Blizzard's OVERWATCH - Adventurous 6 min Cinematic Trailer and Gameplay Trailer

$

Overwatch is Blizzard's first completely new game unattached to a previous title in 17 years. Overwatch seems to follow the same template as Team Fortress 2's multiplayer fun fest. Character types follow into categories like fighters, defenders, tanks, and support, each balanced against each other in a kind rock-paper-scissors dynamic.

The designs and the worlds look really amazing. As I was not at BlizzCon to test it, I've gauged reactions to the game on Twitter. Warcraft movie director Duncan Jones got a little hands on time with the game and tweeted the following:

The gameplay does look really fast paced and should please a lot of you FPS fans. Blizzard has focused on accessibility allowing the less hardcore gamer to still have fun. Blizzard released a six minute cinematic trailer that is a must watch, a six minute gameplay trailer, and 12 character gameplay videos.

Official game synopsis:

In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world. This organization, known as Overwatch, ended the crisis and helped maintain peace for a generation, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery.

After many years, Overwatch’s influence waned and it was eventually disbanded. Now in the wake of its dismantling, conflict is rising once again. Overwatch may be gone…but the world still needs heroes.

Jared Leto as The Joker in SUICIDE SQUAD?!

It sounds like Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are ready to reintroduce the Joker in their upcoming adaptation of Suicide Squad. According to THR, the studio is considering casting Jared Leto as the iconic DC villain! The actor won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club earlier this year. Leto has become a very talented actor, and I'm intrigued by the thought of him possibly taking on the role of The Joker in the David Ayer-directed movie.

jared-leto-as-the-joker-in-suicide-squad

There hasn't been any kind of casting confirmation for this movie yet, but Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, and Margot Robbie have all been rumored to be up for parts. It was also recently reported that English actress and model Cara Delevingne is up for the part of Harley Quinn. It would be so cool to finally see The Joker and Harley up on the big screen together. Will this be the movie that it actually happens in? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Leto did hint at a big role in an interview with THR in which he said:

"I do [have my eye on one project]. I am excited about what's happening. There are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going to be an exciting 2015. I've sworn to keep my mouth shut, but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure,"

Maybe this is it! Suicide Squad is about a group of supervillains who are given a chance to redeem themselves through dangerous missions that they are sent on by the government. The film is slated for release on August 5th, 2016.

What do you think about the possibility of Jared Leto playing the Joker in Suicide Squad?

Horrible Bosses 2 looks like an incredibly funny sequel, and I love the new cast members that they brought into the fold. Most notably Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine. As funny as Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis are, I think Pine and Waltz are going to steal the show. We've got a couple of funny clips for the film that you can check out today. The first is called "You're All Morons," and it features the three main character meeting Kevin Spacey in prison. The second clip is called "Group Therapy," and it includes a group therapy session with Bateman and Jennifer Aniston

Fed up with answering to higher-ups, Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to become their own bosses by launching their own business in the sequel. But a slick investor soon pulls the rug out from under them. Outplayed and desperate, and with no legal recourse, the three would-be entrepreneurs hatch a misguided plan to kidnap the investor's adult son and ransom him to regain control of their company.

Horrible Bosses 2 hits theaters on November 26th.

Story Details for Clive Barker's HELLRAISER Reboot

Back in 2013 it was revealed that Clive Barker would be writing the script for a reboot to his 1987 horror movie Hellraiser. We haven't heard much about the project since that news broke, but this reboot has been in development for years. If anyone is going to get it off the ground and into production, it's Barker. In an interview with EW the filmmaker revealed that he recently sent out a second draft of the script to Dimension films' chief Bib Weinstein. He also offered up a few details regarding the story, saying:

"I think the phrase is ‘reboot,’ although I’ve never really understood what that meant. I wanted to make sure we sounded some fresh notes. The movie actually begins on Devil’s Island. I wanted to fold into the Hellraiser narrative something about the guy—the Frenchman Lemarchand—who made the mysterious box, which raises Pinhead. I figured, ‘Well, what would have happened to him?’ He might well have been taken to Devil’s Island and I thought that would be a pretty cool place to start the movie. We’re waiting for Bob to come back to us and see when we’re going to actually make the movie."

I haven't watched the original Hellraiser in a very long time, but I do remember it. It's not a movie that's easy to forget! That thing is insane, and that's why I liked it. I'm normally not a fan of remakes or reboots, but when the original talent is involved with it, I think that makes a difference. Hopefully Barker can pull off the same magic that he was able to conjure the first time around.

Vintage Photos Show How to Act in a Movie Theater in 1912

Back in 1912, movie goers had a whole different set of issues to deal with when going to the movies. These days the big thing is cell phones. It still drives me nuts when someone busts out their phone to text or check their Facebook and Twitter feeds. It's not ok people!

We have a set of amusing vintage posters for you to check out from 1912 that illustrate some of the movie theater etiquette of the time. It seems like woman's hats were a big issue back in the day. The series of slides were projected onto screens during the era, and these were created by the New York firm of John D. Scott and Edward Van Altena.

The photos come from Backstory (Via The Film Stage), and they've also included a 1916 New York Times excerpt from a letter to an editor that discusses the movie going experience for audiences.

“It’s really a shame… so much time, thought, and money on these splendid productions of our New York theaters to have the whole effect spoiled by the untutored ‘enemies’ of their own house staff. The average usher from the movie house to the most exclusive temple of the drama seems to feel that the theatre is his private palace and we of the audience his ladies-in-waiting and his humble retainers and pensioners.”

I think a lot of us feel the exact same way today.

Nightmarish Trailer for the Horror Film STARRY EYES

We've got a trailer for an interesting and strange looking horror film called Starry Eyes. The movie was written and directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer. It stars Alex Essoe, who plays a character named Sarah, an actress that lands the lead role in a horror feature. Things get really weird though when she is asked to do a lot more than what she expected, and she does it so she doesn't lose the gig. I really like the oddness of the trailer, it looks like a really intense and surreal movie.

Determined to make it as an actress in Hollywood, Sarah Walker spends her days working a dead-end job, enduring petty friendships and going on countless casting calls in hopes of catching her big break. After a series of strange auditions, Sarah lands the leading role in a new film from a mysterious production company. But with this opportunity comes bizarre ramifications that will transform her both mentally and physically into something beautiful... and altogether terrifying.

The movie also stars Noah Segan, Pat Healy, Amanda Fuller, Shane Coffer, and Fabianne Therese. It will be released on iTunes, VOD, and theaters on November 14th.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are teaming back up for a new comedy for Paramount Pictures called Daddy's Home. The two previously starred alongside each other in The Other Guys. They make a great comedic duo, and this will be a great project for them to take on.

The story follows "a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids."

The movie will be directed by Sean Ander (Horrible Bosses 2) from a script written by Brian Burns (Tammy, Get Hard). Adam Goodman, President of Paramount Film Group, had this to say in a statement:

“Will and Mark are the absolute perfect on-screen duo to take on this hilarious project. With Anders at the helm, and our partners Red Granite on-board, we are thrilled this movie is getting underway.”

Riza Aziz, Co-Chairman of Red Granite Pictures added,

“We're particularly excited not only to reunite with the wonderful Paramount team but to collaborate again with the comical genius of Sean Anders and John Morris, who we had the pleasure of working with on Dumb and Dumber To. And we are thrilled to partner with Will, Mark and Gary Sanchez. We look forward to an inspiring, hilarious adventure.”

I'm always up for an inspiring and hilarious comedic adventure, so bring it on!

If you haven't seen Disney's Big Hero 6 yet, make sure to check it out! It came out this weekend, and it's an action-packed adventure movie that you don't want to miss seeing on the big screen. I really loved this flick, and today I have a couple pieces of concept art to share with you that were created for the film by Ryan Lang.

The image above shows us an early concept painting that features a chase sequence through the subway with very different character designs for Baymax and Hiro. I actually really love the style of Baymax in this image. He's much more badass looking. The other image is called "Family Photo," and it includes Hiro and his cat.

Jake Gyllenhaal Reteams with Antoine Fuqua in THE MAN WHO MADE IT SNOW

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to reteam with Southpaw director, Antoine Fuqua, for a new drama called The Man Who Made It Snow. I don't know if you've seen Gyllenhaal's Nightcrawler yet, but he was incredible in that. The actor took his talents to a whole other level with the character he played in that. His performance definitely got me excited for whatever he did next.

This new project is being written by Michael Kingston and Brett Tabor, and the film is based on the true story of Max Mermelstein, "a Jewish hotel engineer, who transforms a small mom and pop drug organization into a billion-dollar enterprise known as the Medellin Cartel."

This role gives Gyllenhaal yet another edgy thriller to work within, and it has been proven that he and Fuqua make a solid filmmaking team.

Disney has released the first trailer their upcoming sports drama McFarland, USA. I've always enjoyed the sports movies that Disney has made over the years. The last one the studio released was Million Dollar Arm, which I thought was great. This next one that they are releasing focuses on the true story of a group of distance runners, and it has that inspirational feel that fans look for in these kinds of films.

The movie stars Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, Morgan Saylor, Martha Higareda, Michael Aguero, Sergio Avelar, Hector Duran, Rafael Martinez, Johnny Ortiz, Carlos Pratts, Ramiro Rodriguez, Danny Mora, Valente Rodriguez, Vanessa Martinez, and Chris Ellis. Here's the synopsis:

Inspired by the 1987 true story, McFarland, USA follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California's farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner), a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school. Coach White and the McFarland students have a lot to learn about each other but when White starts to realize the boys' exceptional running ability, things begin to change. Soon something beyond their physical gifts becomes apparent - the power of family relationships, their unwavering commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. With grit and determination, the unlikely band of runners eventually overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team but an enduring legacy as well. Along the way, Coach White realizes that his family finally found a place to call home and both he and his team achieve their own kind of American dream.

The movie hits theaters on February 20th, 2015.

"Marvel means only one thing: the sparks are back! A lot of sparks.

"Okay, here's a teaser poster for Captain America 3 movie which is gonna be based on the Civil War event. So, we'll have a fight between Iron Man and Cap. I went for a scene where the two superheroes confront each other (No idea how they are going to show this in the movie though. Sure it will be epic).

Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo are featured on the latest poster for director Bennett Miller's amazingly good looking movie Foxcatcher. The movie is based on the true story of the a tragic relationship between an eccentric multi-millionaire and two champion wrestlers. It also stars Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller, and Anthony Michael Hall. All of the actors seem to have given incredible performances. You can check out the trailer for the film here.  Here's a detailed synopsis.

When Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Tatum) is invited by wealthy heir John du Pont (Carell) to move on to the du Pont estate and help form a team to train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics at his new state-of-the-art training facility, Schultz jumps at the opportunity, hoping to focus on his training and finally step out of the shadow of his revered brother, Dave (Ruffalo). Driven by hidden needs, du Pont sees backing Schultz's bid for Gold and the chance to "coach" a world-class wrestling team as an opportunity to gain the elusive respect of his peers and, more importantly, his disapproving mother (Redgrave).

Flattered by the attention and entranced by du Pont's majestic world, Mark comes to see his benefactor as a father figure and grows increasingly dependent on him for approval. Though initially supportive, du Pont's mercurial personality turns and he begins to lure Mark into an unhealthy lifestyle that threatens to undermine his training. Soon du Pont's erratic behavior and cruel psychological game-play begin to erode the athlete's already shaky self-esteem. Meanwhile du Pont becomes fixated on Dave, who exudes the confidence both he and Mark lack, knowing that these are things even his money cannot buy. Fueled by du Pont's increasing paranoia and alienation from the brothers, the trio is propelled towards a tragedy no one could have foreseen.

Foxcatcher is being released by Sony Pictures Classics in theaters on November 14th.

Miles Teller is a young up-and-coming actor who has a very long and successful career ahead of him. He most recently starred in an amazing film called Whiplash, which you need to see if you haven't already. He also plays Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. The actor is now set to star in an indie film called The Only Living Boy in New York, which is being directed by The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb.

The script was written by Allan Loeb, and it tells the story of "a young man who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, but ends up becoming involved with the woman as well." Well, that's would be an incredibly awkward situation to find yourself in. The movie has been in development for awhile, but the director had to put it on hold so that he could focus on his Spider-Man movies.

Matt Damon to Star in Alexander Payne's DOWNSIZING

Matt Damon has landed an interesting role in Alexander Payne's next film that he calls Downsizing. The movie is described as a social satire in which "a guy realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself." So it looks like we're going to see a little Matt Damon up on the big screen. There aren't any more details on the story at this point, but the little bit I do know has sparked my interest.

Downsizing was scripted by Payne and Jim Taylor.  The two worked together on the Oscar winning screenplay for Sideways. They also wrote the script for the film About Schmidt. I'm a fan of the kind of films that Payne makes, which also includes Election, Descendants, and, most recently, Nebraska

This should be a fun project for Damon, who is also set to star in the Ridley Scott-directed film The Martian. He's also coming back for another installment of the Bourne franchise with director Paul Greengrass.

Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever movie actually exists and it will air on Lifetime. I'm sure some of you will even watch it because we're bound to have to some Grumpy Cat fans as readers. I personally don't get society's strange fascination with this whole Grumpy Cat thing, but that's the kind of society we live in today, folks. Here's the first trailer for the movie that features the voice of Aubrey Plaza as Grumpy Cat. The movie looks stupid as hell, and even the voice of Plaza can't save it. I posted the trailer, though, just in case some of you are curious.

Grumpy Cat "plays" a lonely feline who develops a sour outlook on life after living in a mall pet shop. Then, over the holidays, a 12-year-old girl named Chrystal (played by Megan Charpentier) enters the pet store and realizes she is the only one who can hear the cat talk. A friendship ensues. Through the adventures that follow, which include facing off against evil dognappers and saving her new friend's life, will Grumpy learn the true meaning of Christmas?

The movie will premiere on Lifetime on Saturday, November 29th.

Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn has added a new film project to his pipeline called The Neon Demon. The movie is described as a horror story that is set in Los Angeles, and it features a young female-led cast. The director was developing a film called I Walk With The Dead before this project came along, but according to Deadline, The Neon Demon will be his next project. When talking about the film, to Refn said,

“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.”

He’s looking to start shooting the film early next year with frequent collaborators Cliff Martinez (composer) and Matthew Norman (editor). Refn has proven to be an insane director that is capable of telling crazy surreal stories. There's no doubt that seeing a horror from the director will be a real terrifying treat.

Matt Damon Confirms Return to the BOURNE Franchise

matt-damon-confirms-return-to-the-bourne-franchise

About a month ago it was reported that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass would be returning for another Jason Bourne adventure. Damon has confirmed that he will be back to reprise his role in the action franchise and that Greengrass is also officially on board to direct. When he was asked about it by E! Online, the actor said,

"Yes, next year. It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

I thought the first three movies were awesome, and it’s great to see that these talents are teaming up again to tell a new story. I didn’t think it would happen, especially when Greengrass had this to say in a previous interview with Deadline last year:

"In the end I felt I had given it my all in two films I'm very proud of and didn't want to make another if I didn't believe it could be as good if not better. I couldn't come up with an idea, and the business reality of franchises is that when a studio has a Bourne, they're obliged to make one every couple of years. I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me. The best thing was to move on, have someone else come in and make their mark on it."

He must have come up with some kind of great idea since he has agreed to come back. Or maybe Universal Pictures made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Regardless of how the deal came together, it will be fun to see Bourne back in action.

Here’s a really cool Batman character design created by artist Po-Yang Liao. One of the things that I like most about it is the concept of Bruce Wayne taking some kind of capsule that organically transforms him into a crazy creepy-looking Batman. It kind of has a Donnie Darko bunny costume feel to it, especially the teeth. I’d like to see more concept designs of this character.

Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) has been on the rumored list of actors for David Ayer's Suicide Squad since the movie was officially announced. Collider is now reporting that the beautiful actress has been cast in the role of Harley Quinn in the film, which is freakin' awesome! I can totally see her in the role, and rocking that iconic Harley Quinn voice. There's no official confirmation, but the site who broke the news is a trusted source on this kind of info, so it has that going for it. I hope it's true, because I would absolutely love to see Robbie in the role.

margot-robbie-cast-as-harley-quinn-in-suicide-squad

Just a few days ago it was reported that Jared Leto might be cast as The Joker in the movie, which a lot of fans seemed happy about. Seeing Leto and Robbie working alongside each other as Joker and Harley could be insanely cool. It will be interesting to see how these characters are portrayed in the movie.

Quinn was introduced in Batman: The Animated Series and quickly became a fan favorite. Just this weekend I took my kids to Designer Con, and one of them saw a piece of Harley Quinn and blurted out to the artist, "That's my dads favorite girl villain!" She knows me too well.

Suicide Squad is about a group of supervillains who are given a chance to redeem themselves through dangerous missions that they are sent on by the government. The film is slated for release on August 5th, 2016.

What do you think about the possibility of Robbie taking on the role of Quinn?
