Jessica Chastain Joins the Cast of IRON MAN 3

Marvel Studios and director Shane Black are prepping up to get Iron Man 3 into production, and they are looking at casting Jessica Chastain (The Help, Take Shelter, Tree of Life) to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in the film. According to Deadline, she would play "a sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark."

This is actually the second time she's been up for this role. She was actually offered the role at one point, but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. After she dropped out Marvel met with other actresses such as Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher. It looks like Chastain's schedule has opened back up and Marvel still wants to cast her in the role, and this time it looks like she's going to take it.

Chastain is a wonderful actress who's going to be a great addition to the third film in the Iron Man franchise. She will also join Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett JohanssonGuy Pearce and Ben Kingsley in the movie. As previously reported this next chapter in the franchise will follow the Extremis storyline from the comics. I have no doubt that we're going to get yet another incredible Iron Man film.

Sean Penn to Join Stiller's THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY

Sean Penn is in talks to join a new comedy called The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, which Ben Stiller is directing and starring in. The rest of the cast includes the greatness of Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Shirley MacLaine and Patton Oswalt.

The story follows a timid magazine photo manager, played by Stiller, who lives life vicariously through daydreams embarks on a true-life adventure when a negative goes missing.

Penn just completed shooting the Ruben Fleischer directed period cop film The Gangster Squad, and he will next be seen in a film called This Must Be The Place, which was a giant piece of crap. I'm not the biggest fan of Penn these days, it might be fun to actually see him do some comedy again.

Abbey Lee Kershaw to Star in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road has hit a few roadblocks on its way to the big screen, but the director finally seems to have pulled all the pieces together to add another movie into the Mad Max franchise.

And it looks like one of those pieces might be a supermodel (as if Charlize Theron isn't enough). If The Daily Telegraph is to be believed, then Miller has just cast Aussie supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw in the long-awaited sequel. Rumor has it this role was once offered to Teresa Palmer, who backed out of the project because of the constant delays. So who will Kershaw be playing in the film?

A well-placed film source said: "Obviously it's set in a post-apocalyptic world, and women, especially beautiful women, are scarce, so men have been locking them up in cages. Abbey is one of them. She's perfect."

Doesn't exactly sound like Kershaw will have a lot asked of her in her big screen debut, but that's fine with me - that's just more opportunities to see stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron work together in a Mad Max movie (something fans probably never dreamed would happen).

Back in November of 2011, Miller explained the reasons for the delay, which involved unprecedented rains in the Australian outback turning their desert setting into fertile ground. Not exactly the same iconic imagery we know from the first three films. Hopefully, we'll see Fury Road get underway sometime this year.

New Images from James Bond SKYFALL

Thanks to the latest issue of Empire Magazine we have a few scans showing off a few new images from the Sam Mendes-directed James Bond film Skyfall. The pictures include new pic of Daniel Craig as 007, as well as pics of Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench and Naomie Harris.

As of right now, all we know about the movie is that Bond’s loyalty to M "is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost." The magazine will also reveal some additional story details on this film.

I'm extremly excited that we're going to see Bond back in action again on November 6th!

Adam McKay talks about Changes Coming for ANCHORMAN 2

Danny Trejo, during his handful of minutes on screen as a bartender in 2004's Anchorman, attempted to slap some reality into Will Ferrell's Ron Burgandy, saying, "You know, times are changing. Ladies can do stuff now and you're going to learn how to deal with it." Ron's response? If you're like me (I bet you are YOU geek!), you've watched the movie dozens of times, and can probably quote exactly what he said next. Say it with me, "What? Were you saying something? Look, I don't speak Spanish."
It looks like Ron should have been paying closer attention, because according to writer/director Adam McKay, there's a lot of change Ron and the Channel Four News Team will have to deal with in Anchorman 2.
McKay recently sat down with Empire and talked about just what new things will be thrown their way in the long-awaited sequel:
"We know these guys never deal well with change, and the good thing is that there's a big blast of change coming, according to the regular timeline. We're going to be throwing a lot of innovation at them, and they're not going to handle it well."
'Regular timeline' is of course German, for a 'whale's vagina.' No? I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Bloggers maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago. McKay translates for us though, explaining:
"It's right when all the news started changing with the 24-hours news cycle in '78 or '79. All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors, and any time you're talking about diversity and the Action News team, that's always fun to deal with."
McKay also promises another back-alley gang fight that I'm sure will pack in the cameos. As long as they're trying to pack in the diversity, I wouldn't mind Ben Stiller back in there pretending to be mexican, or Trejo back actually being mexican. It's win-win if you ask me...
McKay is currently writing the script with Ferrell. So just how much of the script have they completed so far?
"We've done about two per cent! Half a per cent? We've got five pages of story notes and chunks of story. We're holing up writing for the next three months."
I'm just excited the thing is getting made, period. We know it almost didn't happen.
Weigh in on Anchorman 2 and let us know what you hope to see in the sequel! I'm Abe Froman?

The new trailer gives us a better idea of what the story will be about, but it also shows a ton of awesome new footage that's sure to get you even more excited to see this movie. In the beginning I didn't think director Jon Chu would be able to pull it off, but it looks like he did it. This is the movie I've been waiting to see, a G.I. Joe movie made for the fans, by a fan.

The movie stars Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, D.J. Cotrona, and Channing Tatum.

The Joes will be unleashed on June 29th, 2012, and it looks like it's going to kick some major ass. Watch this new G.I. Joe trailer and tell me it doesn't look awesome! Yo Joe!

Mel Gibson to be Cast in MACHETE KILLS!

Last week news hit that Robert Rodriguez wanted Mel Gibson to take on a supporting role in Mechete Kills. Today it's being reported that the filmmaker is actually now in "serious discussions" to join the project, which I think is pretty awesome. Gibson's gotta do something to help his tarnished image, this is something that hasn't been easy for him. This seems like it would be a fun project for him to be involved with.

If cast he'll join Danny Trejo, who plays the title role. In the sequel Machete is drafted by the US government to track an arms dealer through Mexico before he can launch a rocket. This will of course lead into the third film called Machete Kills Again... In Space.

The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.

Gibson is on the verge of releasing his next film Get the Gringo, that he co-wrote, produced, financed and stars in. I'm a big fan of most of Gibson's work, he's a great filmmaker, and it's a shame about his screwed up personal life. I just hope his career picks up again so he can make that Viking movie he was developing before the shit hit the fan.

Pixar's BRAVE - Great New Full Trailer and Film Clip

Disney has released a wonderful third full-trailer for Pixar's incredible looking CG animated film Brave. The trailer give us a little more detail on the story and some of the plot points. It also shows off some great new footage. There's also a new clip from the film to watch called Eyes on the Pies. It features Merida's little triplet brothers getting into some trouble after she teaches them how to shoot a bow and arrow.

I'm very excited about this new Pixar movie. I think it's going to end up being one of their best films to date. It's just got all of the elements of a great story, and it looks so damn beautiful. The thing I like about it most is the fact that it's different than any of the other Pixar films that have been made. It's got that classic dark fairytale tone that Disney use to create in their early days of 2D animation.

The CG animated adventure was beautifully directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and the characters were voiced by Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane.

The movie hits theaters on June 22nd, 2012. Watch the clip and trailer then let us know why or why not you think this could be the best Pixar movie to date.

Here's the Synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In "Brave," a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

Here is the international trailer for Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman. There is not any new footage per se, but it does seem to be edited in a much better way than the U.S. versions.

The film stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the queen, and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. The film also stars; Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, Lily Cole, Sam Spruell, Liberty Ross, and Noah Huntley.

Here's the Synopsis:

Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.

LEGO Movie coming February 2014

Phil Lord and Chris Miller began their film career in 2009 with the animated children's book adapation, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The film, featuring the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Bruce Campbell, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Mr. T and Neil Patrick Harris, was a huge hit with $243 million at the box office. This year, they made their live-action directorial debut with 21 Jump Street, based on the television show, and it starred Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. Unlike Cloudy, it was more for teens and adults. The film was also a hit with $166 million. Now, Lord and Miller are returning to children's entertainment with none other than LEGO

Yes, a film about LEGOs is being made from the directors of 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. To me, this is a good thing. At least they're funny and they don't pull punches with their humor when it comes to adults or kids. They are joined by co-director Chris McKay, previously working with Robot Chicken. When talking about it before, they referred to it as "...mostly animated with a little live action element ... in an all-Lego universe." They have also said, "It involves many worlds. Basically, the least qualified Lego characters in the universe having to keep the world from being frozen together." The movie will be released February 28th, 2014, a little more than two weeks after the sequel to Cloudy, Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers will be released. Ready to kick some brick with LEGO?

Lionsgate to Develop CHAOS WALKING with Charlie Kaufman

$

Lionsgate thinks they've found the next big movie franchise with the young adult novel series called Chaos Walking, created by Patrick Ness. I've never heard of this book series, but apparently it has the potential to be a big futuristic Hunger Games kind of franchise. The studio has done something really interesting with the development of this franchise... they've set screenwriter Charlie Kaufman to adapt the first book in the series. For those of you who need a reminder of what films Kaufman has worked on, he's got Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Being John Malcovich and more. He's a great screenwriter, I just never thought he'd do anything so commercial like this, it doesn't seem like his style.

The story for the series is a thriller set in a dystopian future that "follows a boy and girl on the run from a town where all thoughts can be heard — and the passage to manhood embodies a horrible secret." Here's a full description of the first book in the series, The Knife of Never Letting Go...

Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony, he knows that the town is hiding something from him — something so awful Todd is forced to flee with only his dog, whose simple, loyal voice he hears too. With hostile men from the town in pursuit, the two stumble upon a strange and eerily silent creature: a girl. Who is she? Why wasn't she killed by the germ like all the females on New World? Propelled by Todd's gritty narration, readers are in for a white-knuckle journey in which a boy on the cusp of manhood must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.

It does sound like a cool story that will make for an entertaining movie. The fact that Kaufman will be developing it for the big screen is pretty damn cool as well. I've enjoyed all of the films he's written, and I'm interested to see what he does with this adaptation. Do you think he's a good choice to take on this material? Have you ever read the books? If so, do you think it will translate well for the big screen?

New AVENGERS Film Clip Featuring Agent Coulson and Captain America

I believe this is the eighth film clip that we've seen from The Avengers, but it actually feels like were on clip 27. The clip was shown during the Tavis Smiley show on PBS when Clark Gregg came on it as a guest. The clip is a nice little scene between Agent Coulson and Steve Rodgers. In it Couslon reveals to Rogers that he is the one responsible for the new design of Captain America's suit, so for those of you who have complained about the suits new modern look, you can blame it on Coulson. The clip is shown at the very beginning of the show, after that Gregg talks about his experience making the movie.

The Avengers is scheduled for release on May 4, 2012 in the U.S in 2D and 3D. 10 more days to go before this movie hits theaters!

STAR TREK Screenwriters Re-Writing Sequel to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Sony Pictures has hired Star Trek screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to re-write the script for the sequel to director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. The first draft of the script was completed by James Vanderbilt.

Kurtzman and Orci are the same writing team that also brought us the Transformers movies as well as Mission: Impossible III. They obviously have experience writing big event sized movies, Transformers wasn't their best work, but I think they'll be a good fit for Spider-Man. They'll also receive an executive producer credits on the sequel.

I'm very excited about the new Spider-Man film coming out on July 3rd. It looks pretty damn awesome, and as far as we know right now this version of Spidy has been planned out as a trilogy. Sony Pictures is looking to start production on this sequel the first quarter of 2013.

Producer Matt Tolmach had this to say in a statement,

Alex and Bob have a unique ability to write great character and spectacular action that makes them pitch perfect for Spider-Man. They’ve been friends of ours for a long time and they have an exciting take on the franchise – we’re thrilled to have them join the Spider-Man family.

Kurtzman and Orci also made a statement saying,

We grew up as huge Spider-Man fans so, to us, the opportunity to work on this film is akin to being handed the Holy Grail. We love the direction Sony and the filmmakers are taking the Peter Parker/Spider-Man mythology and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this legendary franchise.

Do you think these two guys will deliver a Spider-Man script we'll all enjoy?

Here's a fantastically silly 1978 trailer for The Avengers! Footage is used from several different shows of that 1970's era. I love how the Earth's Mightiest Heroes are going up against the band Kiss, and that Paul Lynde from Hollywood Squares plays Loki. It's crazy to see how far we've come with these characters. Who would have thought back then, that we would see what we have today? Enjoy the video!

Andy Lau to Join IRON MAN 3?

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame star Andy Lau is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of Iron Man 3. If cast, he will play an old friend of Tony Stark and according to the report the character represents "China’s technology sector – and will use China’s armored heroes to HELP Iron Man defeat 'The Mandarin' who is seen as a terrorist against both the US and China." This is the first time I've heard that The Mandarin would play a role in the film. I've heard other reports saying that Mandarin wouldn't be the main villain.

Lau is a badass, and I hope he ends up officially getting cast in the movie. He would be joining Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce and Jessica Chastain. Shane Black is directing the third installment of the franchise which is scheduled to be released on May 3rd, 2013.

New Trailer for Genndy Tartakovsky's HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA

Sony Pictures Animation has released a new domestic trailer for Genndy Tartakovsky's CGI animated film Hotel Transylvaina. The movie features the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Cee-Lo Green, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and David Koechner

Of course the kids are going to like this movie, but will it be adult friendly as well? The main selling point for the movie for me is the fact that it's coming from Tartakovsky, who's worked on and created some great animated series for TV such as Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars. I just hope he can bring that magic to the big screen with this movie.

The movie will be released in theaters on September 28th, 2012. Do you think this looks like it will be a good movie?

Here's the synopsis:

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Sandler will be playing Dracula in the story, Kevin James will play Frank – also known as Frankenstein – with Fran Drescher voicing Eunice, his in-your-face, over-the-top, and larger-than-life Bride. David Spade plays Quasimodo, once the hunchback of Notre Dame and now a crazy, passionate gourmet chef always looking for his next piece de resistance. Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon will play Wayne and Wanda, a pair of married, harried werewolves, parents to an ever-increasing litter of pups, who are looking forward to their family vacation at the hotel. Cee Lo Green is also joining the cast as Murray, a boisterous Mummy, once entertainer to the great Pharaohs, now the life of the party, and always feeling the urge to let loose and sing. Finally, Andy Samberg will voice the role of Jonathan, a 21-year-old regular guy, carefree and full of life, whose world travels land him at the Hotel.
