.

Here's a surprise teaser trailer for your viewing enjoyment! This is our first look at Tom Cruise's fifth Mission: Impossible movie, which has been given the title of Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. The more was directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher), and it looks looks like it's going to be an awesomely fun flick! For the most part, I've enjoyed these Mission: Impossible movies, so count me in.

In this next chapter of the franchise Ethan Hunt and his team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate – "an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF."

Cruise is joined in the film by Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), Alec Baldwin (The Departed, 30 Rock), Simon Pegg (Star Trek, The World’s End), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Dawn of the Dead), Simon McBurney (The Last King of Scotland, The Theory of Everything), and Rebecca Ferguson (Hercules, The Red Tent).

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation will hit theaters on July 31st, and you can expect to see a full trailer for the film tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Jai Courtney Says SUICIDE SQUAD Is “Huge”

Jai Courtney (Divergent) is preparing for his role of Captain Boomerang in David Ayer’s upcoming DC Comics film, Suicide Squad. The movie centers around a gang of super villains who form a team to take on insane missions for the government. The concept behind these characters is awesome and with Ayer at the helm, I can’t help but think that the movie is going to be insanely hardcore.

Courtney recently talked about it at the premiere of his new film The Divergent Series: Insurgent:

“I’ve been training for three months in different martial arts. As you can imagine for that superhero world, the athletic expectations are rather high. I can’t reveal anything about the plot. I’m working with a great cast. It’s a wonderful group and I’m really pumped to be working among them. I play an Aussie, which is going to be really fun. It’s going to be a huge action film, very visual, but grounded in the characters.”

Suicide Squad also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Joel Kinamman as Rick Flaff, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

We’ve been getting a lot of information on the film recently, with details on the Joker, Deadshot, and how Batman will fit into the film.

The film is set to be in theaters on August 5th, 2016.

Daniel Bruhl on Joining CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

As we have seen lately, it seems like Marvel and DC are in a competition to get all of the best actors in the business under their belts. I am not going to lie, I am very impressed with the quality of actors they have each brought into the comic book world. Being a lifelong comic fan, I am thoroughly enjoying the comic book movie explosion. Yes, I know it is not going to last forever, but I am going to enjoy it while it's blowing up.

Marvel previously added another huge up and coming name to their list actors. Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, Rush) has been cast in Captain America: Civil War. It is yet unknown what part he will be playing, but rumor has it that he will be playing villain Baron Zemo.  The Wall Street Journal was able to get an interview with the actor, and this is what he said about being cast:

"It’s huge for me. From the world I am coming from and the movies I have done, this feels big—megalomania and huge. I think I will be walking around for the first week being amazed, like a little boy, to be in that universe. It is going to be fantastic. It is something new. That is why it is a challenge. But it is something I am very much looking forward to because this is entertainment on the highest level."

Both Marvel and DC are playing their cards close to their chests. They give us just enough “spoiler” information to fuel the fanboy/girl fire. We all know that they keep all of the juiciest stuff under wraps.

So let the speculation begin. I am truly excited to see who Bruhl will be playing. He is such a great young actor that I am sure he is going to be great at whatever he does.

IT FOLLOWS Gets Cool Poster Art and Expanded Release

It Follows is a horror film that has been getting a lot of praise from film critics. I had the opportunity to see it up at Sundance, and I’m not sure what the big deal is about it. I really enjoyed the first half of the film, and the concept was great, but the execution of the second half of the movie was very disappointing. You can read my review of it here

We have a fun piece of '80s style throwback poster art for the film to share with you today, though. I do like that they actually released a poster like this that isn’t a generic piece of crap like we get for most posters these days.

Regardless of what I think of the movie, there’s an audience out there that is going to really enjoy it. In fact, the movie has been doing so well in the four theaters that it has been playing in that it will get an expended release. It opened up in about 40 theaters this weekend, and will roll out to over 1,000 next weekend.

For 19-year-old Jay, fall should be about school, boys and weekends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, or something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her teenage friends must find a way to escape the horrors that seem to be only a few steps behind.

Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell (The Myth of the American Sleepover), It Follows stars Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Olivia Luccardi, Jake Weary, and Lili Sepe.

wes-craven-to-adapt-sci-fi-horror-comic-the-disciples-as-series

Iconic horror movie director Wes Craven is teaming up with comic writer Steve Niles to adapt the sci-fi horror comic The Disciples into a TV series. You may not have heard of this comic yet, because it has not been released yet.

Niles is the writer who co-created the comic 30 Days of Night, and The Disciples is his latest creation. The story is set in space, and it follows a team of interstellar private eyes who are tracking down a girl who has run off to join a cult on Jupiter’s moon Ganymede. It has been described as “True Detective in space.”

As of right now, Craven is just an executive producer. He hasn’t done a lot of TV in his career, but in the early '90s he co-created an anthology show called Nightmare Cafe. He’s also involved with the Scream series currently being developed by MTV.

Universal is producing the series, and it sounds like something that has potential. The comic is set to be released by Black Mask Studios in May.

I just finished watching all ten season of Friends. I never really watched the show while it was running because I was too into TV series like X-Files, Seinfeld and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was just one of those shows that didn't interest me back in the day, but I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Anyway, the day after I finished the series I came across these videos that feature new intros for The Avengers and Harry Potter that were cut together in the style of Friends. The video were created by Youtuber Jeremiah Rivera.

Actor Scott Glenn (Sucker Punch), who plays the character of Stick on Marvel's first Netflix series, Daredevil, spoke to IGN about his role, and particularly the stunt work. During the video interview Glenn makes a bold statement that "Daredevil is probably the most stunt heavy TV series ever shot." For me, Arrow is currently TV's most stunt heavy show, and if Daredevil can top it, that will be an impressive thing to see. Glenn also talks about his preparation for the role and the difficulty of doing stunts while acting blind and over 90 years old. Daredevil premieres on Netflix April 10th.
