Fan-Made SUICIDE SQUAD Movie Trailer

There’s been a lot of buzz building for director David Ayer’s big screen adaptation of DC Comics' Suicide Squad, especially with that amazing all star cast that consists of Will Smith as Deadshot; Tom Hardy as Rick Flag; Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn; Jared Leto as the Joker; Jai Courtney as Boomerang; and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.

This is a team of imprisoned supervillains who are tasked with taking on high-risk missions for the U.S. Government in exchange for commuted sentences. The team is run by Dr. Amanda Waller, and their operation is run out of Belle Reve penitentiary.

To pump up the excitement even more, Alex Luthor created this awesome fan-made trailer using footage from several other films with the actors who have been cast to play these crazy characters. He did a pretty good job, so I hope you enjoy!

I'm not sure who did the photoshop fan art above, but I came across it on Twitter.

12 MONKEYS Featurette Shows How SyFy Series Is Different From Film

0
0

For those of you who are interested in the upcoming 12 Monkeys series on the SyFy Channel, the network has released a new featurette called “Cole's Relationship With Cassie.” If you couldn't tell from the title, it focuses on the relationship between Cole and Cassie, but in the process they break down the story and lay out how this version that we see in the series is different from the Terry Gilliam-directed film.

The show stars Aaron Standford (X2: X-Men United) as Cole and follows the character as he travels from 2043 to the present day so that he can locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race. While on his mission, he teams up with Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) as well as a female mental patient named Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire).

I loved the movie, and this series looks intriguing, so I’ll give it a go. Here’s the synopsis.

12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveler, Cole, from the post-apocalyptic future. Using a dangerous and untested method of time travel, Cole arrives in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate 93.6% of the human race. Will Cole be able to save the fate of mankind or is mankind bound by fate? Taking place in the ravaged future of 2043 and the present day (2015), 12 Monkeys explores themes of destiny, fate, love and the possibility of second chances.

The new series will premiere on January 16th, 2015.

Stephen Colbert Dressed as Bilbo, Gandalf and Legolas in EW HOBBIT Covers

As I'm sure many of you already know, Stephen Colbert is an epically huge superfan of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth stories and Peter Jackson's big screen adaptations of them. As a way to help give Colbert closure since the franchise is coming to an end with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Entertainment Weekly has issued three special covers featuring Colbert hilariously dressed as Bilbo, Gandalf, and Legolas. This is what the comedian told to the magazine about his Hobbit fandom:

“Tolkien’s work has been a lifelong haven for me—truly a light in dark places when all other lights went out. For an awkward teenager, Middle-earth was a world I could escape to. Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth also gave me a world to escape to, but by the time his films came out, I was rich and famous and didn’t really want to escape my life anymore. Still, great movies.”

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be released on December 17th.

Iron Man Fan Art and Animation Features a New Kind of Villain

Damn! You guys have got to check out this Iron Man art and animation featuring a new kind of villain for the superhero to take on. I freakin' love these badass character designs, and this enemy looks insanely menacing. The stuff you see here comes from artist Oscar Perez Ayala, and this is what he said about his creations:

I have been working in a new character design. I thought it was kind of cool the idea of coming up with some character based on Iron Man superhero but in a 100% improvising modelling session. I thought it could be like a new Iron Man's foe. Both sculptures are purely conceptual. I didn't work much on technical side and that allowed me to quickly iterate and have quick feedback. I have uploaded the two sculptures and textures to Gumroad, you can get it from there if you can. Cheers.

You will find a couple brief animated videos below the images.

Sony Wants a 21 JUMP STREET and MEN IN BLACK Crossover Movie

0
0

There is so much interesting stuff pouring out of that Sony Pictures e-mail hack. Earlier today we shared some stuff involving what the studio is planning to do with Spider-Man and that Marvel wanted to include Spidey in Captain America: Civil War. You can read more about that here

The Wall Street Journal has been going through all of these leaked e-mails and pointing out some of the craziness that is going on over at the studio. One of the more ridiculous things that I've seen is that they are actually planning to make a 21 Jump Street and Men in Black crossover film! Seriously?! I don't even know what to say about that. I think the idea is completely absurd, but at the same time I kind of like it because of how wacky it is. Seeing Schmidt and Jenko on a case that involved aliens?! Why the hell not? I can only imagine some of the other insane ideas that they've had. That's even crazier than the sequel spoofs that were teased during the end credits sequence of 22 Jump Street

They even found a quote from an email from actor Jonah Hill supporting the suggestion saying, “jump street merging with mib i think that’s clean and rad and powerful [sic].” They go so far as to say that this is "one of the highest profile projects on the studio’s slate," and that they even wanted to get it in theaters by 2016 or 2017.

The report went on to share a few other details, like how Men In Black franchise stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones "would not be included in the movie, at least in prominent roles." They also tease that Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller would produce this mash up event, and "may direct it." Hell, if they direct it we know the movie will be hilarious.

Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but it's something that we could very well see sometime in the future. Hannah Minghella, a president of production for Sony’s Columbia Pictures label said, “We don’t have a script yet so we’ll be greenlighting the movie off the concept and the talent involved.”

I'm really curious to see how this all comes together. I guess they'll be looking at how fans respond to the idea now that it's all over the internet. I say do it!

Watch Stan Lee and Kevin Smith Discuss Marvel Comics History

0
0

The Hammer Museum recently hosted an event in honor of the new Taschen book 75 Years of Marvel: From the Golden Age to the Silver ScreenDuring the event, comic book legends Stan Lee and Roy Thomas talked with filmmaker Kevin Smith about the history of Marvel Comics. It's really great to listen to these guys talk about comic books and the superheroes that we all love. One of the more interesting parts of the interview, though, is when Lee talked about a multi-studio Marvel superhero crossover film:

"It’s something that Marvel is very concerned about. It’s very difficult to bring ‘em all together because these characters are so successful and make so much money that the studios that have the rights don’t want to let them go. So that’s something that all the lawyers and all the production companies have to work out. Whether they get it worked out, I don’t know."

We know now that Marvel actually did try with Sony Pictures to bring back Spider-Man, but things didn't pan out the way Marvel had hoped. Which means we'll be getting more of what Sony has been giving us with the character. Unfortunately, even though Marvel is trying, it doesn't seem like the other studio is going to budge.

This is still a good conversation to watch, though, so check it out!

Pixar's INSIDE OUT Has a Fantastic New Full Trailer

Pixar is one of the few studios out there that have almost perfected the art of storytelling. Everyone seems to love their films, and their upcoming flick Inside Out looks absolutely amazing. We've got an entertaining new full trailer for you to watch today that gives us a better look at the story for the film and also offers up some great new footage.

The movie was directed by Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc., Up), and it offers the audience a unique story that focuses on the many emotions that live inside each and every one of us. I love watching these emotions interact with each other while controlling the people they inhabit. Here's a description of the story that the studio released:

"Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school."

The wonderful looking film is set to be released on June 19th, 2015! I can't wait!

Brotherhood Workshop has released three more amusing stop-motion LEGO parody sketches for The Hobbit. The first shows us how things should have gone down when Bilbo revealed himself to Smaug. The second gives us one theory as to why Saruman the White went bad. The third is believed to be a fair criticism of Azog's battle plan that will take place in the upcoming final film in the saga.

"Oh what a day! What a lovely day!"

Holy crap, guys! We've got a new full trailer for George Miller’s highly anticipated film Max Max: Fury Road and it delivers an adrenaline shot of pure badassery! That, my friends, is the best drug on the market. And you know what? We're giving it out for free with this trailer that you are about to watch. If you're still reading this I don't know why. Just watch the trailer already and get your fix! You guys don't even know the awesomeness that awaits you. It's better than the Star Wars trailer!

The movie stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron as they embark on a large-scale chase sequence, which takes place over the course of the whole film. The insane looking film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hugh Keays-Byrne, and Nathan Jones. Here's the synopsis:

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.”

Mad Max: Fury Road opens on May 15th, 2015.

From Pilot To Midseason Finale, THE FLASH Has Been Better Than ARROW

0
0

From beginning to end, The Flash has secured its spot as the best superhero series on television, and I strongly stand by that. Last night sealed it with two showdowns between the "man in the yellow suit," the official appearance of another hero, and a twist that threw both casual and comic fans of the series. It was crazy. It was awesome. And it left me wanting more all at the same time. Unfortunately, many of you were probably too busy watching the finale of Sons of Anarchy to notice, and that's cool, but you should watch it now before I spoil anything.

It's hard to mention Flash, however, without bringing up the big brother series that led to it, Arrow. At the beginning of both seasons I would've said Flash would eventually reach Arrow's quality. Now, the day of the Arrow finale, I would say the quality is better on The Flash, if not dead even in the eyes of most fans. Why is that though? I believe Oliver Queen said it best in the crossover episode when he said to Barry Allen, "This isn't Central City".

It's true the shows are in some different places. Starling has had two terrorist attacks in the past three years on its people, while Central City is largely unaware of the super humans spiraling through their city. That being said, I love the direction the writers have taken The Flash so far. It's a breath of fresh air to be introduced to a hero who truly believes in hope and isn't shrouded in darkness like the past 15 years have shown us. Barry Allen is the first hero we've seen in 20 years to wear the darkness of his past with everything but a scowl on his face. He laughs, he cries, and he's just as much himself outside the suit as he is in. Hats off to Grant Gustin for revealing a lingering problem I've had with all actors playing heroes over the years.

It's a bad trait that when the mask goes on actors jump into a different persona. Gustin doesn't Jekyll and Hyde the role like other actors have done with their heroes. Whatever Barry Allen is feeling The Flash is feeling, and that to me really helps with the immersion of the show. It's a strength that Arrow has lacked in this season. This is in no way a slam on Stephen Amell (I love him as the Arrow) but rather on the writing staff. Arrow has always had a strange disconnect between plot and action. Between flashbacks, current bad guy, and side story element. I feel the show has struggled to find a blend due to the fact that there is just so much going on.

Remember that the writers of Arrow are trying to blend all these elements together:

  • Sarah is dead
  • Diggle is a dad
  • Brandon Routh is going to be the Atom
  • Laurel is training with Wildcat to become Black Canary
  • The League of Assassins is coming
  • Thea is a bad ass and dating a club DJ
  • Malcolm Merlyn is still around

And let's not forget we still have to cover Hong Kong flashbacks, villain of the week, and whatever romantic tension is going on between Oliver and Felicity. It's a full story with a lot to go on, but it needs to be better organized. I feel like this season I've been thrown a lot of open doors with not a lot of closing going on.

The Flash, on the other hand, literally closed out every mystery the show had to that point in the mid season finale. It answered everything at once and then basically said "now that you know what's happening, we know you'll come back." Instead of a cliffhanger it was like they led us to the cliff and then told us we need to jump if we want more.

In my mind, Flash won the superhero series this round. I know I'm being completely unfair, as I am writing this hours before the Arrow mid season finale. I just have this intuitive confidence that it won't outshine The Flash. But if it does, expect a full retraction of my above statement.

Jakub Ignarski has released a new video that wraps up a fantastic year in film in a nice six-minute video he calls "Cinematic Retrospective 2014." I'm so happy with what this year had to offer in terms of film, everything else in my life seemed like a complete mess! Thanks to these movies, though, I was able to escape real life for a few hours at a time. Ignarski did a great job editing this movie montage together, and this is what he said in a statement:

"That was another a fantastic year of movies. I can admit, this year was better than last (2013). We could watch a lot of great Movies like: Snowpiercer, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Enemy, Gone Girl, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Lego Movie, Whiplash, Foxcather, Edge of Tomorrow or Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and my favourite so far Boyhood!. Of course these are only an examples of good movies from this year. Even a Marvel movies (I'm not a fan) this year were the best of their universe, I'm talking about Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the best Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy :) So Enjoy my new video celebrating this fantastic year of Movies!"

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy listening to Quentin Tarantino talk. The guy is a storyteller, and he’s very animated, so it always entertains me listening to him talk about the films that he has made.

We have an hour-and-a-half conversation between Tarantino and director Robert Rodriguez that you can watch below. These two talents have been friends for two decades, which is around the same time that they broke out as directors to keep an eye on with Reservoir Dogs and El Mariachi. Over the years they’ve collaborated on certain projects like Grindhouse, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Sin City.

This is a really interesting conversation for anyone who is a fan of Tarantino and his work, so check it out below!

Silly New Trailer for HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2

Paramount Pictures and MGM have released a new trailer and poster for the zany looking comedy Hot Tub Time Machine 2. The sequel is easily going to be even more absurd than the first film, and that's perfect for these kinds of comedies! The more ridiculous they are the more their target audience will enjoy them. I had a blast watching the first movie. I enjoyed it for what is was and I'll do the same thing with this sequel.

In the sequel, when Lou (Rob Corddry) finds himself in trouble, Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future. Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past….which is really the present.

The movie was directed by Steve Pink, and also stars Adam Scott, Chevy Chase, and Gillian JacobsIt's set to open in theaters in February 20th, 2015

Marvel's Phase 3 Started in Last Night's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

0
0

Yesterday we learned that Avengers: Age of Ultron would have a big impact on where the story goes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We don't know in what way it will affect the series, but it's going to happen. It looks like there's a lot of stuff going on in S.H.I.E.L.D., and apparently it's all leading up to what happens in Phase 3 of Marvel's cinematic universe.

Executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen recently did an interview with Marvel.com. During the interview they talked about the Inhumans element being included, which will lead to Phase 3.

(SPOILERS directly below for anyone who did not watch the mid-season finale last night)

It was revealed that Skye (Chloe Bennet) is actually Daisy Johnson, also known as a character named Quake from the comics. It was also revealed that her father (Kyle MacLachlan) is really Calvin Zabo, who you might know as Mister Hyde.

Now on to what Whedon and Tancharoen had to say. Here's an excerpt from the interview:

Jed Whedon: There are parts of [The Origin of Quake and Hyde] that move away from the story in the comics, but partially that’s because we’d invented our own way [of getting there]. We also wanted it to be a surprise to the people who are familiar with the comics, but [it’s] also because we’re tying it to a larger world. [It’s] not just her origin story, it’s the origin story of a bigger, other world.
Marvel.com: And that is a somewhat “inhuman” world, you could say?
Whedon: It’s safe to say that.
Marvel.com: When did you hit upon the idea of introducing that Inhuman element into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time?
Maurissa Tancharoen: It’s been a property in the Marvel Universe that we’ve been interested in since the beginning. Our tagline when we began the show was “not all heroes are super,” and we wanted to focus on that and highlight that for the first season. Now as we move forward we’re diving deeper into the Marvel Universe, and it’s our way of exploring a whole new world that may be comprised of people who have special abilities. We think that’s going to open everything up for us.

So it seems that Skye is the first Inhuman that has been introduced into Marvel's cinematic world. I guess that means there's a chance she could end up in the Inhumans film set to be released in 2018. Who knows if the TV show will even still be around by then, though. So it's too early to tell. On top of that, so much craziness will happen between now and then. Anything can happen. One thing that is solid is that we now have humans with special genetically modified abilities.

There are two other characters that are set to be introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron that also could be described as having these special modified abilities: Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). It's fun looking for and finding the connections in this universe! This is obviously all part of the big picture story arcs that are coming. It's all leading to Phase 3, and it's going to be awesome seeing how all of these stories play out and seeing the connections that are made.

Honest Game Trailer for THE LAST OF US

Another Honest Game Trailer has been released by Smosh Games, and this one amusingly takes on the hit video game The Last of Us. To be completely honest with you, I bought this game to play when it first came out, and life got so crazy afterwards that I still haven't had a chance to play it. The damn thing is still in the packaging! I'll probably finally get around to it during Christmas time when work stuff slows down. Stupid responsibilities! This is a great Honest Trailer, though, and fans of the game are going to enjoy it for sure.

From the studio that for some reason isn't working on a next gen Jak and Daxter, comes a PlayStation exclusive so bleak it makes Killzone look like Kingdom Hearts - The Last of Us.

Tonight is the mid-season finale of Arrow, and the CW has released a behind-the-scenes featurette and three clips from it to prepare fans for the awesomeness that awaits us. It's been a great season up until this point, and it looks like the mid-season finale is going to be a strong episode. One of the clips includes a shirtless fight sequence! I'm sure the fangirls will love that! Here's the synopsis for the upcoming episode, which is called "The Climb."

RA’S AL GHUL GIVES OLIVER AN ULTIMATUM; DINAH LANCE PAYS LAUREL A VISIT — Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) returns to Starling City and tells Oliver (Stephen Amell) that her father, Ra’s al Ghul (guest star Matt Nable) has given Oliver 48 hours to find Sara’s killer or the League of Assassins will start killing the citizens of Starling City. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is stunned when her father (Paul Blackthorne) delivers a very special Christmas gift – her mother, Dinah (guest star Alex Kingston). Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) tries to make amends with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver sets a meeting with Ra’s al Ghul. Thor Freudenthal directed the episode written by Jake Coburn & Keto Shimizu (#309).

Sorry for the video that starts automatically. It's not my fault, I swear!

Marvel and Sony Spider-Man Deal Still Might be on the Table!

0
0
marvel-and-sony-spider-man-deal-still-might-be-on-the-table

We recently learned that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios were indeed in discussions about making a deal to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. Apparently Marvel was hoping to bring the superhero into Captain America: Civil War, and that they would produce a new trilogy of films together, but it was reported that things didn't work out and a deal died.

According to our friends at Latino-Review, though, it sounds like a deal is still alive and on the table, and that there is still room for negotiations! The site has an inside source that has offered them some interesting information. Here's what they report:

"I can report that the deal Sony finally rejected was NOT a Marvel trilogy of movies that Sony would have control over. Instead, it was a co-production deal where Marvel and Sony would split future Spider-Man film costs 60/40 (Marvel paying the larger part) while MARVEL retained control of the Spider-Man creative property with the potential to have him cross-over into Marvel’s Phase films, like an appearance in Captain America: Civil War."

They go on to say that the big bosses at Sony Japan are not happy with how things are going down. Not only with this whole email hacking situation, but also with how the Sony Pictures has handled the Spider-Man franchise. The site goes on to report,

"What I’m hearing from my little birds is that Sony, the parent company, views Sony Pictures’s handling of the Spider-Man property as disappointing. Sony wants to be all about 'quality' films (actual one-word quote, not air quotes), and the Amazing Spider-Man movies have not been that, nor have the rumors of future films in the franchise. Sony Japan thinks the Marvel deal for Spider-Man is still on the table and they want to renegotiate as a return to quality, the 60/40 split can be negotiated and Sony Entertainment’s October hard-line stance of wanting creative control is now mostly moot in the eyes of the higher-ups."

Damn! So the guys at the top who are actually running things still want to see a deal made between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. Sure, it may not happen in time for Captain America: Civil War, but it could happen in time for Avengers: Infinity War. How freakin' cool would it be if a deal was done in time? The site then goes to speculate the impossible:

"Wouldn’t it be neat if Sony’s 'Spidey summit' ended with a call to Marvel, who made a call to Joss Whedon, who got a guy in a Spider-Man suit from ASM 2 to jump into those pick-up shots they’re shooting early next year for Avengers: Age of Ultron?... The world would lose [its] shit"

As incredibly awesome as that scenario sounds, it seems like a fanboy and fangirl pipe-dream, a dream too insane to actually happen. But, we can always hope. There's no doubt that Marvel would definitely steer Spider-Man in the right direction if they were given the opportunity. So let's all take this time to send positive vibes out into the universe so that it will actually happen!

Indiana Jones vs Star Wars Ball Droid

0

Star Wars fans just don’t know where to channel all the excitement and energy “awakened” inside of them after watching the teaser trailer for J.J. AbramsStar Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s not just the dark and light side of the force that’s been awakened, though. The dark and light side of Star Wars super fandom has also reemerged. The dark side: that guy who already got a tattoo of that spherical droid, which may or may not turn out to be the Jar Jar Binks of the new trilogy. The light side: this video by Deviant Rahll that puts that same droid in place of the giant boulder that Indiana Jones must out run in the famous opening scene from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
