It's a rare thing for me to see people cosplaying characters from the Stargate universe, let alone the actual Stargate that is used in the franchise. This is the best Stargate cosplay that I’ve seen, mainly because it’s the only one I’ve ever seen! The inventive Stargate costume was created by Hungarian cosplayer Nyima-chan, and it really looks beautiful.

In case you haven't heard, next week we will be getting another trailer for Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. While we wait for that, we've got a photo here that might be able to tide you over. It's not too exciting, but it does offer a new look at Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), and Captain America (Chris Evans). They look a little worried, and they should be! Ultron is looking to exterminate every human in the world! Hopefully the new trailer will offer fans even more badassery from the movie.

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

The movie hits theaters on May 1st, 2015. What do you hope to see in the upcoming trailer?

Thanks to USA Today for the photo.

Check out this wonderfully amusing art series by Áron Elekes that gives us an interesting look at Marvel and DC superheroes in uncommon situations. Some of them include Spider-Man taking a deuce on the can and Iron Man trapped in his armor really needing to take a piss. The other superheroes featured in the set include Batman and Wonder Woman. This seems like it would have been a fun exercise, and as you can see for yourself, it’s really great work.

Game of Thrones is about to get even more epic! HBO and IMAX have teamed up to bring the incredible fantasy series to IMAX! This will be the first time ever that a TV series will grace IMAX screens, and what better way to start out than with Game of Thrones.

The plan is to show the final two episodes of the fourth season, along with an exclusive trailer for the upcoming Season 5. This Game of Thrones IMAX event will run from January 23rd through the 29th at 150 theaters across the U.S.

The episodes that are being shown will go through the remastering process so that it fits the IMAX format, so we are going to get the full effect of this. If you want to attend, you'll be able to purchase tickets in the coming weeks on Imax.com. There's no word on how much it will cost, but  this is definitely an event that I want to attend.

Pamela Levine, chief marketing officer at HBO said in a statement,

“The cinematic brilliance and grand scope of the series is perfect for the IMAX format. We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event.”

IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond added,

“IMAX always seeks innovative ways to provide moviegoers a unique and differentiated experience and today’s partnership with HBO and ‘Game of Thrones’ achieves just that. This deal also furthers our efforts to offer exhibitors the opportunity to participate in alternative forms of content in a new and exciting way.”

I'm excited to see how this looks on the IMAX screens. After this, the only way I'll want to watch Game of Thrones is in IMAX! Will you be attending this event?

Unreleased WARCRAFT Movie Trailer Recreated by Artist

Fans who were able to attend BlizzCon 2014 back in November were treated with a special trailer for Duncan Jones’ upcoming Warcraft movie. The internet was flooded with descriptions of the footage that was shown, one of which we've included below. To take things to the next level, though, artist Yanmo Zhang created a series of spectacular illustrations that show us what he saw in the trailer. He also offers a little description of what is happening with each image. You can see his work below the following footage description from geeklegacy.com:

We start with an overhead fly-by view of a cgi storm wind, which looked amazing even to these Horde eyes.  Lothar in a voice over during the flyby “I’ve spent more time protecting my King than my own son.” We see Lothar sitting in a room that looks like some sort of Armory. He has on full plate armor and is holding a large sword and there is a shield on the floor next to him. Then it cuts to the throne room in storm wind (meticulously recreated from the game to the last brick) Lothar – ” Does that make me loyal(cuts back to Lothar close up) or a fool?”
Cuts to a desert rocky looking region that I am assuming is Draenor. Durotan-“I’ve led thousands of warriors into battle, but I fear being a father.” We see Durotan walking for a second then it goes and shows Durotan’s baby mama lying on the ground with a pregnant belly. Durotan-“Does that make me a leader, or a coward?”
It cuts to what looks like Durotan sinking in water with a weapon above him? Lothar-“Some see death as having some greater purpose, but when it is one of your own it is hard to grasp anything good comes from it.” While he is saying this it looks like they have found a dead orc in Azeroth and Lothar touchs the corpse and he sees black blood.
We then cut to a giant wood gate with two orc grunts pushing it open and Durotan talks again. “Our hope is destroyed, there is nothing to go back too. Is war, the only answer?”
Cuts to a battle scene in a forest region, large number of Footmen and Orcs charging each other. We then see a floating Dalaran then it looks like some high elves, I can’t tell for sure but I am guessing it is the Kirin Tor. Then I can’t really tell if it was King Lane or Lothar but he is walking with a Dwarf towards the great forge in Iron Forge. Short clip of Khadgar doing what looks like an arcane blast. There is a really cool clip of a Gryphon riding in and tearing up some orcs.

The film stars Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wryn, Robert Kazinsky as Orgrim, Paula Patton as Garona, Ben Foster as Medivh the “Guardian," Daniel Wu as Gul’dan, Ruth Negga as Lady Taria, Toby Kebbell as Durotan, Ben Schnitzer as Khadgar, and Clancy Brown as Blackhand “The Destroyer.”

It set to be released on March 11th, 2016. There’s no doubt this movie is going to be a true fantasy epic filled with amazing visuals and fantastical characters. I saw some footage from the film at San Diego Comic-Con last year, and I can’t wait to see more!

Trailer for Ethan Hawke's Drone Warfare Thriller - GOOD KILL

Andrew Niccol, the director behind films such as Gattaca, Lord of War, and The Host, has made a new film called Good Kill. This is a war-based thriller that centers around a drone pilot played by Ethan Hawke, who is struggling with his job and the missions that he is ordered to complete.

Niccol and Hawke worked together already on the fantastic film Gattaca, and it's great to see them back together again. This looks like a great film, and it has a solid supporting cast which includes Bruce Greenwood, Jake Abel, January Jones, and Zoe Kravitz. Here's the synopsis:

A fighter-pilot turned drone-pilot, based in Las Vegas, fights the Taliban by remote control for twelve hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs and feuds with his wife and kids for the other twelve. But the pilot is starting to question the mission. Is he creating more terrorists than he’s killing? Is he fighting a war without end? One soldier’s tale with epic implications.

The movie will be released this year, but there's no exact date set yet.

How To Get Back Into Anime In 2015

$
0
0

Last year I took the bait. The geek hype on Attack on Titan was at a fever pitch, and for the first time since Toonami, I was diving back into the world of anime. Not long after finishing, I jumped into some of the other popular titles the genre had to offer at the time, and now a year later I have a Crunchyroll subscription.

Getting "back" into anime, especially in the year 2015, is no cakewalk. A year ago I was a casual fan whose only real experience with the genre were titles such as Death Note, Naruto, and of course Dragon Ball Z. If I knew what I was missing out on, I would've come back a lot sooner, and I encourage you to as well. Be warned though, this journey will not be completed without soul searching, understanding of cultural values, and keeping an open mind. This guide chronicles why you should get back to anime, as well as some of the struggle behind this ultimately rewarding experience.

I bet you never knew cartoons could be so serious, huh?

There Has Never Been A Better Time To Watch Anime

Otaku kids today don't know how good they have it. Back in my day if you wanted to watch an obscure anime, you had three options.

  1. Buy the anime network from your cable subscriber.
  2. Go to FYE and hope no one thinks you are looking at porn.
  3. Go to the comic shop.

None of these options were ideal, and all of them were expensive. After all was said and done, you'd have spent a lot of time and cash and may not have even liked what you ended up purchasing. It wasn't optimal, but it was the only option fans really had.

This is why streaming services (and the internet in general) have been a godsend to fans of the genre. You can pay under 10 dollars a month to several different outlets and have instant access to literal tons of content. Crunchyroll, Funimation, NicoNico, The Anime Network, and some not-so-legal sites I won't mention are all great places to test the waters of anime.

And test you shall.

Watch A Lot And Make Decisions Quickly

After you finish that really awesome show all your friends have been talking about, you're going to want to ride that satisfying high into a new series with high expectations. About half the time you're going to be disappointed. Sure, your buddy was on the mark about you loving Akame Ga Kill, but not so much when it came to Ouran High School Host Club.

With the accessibility of anime at an all-time high, the fans have risen in droves. There is nothing wrong with taking the advice of an Otaku, but just because they are super fans does not mean their opinion on anime is more valid than yours. Here are some things you'll hear from an Otaku that were always red flags for me when it comes to a new series:

  1. "You're only going to really appreciate this series if you read the manga."
  2. "This show is totally worth it for this character alone!"
  3. "It starts out really slow but it picks up about midway through and then gets really good at the end."

You'll learn rather quickly that anime is super subjective, and some of the more hardcore fans have a much higher patience for series than you will. Just know you don't have to settle, and can always just browse.

A mistake I made early on in my journey was watching a show and waiting for something to happen to make things more interesting. Sometimes that thing never comes, and you realize you just wasted eight hours of your life to a just "blah" ending (see Angel Beats). Other things you'll notice are...

  1. A lot of anime have the same types of characters.
  2. A lot of anime have the same plot twists and story lines.
  3. A lot of anime are the same anime with different art.

For this reason, you should not at all be afraid to...

Branch Out

When I first got back into anime, I was dead set on doing action anime and only action anime. Then I got bored because....

  1. A lot of anime have the same types of characters.
  2. A lot of anime have the same plot twists and story lines.
  3. A lot of anime are the same anime with different art.

There are only so many times you can watch a young man with a natural skill and unrelenting spirit succeed where so many other attractive women have failed. This is why it's good to branch out. My advice? Go for weird. The weirder it looks, the better. One of my favorite anime of 2014 was "The Devil Is A Part Timer." A show in which the devil flees from hell and tries to regain his throne through getting a job at a fast food chain is definitely not something you'll see stateside, and it's incredibly hilarious.

There's the good side of unique humor to the Western world, and then you'll encounter stuff that will make you say "ummmm...". For this reason, it's good to keep an open mind about...

Cultural Differences

Initially I thought subtitles would be the biggest drawback to watching Japanese anime again, but I was wrong. We all know Japan is weird, but you don't know weird until you go deep into the rabbit hole of this genre. Let's talk about two anime that were at the top of many sites' lists for 2014.

Now in its second season, Sword Art Online was pretty tame this year. Last year, however, featured a weird side story where the cousin of the main character had a sexual longing for him. Not in a comical way either. Did I mention she was raised as his sister? That was weird, but didn't even hold a candle to Kill La Kill.

It's actually easier to list all the things that might offend someone with a limited understanding of anime when it comes to Kill La Kill so here goes...

  • The main character is a 17 year old girl who gets naked about once an episode. She's also drawn to look younger than 17.
  • The father of the main character's best friend frequently tries to rape her early on in the series. It's meant to be comedic, but I was pretty "what the f***" about it the entire time.
  • I'm not one for spoilers, so I won't really go into detail...but the molestation doesn't stop there.
  • There's incest.

By now, if you were on the fence, you've probably "nope'd" out wondering if you'll go to jail just for reading that description. I will say there is a reason for all of that...a paper-thin one, but a reason nonetheless. It's by far the hardest hill to conquer when it comes to getting into anime, but rest assured you can kind of avoid all that if you still want to watch anime. Sex jokes are pretty ingrained into Japan's culture so I'm not going to lie to you...there will be more than a few in your quest, but Kill La Kill is one of the more extreme.

So there it is - everything I learned in a year's time, all for you to hopefully ease your way back into the world of anime! Enjoy and find what you like!

ARROW Producer Wants Batman in Series and Details on Upcoming Episodes Revealed

During an interview with THR, Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim said he would like to introduce Batman into the series. I don't know if it will ever happen, but if it did, the show's ratings would blast through the roof! Here's what Guggenheim said:

“At the end of the day it'd be so awesome to have Batman on the show. That'd be really cool. I don't think that will be happening anytime soon, but you never know…one day.”

The producer went on to point out that when they were planning the series, they never thought it would include characters such as Huntress, Deadshot, and Deathstroke, but here they are. Now in its third season, we also have Ray Palmer, Katana, and the Suicide Squad. The Flash, of course, has also been introduced into the universe. So I guess one day it could be possible to see the Caped Crusader make an appearance.

If that happens, I seriously doubt that it will connect to the DC movie universe being built, or the TV series Gotham. Batman would have to separately exist within the Arrow and Flash universe, which is perfectly fine, and I hope they do it!

We also have some intriguing details on the upcoming episodes of Arrow from TVLine. There are SPOILERS in the following information, so if you read ahead, be prepared to find out some cool intel!

The three episodes following Oliver's seeming death "are among the best we've ever done. They're incredibly compelling," EP Marc Guggenheim promises. The fallout at home not only "makes it necessary" for Laurel to don the Canary costume, but also brings together characters that previously haven't shared a lot of screentime. "There's a lot of Thea and Felicity," and "[Felicity will] have some pretty big moments with Laurel as well." Diggle gets "emotional" in the first hour back, shares David Ramsey, who also hints that the H.I.V.E. storyline will be revisited. Viewers also haven't seen the last of another elite group. "We're definitely going to bring back the Suicide Squad," EP Andrew Kreisberg confirms. And though Sara's killer has been unmasked, Sin will play "a pivotal part" in that storyline in Episode 12, while Sara (Caity Lotz) and Vertigo (Peter Stormare) both appear in Episode 13. Not to be outdone, big bad Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) returns the following week.

The series is set to return on January 21st. Are you excited about what is coming?!

We're all anxiously awaiting J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but while most of us are content with talking about the latest plot rumors, dissecting the newest trailer, and generally getting excited about seeing a new Star Wars movie on the big screen, one fan is using his downtime to give the rest of us a gift from a galaxy far, far away every day of this year. Artist Gerard Folz (via MTV) has announced that he'll draw one Star Wars comic every day in 2015, and he's already off to a great start.

Good luck finishing out the year, Gerard, and keep up the great work!

ASSASSIN'S CREED, FANTASTIC FOUR 2, and More 20th Century Fox Release Dates

I was beginning to think we'd never see an Assassin's Creed film starring Michael Fassbender. Plans for a film adaptation of the popular video game have been tossed around for the past few years — remember when Tom Hardy was going to star in a Splinter Cell movie? Whatever happened to that project? — and now 20th Century Fox has finally set a release date for Assassin's Creed: December 21st, 2016. Now we'll just have to wait and see exactly which portions of which game(s) they'll use as the source material, since the Assassin's Creed universe is quickly expanding with the release of at least one new game every year.

The Animus — the in-game machine that drives the narrative — is pretty out-there, and depending on the tone and style of the movie, I can easily see it being depicted in the same kind of way that the godawful Total Recall remake handled its Rekall machine: too slick, too sanitized, too boring. But then again, the filmmakers could also use something like Inception as a template, and that might give the whole project a life and vitality that could make this the best film adaptation of a video game ever made. Time will tell.

In the meantime, The Wrap reports that 20th Century Fox has also announced a few more release date changes: a comedy called Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates will drop on July 29, 2016; Hugh Jackman's P.T. Barnum movie The Greatest Showman on Earth arrives in theaters on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2016; the romantic drama The Mountain Between Us hits on February 10th, 2017; Fantastic Four 2 will debut on June 2, 2017; and Matt Reeves' sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will bow on July 14, 2017.

Which of these movies are you looking forward to the most?

I have an incredibly delightful stop-motion animated short film for you to watch today called Death and the Robot. The animation and character design work that was used to tell this story is superb. This is a dark yet beautiful tale with a hint of light humor. Here's a brief summary:

Bored of their stagnant existence, two lonely souls leave their safe havens behind and discover one another, yielding an everlasting legacy that will forever change their dying world.

The short was directed, animated and conceived by Austin Taylor, from a script written by co-producer Alexander Thompson. The film is about a year old, but I’ve never seen it until I came across it on Firstshowing. I’m glad that I did, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you do, too.

*Updated post with EW's cover that actually takes a magnifying glass to the poster above.

Marvel is at it again with their ant-sized Ant-Man marketing antics. The first thing they released for the movie was an ant-sized teaser trailer, but we eventually got a human-sized preview. Now the studio has released the first official poster for the movie, and a magnifying glass would really come in handy for it. I think this is an amusing marketing campaign that they're running for the film. Sure, some people will find it annoying, but the studio is having fun with the character! I'm sure we'll get a more epic poster for the film in the near future.

Stay tuned for the the full teaser trailer, which is supposed to premiere tonight during the two-hour series premiere of Agent Carter. We'll make sure to get it up on the site for you as soon as it's available online.

Here's the magazine cover!

Bradley Cooper visited Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to promote the release of American Sniper, and though I haven't heard great things about that movie, at least one good thing came out of it: the world is now aware of Cooper's totally bitchin' air guitar skills.

Skip ahead to about the two minute mark in the video below to see Cooper shred the guitar solo on Neil Young's "Down By The River." As someone who plays guitar, I'll admit that the first minute or so of Cooper's solo wasn't overly impressive, but by the end, he's absolutely killing it, throwing his whole body into it and really going for it. It's obvious that he's practiced this many, many times. If you like what you see, make sure to check out the 2006 documentary Air Guitar Nation, which follows a few contestants as they compete in the first US air guitar championships. Yes, that's a real thing, and yes, it's as rockin' as you imagine.

I finally got a PS4! My wife got one for me for Christmas this year, and one of the games that I'm most excited about playing on it is the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. This is one of my favorite video game franchises, and thanks to Game Informer we have some new details on the upcoming game, a behind-the-scenes featurette for you to watch, and the image you see above.

According to the magazine, the game takes place three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, and Drake’s life has changed significantly.

He is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.

The mythical pirate treasure he's looking for is in Madagascar, and this time around Drake will be joined by his long-lost brother, Sam. The game looks stunning, and it's sure to be another great chapter of the story. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be available in 2015 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. I've also included a previously released 16-minute gameplay video for you to check out if you haven't seen it already.

With a third Taken movie about to be released, the Screen Junkies have decided to revisit the first two Taken films in their latest Honest Trailer. These videos never cease to entertain, and this latest one is pretty fantastic. They make some great observations.

America's about to get Taken for the third time! So revisit the first two Takenings, which prove that Liam Neeson should pretty much stay out of Europe.

Tak3n will hit theaters on January 9th, and I'll be there to watch Liam Neeson kick some more ass! Will you?

FARGO Showrunner Noah Hawley Says Season 2 Will Be "A Lot Bigger"

$

0

The FX original series Fargo was my favorite TV show of 2014. Yep, I liked it better than Game of Thrones, better than True Detective (just barely), and better than anything else that graced the small screen last year. Showrunner Noah Hawley masterfully expanded the universe that the Coen Brothers created in their classic film, and while some of the show's characters bore similarities to the characters in the movie, Hawley made them distinct enough that they became characters I loved spending time with each week (or ones I loved to hate).

Chronologically, the first season took place after the movie, but the upcoming second season will take place long before it, in the late 70s. According to Hawley, it will follow a young Lou Solverson and detail the often-referred-to incident that happened in Sioux Falls, North Dakota. But now Hawley has given fans some more information about what to expect when the second season debuts later this year. In a recent interview with EW, Hawley says,

The scope of the storytelling this season is a lot bigger—thematically, on a character level, and story-wise. It has more of an epic feel to it. That’s exciting. Within that expansion, we’re still holding onto that Fargo tone. My feeling was that Joel and Ethan never repeat themselves, so the show would be false if we just tried to do the same thing again. We should take their example.
It’s about a small-town married couple who find themselves caught in the middle of a war between the last of the mom-and-pop crime syndicates and an out-of-town new corporate crime syndicate. It’s about how the couple manages that situation.
Last year, you could call it a four-hander—Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman were really the core. We’ve probably doubled that in terms of the characters that we’re really invested in this time. Their stories are all connected. You’re essentially seeing different perspectives on the same story.
North Dakota is the frontier, even in ’79. It’s a frontier mentality, and there is a Western feel to [the season]. It’s not the ’70s in a Boogie Nights way, but it was the hangover, the morning after the ’60s, the moment before Ronald Reagan came in with his “shining city on a hill.” The idea is this was the lowest moment in American history since the Depression. We also have a Miller’s Crossing component—Gabriel Byrne was caught in a war between two sort-of rival gangs; we have a similar dynamic.

Part of the reason the first season was so fantastic was because there was a wonderful sense of surprise to it...the shock factor that Hawley was actually able to pull off what sounded like a terrible idea. (Similar to the way Phil Lord and Chris Miller have made hit after hit from what probably should have been disasters.) It sounds like the showrunner has a great sense of where he wants the new season to go, and I can't wait to see if season two lives up to the astounding quality they achieved with the first season.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the second season of Fargo?

When someone takes the time to combine three things the internet loves — puppies, kittens, and Indiana Jones — into one video, it's pretty obvious that person is pandering in order to get attention. But when they manage to pull off that combination in a remarkable way, as is the case with Zach King's short film "Indiana Bones: Raiders of the Lost Bark," we're happy to give them the attention they're seeking.

King's dog makes his acting debut in this super impressive short film, but what may be even more impressive is that the dog has over 92,000 followers on Instagram. (Wow.) The dog's actual name is Indiana, which makes this whole project even more meta: as you'll recall from the end of The Last Crusade, the character Indiana Jones took his name from his family dog. Now the dog has become the whip-wielding hero, recreating some of the most iconic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark, including the temple sequence, a battle with Nazi kittens, and the opening of the Ark of the Covenant. Check it out, and be sure to pass it on to your dog-loving Indiana Jones friends out there.

DEMONIC: Trailer for James Wan-Produced Horror Film

$

James Wan has created some of the best horror movies of the last 10 years. The first full trailer for Demonic was released today, and it leans pretty heavy on Wan's name as writer and producer. This is the second film from director Will Canon, who is not mentioned in the trailer. The synopsis is pretty simple: "A police officer and a psychologist investigate the deaths of five people who were killed while trying to summon ghosts." With a "story by" credit from Wan, odds are it's going to be a well-plotted script. The movie has a bit of a found footage vibe without relying on it to tell the story. My favorite part of the trailer - aside from the floating blood - is the infrared camera.

Demonic stars Maria Bello as Dr. Elizabeth Klein and Frank Grillo as Detective Mark Lewis. The movie also features an ensemble of "victims/missing" people played by Cody Horn, Dustin Milligan, Megan Park, Scott Mechlowicz, and Aaron Yoo.

Originally set for a release last September, Demonic was pushed back to this year. No new official date has been announced. I hope the push back was for a better spot and not because the movie sucks.

Check Out All of the FROZEN Easter Eggs in Disney's BIG HERO 6

What did you guys think of Walt Disney Animation's Big Hero 6? I thought it was pretty solid; the character designs were fun, the setting (San Fransokyo) was very cool, Baymax was awesome, and the performances were strong, but I thought the story ended up being a bit too predictable. It felt a little too much like a mash-up of scenes we've seen executed better in other films (flight scenes of How To Train Your Dragon, genius inventor character from Iron Man, etc). But it was still an enjoyable movie, and in celebration of its upcoming home video release — it hits Disney Digital and Disney Anywhere on February 3rd, and Blu-ray on February 24th - Disney Anywhere has released a short video revealing some of the bonus content you'll get with that purchase.

Considering that the mega-successful Frozen was the film Disney Animation released right before Big Hero 6, it only makes sense that these animators would include a handful of easter eggs and references to their big moneymaker in the new movie. Think you caught them all during your theatrical viewing the first time around? No way. Take a look at the video below to spot them all.

T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein In Talks to Join DEADPOOL Cast

Ryan Reynolds is set to star in a solo Deadpool movie after the disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but most fans agree that it wasn't his fault that movie was awful. Following years of campaigning for a second chance, he's finally getting one, because Fox has slated a Deadpool spin-off to arrive in theaters on February 12th, 2016. So with Reynolds starring as The Merc with a Mouth, who will share the screen with him?

The Wrap reports that Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller and Game of Thrones alum Ed Skrein are in talks for roles in the feature, which will be directed by VFX whiz Tim Miller. Aside from his work on the hilarious HBO comedy Silicon Valley, you may recognize T.J. Miller from a number of different films: Cloverfield, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and his voice work in Big Hero 6 and the How To Train Your Dragon franchise. He's in talks to play - shocker - an additional comedic character who will compliment Deadpool's sense of humor.

Skrein played Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones before bailing on the show to take the lead role in the Transporter film franchise. The Wrap floats the possibility that he could be playing the film's villain, and Skrein has certainly shown that he has the physicality to play a comic book bad guy, but details about his potential role remain secret at the moment.

OK, all of you diehard Deadpool fans out there: which character from the comics do you think Miller could be playing, and do you think Skrein would make a good villain if that's the way this casting plays out?
