In honor of the late Leonard Nimoy, the MMORPG Star Trek Online has erected two in-game statues in his memory. One of them is located on the planet Vulcan, and the other on New Romulus.

The actor proved voice work for the game as Spock and as the narrator that gives gamers a brief description of a new region of space that players enter for the first time. I included a video of Nimoy below doing the voice work for the game.

Cryptic Studios will also display black flags for the next week in the game's three main hub zones, Earth Space Dock, Qo'noS, and New Romulus. Permanent plaques will also be installed marking the passing of Nimoy and the other original series co-workers Majel Barrett, James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, and Gene Roddenberry.

JURASSIC WORLD Director Colin Trevorrow Finds INTELLIGENT LIFE

Colin Trevorrow made his mark with the excellent indie feature Safety Not Guaranteed, and immediately after that movie debuted, he and his creative partner Derek Connolly had an idea for a sci-fi movie called The Ambassador. But Steven Spielberg and Jurassic World came calling, so naturally the duo put those plans on hold to go make one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. But now that Jurassic World has wrapped and is nearing the finish line, Trevorrow and Connolly are lining up a revamped take on The Ambassador called Intelligent Life as their next project.

THR has the news, which includes word that Spielberg will executive produce Intelligent Life at DreamWorks while mega-producer Frank Marshall will produce. The Ambassador was about a U.N. delegate tasked with being Earth's representative when making contact with alien life, and when he falls in love with a mysterious woman, it turns out that she is an alien. There's no word yet on how different Intelligent Life will be from that initial concept, but the title sounds as if they're fully embracing the sci-fi element. Sources say it's close in tone to Safety Not Guaranteed, a character piece with a larger than life concept around them.

This sounds great to me because I loved Safety Not Guaranteed, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Trevorrow and Connolly were able to accomplish with Jurassic World. This sounds like it'll be their next movie, so even if JW is massively successful and the studio wants them to return for another sequel, Intelligent Life should be coming down the pipeline first.

Comic Book Heroes & Villains Get Business Cards in Cool Art Print

If you were to ever meet a comic book hero or villain in a business setting, chances are you'd be handed a card that looks something like the ones created by the team at Pop Chart Lab in this new piece called The Vocations of Heroes & Villains. For those characters who are attempting to hide their secret identities, I'm not sure how practical a lot of these cards would actually be - Barry Allen's, for example, seems to be a dead giveaway that he's The Flash - but from a design perspective, these are pretty cool. Let us know what you think below.

This print imagines the business cards of famed comic alter-egos, from Clark Kent to Tony Stark to Bruces both Banner and Wayne—as well as a slew of notable CEOs (Green Arrow, Green Goblin), mallet-wielding psychiatrists (Harley Quinn), and patriotic military personnel (Captain America, War Machine). The credentials of over 30 secret identities are featured here—all beautifully designed and hand-illustrated—to form a brave, bold, and business-casual rolodex that makes for an uncanny addition to your wall.

Bruce Willis Set to Star in Stephen King’s MISERY on Broadway

Bruce Wills will make his Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery. This is definitely something that I would fly to New York to pay and see! I’m a huge fan of King’s Misery, and Willis is perfect for the role of novelist Paul Sheldon.

If you haven’t read the book or seen the movie, the story follows Sheldon, who is in a car accident and rescued by his number one fan, who happens to be an insane nut. She ends up holding him captive and putting him through absolute hell.

The script for the stage production is being written by William Goldman, who is the same guy that wrote the screenplay for the 1990 film, which won Kathy Bates an Academy Award.

The story has the perfect setting for a stage production, and I think it has a lot of potential to be great. The production is being produced by Warner Bros.’ Theater Ventures, and will get a limited run in fall 2015. The exact dates and theater have yet to be announced.

A&E has released two new TV spots for Season 3 of the psychological thriller series, Bates Motel. I’ve got to say, things look like they're about to take an even more disturbing turn. Norman Bates is on the edge of making his transformation into a full-on psycho.

I’ve already had the opportunity to watch the first episode of the season, and I won’t spoil anything for you, but it was great, and I can’t wait to see the road these characters go down.

Season 3 premieres on March 9th, at 9pm on A&E.

BBC America has released another TV spot for Orphan Black Season 3. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the show on April 18th, but while you wait, check out this promo. It gives us an idea of what lies ahead for Sarah Manning and her clone sisters. Things are only going to get worse before they get better.

Sarah has always lived the life of an orphan outsider. But a clone is never alone.
Sarah hopes that cleaning out a dead woman’s bank account will solve all her problems. Instead, her problems multiply – and so does she. “Orphan Black” features rising star Tatiana Maslany (Cas & Dylan, Picture Day) in the lead role of Sarah, an outsider and orphan whose life changes dramatically after witnessing the suicide of a woman who looks just like her. Sarah assumes her identity, her boyfriend and her bank account. But instead of solving her problems, the street smart chameleon is thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery. She makes the dizzying discovery that she and the dead woman are clones…
But are they the only ones? Sarah quickly finds herself caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy and must race to find answers about who she is and how many others there are just like her.
Picking up where Season two left off with the reveal of new male “Castor” clones, Season three has the clone sisterhood realizing they are more vulnerable than ever before against the highly-trained, identical male-soldiers, with Sarah, Cosima, Alison and Helena putting their friendship to the test.

Intense Animated Short Set in a Womanless Post-Apocalyptic World

Two Friends is a very intense and compelling short film that is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which every woman and child had been wiped out due to a disease. The disease spread ten years prior to the events that you will watch in the short film. The film centers on two young friends who are trying to survive in this dark world.

This is a very dark short and it contains mature themes and visuals that some people might find disturbing. I’d say it’s probably not safe to watch at work. It’s a great character piece though, and it tells a solid story. The film is very engaging, and it just sucked me right in. I hope you check it out when you get the chance.

The film was directed by Paw Charlie Ravn for Profile Pictures.

ADVENTURE TIME Movie in Development at Warner Bros.

Adventure Time is one of the most popular shows on Cartoon Network that is both enjoyed by adults and kids. According to Deadline, the series is getting an animated feature film, and that should make fans happy. This series has a pretty hardcore fan base, and I think a feature film version will end up being pretty successful.

The series was created by Pendleton Ward, and it follows the adventures of a 12-year-old named Finn and his best friend dog Jake who fight in a quest to protect their beloved Land of Ooo from the Ice King, who is looking for his Princess Bubblegum.

The project is being produced by Chris McKay and Roy Lee. McKay is the same guy who is directing The LEGO Batman Movie, and he is also one of the creative minds on Robot Chicken.

I’m sure that everyone involved will come up with a ridiculously silly epic adventure for the heroes to embark on in the movie. It’s amazing how many Adventure Time cosplayers I see at the conventions these days.

I’ve come across a really interesting short documentary called The Sucklord. The doc was directed by Joey Garfield and it centers around The Sucklord, who is a guy who makes a living out of creating crazy custom bootleg toys.

In such a short amount of time, it does a great job of sucking you into this man's private little world. It’s pretty awesome to see how dedicated he is to his art and craft. He has found a really cool niche for himself.

Joey Garfield spends an afternoon with The Sucklord, talking Star Wars, Gay Rights, and why Super Villains have the upper hand.

Diablo Cody Will Rewrite BARBIE Movie

Last year it was announced that Sony Pictures would be teaming up with Mattel to develop a big screen adaption of Barbie. The studio initially hired Jenny Bicks to write a script, but now according to Deadline they’ve brought on Diablo Cody to give the script a rewrite. Cody has worked on films such as Juno, Young Adult, and Jennifer’s Body. Producer Walter Parkes had this to say in a statement:

“Diablo’s unconventionality is just what Barbie needs. It signals we’re going for a legitimately contemporary tone. We’re bringing her on because she had great ideas, but even more importantly, she truly loves Barbie.”

I don’t know. I’ve never bought into the Diablo Cody hype. She wrote one good movie that won an Oscar, but the rest of the stuff she has done is pretty mediocre work. She’s definitely an interesting choice to work on the film as she is mostly known for writing edgier films, and when I think of Barbie and don’t think about that Diablo Cody-type edge. But then what do I know about Barbie? Nothing, other than my girls are always asking for them when we go to the toy store.

This is a movie I know that I’m going to be dragged to by my kids, so I hope it's good for my sake and the sake of all the other parents out there who will be taking their kids to see this movie.

David Fincher’s Hardcore Advice to Young Filmmakers

David Fincher is one of my favorite directors working in Hollywood today. The guy is a master storyteller who not only can tell a great story through scripts, but also visually. He’s a guy that I would be happy to take advice from when it comes to making movies. This image shows us what kind of instructor he would be, and it’s almost exactly what J.K. Simmons might say in Whiplash. Fincher is a pretty hardcore dude, and I dig his style.

MGM to Give MRS. FRISBY & THE RATS OF NIMH a New Film Adaptation

$

MGM has picked up the rights to the classic Robert C. O’Brien children’s book Mrs. Frisby & The Rats of Nimh. The studio has also hired Ice Age 5 scribe Michael Berg to take on the scripting duties.

According to Deadline, the film will be a live-action and CG animated hybrid. They also say that Berg is looking to focus on an origin story in which “an imperiled mouse protagonist befriends a comical crew of lab rats as they turn hyper-intelligent. They escape a secret laboratory and become the great minds of vermin civilization, forced to outwit the humans hot on their tails.” That’s basically the premise of the story.

The studio is hoping that the property can be turned into a successful franchise. This isn’t the first time the book has been adapted into a movie. Back in 1982, Don Bluth developed The Secret of NIMH, which was the first movie he made after he left Disney to form his own animation studio. This was a movie that I grew up with and loved. Because of that, I’m curious to see how this new film turns out.

Here’s the description of the story from the book:

Mrs. Frisby, a widowed mouse with four small children, is faced with a terrible problem. She must move her family to their summer quarters immediately, or face almost certain death. But her youngest son, Timothy, lies ill with pneumonia and must not be moved. Fortunately, she encounters the rats of NIMH, an extraordinary breed of highly intelligent creatures, who come up with a brilliant solution to her dilemma. And Mrs. Frisby in turn renders them a great service.

First Look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Oliver Stone’s SNOWDEN

A couple photos have surfaced giving us out first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Oliver Stone’s upcoming political thriller Snowden. Nicolas Cage has also joined Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley in the new production.

The movie is based on the true story of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, who is being played by Gordon-Levitt. Cage will play a former U.S. intelligence officer. It great to see Cage taking on a more serious role again. Cage can be a great actor when he wants to be, hopefully he brings his A-game to this movie.

The thriller is based on the book by Luke Harding called The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man. It chronicles the events of “Snowden's move from Hawaii to Hong Kong, where he handed over the NSA documents to journalist Glenn Greenwald, and Time of the Octopus, the upcoming novel from the whistleblower's Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, telling the story about his time waiting for the government in Moscow to grant his asylum.”

Snowden is currently in production in Germany, and it will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2015. Here’s a description of the book:

IT BEGAN WITH A TANTALIZING, ANONYMOUS EMAIL: “I AM A SENIOR MEMBER OF THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY.”

What followed was the most spectacular intelligence breach ever, brought about by one extraordinary man. Edward Snowden was a 29-year-old computer genius working for the National Security Agency when he shocked the world by exposing the near-universal mass surveillance programs of the United States government. His whistleblowing has shaken the leaders of nations worldwide, and generated a passionate public debate on the dangers of global monitoring and the threat to individual privacy.

In a tour de force of investigative journalism that reads like a spy novel, award-winning Guardian reporter Luke Harding tells Snowden’s astonishing story—from the day he left his glamorous girlfriend in Honolulu carrying a hard drive full of secrets, to the weeks of his secret-spilling in Hong Kong, to his battle for asylum and his exile in Moscow. For the first time, Harding brings together the many sources and strands of the story—touching on everything from concerns about domestic spying to the complicity of the tech sector—while also placing us in the room with Edward Snowden himself. The result is a gripping insider narrative—and a necessary and timely account of what is at stake for all of us in the new digital age.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a piece of new concept art from their upcoming animated feature film Zootopia.

The movie is being directed by Byron Howard (Tangled), Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph), and co-directed by Jared Bush (Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero), who also wrote the script. The film was inspired by the classic Disney animated film Robin Hood. According to the director, he wanted to make a movie with animals in clothing and he wanted to continue the legacy of Disney animal-based movies.

In the movie, “the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.”

Zootopia opens in theaters on March 4th, 2016.

Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye Confirmed for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

With all of the talk surrounding Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Hawkeye in Captain America: Civil War, I just assumed it was happening. Well, we now have confirmation from THR that he will be back.

In a report about a new sci-fi film project Renner will be a part in called Story of Your Life, they say he will shoot Captain America: Civil War this spring. So I guess it’s all a done deal, which is great! I wonder how many other Avengers will be included in the story. This chapter in the MCU is going to be a big one, so I assume we’ll see other heroes get involved.

Hawkeye wasn’t a part of the original Civil War comic book storyline, but the MCU is kind of doing their own thing. The character was critical of Tony Stark’s position after the fact.

The movie has been described as being "Avengers 3.8," and it will also include Chris Evans as Captain America, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl in a mystery role, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, and of course, the brand-new Spider-Man.

The film is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and it’s set to be released on May 6th, 2016. Renner will next be seen as Hawkeye in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
