THE BOURNE LEGACY - Awesome new International Trailer

An awesome international trailer for Universal Pictures' The Bourne Legacy has been released for your viewing pleasure. The action film was directed by Tony Gilroy and Jeremy Renner has taken over the lead role. The movie also stars Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, and Oscar Isaac. Renner sure likes to punch people in the face in this new trailer. The film seems to have a completely different style than the previous films, they've done away with the whole shaky cam thing. As a fan of the Bourne franchise I think this movie is going to make me and the other fans happy.

Here's the Synopsis:

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

The film hits theaters on August 3rd, 2012. Have you liked what you've seen from this movie so far?

Here's five new awesome character posters from Jon Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The posters feature Snake Eyes (Ray Park), Cobra Commander, Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), Joe Colton (Bruce Willis), and Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki), Duke (Chaning Tatum), Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee), and Jinx (Elodie Yung).

I'm really rooting for this G,I. Joe sequel. As you know I hated the first one, but this looks like it's actually going to be some that the fans of the original cartoon series and toys will enjoy.

Here's the short Synopsis:

The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

The movie will be released on June 29th, 2012. Who's your least favorite G.I. Joe character?

SIN CITY 2 Casting News - Mickey Rourke, Michael Madsen and Rosario Dawson

$

Director Robert Rodriguez is gearing up to shoot the long awaited sequel to Sin City and today news has hit that Mickey Rourke, Michael Madsen and Rosario Dawson will all be back to reprise their roles in Sin City: A Dame to Kill. Rodriguez talked about the casting with MTV in which he said,

[Rourke is] all excited to come back, but he's probably the first one. I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she's pumped. They've always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun.

I imagine he'll end up getting everyone he wants back for the sequel if he wants them. Well, everyone except for maybe Clive Owen. His character Dwight McCarthy plays a big role in the story, but it's possible that another actor might step in to the role. I hope he comes back for it, but as of a few months ago it didn't sound like he'd been clued in on what's going on with the film saying,

Listen, I had a fantastic time with [Rodriguez] on that movie. I thought the movie was seriously groundbreaking. I'm a big fan of it as a movie. So yeah, of course I would be interested in doing it — but I really don't know what the state of it is.

Maybe since then Rodriguez has talked to him, but it would be a shame if they weren't able to work something out. We still aren't sure what movie the filmmaker plans to direct first, Machete Kills or Sin City 2. Bloody-Disgusting does report that Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez are both in talks to reprise their roles from the Mechete.

It will be fun to see the sequels for these films. With Rodriguez we at least know we'll be entertained with some over the top craziness. Which of the two sequels are you more excited about?

New Crazy Trailers for David Cronenberg's COSMOPOLIS

Two new trailers have been released for David Cronenberg's new film Cosmopolis. The film looks completely insane, and that's what makes me want to see it. Cronenberg has made some pretty incredible and jacked up films in his career, and this movie will fit right in with the Cronenberg movie collection.

The film is an adaptation of Don DeLillo's 2003 novel of the same name, and story centers on Robert Pattinson's billionaire character, who is on a journey in a luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get haircut in a crazily bizarre semi-futuristic Manhattan. Of course... insanity ensues.

This movie is classic Cronenberg at his best. This also looks like it could be Pattinson's best movie role to date. The film also stars Sarah Gadon, Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, and Jay Baruchel.

Here's the synopsis:

New York City, not-too-distant-future: Eric Packer, a 28 year-old finance golden boy dreaming of living in a civilization ahead of this one, watches a dark shadow cast over the firmament of the Wall Street galaxy, of which he is the uncontested king. As he is chauffeured across midtown Manhattan to get a haircut at his father’s old barber, his anxious eyes are glued to the yuan’s exchange rate: it is mounting against all expectations, destroying Eric’s bet against it. Eric Packer is losing his empire with every tick of the clock. Meanwhile, an eruption of wild activity unfolds in the city’s streets. Petrified as the threats of the real world infringe upon his cloud of virtual convictions, his paranoia intensifies during the course of his 24-hour cross-town odyssey. Packer starts to piece together clues that lead him to a most terrifying secret: his imminent assassination.

Cosmopolis doesn’t have a US release date yet. It will be playing a Cannes, and open in France on May 23rd. Watch the two trailer below and tell us what your favorite Cornenberg movie is.

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio Officially on for THE WOLF OF WALL STREET

As of today director Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are officially signed on to make another movie they've been wanting to do together called The Wolf of Wall Street. The film is based on the memoir by Jordan Belfort and tells the story of "his days as a hard partying, drug addicted stockbroker who was indicted in 1998 for security fraud and money laundering and served a 22-month federal prison stretch."

I love watching the films of Scorsese and DiCaprio. They're a great team of awesome talent that knows how to make solidly amazing films. I expect nothing less but complete greatness from these guys, and I'm sure they'll bring it with their fifth collaboration.

Executive producer and writer HBO's of The Sopranos and Boardwalk EmpireTerence Winter, wrote the script for the movie. For those of you not familiar with they guy the movie is based off of he "came of age on Wall Street in the ’80s and early ’90s, and his success was undermined by the decadence fueled by the endless money he made in New York at that time. Though a period piece, this tale is all about extravant excess and that certainly resonates with those who mistrust of Wall Street excess after the 2008 financial collapse that was also based on greed."

Like anything Scorsese does I'm excited to see how this new flick turns out. Do you think this is one of those film that will blow up at the Oscars?

Here's the detailed description of the book:

By day he made thousands of dollars a minute. By night he spent it as fast as he could, on drugs, sex, and international globe-trotting. From the binge that sank a 170-foot motor yacht, crashed a Gulfstream jet, and ran up a $700,000 hotel tab, to the wife and kids who waited for him at home, and the fast-talking, hard-partying young stockbrokers who called him king and did his bidding, here, in his own inimitable words, is the story of the ill-fated genius they called…

In the 1990s Jordan Belfort, former kingpin of the notorious investment firm Stratton Oakmont, became one of the most infamous names in American finance: a brilliant, conniving stock-chopper who led his merry mob on a wild ride out of the canyons of Wall Street and into a massive office on Long Island. Now, in this astounding and hilarious tell-all autobiography, Belfort narrates a story of greed, power, and excess no one could invent.

Reputedly the prototype for the film Boiler Room, Stratton Oakmont turned microcap investing into a wickedly lucrative game as Belfort’s hyped-up, coked-out brokers browbeat clients into stock buys that were guaranteed to earn obscene profits–for the house. But an insatiable appetite for debauchery, questionable tactics, and a fateful partnership with a breakout shoe designer named Steve Madden would land Belfort on both sides of the law and into a harrowing darkness all his own.

From the stormy relationship Belfort shared with his model-wife as they ran a madcap household that included two young children, a full-time staff of twenty-two, a pair of bodyguards, and hidden cameras everywhere—even as the SEC and FBI zeroed in on them—to the unbridled hedonism of his office life, here is the extraordinary story of an ordinary guy who went from hustling Italian ices at sixteen to making hundreds of millions. Until it all came crashing down…

Here's the full press release making the announcment:

Los Angeles, CA – April 19, 2012 – Martin Scorsese will direct “The Wolf of Wall Street” starring Leonardo DiCraprio. The deal, which brings Scorsese and DiCaprio together for their fifth feature collaboration, was made official today.

Red Granite Pictures owns the rights to Jordan Belfort’s best-selling memoir The Wolf of Wall Street, on which the film is based. Red Granite principals Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland are producing along with Leonardo DiCaprio (Appian Way), Martin Scorsese and Emma Koskoff (Sikelia Productions) and Alexandra Milchan (EMJAG Productions). Irwin Winkler and Georgia Kacandes will executive produce.

Leonardo DiCaprio will star as Jordan Belfort – the ‘Wolf of Wall Street.’

Terence Winter (“The Sopranos,” “Boardwalk Empire”) adapted the screenplay, which chronicles Belfort’s dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life, which included drug and alcohol addiction.

“Everything about this film plays to Martin Scorsese’s genius and visionary storytelling, said Riza Aziz. “At its heart, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ is about the rise of new ‘modern’ gangsters in New York. Wall Street gangsters that redefined excess, greed and arrogance. We’re excited to see Mr. Scorsese take the reins of this visceral, tumultuous ride.”

“All of us at Appian Way are thrilled to collaborate, once again, with Martin Scorsese,” said Jennifer Killoran, partner in Appian Way. “With Martin’s unique vision and our partnership with Red Granite Pictures and EMJAG, we are excited to bring this story to film.”

Production on “The Wolf of Wall Street” is slated to begin in August in New York.

With a celebrated career now spanning six decades, Martin Scorsese is one of the most influential filmmakers in cinema history. Scorsese has also made a number of ground-breaking documentaries including celebrated music films “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan,” “Shine a Light” and “George Harrison: Living in the Material World.”

He was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Director seven times before earning one in 2007 for The Departed. Scorsese’s additional awards and honors include the Golden Lion from the Venice Film Festival (1995), the AFI Life Achievement Award (1997), the Honoree at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 25th Gala Tribute (1998), the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award (2003), The Kennedy Center Honors (2007) and the HFPA Cecil B. DeMille Award (2010).

Scorsese is the founder and chair of The Film Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of motion picture history. In 2007 Scorsese launched the World Cinema Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of neglected films from around the world, with special attention paid to those developing countries lacking the financial and technical resources to do the work themselves. Scorsese is the founder and chair.

Martin Scorsese is represented by WME and manager Rick Yorn. Yorn also represents Leonardo DiCaprio. David Boyle of Red Granite Pictures negotiated both Scorsese and DiCaprio’s deal on behalf of the company while Channing Johnson of Loeb & Loeb oversaw the book and script rights acquisition for Red Granite.

I thought this was awesomely funny. It's no surprise that Jason would go on a killing rampage spilling the blood of the innocent in a simple game that supposed to be fun. The picture also shows that Jason isn't afraid to kill off little kids as there's some dead children mixed into the bloody carnage.

I honestly don't know why anyone would do this, but for some reason this guy thought it would be awesome to get a giant Star Wars tattoo with aspects of the film melting and dripping on each other. Iron Man And X-Men Animes Bring Loads Of Action To DVD

So recently I had a chance to review these wonderful anime interpretations of two of Marvel's biggest franchises X-Men and Iron Man. The series premiered on G4 and set to hit shelves next Tuesday. For those who are fans of the anime drawing style, this is a must watch. The visuals are always stunning and the fight scenes are everything you could want and more. While the X-men side tends to be a tad more graphic, Iron Man makes up for it with lots of gadgetry and explosions.

Both plot lines take place in the land of the rising sun as the mutants are there investigating a block in Cerebro in the northern region, and Tony Stark is promoting free nuclear energy to the region and a new prototype Iron Man. The dialogue has it's ups and downs, but in the end you really won't notice it between the fights and the animated stylings of the Funimation designers behind the DVD.

Those who aren't privy to Japanese or subtitles however need a disclaimer. Make sure to change your language settings before playing the episodes as they do not default on English! That being said, I noticed there were at times dialogue differences between the two. Sometimes you would read something that wasn't in the English translation and vice versa. It's really interesting to me, and I have to question why it was done.

The special features are pretty telling as well, with interviews from creators of both shows and additional animes Marvel has created. I highly recommend getting both, but if you're strained for cash and can only afford one then go with X-Men. Great watch though all around.

2 New BATTLESHIP Clips one shows us Aliens Face

Universal Pictures has released a couple of clips from Peter Berg's sci-fi action film Battleship. These are shorter versions of clips that were shown this year at WonderCon 2012. This first clip shows Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna and a few others investigating one of the alien creatures that they just took down. The clip gives us a look at the aliens face, as well as a sample of Rihanna's acting skills, which is exactly what you'd expect it to be like. I'm not going to see the movie to see her act though, I'm going because as a whole it looks like it will entertain me.

Here's the Synopsis:

Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

The cast also includes Liam Neeson, Stellan Skarsgard, and Brooklyn Decker. Battleship hits theaters on May 18th, 2012. I'm just curious, have you ever seen or at least thought you saw a UFO? Because I have.

Movie Trailer for the Quirky Romantic Comedy RUBY SPARKS

Fox Searchlight Picture has released the first trailer for their fun looking romantic comedy Ruby Sparks. The movie comes from the directors of Little Miss Sunshine and stars Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Elliott Gould, and Steve Coogan.

Ruby Sparks tells the interesting quirky strange story of a young writer who starts to fall in love with a woman that he's created for a story he's writing. One day the woman he created in his mind and on paper becomes a reality.

The movie's got a great cast, and from what I see in the trailer it looks like it will be a solidly fun movie to watch.

Here's the Synopsis:

Calvin (Paul Dano) is a young novelist who achieved phenomenal success early in his career but is now struggling with his writing - as well as his romantic life. Finally, he makes a breakthrough and creates a character named Ruby who inspires him. When Calvin finds Ruby (Zoe Kazan), in the flesh, sitting on his couch about a week later, he is completely flabbergasted that his words have turned into a living, breathing person.

The movie will be released in theaters on July 25th, 2012. Watch the trailer and let us know if it's something you might enjoy watching.

Charlize Theron to Star in Rupert Wyatt's Sci-Fi Film AGENT 13

Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is prepping up to shoot his next movie. It's a sci-fi action thriller called Agent 13, and Charlize Theron is attached to star in the T.S. Nowlin scripted film. Theron is on a roll with starting in these genre flicks, her upcoming films include Snow White and the Huntsman and Prometheus. She must be enjoying making these kinds of films if she's willing to jump on board another one.

As of right now there are no details on what Agent 13 will be about, but Sony Pictures, Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox are all trying to get their hands on it. Whatever the story entails, it must be good if all the major studios want in on the action.

Theron is a fantastic actress that seems to get better and better every time I see her in a movie. She was awesome in Jason Reitman's Young Adult, and it looks like she's going to be great in her next two films. As for Wyatt, I loved what he did with Rise of the Apes, and I've been looking forward to see what he does next.

I can't wait to see what this movie turns out to be. What's you favorite Charlize Theorn movie?

Theron is coming off strong reviews for her perf in Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody's "Young Adult." She next stars in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" and Rupert Sanders' "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Wyatt recently directed "Rise of the Apes," which grossed $481 million worldwide.

Nowlin is writing "Wild Guns" for Gianni Nunnari's Hollywood Gang Prods.

WME reps Theron, Nowlin and Wyatt, who is also repped by Independent Talent Group.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld Talks About MEN IN BLACK 3's "Surprising Ending"

$
0
0

Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld recently gave an interview to MTV and shed some light on the upcoming sequel, out in theaters May 25th, 2012. For those of you who are trying to go into this movie completely cold, avoiding all of the trailers, plot, and story elements, you probably shouldn't have clicked on this article in the first place, but beware - some of what follows may be considered slightly spoiler-ish.

On how this whole movie was Will Smith's idea:

I think the important thing is to have a new, different story to tell. We didn't want another regular caper where some alien just comes down to threaten Earth, and the Men in Black have to solve it. The big idea — and it was actually Will's idea, while we were shooting "Men in Black 2" one night for an exterior shot. He said to me, "Barry, for 'Men in Black 3,' Agent J needs to go back in time to save Tommy Lee Jones' [character] from some event that's happened decades earlier. He needs to learn something about Tommy's character that he didn't know before." That was the genesis. Ten years later, we're about to come out and show the world what that meant.

On what actually happens in the movie:

What happens, actually, is [Agent J] gets arrested by Agent K — now Josh Brolin — in 1969. The second and third act is all about tracking down Boris [Jemaine Clement's villain character] and Will renewing his friendship with a different K than the K he knows from 40 years in the future. What's really cool is that J is constantly wondering why this guy who seems sort of open and happy became the sort of curmudgeon that has been his partner for the last 14 years. He makes a discovery about that. So, "Men in Black 3" is by far the most emotional of the movies. It has a really surprising ending.

On the rumors of behind the scenes problems with the script:

First of all, I don't know that I've ever been on a shoot thatwasn't stressful for the director. I think all movies are stressful in different ways. What was reported on this one was that we took a several-months hiatus to work on the script. As it relates to that, that concept was built into the shooting schedule. We wanted the next movie Will Smith was in after a long time where he wasn't in movies to be "Men in Black 3." We also wanted to shoot in New York, which had a tax incentive that was about to expire. It didn't expire, but we didn't know it wasn't going to expire, because New York state legislature had to vote it in again, and we weren't sure that was going to happen. So we started the movie with a full script and with a really great first act — but the second and third needed work. We built in a two-month hiatus so we could continue working on the script and not need an eight-week reshoot. So that's what we did. The truth is, the great thing about the movie, is that there was no stress between myself and any of the actors. We all got along very well. You don't ever want a director and a movie star who see two different movies. But we all were working with the same ideas in mind. We knew the characters, we knew the history, and we were very much in sync.

You can read much more with Sonnenfeld about the movie in the full interview at MTV.

I'm going to be truthful with you guys, because that's what this site is about: I don't care at all about Men in Black 3. I know it's a "geeky" movie and I'm "supposed" to be interested in it, but the last movie came out almost ten years ago and even THAT one was unnecessary as far as I'm concerned. Is anyone interested in seeing this film, and do you like what you've seen so far?

THE HUNGER GAMES sequel CATCHING FIRE to be Directed by Francis Lawrence

$

It looks like Lionsgate has chosen their director to replace Gary Ross for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. The weight of the film has fallen on the shoulders of  I Am Legend and Constantine director Francis Lawrence, but he wasn't the studios first choice.

According to Deadline they originally wanted Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) to do it, but he ended up not being able to. They then went to Moneyball director Bennett Miller, but because of a previous directing gig he needed the production of the film to be pushed back to be able do it. Lionsgate wouldn't push it back because they want to get the movie into production this coming August. Lawrence was their third choice, and his schedule is wide open. He can get started on the project right away and that was important to the studio.

The main reason Lionsgate is trying to rush the sequel into production is because the film's star, Jennifer Lawrence, is also wanted for the sequel to X-Men: First Class. If Fox wanted to, they could enforce an option for the actress to make the second film. Lionsgate wants to get their film into production before something like that happens.

The last movie that Lawrence made was Water For Elephants. He hasn't made any terrible films in his career, which began with directing music videos. For the most part, I've enjoyed what he's done, and I think he'll end up doing a fine job adapting Catching Fire for the big screen. In the end, I don't think it matters who directs the film, fans are still going to flock to see the movie. What are your thought's on Lawrence directing the movie?

THE COLONY - First Image from the Sci-Fi Thriller

Here's our first look at the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller The Colony, which stars Laurence Fishburne, Bill Paxton and Kevin Zegers. It's a small image, I know, but it gives us an idea of what the setting and tone of the film will be.

Here's the synopsis:

Beneath the icy surface, survivors of Colony Seven struggle as food supplies dwindle and temperatures continue to drop.

Plagued by illness and internal conflict, the colonists suspect the worst when they mysteriously lose contact with Colony Five - the only other known settlement. Sam, a strong-willed mechanic with a tragic past, joins a team headed up by Briggs on a dangerous expedition to find out what happened.  After a hellish trek, they discover a threat much worse than imagined, and now Colony Seven must win a savage battle to preserve the last of humanity.

Jeff Renfro wrote and directed the film. The story sounds decent, and it has a solid cast, so The Colony might actually turn out to be a pretty decent movie. I'll watch anything with Fishburne or Paxton in it, they tend to pick good, fun projects.

Penelope Cruz Looking For Role in Ridley Scott's THE COUNSELOR

The Counselor, Ridley Scott's follow-up to his much-buzzed-about Prometheus could wind up being even more heavily discussed than the Alien prequel as we head into next year. The project features the a script written by Cormac McCarthy himself, a man whose novels No Country for Old Men and The Road have been turned into high profile films in recent years.

The movie stars Michael Fassbender as a Southwestern lawyer who tries to dabble in the drug trade, but he soon realizes that there's no such thing when he finds himself in over his head and in some very dangerous situations. Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt are co-starring, and now The Hollywood Reporter is saying that their real life lovers are vying for the same part.

A few days ago, it was reported that Angelina Jolie was in talks for Fassbender's mysterious love interest in the movie, but now THR is saying that Penelope Cruz has been having discussions about scooping up the part. We'll have to wait and see which one walks away with it, but either way, audiences win: both Jolie and Cruz are great actresses and will absolutely add an A-list presence to what is already shaping up to be one of the most impressive casts of the year.

If Jolie gets the part, it will mark the first time she's co-starred with Pitt since Mr. and Mrs. Smith back in 2005. If Cruz snags it, she'll reunite on screen with Bardem for the first time since Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2008.
