Big Headed Marvel Superhero and Villain Art by Christopher Lee

Artist Christopher Lee (not to be confused with the 92-year-old actor of the same name) has created an art series of Marvel's superheroes and villains with oversized heads. We've featured Lee's previous big headed heroes series, EA character art, and Ghostbusters illustrations.

The style Lee is using in this art series reminds me of the type of whimsical caricatures, colored line work and color palette seen children's book illustrations.

new-tv-spot-for-big-hero-6-with-new-footage-and-viral-video

Disney has unveiled the latest TV spot for the Marvel inspired animated superhero action film, Big Hero 6. Apparently, this is the fourteenth TV spot that's been released, and you'll be happy to know that it features a decent amount of fun new footage from the movie. I also included a short viral video featuring Baymax and Hiro rocketing around the movie title. This flick looks so cool, and it's definitely a must watch movie for any Disney or superhero movie fan. The film seems like it has a good mix of everything we love about movies; drama, comedy, adventure, great characters, and a lot of action.

With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.

Big Hero 6 was directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Bolt), and produced by Roy Conli (Tangled). The film hits theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014.

Artist Marco D'Alfonso is back with an awesome new piece of art, and it shows us what Marvel's Deadpool would look like as a classic 1980s G.I. Joe action figure. I always enjoy the art that this guy gives us, and Deadpool is one of his specialties. You can see some more art from him that we previously posted here. I just wish that this G.I. Joe Deadpool figure actually existed. If you look closely, you will see some funny comments that were included in the art, like how the limbs are removable. I also like the "Do Not Aim Towards Face" warning below the figure. You can get yourself a print of the illustration right here for only $11.00.

For those of you looking for more information on Marvel's upcoming Daredevil series, we have a couple of video interviews with the cast of the show that were conducted by Marvel.

In the first video, Charlie Cox talks about his role as Daredevil; Deborah Ann Woll discusses her transition from True Blood to Karen Page in Daredevil; Elden Henson offers up some info on his character Foggy Nelson; and Vondie Curtis-Hall talks about his character Ben Urich.

The second video features Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa), Toby Moore (Wesley - Wilson Fisk's right hand man), and Bob Gunton (Leland Owlsley), talking about what they think about their characters and the show in general.

Over the weekend, some concept art and photos from the series surfaced, and I really like what I'm seeing from it so far. The show was inspired by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr.'s Daredevil: Man Without Fear comic series, and it will follow the journey of Matt Murdock, "who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City."

Growing Up Geek: How OLIVER Led to Breakfast with Jason Bateman

In my last Growing Up Geek article, "The Beginning of a Child Actor," I started to talk about my adventures of being a child actor. As I mentioned before, I got my start doing a lot of stage plays and musicals at a local theater in the city where I grew up called The Glendale Center Theater. It was there that I made some of the best friends I ever had, and I engulfed myself in the world of entertainment. Acting was something that I truly enjoyed doing, and it gave me such a strong adrenaline rush every time I got up on stage. I really wanted to give this acting thing a try.

It was during this time that I was spotted by a couple talent agents while I was doing the musical Oliver. I played Charlie Bates, who was kind of a side kick to Artful Dodger, and part of the rest of Faign's young team of hooligan pick-pockets. I nailed down my English accent, and it made me want to start learning how to talk in more different accents. There was also a girl in the play that I made out with all the time. I was full on making out with girls at eleven-years-old thanks to theater, which is so hard to fathom now. I would go ballistic if one of my daughters was making out with boys at that age. If my mom is reading this right now, it might be the first time she's hearing of this. Oliver was definitely one of most fun stage productions I was ever a part of.

One night after the play ended, I was out in the lobby doing a meet and greet with the audience, and that is when I was approached by two agents. One worked for a big youth talent agency called 20th Century Artists, the other was an independent agent by the name of Alfie.

In the coming weeks I met with both of them and in the end I decided to go with Alfie. This was a guy that seemed like he would give me his undivided attention. He had a much smaller clientele than the other agency who was loaded with young actors. It was comforting to know someone would be there to put a lot of their time and attention on getting me work, and that they wouldn't be spread thin like the other agency.

One of my most vivid memories of spending time with Alfie was when we went out to get some head shots done for me. We met up at a house in the Hollywood Hills, and it was there I met a young actor by the name of Jason Bateman, who made me pancakes. At the time I had just known him from Silver Spoons and Teen Wolf 2. Since then the guy has become a huge actor in Hollywood, and one of his next films coming out will be Horrible Bosses 2. I remember I was watching Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story where Bateman played one of the announcers in the story during the tournament. It was the first movie that I recognized him in since the time he made me breakfast. It's really surreal to think about that now. He was the absolutely nicest guy, but I seriously doubt he remembers this as it was so long ago. It's a fun experience for me to look back on, though. I'm not really sure what Alfie's relationship was with him, but we took the headshot photos right across the street from the house where I ate pancakes with the actor.

The head shots turned out great, and Alfie went to work trying to find me acting gigs, the first of which was a video game commercial for Super Nintendo. That will be the next Growing Up Geek experience that I share.

(Note: That's not me in the photo above. I couldn't find any pictures from that production, which really bums me out.)

Marvel Announces STAR WARS REBELS Prequel Comic STAR WARS – KANAN

marvel-announces-star-wars-rebels-prequel-comic-star-wars-kanan

Marvel has announced a new Star Wars comic book series that will serve as a prequel to the animated series Star Wars Rebels. It's called Star Wars - Kanan: The Last Padawan, and it's being developed by Star Wars Rebels executive producer Greg Weisman.

The character Kanan is voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr. in the animated series, and he's the only Jedi on the team. This comic will tell the story of how he ended up where he did while being hunted down.

Marvel sat down with Wiseman at New York Comic Con for an interview, and he discusses some aspects of the comic starting out with how a look at the hero's past will impact his present.

"It’s more about informing his present rather than impacting it. But I think when you get this back story, you’ll see—especially as the television series continues into the recently announced season two—that it has a clear influence on his actions. Beyond that: NO SPOILERS."

He went on to talk about the tone of the story saying:

"The tone is slightly darker than the television series because it covers an extremely dark time. But from my point of view, nothing has changed, and the tone I’m always going for is that of Episodes IV and V."

Wiseman was then asked about what Kanan’s greatest needs are in terms of training and about his relationship with his master, Depa Billaba.

"We’ll see Kanan train to be a Jedi. And then we’ll see him train specifically not to be a Jedi anymore. His relationship with Master Billaba is warm and wry."

This sounds like it's going to be an awesome story to follow. Based on this comic and the TV series so far, I like the direction that Lucasfilm and Disney are taking things. Star Wars – Kanan: The Last Padawan will hit comic book stores in April. Make sure to read the full interview here.

GeekTyrant reader Lizzie Campbell sent in these charming alternative movie posters that she created in homage to several classic horror movies. Those movies are Hellraiser, Donnie Darko, Frankenstein, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, House of a Thousand Corpses, Ichi: The Killer, and Little Shop of Horrors. She recreated the characters of these movies using polymer clay and other mixed media. It's a fun style. Now if someone out there could take it a step further and recreate certain scenes from these films using claymation, that would be great You can see more of Campbell's work on her website Clay Disarray

Movie to TV Show Mania: RESIDENT EVIL Will Be Readapted for TV — Plus 7 Others

$

It seems like every movie out there is either getting a companion TV series or a full readaptation for TV. Today Constantin Film has announced that Resident Evil, The Mortal Instruments, and Perfume are being developed for TV.

We have recently reported that Underworld, Rush Hour, Big, Minority Report, and Omen are getting the TV treatment. Movies being adapted into shows happens all the time, but we've had eight reported readaptations in about a month.

In movies there seem to be two kinds of budgets, big $100 plus million and low budget projects. All the $50 million or $20-$30 million movie budget movies seem to have largely disappeared. Studios seem to really only have confidence in serialized movies and cineverses. Why spend $30 million on a movie when you can create a high budget TV series? Instead of one weekend to make back 80% of your money, you make a deal with a network and get all your money back, and have an opportunity to make revenue off a hit series for years and years. There are more places for TV online, too. Netflix has changed the game, and even Amazon is getting into the mix.

Movie geeks have been complaining about remakes for years. If the studios don't pull off great readaptations, I'm sure we'll get more complaints. But there are some great movies that have made even better TV shows. A few examples that come to mind are M*A*S*H and Friday Night Lights. Add that to the fact that TV is making really compelling content like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Arrow… the list goes on. The more I think about it the more all these announcements make sense. I'm sure there will be more to come.

Fan Creates STAR WARS Math Question and J.J. Abrams Answers It

A 13-year-old by the name of Cody was recently given an assignment for school to write an algebraic expression into a word problem. He used all of his Star Wars fandom and knowledge to write a word problem that is flooded with Star Wars references. The coolest thing about it is that J.J. Abrams saw it, solved the problem, and sent it to Cody with a question of his own. I think what impresses me the most is that the kid really knows his Shadows of the Empire characters. Here's the math problem:

J.J. Abrams is making Star Wars Episode 7. He rented three speeder bikes which was 700 imperial credits to start. He must pay 100 imperial credits to keep his speeder bikes daily. If he does not pay daily, Prince Xizor and other Black Sun members will kidnap J. J. Abrams, bring him to Mustafar, and sacrifice him.

J. J. Abrams is also paying 5 bounty hunters to keep separatist spies out. That costs 200 imperial credits to start, then 50 imperial credits for each bounty hunter every time they capture a spy. The Separatists send 2 spies every day.

In how many days does J. J. Abrams spend the same amount of imperial credits on speeders and bounty hunters?

Below, you'll find Abrams' response. It was seriously so cool of the director to do something like this. It shows that the guy really loves what he's doing and that he cares about the fans.

WALKING DEAD Mystery Villain Revealed

walking-dead-mystery-villain-revealed

For those of you Walking Dead fans hoping that the mystery villain we were introduced to in the Season 5 premiere was Negan from the comics, you should know that it's not. That was my first thought while watching the episode, though. SPOILERS ahead.

If you watched the episode then you know it gave us a little background information on the leader of the group, Gareth, residing at Camp Cannibal Terminus. There's a lot more to this character than we initially realized. Yes, these guys were a group of evil assholes, but apparently they weren't always that way.

It was revealed in some flashback scenes that Gareth and his people did in fact initially envision Terminus as a "Sanctuary for All." But after taking in a group who tortured and murdered their people, they took back Terminus and decided to not trust any newcomers and do whatever it takes to protect themselves, including luring in outsiders and eating them.

The big question is… who was that big mean-ass guy who entered the train car at the end of the episode to torture Gareth and his family? Showrunner Scott M. Gimple calls him the "Large Man," and maybe you may have already figured this out, but he was also the long-haired guy that Rick sets loose from the train car that is quickly eaten by a horde of walkers. VFX artist Greg Nicotero talks about the character in an interview with THR, and explains why he needed to exist.

"He's one of the dudes that took over Termius. At the end, when they go back into the train car and you see them, that's the same guy. When they're saying, 'You're either the cattle or the butcher,' Mary says, 'We put the signs up because we did want to save this place and want it to be a sanctuary and then they took it away.' Them being willing to take people in, it was the biggest mistake they made and it turned them. That's a big theme on the show because it shows how you can start out as a good person and with a few flips of the switch, be not such a good person."

Gimple added:

"Bad people came in and did things to Gareth and his group. Gareth and his group did bad things to people. Does that mean that Rick and his group do bad things to other people? I don't think Gareth thinks he's the same as the 'large man' or the people that came in. I think he is a lot more pragmatic. [Gareth's mother told Carol] that they came in, laughed, and took the place over within weeks and they did horrible things and left. Gareth is a little amused by Rick saying that he's going to kill him. But other than that, Gareth isn't laughing. He's very serious about this. There is a gravity to the whole thing for Gareth. It's the banality of evil but in some ways, it's another day at the office at Terminus. But they're not sitting there laughing and enjoying it."

I guess there's a good chance that the rest of the "large man's" group could turn out to be The Hunters from the comic. They spy on Rick and the crew as they are traveling to Washington, D.C. in the comic. Gimple addresses this group in the interview, saying,

"The Hunters are very purposeful. In the comics, they thought they just had to do what they had to do. There was no enjoyment from it. The only person who seemed to enjoy that sort of thing in the comics was The Governor."

I'm sure everything that we've seen in this first episode sets up an even bigger shit-storm later on. I'm looking forward to seeing what that will be!

Fox Gives GOTHAM a Full Season Order of 22 Episodes

I'm excited to report that Fox has officially given their Batman prequel series Gotham a full series order! It was originally picked up for only sixteen episodes, but because the show is doing so well, and because it's so damn good, the network has decided to give it an additional six episodes, bringing it to a total of 22.

I love this series, and I couldn't be happier that the first season is going to be extended. Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman released a statement saying,

Gotham debuted as one of the most buzzed-about shows of the fall, and with good reason. Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon have created an incredibly rich world, with characters that draw you in and a cast that brings to life these heroes and villains in a way we’ve never seen before. We are so excited to see where Bruno, Danny and the entire Gotham team take this story over the course of this season, and so thankful to all the fans who have embraced it this fall.”

I'm really hoping that the network will keep the series on air long enough for its creators to tell their full story. I want to see these characters continue to grow into the heroes and villains that we all know and love. The next step is to get Season 2 greenlit!

How did you feel after watching The Walking Dead’s explosive Season 5 premiere last night? If you were left wanting more, AMC has already released a ton of clips and promos for the second episode. However, if you crawled into bed and assumed the fetal position until this morning, you could probably use some lighter zombie fare.

Bad Lip Reading released the hilarious first part of their parody of The Walking Dead’s fourth season a couple weeks ago. Now Part 2 and a full version of the “Carl Poppa” song have since been released for your viewing pleasure. Seeing Rick and Daryl argue about gluing hair on mannequins and Tyreese croon about greasy beans is the perfect remedy for PWDSD (Post Walking Dead Stress Disorder).

Why Michael Keaton Turned Down $15 Million for BATMAN 3

$
0
0

Michael Keaton is currently doing press for his new movie Birdman, and the media can't seem to help but ask him about Batman. The superhero is a hot topic of discussion because of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is currently in production. Keaton played Bruce Wayne/Batman in Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns. He was supposed to come back for a third Batman film, but once Burton's film was ditched by the studio in favor of Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever things took a turn for the worse. The studio offered Keaton $15 million dollars to reprise his role as the Dark Knight in the film, but he turned it down. CBS Sunday Morning asked why he turned it down and he gave one simple answer,

"Sucked. Yeah, it just was awful!"

It really was. It must have been hard to turn down $15 million though! That's a lot of freakin' money! The fact that he did though tells us the guy cares about the films he involves himself with. Keaton also pointed out in the interview that Affleck wasn't the only actor who has had to deal with fan outcry from being cast as Batman. He amusingly compared the petitions that people sent to Warner Bros. to "villagers with torches, coming to get me!"

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor elaborated on not reprising the role saying,

“I hadn’t been stupid about it. I always knew it was a big machine with a big studio and corporation behind it. But the simple answer was, it wasn’t any good. I was nice. I said to them, ‘This is a really interesting character with a dual personality.’ I tried to make them understand. But when somebody says to you, ‘Does it have to be so dark?'... I thought, are we talking about the same character? So finally I just said no.”

The actor was then asked if he would entertain the idea of suiting back up and playing Batman. He replied with the following answer:

“If it was Tim Burton directing? In a heartbeat. Tim, in the movies, really invented the whole dark-superhero thing. He started everything, and some of the guys who have done these movies since then don’t say that, and they’re wrong.”

Unfortunately we'll never see that happen, but if it did, it could be one of the most successful Batman movies that the studio makes. Could you imagine these two guys teaming back up to bring us a direct adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns? That would be badass.

Guy Scares Co-Worker by Screaming STREET FIGHTER Impressions at Him

One of the wildest tours I ever went on was a package tour for the record label I was on. There were a couple of younger bands on the label who opened up the show, and they didn’t quite get along. They were from opposite sides of the States, and played drastically different types of music. On a daily basis, the guitarist from one band would “prank” the drummer from the other band by palming him in the chest while yelling, “Hadouken!!!” at the top of his lungs. It was funny for the first couple days, then it just got sad. This video compilation of a guy scaring his co-worker by screaming Street Fighter battle cries and character names is much tamer and nicer, but probably just as irritating to the victim. I guess if you startle someone in the first place, what you yell doesn't really matter. Next time the guy should yell letters of the alphabet at his co-worker and make a comp of that. That would be both educational and funny… as well as traumatizing.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Producer Gives Most In-Depth Interview Yet

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Charles Roven recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter’s Stephen Galloway for The Hollywood Masters, and revealed some really interesting things about the Zack Snyder film currently in production. You can watch the whole segment where Roven talks about Dawn of Justice below.

Roven gives the fullest account I’ve heard so far about the decision to cast Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight. Roven points out that among many other things, they really wanted Batman to tower over Superman. Seeing as Affleck is 6’4” and Henry Cavill is about 6’1”, Affleck certainly fits the bill. Roven recaps their plan to expand the universe, and also reveals that Wonder Woman is a demigod and that her father is Zeus. Unless that last detail was said in jest, it seemingly squashes previous rumors that this iteration of Wonder Woman could be Kryptonian. There are a lot of other interesting insights Roven gives about the production as well as Christopher Nolan's involvement, so the 7-minute interview is well worth watching. [Note: The audio is a little low, so you’ll have to turn up the volume a bit.]

Dima Fedotof is a CG enthusiast from Russia who directed this insanely stunning sci-fi short film called "Fortress." It's something quite impressive that I think you will really enjoy watching. It was able to suck me right in, and one of the only issues I had with it is that it was too short. The director describes the film as a cartoon parable, explaining,

[Note: This roughly translated quote is taken directly from the video description]

Despite the fact that mankind is killed, the war still continues. War continued with automated system left by people. One of the last surviving bomber and its pilot still performs its task. The city is dead for a long time. Dead people who built it. Dead people who gave the order to destroy the city. And war will continue until subside echo of humanity. But life will always find a way to survive. Cassette bomb submunitions became a fortress for the grass.

I love the atmosphere, setting and tone of this movie, and the designs are very cool and intriguing. I think a feature length film based around this concept would be pretty badass.

Robert Downey Jr. Signs on for CAPTAIN AMERICA 3, Which Will Launch Civil War Storyline

robert-downy-jr-signs-on-for-avengers-3-which-will-launch-civil-war-storyline

It looks like Robert Downey Jr. will be in Captain America 3, reprising his role as Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man! The new comes from Variety, who says that the actor is in final negotiations of solidifying the deal. They also say that the movie will launch the Civil War storyline in the cinematic universe and that it will start a whole new phase from Marvel Studios.

This is incredible news! It seems like the fans of the comic saw this coming from a mile away, but it's great to see it will actually happen. I couldn't be more excited and happy that Downey Jr. is coming back for another epic Marvel picture that will change the face of the cineverse. This is huge news for Marvel fans!

The storyline is extremely intense and interesting as it will pit Stark against Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, who is played by Chris Evans. The reason for the feud will be the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their identities to the U.S. government and agree to act as a police force for the authorities. Stark supports the program, and Rogers opposes itt because he believes that it threatens civil liberties. This causes all superheroes to choose sides. Rogers, along with a few others, to go on the run to avoid being arrested. Stark essentially has a more villainous role in the story.

We will get to see a side of Stark that we've never really seen before on the big screen, and it will be a hell of role for Downey Jr. to take on. This is a great story, and I couldn't be more excited that it's going to be brought into the cinematic universe.

Apparently the deal with Downey Jr. almost didn't happen, and there was some some heavy drama behind it. According to the report, "Marvel wanted to hire Downey for a small role, which would have required just three weeks of work. But Downey wanted Stark to have a more substantial role in the film’s plot, which would give him more screen time and naturally a bigger payday. This angered Marvel Entertainment chief Ike Perlmutter, who ordered the screenwriters to write Iron Man out of the script entirely, according to sources with knowledge of the situation."

Damn! That would have been a MAJOR mistake on Marvel's part. I can't believe it even got to that point. Thankfully, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Downey’s reps continued talking in hopes they would work things out. The report says, "Feige was bent on executing his grand vision for extending the life of the Marvel characters over many years."

So far he's succeeded in that, and hopefully he can keep the ball rolling. The site goes on to explain that Feige needed Perlmutter to see the big picture, "considering the introduction of the Civil War story is seen as a way to drive the plots of sequels and new franchises for the next seven years, given the dramatic possibilities it offers for future films. The fallout from the government and Stark’s actions would factor into a new Avengers 4 film and beyond that will assemble new characters being introduced like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, among others, in their own movies."

After all is said and done, Marvel is definitley headed in the right direction, and fans are going to freakin' love them for what they plan on doing. Captain America 3 is set to begin production in the spring, and it will be released on May 6th, 2016. I can't wait to see how this story plays out in the in the cinematic universe once they get it rolling. This is so exciting! Downey Jr. will appear in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he has also already signed on to star in Avengers 3.

Marvel Comics has just revealed an exciting illustration teasing the return of Civil War for 2015. I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the Civil War story line that will be introduced in Captain America 3 as we recently reported. Marvel will be rebooting the Civil War comic series to introduce the story to new readers leading up to that release of Captain America 3The original series was an amazing seven issue run written by Mark Millar that was published in 2006 - 2007.

Last night huge news hit that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to star in Captain America 3, which would jump start Marvel's Civil War storyline in their cinematic universe. A lot of fans are extremely excited about all of this. I know I am!

They are now in the process of bringing the highly anticipated Captain America 3 to the screen. It sounds like the Marvel movies they direct wont stop there. If Joss Whedon decides not to come back to direct Avengers 3 and 4, the Russo brothers may be the guys to jump in and replace him. The rumor comes from Badass Digest who says,

"How closely will Captain America 3 tie in with Avengers 3? I’ve been told that the Russo Brothers are in talks to direct Avengers 3 and possibly 4. Sources tell me that they’re the favorites of Marvel right now and that they are the guys Kevin Feige want [sic] to pick up the mantle from Joss Whedon."

They did a hell of job with The Winter Soldier, and I can only imagine Captain America 3 will be even better. Marvel obviously loves working with these guys, and you know what? If anyone comes in to replace Whedon on the Avengers films, it should be them.

Possible SPOILERS for upcoming Marcel movies ahead.

There's a good chance that Whedon won't return for Avengers 3. He may want to take a break from giant superhero movies when he's done with it. The report goes on to offer a few details about Age of Ultron and how it will lead to Captain America 3's Civil War story saying, "The fallout of Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be huge in this movie. There is a lot of destruction in that film. It makes an impact." They go on to say,

"More than that, Marvel is looking at Cap 3 as Avengers 2.5. It's going to be another ensemble picture, and it could feature Cap's new team from the end of Age of Ultron. Last I heard (and they haven't shot this scene yet, so it could change) that team is Falcon, War Machine, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Black Widow, as well as probably The Vision (although I have been told Black Widow will not be much of a presence in Cap 3). And once again the events of a Captain America movie will reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

And in case you're wondering how Thanos plays into this whole storyline, the site says,

"Remember when I told you Cap wouldn't be in Avengers 3? This is why. At the end of Cap 3 the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be in a tough, dark place, with the heroes scattered and defeated. That will continue through Avengers 3, and it will leave the world open to the threat of Thanos in either Avengers 4 or the big universe-wide team-up movie, whichever comes first."

The Marvel cinematic universe is about to go really dark, and it's going to be interesting to see how they handle the material. It's obviously not going to be a direct adaptation of Civil War, but the main themes are definitely going to be used. Badass Digest offers up a little insight into it, explaining,

"I know that at the end of Age of Ultron Tony Stark retires from The Avengers and possibly even from being Iron Man. He feels very responsible for what happened in that film, as the Ultron project was his brainchild. Here's my guess for Cap 3: with that in mind, and aware of the destruction his out of control robot caused, Tony thinks that the Age of Miracles is too unregulated. With the fall of SHIELD there's simply no one keeping tabs on everybody. That scene of Black Widow in front of the Congressional committee in The WInter Soldier was a late addition, and it speaks to this - these super beings are answering to no one. And Tony decides that's wrong. Which brings him into direct conflict with Captain America, who is still leading a team of Avengers. I don't think this will follow the exact outline of the comic book story, but simply take the concept and the beloved Marvel idea of heroes battling."

As for the possibility of Captain America dying in the movie, the site says that multiple sources say that the title of Captain America 3 could be Captain America: Fallen Son. There's no confirmation of that, but I could see it happening.

Marvel is truly breaking new ground with their storytelling, and this upcoming phase they are developing is going to be mind-blowing.
