Matt Smith Will Battle Zombies in PATIENT ZERO

Doctor Who star Matt Smith seems to enjoy making movies with zombies in them. He’s currently playing the role of Mr. Collins in the feature film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and now he’s been cast as the lead in a new zombie movie called Patient Zero. Smith will star opposite Natalie Dormer in Screen Gem’s film production.

According to Deadline, the story centers on an “unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies [which] has resulted in the evolution of a new species driven by violence. An inexplicably immune human survivor with the ability to communicate with this new species must spearhead a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity.”

Smith has been busy since he left Doctor Who. He’s a part of Ryan Gosling’s dark fantasy feature Lost River and will appear alongside Emilia Clarke in the upcoming Terminator: Genisys. I do really miss him as The Doctor, though.

Patient Zero sounds like it will be a fun genre feature worth checking out. It’s set to be directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky from a script written by Mike Le.

Here’s a fun CG animated short film by Digital Light Studio called "Steam Speed 5D." It features a steam train race through a desert canyon. It's really an entertaining and fast paced short that I think you'll get a kick out of.

Only the best of the best race steam trains have reached the final. Red Arrow accepts a challenge of Iron Shark. Black villain is ready to do everything just to get to the finish line first. But his opponent is brave and courageous.

Keep your hands and arms inside the train, because this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!

GAME OF THRONES Season 5 Teaser - "The Sight"

HBO has released a very brief teaser trailer for the fifth season of Game of Thrones. It seems to put the focus on the character Arya Stark. It features her waking from dreams or visions of her killing Rorge and handing over the Faceless Man's coin to book passage at the end of Season 4. We get a glimpse of her father’s sword, which is now melted down, and that's followed by a shot of some doors. Perhaps this is the entrance to the House of Black and White?

In addition to the video, a new viral site called ThreeEyedRaven.com has launched, which allows you to sign up for "visions of the future." I imagine that we'll see a few more teasers released in the near future.

The 2014 Doctor Who Christmas Special title has been revealed to be "Last Christmas." Upon reading the title, the Wham! song of the same name is now playing in my head (and maybe yours). Is this title a hint at this being Jenna Coleman's (Clara Oswald) last episode? I hope it's not, I really like the dynamic she has with Peter Capaldi (The Doctor).

Doctor Who "Last Christmas" will air Christmas.

Whoa! Check out this fully functional, classic 1980s style Nintendo video game controller coffee table! It was created by Logan Miller of MillerWoodshop. How awesome would it be to have your friends over to play a little old-school NES with a giant controller like this? It's available for purchase on Miller’s Etsy store for $1300, and it comes equipped with a built-in retractable cable for plugging into any original NES console.

This table was built to scale with the original NES controller. This fully functional controller’s buttons have been tuned up for easy play. A heavy coat of clear polyurethane has been added to protect the table from scratches or rings from a glass. It’s a great item for children and adults. The NES coffee table has a modern style and a retro feel. It also comes with 6 spacers that have matching gray paint and gray felt on top and bottom of the cylinder shaped spacers.

So is $1300 worth an oversized NES controller? It might just be.

Guillermo del Toro's DARK UNIVERSE Script Turned into Warner Bros.

We've been hearing about Guillermo del Toro's Justice League Dark film project for years, and I'm happy to report that there is still movement on it! Del Toro has been very busy with his new horror film Crimson Peak and has started working on Pacific Rim 2, but according to Forbes the screenplay for Justice League Dark has been completed! They also report that, as of yesterday, it was turned into the studio to read over Thanksgiving weekend.

The movie is tentatively titled Dark Universe as previously reported, and it will be a movie that stands on its own, meaning that it will not be a part of the rest of the DC cinematic universe that is being set up by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. So don't expect it to crossover with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and others.

If the studio executives have a positive reaction to the script, then they will obviously take it to the next stage of development. If they don't, then it will probably just die. I really hope Del Toro gave them something that they can't say no to. Just because it wasn't announced in the studio superhero movie line-up doesn't mean it's not going to happen.

The story has been said to include characters such as Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine a.k.a. Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, and Sargon, as well as Etrigan the Demon.

I have another steampunk inspired Iron Man illustration for your viewing enjoyment. This one comes from artist Aleksandr Nikonov. You can check out the giant steampunk mech robot art we posted a few days ago here. This latest piece is very playful, and I especially like how he is eyeing Thor's hammer. That steampunk armor of his won't do him any good if he's looking to pick it up.

We've got a delightful short animated trailer for you to check out today that was made to promote some of our favorite classic 1980s sci-fi films. It was created by Francesco Baiocchi for the European sci-fi cable channel AXN. It was done in the style of a 80s style side-scrolling video game, and some of the films that are featured in the promo include Ghostbusters II, The NeverEnding Story, Short Circuit and even My Stepmother is an Alien. The result is pretty radical.

Remember the '80s? Remember those amazing Arcade video games? As we had to create a weekly stunt to promote different movies from the 80s' we decided to celebrate that fabulous decade using one of its most recognizable look and design.

Tomorrow Disney and Lucasfilm are going to release the first teaser trailer for the long awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The trailer will be released in select theaters as well as online. So if you can't make it to a movie theater that is showing it, make sure to check back here because we'll get it on the site for you as soon as we can.

While we wait for the trailer to hit, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at all of the teaser trailers that were released for the six previous Star Wars movies. It's really interesting to watch these things and see how they've evolved over the years. I have to say that The Empire Strikes Back is definitely the most unique as it mostly features concept art that was created for the film.

Along the way she uses a bow of fire and battle a huge dragon with the sting instrument. It was recently reported that Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs film project has moved from Sony Pictures to Universal Studios. Michael Fassbender is still in the running to take on the role of Jobs, and now Deadline reports that Natalie Portman has been cast in the movie.

There's no information on who she will be playing, but there's a good chance that she will be playing Jobs' daughter, Lisa Bennan-Jobs, in the story. Steve Jobs initially denied his paternity of Lisa, but did name one of Apple’s earliest computers after her, the Apple Lisa. The father and daughter reconnected years later and Jobs ended up paying for her to attend Harvard University, which was around the same time that Portman was going to school there.

In an interview with The Independent, writer Aaron Sorkin he explained that Lisa who be the hero of the film saying:

"With The Social Network, I was interested in the psychology of the world's most successful social networking system being invented by the world's most anti-social guy. And in the case of Steve Jobs, it's the relationships he had — particularly with his daughter, Lisa — that drew me to it. She didn't participate in Walter Isaacson's book, because her father was alive at the time, and she didn't want to alienate either of her parents, so I was very grateful that she was willing to spend time with me. She is the heroine of the movie."

That being said, I think it's safe to say that is who Portman will be playing. The actress recently finished shooting Jane Got a Gun

Trailer for the Horror Thriller THE PYRAMID

fun-trailer-for-the-horror-thriller-the-pyramid

We’ve got another found-footage horror film being released called The Pyramid, and this trailer makes it look like it’s going to be a lot of fun. The last found-footage horror movie I saw was As Above, So Below and I really liked it. I can enjoy a decent found-footage flick, but I think these kinds of films would be so much better if they were shot in the traditional movie style. The Pyramid seems like a really fun concept, and it comes from director Gregory Levasseur and produced by Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D, The Hills Have Eyes, Horns). Here’s the synopsis:

The ancient wonders of the world have long cursed explorers who’ve dared to uncover their secrets. But a team of U.S. archaeologists gets more than they bargained for when they discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. As they unlock the horrific secrets buried within, they realize they aren’t just trapped, they are being hunted.

The movie stars Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O’Hare, and Christa-Marie Nicola. FOX plans on releasing the movie on December 5th.

20th Century Fox has released entertaining red-band and green-band trailers for the upcoming Vince Vaughn comedy Unfinished Business. The actor re-teamed with Delivery Man director Ken Scott to bring us this new flick that looks funny. This seems like the kind of film that will provide some great entertainment for audiences.

"Vaughn plays a hard-working small business owner who, along with his two associates, played by Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins, Michael Clayton) and Dave Franco (Neighbors, Now You See Me), travel to Europe to close the most important deal of their lives. But what began as a routine business trip goes off the rails in every imaginable – and unimaginable – way, including unplanned stops at a massive sex fetish event and a global economic summit."

The movie will be released in theaters March 6th, 2015, and it also stars James Marsden (X-Men, The Best of Me), Sienna Miller (Stardust, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, The World’s End).
