Andre the Giant Vs. Hulk Hogan in "The Main Event" Art by RBST

"The irresistible force meeting the immovable object!"

It's been a long time since I've watched wrestling, but when I was a kid I was really into it, and Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant were two of my favorites. I don't see a lot of wrestling fan art that features these wrestling stars, but I came across this one created by RBST. It brought back some great memories, and I included the video of the two champions fighting each other at Wrestlemania III. I completely forgot how overdramatic these fights were! I love it!

Help Doug Jones Kickstart a NOSFERATU Film Project!

One of my favorite vampires films of all time is the very first one ever made, 1922's F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, which features an insanely creepy vampire by the name of Count Orlock. Murnau originally wanted to make an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but the Stoker estate shut him down, so he basically made his own unauthorized version of the story. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to check it out. It’s a beautifully terrifying film.

Director David Lee Fisher wants to do what he calls a “remix” of the movie, which will star none other than Doug Jones, who you know from films such as Hellboy, The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Pan's Labyrinth, to play Count Orlack. According to Jones, this is a role that he has always wanted to play, and there’s no doubt that he would be amazing. He's definitely got some really cool make-up effects that were created for the character he'll be playing.

So in case you’re wondering what a movie remix is, watch the Kickstarter announcement video below. Basically, it involves digitally placing new actors in the place of the old actors into the original scenes of the original film. It also comes along with added dialogue, sound and music. Fisher did the same thing with the classic 1920 movie, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

I see the potential with this, and it could be completely awesome! It would also be great to see Jones fulfill his dream of playing this character. Check out the Kickstarter video below, and if you want to help fund the movie remix, click here!

Sean and Steph Mayo created this adorable baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy as a commission for Youtubers Beyond the Brick. It was part of a 24-hour livestream charity event that they ran over the weekend. I've seen a few LEGO Groots hit the internet over the last few months, but this is the best one that I've seen, so I thought I'd post it for you all to enjoy. It may not dance, but it's still way cool.

BETTER CALL SAUL Clip - Saul Meets Mike for the first Time

better-call-saul-clip-features-saul-meeting-mike-for-the-first-time

AMC has released a new promo clip from their upcoming Breaking Bad spinoff series, Better Call Saul. The clip is titled "No Parking," and it features Saul's first encounter with Mike Ehrmentraut (Jonathan Banks). I loved Mike on Breaking Bad, and it's good to see him back! It looks like the two started out with a really rocky relationship. I've also included a new promo that features Saul doing a little shredding.

Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman became Walter White’s lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is “fixer” Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “criminal lawyer.”

Bob Odenkirk is reprising his role as Saul, and the series  kicks off on AMC with a two-night premiere on Sunday, February 8th at 10pm and Monday, February 9th at 10pm. It will then air every Monday night.

Funny “Special Edition” Trailers for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Fans have created a couple of amusing parody trailers for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer for your viewing entertainment. There have been a lot of these things popping up on the internet since the official trailer was released, but these are two of my favorites. I’m also pretty sure we’re going to see a lot more of them.

The first trailer gives us a look at what it would look like with the George Lucas "Special Edition" overhaul. Basically it includes a ton of random CGI elements thrown into scenes where they don’t belong, and of course, it takes that crazy looking lightsaber to a whole new insane level.

The second trailer is called "Star Wars: The Phantom Awakens," and it splices together the audio from The Force Awakens with scenes from the 1999 film, The Phantom Menace. It just reminds us that amazingly awesome trailers can really hide the fact that some films are absolutely terrible.

I hope you enjoy these!

FROZEN Sequel Is in the Works

Idina Menzel, the actress who provided the voice of Elsa in Frozen, recently told the Guardian that a sequel to the hit animated film is currently in development at Disney. It’s no surprise that Disney is working on a sequel, especially after the first film was such a huge success.

When asked what she could say about the plans for an upcoming sequel and stage musical, all she would say was, "That they’re all in the works, ha ha!" As for whether or not she will be involved with the sequel, she said,

"Ah, yeah sure … Not the stage show — I don’t know what will happen with that — but the movie, hopefully. We'll see. I’m just going along for the ride."

Disney chairman Alan Horn said earlier this year that plans for a Frozen sequel had not yet been discussed. Sounds like that may have changed over the course of the last few months.

I don’t think Disney would make a Frozen sequel without Menzel. Everyone seemed to love the first movie, and it’s a fact that the huge fan base wants Disney to make the sequel. I imagine we'll see one in the next two or three years.

Edgar Wright Reveals His Top 10 Favorite Films of 2014

edgar-wright-reveals-his-top-10-favorite-films-of-2014

The end of the year is upon us, which means were going to start seeing a lot of Top 10 lists for 2014. We might as well start it off with a director that we all appreciate and admire — Edgar Wright. Just in case you need a reminder of what the director has done, there's Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, and Scott Pilgrim. He has a great list here, and a few of them will be on my own. I've included a quote from the director on why he likes each one. Thanks to Esquire.

Boyhood

"How could anyone be unmoved by this film? It felt like several lives flashing before my eyes and I left the cinema wondering if I had done everything I could with the last 12 years of my life."

Birdman

"This is one dazzling high-wire act of cinema. For 120 minutes, Birdman floats from comedy to surrealism to high drama to quiet brilliance. I felt so inspired by watching this movie. It reaches for the sky and never comes back down to earth."

The Grand Budapest Hotel

"Wes Anderson deserves an award for sheer persistence of vision. Nearly 20 years after his debut he makes possibly his best movie: a funny, emotional, beautiful bauble of a movie. One that is equally as impressive as it is enjoyable. That's no mean feat."

Snowpiercer

"Forgive the name-drop, but I told Chris Evans he had to do this movie, as director Bong Joon-ho is a favorite of mine. So imagine my delight when not only is it great, but he completely aces it in his most intense performance. With great action, savage satire, and horrific protein bars, it's a real ride of a movie."

Interstellar

"70 mm film projection. IMAX screen two stories high. Sweet-spot seats right in the middle. Hans Zimmer's cathedral of sound filling the theater. Dizzying deep-space drama. Achingly sad emotional rifts. Check. Check. Check. Chris Nolan's most personal movie is also the best argument for seeing films on a giant silver screen."

Nightcrawler

"It's been a year of great crime movies, but Jake Gyllenhaal's Lou Bloom slinks his way to the top without ever blinking his eyes. Surely the decade's creepiest tale of how to succeed in business, this film is a blackly funny, deadly satire on the media creatures who only come out at night in LA."

Under the Skin

"Hypnotic, unsettling, and haunting, Jonathan Glazer's arty science-fiction opus is one that hasn't left my thoughts eight months later. It's a testament to how incredible Scarlett Johansson is in the role that one of the world's most beautiful actresses can disappear into her part. A startling performance in a uniquely sinister film."

The LEGO Movie

"Don't do any sequels [Phil] Lord and [Christopher] Miller, you already outdid yourselves! What could have been such a shameless, corporate, brand-heavy, cash-grab of a movie becomes a truly inspired comic adventure about individualism, imagination, and the creative spirit. Five bricks out of five."

Whiplash

"My favorite horror movie of 2014. Well, J.K. Simmons is the great cinematic monster of the year, truly terrifying as the music tutor who pummels the puppyish Miles Teller into shape. Sweat and blood flies, hearts and spirits are broken, and yet all the while, you are tapping your foot to all that jazz. Superb."

Edge of Tomorrow

"This had a split personality of titles and taglines (LIVE! DIE! REPEAT! CRUISE! BLUNT!), but in truth it's the smartest movie of the summer. Forget the fact that the current title sounds like a daytime soap and revel instead in the breakneck pace, looping action, and brilliant editing."

What do you think of Wright's list? Are there any movies on here that are going to make your Top 10?

THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Going Back for “Kick-Ass” Reshoots

the-avengers-age-of-ultron-going-back-for-kick-ass-reshoots

It’s not uncommon for a film like The Avengers: Age of Ultron to go back for reshoots. Teh fact that they are doing this doesn’t mean that the movie is in trouble. It just means they’ve been editing the film, and along they way they’ve realized that there are some things they need to add to help the film and the story that they are trying to tell.

According to the Daily Mail, in this case, Joss Whedon is bringing back together Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Scarlett Johansson, and even Tom Hiddleston for whatever it is they are going to film. The site says that the movie, "needs a bit more kick-ass on an extravagant scale." So they are basically going back in to create even more awesomeness. Because from what we saw in the trailer, it doesn't look action-packed enough. Of course, there’s always the chance that they could be going back in to shoot a post credits scene.

The report also mentions that the two-part Avengers: Infinity War films will shoot back-to-back late next year at Pinewood UK. It’s going to be really interesting to see who comes in to direct those movies, because I don’t think that Whedon is coming back for it.

The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead ended with a pretty big downer. I'm not going to go into because I don't want to spoil it for you, in case you haven't seen it yet, but damn... it definitely made me shed a tear. Unfortunately, we have to wait until February until the series returns. AMC has released a promo that gives us a little look at what is to come. I've also included a couple behind-the-scenes videos for last night's episode, "Coda."

Awe-Inspiring Space Travel Sci-Fi Short - WANDERERS

Ever since I was a kid I felt the awe and wonder of space exploration, and it has always been reinvigorated when I see a movie based around that concept — a couple of the more recent films included Gravity and Interstellar. Today I want to share a short futuristic sci-fi film called "Wanderers" with you that celebrates the pure awesomeness of space travel. The short comes from Erik Wernquist, and it offers us a breathtaking glimpse at what it might be like when visiting other planets that reside in our own solar system.

What makes this short so cool is that all of the imagery used is based on real locations that are actually a part of our solar system. Slate mentions some of them, including: "Sunset on Mars. The weird ridge wrapped around Saturn’s moon Iapetus. The ice fields of Jupiter’s moon Europa. Even those cliff divers? Yup: that’s Uranus’s moon Miranda, with the highest cliffs known in the solar system."

Here’s the full description from the director:

"Wanderers is a vision of humanity's expansion into the Solar System, based on scientific ideas and concepts of what our future in space might look like, if it ever happens. The locations depicted in the film are digital recreations of actual places in the Solar System, built from real photos and map data where available.
"Without any apparent story, other than what you may fill in by yourself, the idea with the film is primarily to show a glimpse of the fantastic and beautiful nature that surrounds us on our neighboring worlds - and above all, how it might appear to us if we were there."

I really hope that you enjoy this spectacular film.

Confirmed: Teaser Trailer Voice for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Is Andy Serkis

When the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, many fans, including myself, had concluded that actor Benedict Cumberbatch or Max von Sydow was the mysterious voice heard. Collider tweeted early on that it was Andy Serkis. But today we've got confirmation from Good Morning America that it was Serkis.

The image tweeted looks to be from a forthcoming interview with Serkis. I'm still hoping that Cumberbatch is secretly involved in Star Wars because he would make a great Sith.

Extreme HARRY POTTER LARPing Greatness - Video

I'm not into LARPing (Live Action Role Playing), but I know people that are. From what I've seen, it looks like it could be a ton of fun. I just don't have the time to engulf myself in a fake world, when I'm just trying to get through the real one that I'm living in. I'm not sure how many of our readers enjoy LARPing, but if you're really into Harry Potter, then you've got to get your ass tp Poland. Why? Because The Czocha College of Wizardry is the closest thing you'll ever get to attending Hogwarts.

It offers a 3-day live-action role playing game that is set in a castle museum in Czocha, Poland. The game includes up to 180 players that make up the staff, students, ghosts, goblins and more. They just opened up registration for two game sessions in April. I have no idea how fast these spots will fill up. Larping.com has a great gallery of photos from a previous session of the game, and we've included a video that shows it off as well. It captures a "modest snapshot of the intense and prolific dramas, disasters and everyday life." This seriously looks like a blast!

Poster for CINDERELLA Features Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother

Disney has released a new poster for Kenneth Branagh's live-action adaptation of Cinderella. It features Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother and the two wicked stepsisters played by Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera. The movie looks really good. In case you missed the trailer for the movie, click here. I do have to say that Blanchett is the perfect actress to take on the role.

The story of Cinderella follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella's father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother's dying words and to "have courage and be kind." She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and -- armed with a pumpkin and a few mice -- changes Cinderella's life forever.

The movie will be released in theaters on March 13th, 2015.

STAR WARS Concept Artist Ralph McQuarrie Documentary - Tribute to a Master

star-wars-concept-artist-ralph-mcquarrie-documentary-tribute-to-a-master1

George Lucas may have been the brains that came up with the Star Wars universe, but it was concept artist Ralph McQuarrie that visualized it, and gave it that awesome look and feel that we all love. Without McQuarrie's vision and imagination, who knows what Star Wars could have ended up looking like. McQuarrie deserves a ridiculous amount of credit for the success of Star Wars. His influence on the original films are still inspiring the franchise! Just look at Star Wars Rebels and the teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

StarWars.com has released a wonderful 40-minute documentary that Star Wars fans have got to watch called, Ralph McQuarrie, Star Wars Concept Artist: Tribute to a Master. It's loaded with a lot of interesting stuff that I think you'll want to know. ILM's visual effects supervisor, Scott Farrar, had this to say about McQuarrie's involvement in the films:

The concepts they came up with were brilliant. Just brilliant. It helped every one up and down. Whether you were a model maker, a photographer, or a costumer, they broke new ground in ways nobody else had. You look back at the work, even at this point, and it holds up. There's lots of movies and lots of pieces of art that don't hold up past five years. We're talking shots and designs and things 25 or 30 years or more and they hold up as beautifully now as they did then. Now that's genius.

Here's a brief synopsis for the doc:

Ralph McQuarrie, concept artist of the original Star Wars trilogy, was essential in bringing the characters, ships, and locales of a galaxy far, far away to life. In this special retrospective, Star Wars creator George Lucas, Industrial Light & Magic effects legend Dennis Muren, and many others discuss the impact of McQuarrie, his artistic gifts, and his legacy.

Now watch it for yourself!

Heart-Pounding Trailer for EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS - “Ready Yourselves”

Another trailer has been released for Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings, and it’s intense. The trailer features some new visually stunning footage, and I’m really pumped up see it all play out on the big screen. I hope it ends up being one of the director's great films.

The movie stars Christian Bale as Moses, Joel Edgerton as Ramses, with Aaron Paul, John Turturro, and Sigourney Weaver. And what would a film like this be without the great Ben Kingsley

The story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

Exodus: Gods and Kings opens in theaters on December 12th.

Thanos is going to end up playing a huge role in the Marvel cinematic universe, and it's all going to escalate into the two-part Avengers: Infinity Wars storyline. Thanos is a great character, and the Marvel cinematic universe hasn't even scratched the surface on his story. I can't wait to see what they actually pull from his mythology for these movies.

Netflix has released a brief teaser trailer for House of Cards Season 3, and they have announced that the premiere date will be February 27th, 2015. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright will be back to reprise their roles, and things are going to get even more intense. This is such a great series, and if you haven't watched the first two seasons yet, it's not too late!

This Emmy-winning original thriller series stars Kevin Spacey as ruthless, cunning Congressman Francis Underwood, who will stop at nothing to conquer the halls of power in Washington D.C. His secret weapon: his gorgeous, ambitious, and equally conniving wife Claire (Golden Globe winner Robin Wright).

If you're not caught up on the series, this little tease does feature a pretty big SPOILER that I want to talk about, but won't, just in case. If you've seen the show, then you know what I'm talking about.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Returning for KICKBOXER Reboot, Plus Poster

$

jean-claude-van-damme-returning-for-kickboxer-reboot

The Kickboxer movie reboot is still moving forward and we have a bit of good news and bad news. Let's start off with the good: Jean-Claude Van Damme is set to return to the franchise! The bad news: Thai martial arts star Tony Jaa (Ong Bak, Furious 7) had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Van Damme is taking Jaa's place, and in this version of the story Van Damme is the master, not the student. He will play an updated version of the original film’s Master Chow.

The actor joins Alain Moussi (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), and George St. Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

The reboot is being directed by Stephen Fung, who is known for films such as Tai Chi Zero and Tai Chi Hero. The story follows Kurt Sloan (Moussi), "a talented martial artist who travels to Thailand where he must learn the secrets of the kickboxer to avenge his brother's death at the hands of Tong Po (Bautista)."

Producer Ted Field of Radar Films had this to say in a statement:

"We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation."

I think it's cool that Van Damme will be in the film, but it would have been a lot cooler had he reprised his role from the original film. Regardless, the movie has a pretty kick-ass cast, and I'm curious to see how it turns out.
