FAMILY GUY STAR WARS Trilogy Fan Posters

Artist Jacob Bills created a set of Family Guy Star Wars trilogy poster art. Over the years Family Guy has hilariously parodied the Star Wars films in three specials titled Blue Harvest, Something Something Something Dark Side, and It’s a Trap. The style of this art might look familiar to some of you, and that's because it was inspired by artist Tyler Stout. You can see his Star Wars posters here. Bills had this to say in a statement:

First off, let me thank everyone for all the kind words about the Family Guy posters I’ve been working on for the past few years. And you read that right, years… looking back at the first file it was finished in July 2012. Though it took me so long to finish these, seeing everyone enjoying them really makes all the time and effort I poured into them worthwhile.

So, again, let me say “Thank You” for all the kind words. I hope everyone enjoys these and I hope the next thing I do will be equally as impressive. Thinking to myself “Crap… what do I do next?!?”

These were part of a private commission so only a few were made. Four sets are being auctioned off for charity on ebay, though. All the proceeds of which are going to help a young girl with leukemia.

The Marvel event saw some crazy announcements for Phase 3, Black Panther being one of them. Over a year ago, Latino-Review said that Chadwick Boseman (42, Get on Up) would be cast as the Black Panther, and today that has been confirmed in a big way.

Boseman appeared on stage during the announcement of Captain America: Civil War. In the photos above, that's him in between Robert Downey Jr. and Chris EvansLatino-Review reports that Black Panther will have a big part in Civil War.

Disney Villains Parody OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" Song

Oh My Disney has released a fun music video featuring several of our favorite Disney villains doing a parody of OneRepublic's song, "Counting Stars." This version is called "Counting Scars," and in it, "Disney villain-loving teens ask themselves: is Scar the most evil Disney Villain?" I don't know why, but the guy who plays Hades in this thing creeps me the hell out. There's something not right about him.

FURIOUS 7 - New Poster and Video Tease

Universal Pictures has released a new poster for James Wan's Furious 7, which is the seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise. This one features a far off view of the gang from under a muscle car.

The first trailer for the movie will be released on Saturday, November 1st at 12pm PST, and it will be part of an interactive fan event that will be held by the studio. You can read more about that here. It looks like we won't get any information on the plot of the film until that trailer is released.

This movie went through some delays and challenges due to the passing of Paul Walker, but in memory of the actor they finished the film. I'm curious to see how they actually handled Walker's character in the movie. I'm sure it was with care.

The movie opens up in theaters on April 3rd, 2015, and I can't help but think it will be the best one yet. On top of Wan directing the film this time around, there is a lot of heart, love, and soul that went into completing it.

‘80s Cartoon Villains Catch Air in Art Series by Andy MacDonald

When the fate of the world or even the entire universe is at stake, you always hope the heroes will swoop in and save the day. But I think it’s totally kosher to root for the villains if the only thing at stake was, say, mmmm… bragging rights after a game of pickup basketball??? In this art series by Andy MacDonald, ‘80s cartoon villains show off their hops, take it to the rim, and just like a real game of pickup hoops, I imagine these villainous characters let things escalate and get out of hand quickly. With the height advantage, Megatron must play center. Cobra Commander is probably point guard with those ball handling skills he's putting on display with that under the leg dunk. And given the fact that Krang is lazily laying up the wrong object, they should have let him come in on the next game. "He's blowing it for us!!!!"

Thanks to Geek-Art for the behind the back pass!

Kevin Feige on How Marvel's CIVIL WAR Works Without SECRET IDENTITIES

There's lots of big Marvel movie news blowing up right now as the studio has officially announced nine movies that they are currently developing! Three of those films include Captain America: Civil War and their two part Avengers: Infinity War movies. During a brief Q&A after Marvel announced their big plans, /Film asked Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about Civil WarSecret Identities, and Spider-Man, and how they plan to pull it off in this story. This was Feige's reply:

"I don’t want to give too much away, but needless to say, the generalities of the act are the same. Something happens, perhaps it’s cumulative for things that have happened though all of the movies leading up to this point. It has made the governments of the world say 'we need to have some oversight of these guys. They need to report to somebody.' So it becomes more… it falls under that umbrella, rather than 'you have to take off your mask.' It’s not about the secret identity thing, as much as it is about, overall, who reports to who, and who can agree to oversight committee. Because as of now, in Avengers 2, there is no more security council, there is no SHIELD, obviously. Stark is paying for it, Captain America is running it, and things occur that will make governments begin to question."

As you can see, he completely bypasses the Spider-Man aspect of things. Spider-Man plays a big role in the comic story arc, and there have been rumors of Marvel being in talks with Sony Pictures about including the character in their movies. There's no word on if any of that is true, but it's out there.

As for everything else, Marvel seems to know what they are doing. They obviously have a plan in place with or without Spider-Man. I really love the direction they are taking in their cinematic universe. I have no idea where it will go, or how it will end, but I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride!

Freelance concept artist Serg Soul created this great character design for Batgirl. As you can see, it's got more of a slick and technological look to it than previous Batgirl designs that we've seen. The artist said that he wanted to do a version of Batgirl that would fit in with the current Batman films, and that it was inspired by the classic Batman Beyond cartoon. You can check out some similar Batman fan art here, which shows Batman in a tech style outfit.

specific-details-revealed-for-marvels-epic-movie-line-up-from-kevin-feige1

For you Marvel fans looking for some additional details on the upcoming slate of nine Marvel movies, we have some for you. We also have a 19-minute video of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige answering questions from the press (thanks to /Film). I've included points of interest underneath the corresponding film that they relate to.

Captain America: Civil War

  • Black Panther will first appear in Civil War, and he will be in full costume.
  • Black Panther is definitely a big part of Civil War story arc.
  • It’s not about secret identities like it is in the comics, it's more about who superheroes report to.

Black Panther

  • They’ve met with writer Reggie Hudlin (who worked on the Black Panther animated series), as well as several other writers.

Captain Marvel

  • They will be using the Carol Danvers alter-ego version of Captain Marvel in this adaptation.

Inhumans

  • Feige reveals that fans will be getting some Easter eggs sooner than we might expect.

He goes on to offer some additional details:

  • Hulk is going to show up in all of the Avengers movies, but another standalone film is still up in the air.
  • Black Widow will also be featured in Avengers movies, and she will not be getting solo movie — which is kind of a bummer. Apparently she’s “really important” in Age of Ultron and the future Avengers movies, though.
  • Black Panther’s nation of Wakanda will be in Age of Ultron.
  • Feige isn't ready to talk about any Phase 4 projects yet .
  • He stresses that anything that wasn’t revealed today is just a rumor until things are worked out. That would include the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch, who is in negotiations to star in Doctor Strange. It would also include all those Spider-Man rumors.

You can watch Feige discuss all of this stuff in the video below!

Three Fates of Mona Art Series by Orlando Arocena

3 Fates of Mona: Carrie White by Orlando Arocena

3 Fates of Mona: Carrie White by Orlando Arocena

The Mona Lisa, properly called La Giaconda, by Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most important paintings in the history of art. It is also probably the most parodied painting in the history of art. The most devastating take is L.H.O.O.Q. by Marcel Duchamp, but these horror inspired versions by Orlando Arocena are pretty great in their own right, and very seasonally appropriate. Arocena has repainted the famous merchant’s wife in the guise of three different horror villains. The title 3 Fates of Mona cheekily suggests that there is a killer in all of us, or really, three killers in all of us.

You can pick up prints here, here, and here. They are 17" x 24" hand signed giclee prints. Thanks to Poster Posse for the heads up.

Star Wars Book Trailer Gives Fascinating Look at Original Trilogy Costumes

Author Brandon Alinger was granted access to the Lucasfilm Archives at Skywalker Ranch to research and photograph the costumes from the original Star Wars trilogy. The photos and information he gathered make up the new book Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy, which, along with concept art, features the most detailed and comprehensive look at these costumes and the work that went into creating them for the screen. In this trailer, we get to see many pages from the book and footage of Alinger and his team going through the archives. The Lucasfilm Archives look magical. They must smell like plastic, old fabric, and the dreams of geeks everywhere. I don’t know exactly what dreams of geeks smells like, but I imagine it’s a mix of convention halls, model glue, and Peanut M&M’s. Pssssst, Calvin Klein, get on that fragrance stat!

11 Interesting Details You Probably Never Noticed in THE MATRIX

The Playstation 2 dominated the gaming market in the early 2000s (this gamer talk is leading to The Matrix, I promise). Not only was this due to the quality games that were being released for the platform, but a large part of its success is thanks to the fact that the DVD player-equipped console was around the same price as standalone DVD units at that time. So the number of people buying the PS2 to play games was probably close to the amount of people buying it just so they could watch The Matrix on DVD. My brothers and I would have fallen smack in the middle of that imaginary venn diagram. The Matrix was on a constant loop in our house for a very long time. Even though I’ve seen The Wachowskis’ sci-fi masterpiece countless times, watched the subsequent sequels (not nearly as many times but still a lot), and played all of the games, there are still details and easter eggs in the original movie that I was unaware of until today. In this video by Rob Ager, he points out 11 "interesting details" that you also may have missed. I only knew a few of these already, and a couple seem kind of frivolous, but the majority of them will definitely have you saying, “How did I miss that?” or, "Whoa." or, "I know Kung-fu." Ok, maybe not that last one.

Enjoy the video, and thanks to io9 for taking us down the rabbit hole.

The Nolan Bros. Aren't Involved in DC's Cineverse, So What Are They Up To?

In good/bad news for geeks everywhere, the Nolans — director Christopher and writer Jonathan — will have no role in Warner Bros’ upcoming slate of DC films. Christopher Nolan helped to shepherd Man of Steel, and his brother Jonathan Nolan wrote The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, but they’ve moved on to other projects and have no planned involvement in the planned DC cineverse. Jonathan Nolan told Coming Soon,

"I love those guys and my brother was involved in 'Man of Steel' with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed."

Things could always change, though.

"To be continued somewhere farther down the line? Maybe."

That’s fine. The Dark Knight Trilogy was great, but even with Christopher Nolan’s involvement Man of Steel wasn’t anything much. And Interstellar looks so fantastic I would rather the brothers work on their own stuff anyway. So what will they being with their time? Let’s speculate wildly!

According to JediNews.com, Eric Davies of Movies.com heard Jonathan Nolan say that both brothers are huge fans of Star Wars, which obviously means they are going to direct some Star Wars spin-off films, right? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s fun to imagine what their version of the Star Wars universe would look like.

New AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Trailer with Avengers Party Clip

Last night during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel released a new trailer for Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. That trailer is now online for you all to watch and enjoy! Since the first version of this trailer leaked early, the studio included a fun clip from the movie. The trailer starts out with the Avengers team all hanging out together in Avengers Tower taking turns trying to lift Thor's hammer off a table. Of course, no one is worthy, but Captain America does kind of make it move, which is awesome. This is a scene that the studio showed at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, but now everyone gets a taste of the action. After the clip it basically cuts to the trailer we've already seen. The movie comes out on May 1st, 2015.

Do you remember the first time you saw Jake Gyllenhaal's 2001 film Donnie Darko? That was a great moviegoing experience for me. The movie kind of blew my mind, as I had never seen anything like it before. It was such a great far out concept, and it was so strange, dark, and mysterious. This was one of my favorite movies of that year, and since its release the film has become a cult classic. As a tribute to the movie, Florey created this variant poster that he calls "Going off on a Tangent." If you want to buy yourself a print head on over to Bottleneck Gallery, where it's on sale for $40.

First TV Spot for Marvel's AGENT CARTER

"Sometimes the best man for the job is a woman."

Marvel has released the first TV spot for their highly anticipated new series, Agent Carter. The 15 second promo offers us our first look at footage from the series, and even though it's short, it gets the point across. The spot features a little taste of Hayley Atwell in the title role getting ready for some action.

As much as I enjoy Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I think Agent Carter has potential to be an even better series, so I'm looking forward to seeing more! Below you'll find a detailed synopsis for the series along with the promo trailer. If you missed it last night, make sure to check it out!

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy - the only person he can trust - to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy.

If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

The series will premiere sometime in early 2015.

Artist Brock Hofer redesigned Boba Fett as a cool nightmarish looking creature. It's a very different take on the character than we're used to seeing, and he did an awesome job bringing his creepy vision of this iconic character to life. Here's what the artist has to say about it:

"A commissioned piece of Boba Fett with a bit more organic flare. I usually don't get to draw Star Wars characters but had a blast messing around with the armor design, trying to keep him looking cool while throwing in my own weird ideas."

I really like the weird ideas that he threw in here!

Marvel held a huge press event in Los Angeles yesterday where they finally revealed their official movie line up for Phase 3. You can see all the logos and release dates for those film here, and you can watch Studio president Kevin Feige discuss the films here. One of the big events that will be coming is the two part film Avengers: Infinity Wars. Marvel showed a teaser trailer for that movie that has found its way online. In it, we get a glimpse of Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, and it's a pretty badass and exciting visual. There has been a lot of fan speculation about the identity of the Infinity Stones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but this teaser points out which artifacts are going to be part of Thanos' gauntlet. Avengers: Infinity Wars - Part 1 will be released in May 2018 and Part 2 will be released in May of 2019.

Cyber Terrorist Sci-Fi Short Film - SYNC

Last month we showed you a really cool trailer for a sci-fi thriller short film called "SYNC." If you liked what you saw in that trailer, today we have the full 8-minute short film for you to watch. "SYNC" was written and directed by VFX artist and filmmaker Hasraf 'HaZ' Dulull, who is also the director of the space exploration short "Project Kronos," which is being developed as feature film. This latest project of his is awesome, and I think a lot of you will like what if offers. Here's the synopsis:

Every 15 seconds, a computer, network, or mobile device is hacked by cyber-terrorists. To combat this problem, Syntek Industries has manufactured data couriers designed from advanced machine robotics. These couriers are known as SYNCS. Syncs are programmed to securely deliver data packages without interruption.

I really like the look of the film. It was beautifully shot, and if it was a feature film I'd definitely check it out.
