SLEEPY HOLLOW: Fall Finale "The Akeda" — Photos and Promo

Sleepy Hollow has been an interesting show to watch. The premise of the series seems like it would fall apart after a few episodes. Thankfully, Tom Mison (Ichabod Crane) and Nicole Beharie (Abbie Mills) have great on-screen chemistry and make some of the absurd dialogue feel meaningful.

In the second season, we've seen the show take some huge leaps and mix in new characters without "jumping the shark." The fall finale is coming Monday, December 1st, and the episode is titled "The Akeda." We've got a few photos and a promo of what's to come.

Watch a Full Semi-Truck Jump Over a Formula 1 Race Car

This post isn't really geeky in nature, but it's so insane I had to share it. Someone had the bright idea of taking a semi-truck with a trailer jumping it over a Formula 1 race car, while both of them are running at full speed. With Lives and money as risk, this crazy idea is now a world-record with an 83 foot and 7 inch jump completed with trailer intact. Because you're basically destroying a semi-truck, I'm guessing it's a record that will be uncontested for a while.

Mike Ryan and Martin Ivanov are the stunt drivers who pulled off the feat. I'm not sure what drugs the EMC and Lotus F1 marketing team are on but I'm guessing is a hallucinogen.

Ridley Scott Is Not Directing BLADE RUNNER 2

$

We've been hearing all along that Ridley Scott would be coming back to direct Blade Runner 2, but today I bring you some sad news. Scott will not be directing the Blade Runner sequel, and I'm really bummed out by this. Him directing the movie was one of the only reasons I was so excited about it.

Scott will still produce the film, and a new director will fill Scott's directing chair. The plan is to shoot the movie in 2015. As for whether or not Harrison Ford will be a part of the sequel, Scott says we can expect to see the actor, but it will only be in the film’s third act. According to Scott, the story is about “finding him.” Him, as in Ford's character, Deckard.

This is what the director had to say about the film in an interview with Variety :

We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one. Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.

The report then adds the following disappointing bit of information:

Per Scott, that Alcon Entertainment production should go before the cameras within the next year, but with someone else directing (he’ll produce).

There's no word on who might take Scott's place, but I hope that it's someone that will spark some excitement back in me, because after hearing this news, it has fizzled out.

Honest Trailer for LOVE ACTUALLY

Long before Andrew Lincoln started crushing zombie skulls on The Walking Dead, he was crushing on his best friend’s wife in Love Actually. Screenwriter Richard Curtis’ directorial debut featured a fantastic ensemble cast of established actors and many (then) unknowns who would go on to greater fame, like Lincoln. It also had multiple plot lines that (sorta) intersected and deliciously cheesy clichés. All of those elements were lazily lifted in the rip off film Valentine’s Day and its sequel New Year’s Eve. Of those three holiday set romantic comedies, only Love Actually is worth revisiting, which you can do in a fraction of the time by just watching Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailer for it below.

Side Note: If you haven’t seen Curtis’ latest directorial effort, About Time, you need to sit down and watch that, stat! It’s one of the best time travel movies to date. I’m being dead serious, actually.

Robert Kirkman Reveals His Biggest WALKING DEAD Regret

$

The Walking Dead has been an absolute pleasure to watch over the last few years. I’m a die hard fan who has enjoyed every episode that has been released. Sure, some are better than others, but they have all provided some awesome, intense entertainment.

In a recent interview with THRWalking Dead creator Robert Kirkman reveals his biggest regret on the series so far, and it took place at the end of Season One.

"If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have done the CDC episode [at the end of season one].”

That is the episode where CDC doctor Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich) reveals to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) that everyone is already infected. It possibly gave away too much information and was such a big change very early on in the series.

In the comic book, Rick and his posse don’t learn that everyone is infected until after Tyreese's daughter, Julie, is killed in what was supposed to be a joint suicide pact with boyfriend Chris. It’s that moment that she comes back from the dead without a zombie bite, that Rick puts everything together. Kirkman continued,

"I feel like there might have been a better way to wrap up the first season. It ended up being a fun episode. I love the character of Dr. Jenner and thought Noah did an amazing job. But there were things in that episode that I think seem very much not of The Walking Dead world."

At the time, no one was really sure if the series was going to be as huge of a hit as it has become. So it makes sense that they would have switched things up a bit to grab the attention of the viewer in the first season. The writer went on to say,

"I probably would have changed that stuff. I’ve been careful in the comic series to not say what's happening in other parts of the world. It's something that's going to be fun to explore in the spinoff series. But the fact that France is mentioned in that episode and other things like that, I probably would have steered away from that stuff if I had to do it all over again."

The reason he brings up the French is that their scientists didn’t leave their lab during the outbreak, so they might be on the road to helping find some kind of cure. There’s still not a lot of information on what the upcoming spinoff series will entail, but rumor has it that it’s a prequel that takes place in the early days of the outbreak in other parts of the world.

He also said that Daryl (Norman Reedus) is one of the best changes to the Walking Dead universe, and he also likes how Carol (Melissa McBridehas developed in the series.

"Carol was extremely different in the comic and I was attempting to tell a completely different story with that character than what we ended up doing on the show. Carol in the comic and Carol on the show couldn't be more different. I'm really proud of the evolution that that character has gone through. It's one of the best parts of the show. Melissa McBride's performance is absolutely amazing. More than any other character, Carol has evolved in leaps and bounds. You go back to the first season and it's almost like a different actress is playing that character because she's so different. It's been a really remarkable transformation in a show about transformation. That's been a great and welcome change."

As far as Kirkman’s big regret goes, the way it ended up playing out in the series didn’t bother me at all, so it’s not really a big deal to me. I had a bigger issue with the way the most recent episode ended, though.

Kids React to AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Trailer

The Fine Bros. gathered a small group of kids to watch the trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron for the first time. The kids had no idea what they were going to see, and their reactions while they are watching this awesome trailer are priceless. There’s excitement, horror, and a couple of kids that just don’t give a crap. I love watching the reactions of my own kids when I show them these kinds of trailers. They're big superhero fans just like me, and I’m doing my best to raise them to be the best movie geeks they could possibly be.

The trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was one of the most exciting trailers I’ve seen this year. Now, enjoy the reactions of these kids as they experience it for the first time.

Guillermo del Toro Offers Details on PACIFIC RIM 2

Pacific Rim was such an insanely cool movie, and I couldn't be happier that Legendary Pictures and Guillermo del Toro are moving forward with a sequel. During an interview with Collider, the director talked a little bit about the sequel saying that it takes place a couple of years after where the first movie left off, and says that Charlie Day and Burn Gorman will return to reprise their roles. Here's what he had to say about the timeframe:

"It’s a few years after the first one. It’s not an immediate follow-up. It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after – what happens to the Jaeger technology once the Kaiju are not a threat. It’s quite a jump."

He went on to reveal who he thinks the two main characters will be saying,

"It’s quite a different movie from the first one in that, but I think that two of our main characters like in the first one are Burn and Charlie. They are really, really – I mean, honestly, they are probably the guys I have the most fun writing along with Hannibal Chau so just from a purely selfish drive, I like writing them. I love writing for Charlie and Burn. I mean, [Burn's] in Crimson Peak for that reason, because I love working with him. You’re gonna get a lot of that, but the Kaijus are very different and you’re gonna see a very different type of the robots [sic] I think. It’s gonna be quite a different adventure."

Day previously talked about the character saying that he was originally supposed to be a villain in the sequel, but I doubt that will happen, and so does Day, who said,

“I remember when I first met with him [Del Toro] that he liked the idea of Newt becoming a bit of a villain in the second film...But, I think over the course of making the film, and the way the character resonated with the audience, I don’t think he would want to turn him into a villain now, but I really have no idea.”

I loved Day's character in Pacific Rim, and it will be fun to see him back in the sequel, whether he's a villain or not.

BIG HERO 6 - End Credits Scene with Stan Lee Featurette

The end credits scene for Big Hero 6 has found its way online in a featurette featuring Stan Lee talking about the film. As you know, Lee was introduced in the film as Fred's dad in a family portrait. The video also includes a little bit of the end credits sequence that I will explain below.

For those of you who haven't seen the end credits scene yet, here's a brief description.

After the credits roll a potential sequel is set up, and as it turns out, Stan Lee may play a bigger part in the story. Fred, who is played by T.J. Miller, walks into his house missing his family. As he explained in the movie, they are always away on their special island. He walks over to the family portrait with Lee as his dad and touches it. When he does this, a secret door opens up and Fred walks in. It is there that he finds out his parents are superheroes. At that moment his dad, who is voiced by Lee, walks in and tells him they share the same attitude when it comes to laundry. They hug and the scene ends with Fred's dad telling him they have a lot to talk about.

You get a little glimpse of this scene in the video below thanks to Mashable. It would be so cool to see Fred's dad have a larger role in a sequel (if Disney plans on making one).

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman Tease SHERLOCK Special in Photo

The game is afoot! The BBC has officially revealed their plans for the return of Sherlock in a new special that they will be developing. They released the photo above featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as John Watson. What makes this photo so intriguing is the way they are dressed in period clothing. No reason is given to why that is, but it’s a fun tease of what could come. It came with the following caption: "#221back #Sherlock #notkidding".

Currently known only as “Sherlock Special,” the upcoming episode is being written by series creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, and it will supposedly air in late 2015 as a Christmas special. An image of the script they are working one was shared on Facebook, and Freeman teased it in an interview with The Mirror, in which he said,

“Steven and Mark have had a great idea [for] what they can do next, and it is an exciting, mouth watering idea… “

A fourth series is also expected to go into production in 2015, which will then air in 2016. Specific plans have yet to be revealed.

Trailer for "Flash Vs. Arrow" Crossover Episode!

The first promo trailer for the "Flash Vs. Arrow" crossover episode has been released, and it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun for fans to watch. It definitely seems like a gimmick to boost their ratings, but there's no doubt it's going to pay off and provide some great entertainment.

Both of these shows are great, and I actually hope to see them crossover with each other more in the future. The Flash will kickoff the first of a two part storyline, and we will see these two heroes at odds with each other. The episode is described as follows:

Barry is thrilled when Oliver, Felicity and Diggle come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he’d like to help him stop Ray Bivolo (guest star Patrick Sabongui), the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn’t go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris is furious when Eddie tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a new team in S.T.A.R. Labs.

The episode was directed by Glen Winter with a story by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. It's set to air December 2nd.

Watch 2-Hours of Original STAR WARS Deleted Scenes and Alternate Footage

For all you Star Wars fans who have a couple of hours to kill today, I suggest you check out these two videos that feature about two hours of deleted scenes and alternate footage from George Lucas' original Star Wars Trilogy.

This footage was all edited together as a fan-made documentary film by Garrett Gilchrist. He calls it Star Wars: Deleted Magic. There's a ton of stuff here that I've never ever seen before, and there's a pretty good chance most of you haven't seen either.  Here's what the creator of the doc said:

Deleted Magic is a feature-length documentary about the deleted scenes of the Star Wars trilogy, and about how the movies we know and love were made and edited together. It is taken from information, sources and home videos officially released by Lucasfilm. This project is not an official Lucasfilm project - it is an unofficial, not-for-profit research project, done in the spirit of fun by a Star Wars fan to be both informative and entertaining.
The idea is to combine all sorts of alternate, deleted and making-of footage into a full-length film that gives a better view of how the film we know as Star Wars was edited together. In addition to deleted scenes like the Biggs Darklighter material, you'll get a sense of the "Lost Cuts" of the films ... the longer edits that didn't have finished voices or effects.

This is definitely a must watch for any fan of Star Wars! Enjoy the footage!

YouTuber Ray Straight created this brilliantly fun fan video featuring Game  of Thrones mashed together with Pokemon. It's basically like an opening title sequence for Pokemon using footage from Game of Thrones, and it's as perfect as it could possibly be. It appropriately focuses on the character Daenerys and her dragons. A big thanks to GT reader Shawn for sending this in, I'm sure it will make lots of fans happy!

James Cameron on AVATAR Sequels - "They’re gonna be bitchin’"

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, director James Cameron discussed his upcoming Avatar sequels. He started off by hilariously describing what will happen to us when we see these movies:

“I can tell you one thing about them. They’re gonna be bitchin’. You will shit yourself with your mouth wide open.”

I thought that last part of the comment was ridiculously amazing. I hope that's a line of dialogue in one of the movies. The director also spoke about other aspects of the film, such as the frame rate, and planning the story out with his writing team. There were early rumors of Cameron shooting the movies in 60fps, but Cameron ended up going with 48fps, which is what Peter Jackson shot his Hobbit movies in.

“My thinking at the time was that 60 [FPS] might be a better segue to the video market. I’ll be plugging into a system that’s a little more mature, so it makes sense for me to do 48 frames at this point.”

As for working on the scripts, Cameron has divided two of them across a writing team that consists of Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno. He went on to explain a little bit of their process:

“I think we met for seven months and we whiteboarded out every scene in every film together, and I didn’t assign each writer which film they were going to work on until the last day. I knew if I assigned them their scripts ahead of time, they’d tune out every time we were talking about the other movie.”

Cameron then revealed that Peter Jackson and his writing team, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, made a significant contribution to Avatar.

“When Neytiri is holding Jake and she’s just brought him back to consciousness, the 'I see you' line was suggested by them. It might have been Peter who said that.”

In the end, I'm just excited about watching a movie that will make me shit myself with my mouth wide open!

STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE Opening Crawl Before Brian De Palma Edited it

The opening crawl is an iconic part of Star Wars. The idea is something George Lucas borrowed from the Buck Rogers film serials. Lucas showed the script to his friend Brian De Palma, who edited the opening crawl into what we know today. The copy is much clearer and I'm glad De Palma was involved to make some great changes.

"Give me a farfetched theatrical plot any day."

Matthew Vaughn's upcoming action spy thriller Kingsman: The Secret Service looks so freakin' awesome! We've got a brand spankin' new UK trailer for you to watch today that is loaded with all kinds of fun new footage to enjoy, as well as five character posters. I love how over-the-top the action looks in this movie. Vaughn loves playing with that kind of stuff in his films, so I wouldn't expect to see anything less.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

The movie comes out in theaters on February 13th, 2015! Thanks to Empire for the trailer and IMDb for the posters. The movie stars Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Director James Gunn Offers Advice to Aspiring Filmmakers

$

Breaking into the movie business is no easy task. It takes a ridiculous amount of hard work, patience and perseverance. I've wanted to make movies since I was a little kid, and it's something that I am still constantly working at. Being a filmmaker is a dream that I will never give up on, it's just one of those passions that I have that is a part of who I am. I know a lot of you out there feel the exact same way.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn recently offered some advice for all of us who are looking to break into the film industry. I won't lie, some of the things he says can be discouraging, but for me it's all stuff I knew about before I decided to go down the road I did. At the same time, the advice he gives is encouraging because, for many of us, it means we're on the right track.

This is what Gunn had to say:

"I get tons of people who want to be directors, actors, or writers asking me for advice here. Here's some short form advice:

"Remember that it takes ten years or so to become a doctor. Entertainment is a far more competitive field than medicine - and, if you're really focused on mastering your craft, it can be just as complex. So expect it to take at least ten years of hard work at the expense of a regular life to simply be competent and perhaps begin to make a living at it. And, even then, sadly, only an extremely small percentage of people are able to do so.

"If you find that too daunting, consider working in another field. If you don't find it daunting at all, consider therapy. Considering your sense of reality, you've got bigger problems than your career goals.

"However, if you find that daunting, but still have the need or desire to continue, well, that's at least one place to start. I wish you not only luck, but strength, perseverance, heart, and talent.

"And, before you start, there are of course lots of exceptions to the ten year rule (or, as Malcom Gladwell talks about in his book Outliers, the 10,000-hours-of-work rule). But that also takes a great amount of luck, something we don't have much control over other than putting ourselves out there as much as possible."

Imagination-Fueled Japanese Anime Short - PLAYGROUND

I've got an amazingly fun an imaginative Japanese animated short for you to watch called Playground. This is truly a spectacular film that pits two kids against each other as they battle over who has the bigger imagination. The short comes from Ryosuke Oshiro, and this is a very rough translation of what he had to say about the film:

"School, home, always lonely hero. It was just always seen in a long distance friendship. One day, the luck I think I'll make a "town" own in a vacant lot that I found on the way home of the school, and begin to draw a blueprint on the wall. At that time, a boy was approaching. The boy started the hero of Manet, gradually developed into a quarrel. Is it a heck does that mean and friendship."

Please take the time to watch this short, as it's wonderful, sweet, and beautifully animated.

SUPERGIRL Series to be Set in the Same Universe as ARROW and THE FLASH

Just because Supergirl will be airing on CBS and not The CW, it doesn't mean that Supergirl won't share the same TV universe as Arrow and The Flash.  KSiteTV pointed out  an interesting bit of information in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. It indicates that the three shows will still take place in the same universe and that a crossover between the three shows is a possibility! Here's what the magazine said:

"Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, [Greg] Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it's possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash."

Greg Berlanti is a producer on all three shows, so I would hope that it's possible, even if it is across two networks. Since Berlanti is developing these shows he would know better than anyone if there was a chance for a crossover. I'm really happy that this is the case, it will be really fun to see this TV universe grow. So maybe one day we'll see an "Arrow vs. Flash vs. Supergirl" crossover!

I really miss having new Harry Potter movie to see every year or so. I guess I'll just console myself with all the superhero and Star Wars movies coming out now. Acclaimed author of Harry Potter J.K. Rowling is writing the script for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which is based on a book in the Harry Potter universe. This marks Rowling's time as script writer.

Producer David Heyman (Harry Potter, Gravity) itold The Telegraph:

"Jo [Rowling] has written a wonderful script. It’s early stages. David Yates is directing and we start filming next year. I'm just really excited about it."

I'm really looking forward to the new movies and seeing the world of Harry Potter expand on screen.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 Officially Greenlit

Director Roland Emmerich has been developing an Independence Day sequel for a few years already, but it was finally officially greenlit by 20th Century Fox. The news comes from Deadline, which also reports that the film will go into production in May of 2015. The studio will release the movie on June 24th, 2016.

If you were hoping to see Will Smith reprise his role, don't hold your breath, because the site says it's not going to happen. While Emmerich was developing the movie with producer Dean Devlin, they had two scripts written. One of them included Smith's character, and the other one didn't.

The studio is currently in the process of negotiating with Emmerich to direct. They will start casting the movie after they lock Emmerich's deal into place. There was speculation at one point that we would see two films shot back-to-back, but Fox only greenlit one for now.

The first Independence Day was so fun and exciting when I first saw it back in 1996. I hope the sequel can capture that same magic.
