If you enjoy watching horror movies, then I suggest you take the time during the Halloween season to go check out The Conjuring spin-off movie Annabelle. I thought it was enjoyable, and it's a good movie to watch during this time of year. It tells the story of an evil, possessed doll looking to steal a soul.

It was reported yesterday that the creator of Child's Play wanted to team Chucky up with Annabelle, and now MTV has released a clever video for your entertainment that mashes the audio from the Annabelle trailer with the visuals of Pixar's Toy Story. The video gives us a look at a fake horror movie called Woody, and it turned out great. I hope you enjoy the trailer mashup.

DOCTOR WHO — Trailers and Photos for "Mummy On The Orient Express"

Last week's episode of Doctor Who, "Kill the Moon," ended in a way that very much changes the series. In the aftermath of that episode, we have this week's episode "Mummy On The Orient Express," which will be Peter Capaldi's first companionless episode as The Doctor.

The episode seems a bit like a mad lib. The Orient Express in space would have been enough of a twist, but throw in a mummy and you've got some off the wall Doctor Who stuff.

I'm liking Capaldi's Doctor so far. He's really different that the previous few doctors. The best new element is that he's completely unpredictable.

THE LION KING: 9 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know — Video

The team at Cinefix has created a new "Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About" video that focuses on The Lion King. Having seen the movie so many times, I'm surprised I learned a few things. I was twelve years old when the movie came out and because my siblings and cousins were much younger than me the movie was in our VCR on repeat for about a year. The music was super catchy and lions have never been cooler since. The older I've gotten, the more I can appreciate the animation, which is just stunning. Disney's second 2D animated golden era might have ended long ago, but with new films like Frozen, Wreck-it Ralph, and Big Hero 6, Disney seems to be entering a 3D animated golden era.

William Shatner Teases His STAR TREK 3 Return

Last month a rumor surfaced saying that writer and director Roberto Orci wanted William Shatner to appear alongside Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek 3. Shatner later confirmed that producer J.J. Abrams had called to ask him if he'd be interested in being in the film. Today the legendary actor teased his return to the franchise with a tweet that simply said,

"I'm baaaaccckk!!!"

That tweet has since been removed. It's going to be so cool to see Shatner in a Star Trek movie again after all of these years. We even have some information on who Shatner will have scenes with in the film and the possible timeline. Badass Digest reports.

"My sources are now telling me that not only will Shatner be in the movie, his scene will have him meeting Chris Pine. Also in that scene: Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy. But if my sources are steering me correct this won’t be original timeline Spock – it’ll be future alt-timeline Kirk and Spock. Basically the scene will have Kirk and Spock interacting with their future selves."

They certainly love to play with the whole alternate timeline rules that Abrams set up in the first two rebooted Star Trek movies. It's a great way to bring back old familiar faces. I wonder if one day the younger Star Trek crew will come face to face with the older Star Trek crew.

I've been a fan of Star Trek since I was a kid. I love what they've done with these new films and I can't wait to see Shatner introduced into it!

James Franco's BATMAN and BEETLEJUICE Mashup Comedy Sketch

James Franco teamed up with AOL to develop a web series called Making A Scene. They have a "Wheel O' Movie Scenes" that determines what the mash-up scene they shoot will involve. In the latest episode, the spin brings together the Banana Boat dinner scene from Tim Burton's Beetlejuice and the Joker "make a pencil disappear" scene from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. The video turned out to be really entertaining. I thought it was funny that Franco has obviously never seen Beetlejuice because he needs to have that scene explained to him. How does a person go through this world and not see Beetlejuice?! Especially someone like Franco. The sketch is called "Batjuice," and the scene they create includes Batman, the Joker, Catwoman, Beetlejuice, Lydia, and Robin at a dinner party that eventually goes into lip-synching to "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)."

JURASSIC WORLD: Possible Trailer Description

Youtube user Ivan Flores claims to have seen an early trailer for Jurassic World. He was able to see the trailer because he was part of a focus group. He looks and sounds like he's about 14 or 15 years old. If he is indeed a minor, even if he signed a NDA (Non-disclosure agreement), it wouldn't be binding.

The full video is over eleven minutes long and he rambles a lot and is pretty disorganized, but he seems genuine and honest. I used to live in Burbank, California and studios would pull people off the street all the time for surveys.

At the time of posting, Universal has pulled his video off of YouTube, signaling its possible legitimacy.

Transcription via JurassicWorld.ORG

OPEN: UNIVERSAL and LEGENDARY logo- cut to ferryboat, filled with tourists. The camera pans around to show Isla Nublar. A few scenes pass by, showcasing the arrival to the island. The next scene shows a vehicle passing through large gates, much like the Jurassic Park gates, that read JURASSIC WORLD. Queue small montage of scenes showcasing the park, filled with tourists. (Note: at some point during these scenes title cards that read “THE PARK” “IS OPEN” appear)

One scene that is described specifically is of a vehicle casually driving through a field, surrounded by bipedal dinosaurs, likely Gallimimus. The next described scene specifically is of two passengers (likely Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins) inside of a ‘clear bubble-shaped vehicle” (the Gyrosphere), next to large Sauropods, which are likely Apatosaurs.

A few more scenes go by, which lead into a Great White Shark, hung upside-down over water, with visitors onlooking. Suddenly the water explodes, and the huge head of Mosasaur leaps upward, encompassing the shark, and pulling it under, thus soaking the guests watching in awe.

We then see a closeup of a mosquito inside of amber, and cut to Bryce Dallas Howard saying a line along the lines of “We have learned more about genetics in the past decade than the past century” and “We are now able to create our own dinosaurs from scratch”.

We now see Chris Pratt for the first time, walking into a room questioning an apparent situation. We cut to see a huge wall of a paddocks interior, covered in deep scratches. It is then mentioned that the ‘creature’ is loose, and a line similar to “She is deadly, and she will find us” is said. Cut to a person being dragged through a dark jungle, from a first-person perspective, only showcasing his feet. Next we see someone fall into water, followed by a woman screaming in terror.

Cut to title “JURASSIC WORLD”, followed by Chris Pratt saying “If we’re gonna do this, we do this my way” pans to a muzzled Velociraptor that he gently pats on the head. It is then followed by a scene of a pack of raptors charging through the jungle. The trailer finishes with a title card that reads “JUNE 12th, 2015”.

This sounds pretty exciting. We've reported on the DNA splicing, shown a photo of a muzzled raptor, and have been given a tease of a big bad dinosaur. This kid is either fully on top of all the rumors and constructed an elaborate lie, or he really did see an early trailer. What do you think?

Jurassic World attacks theaters June 12th, 2015 (USA).

SPAWN Fan Art by Ryan Lang

Artist Ryan Lang has released another incredibly awesome piece of fan art. This one features Todd McFarlane's classic comic book character Spawn. I love this illustration, and I'm a big fan of the characters. I grew up reading the comic, and I loved the HBO animated series that was made in the 90s. I wish they would have kept that thing going.

McFarlane has also been trying to get a new movie off the ground for years, but I've given up on it. I'd love to see that happen, but he just doesn't seem to be pushing it forward. For the last few years all he says is that he's still working on the script, which tells me he's not, because he'd be finished by now.

Make sure to check out Lang's art for Disney's Gargoyles, Wolverine, and Big Hero 6.

THE WALKING DEAD Renewed for a Sixth Season

Just ahead of The Walking Dead Season 5 premiere, AMC has announced that the epic zombie series has been renewed for a sixth season! I know it's not really surprising news as it's the number one highest rated TV drama. The network is going to keep this show going for as long as they possibly can, and they are even developing a companion series that will probably be just as awesome. It's still nice to get the official confirmation though.

AMC president Charlie Collier said in a statement,

"We could not be more excited for Oct. 12 as we share new episodes of The Walking Dead with fans around the globe. In advance of Sunday’s season five premiere, AMC proudly confirms a sixth season order of this extraordinary series. Thank you to Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, the terrific executive producers, and the entire team who brings this compelling world and these rich characters to life. There’s plenty more Dead ahead thanks to their impressive, collective effort."

There's no word on how many episodes Season 6 will have, or what the story will entail, but it's a great feeling to know that we'll eventually find out. This is one of my favorite series on TV, and I'm extremely happy that audiences have embraced it and it's doing so well.

The fifth season premieres on October 12th. Bring on the walker carnage!

So what did Edgar Wright do to pass the time after he dropped out of Marvel's Ant-Man? He directed a music video for Pharrell Williams that features Daft Punk, of course! The song is called "Gust of Wind," and it's got a funky cool beat. The video features Williams going off into the woods where he finds massive, floating Daft Punk heads, as well as some very talented and colorful dancers and aerialists. You can tell that Wright had a fun time with this. The director still has yet to officially pick his next film project, but a couple films that have been mentioned are Grasshopper Jungle and Baby Driver

GOTHAM Episode 4 Promo - "Arkham"

Gotham continues to impress me with its immersive world and colorful characters. Last night's episode was solid, and the more I see where they are taking the Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. Penguin character, the more I like him. They are doing a great job fleshing him out, and he's going to be a very likable villain. This is a fantastic origin story for him, and the development for the character has been surprising. Everyone's character is being handled well, but this first season has put the main focus on Cobblepot. I hope the origins of all of the other villains that the series introduces will be just as detailed.

FOX has released a promo for the fourth episode, which is called "Arkham," and here is a short description of the episode that has been released:

"As a contentious city council vote on the future of the Arkham district approaches, politicians from both sides are in danger. Gordon and Bullock must race to protect the council and an old friend visits Gordon."

"Arkham" is set to air on October 13th, and it looks great.

Movie concept artist Josh Herman has released some work that he did for Marvel and James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Groot was such a great a lovable character in the film, he was a favorite character of my two youngest girls. I've always enjoyed the artistic process of film development, so seeing stuff like this is exciting for me. We've seen a good amount of concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy already. In case you missed any of them, you can see some art of Nebula here and here. We've also got a great piece of Howard the Duck art here, and you can see what Jason Momoa would have looked like as Drax here. I wish Marvel would allow for concept art like this stuff to be sold as prints, because they are awesome.

Legendary Developing TV Series Based on MYST Video Game

Legendary TV and Digital Media have teamed up with Cyan Worlds to develop a TV series and companion video game to the popular game franchise Myst

Myst debuted back in 1993 and has a ton of sequels and ports of the original title. The basic premise of the game features characters alone on a mysterious island, where they must venture out to "explore its grandeur and mystery." It has been described as "a chilling tale of intrigue and injustice, defying all boundaries of space and time."

The video game developer offered a statement saying:

"Cyan's goal in working with Legendary is not just to create a compelling TV drama but to develop a true transmedia product that will include a companion video game that extends the story across both media,” the company said. "Seventy percent of tablet owners use their device while watching TV at least several times a week. Cyan sees the potential to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling to a new level."

This isn't the first time Myst has been put into development, back in 2002 the SyFy Channel announced plans for a TV miniseries, but nothing ever came of it. I've never played the game, but it does sound like it will make for an intriguing series. With Legendary behind its development, I imagine it will be something that fans of the game and regular audiences will enjoy.

Alternate STAR WARS Scene — Princess Leia Rescues a Wimpy Luke Skywalker

We all know Princess Leia is one badass princess. Given enough time she might have escaped the Death Star all on her own. This video by Dustin McLean is a "lost" version of the grappling hook and swing scene in Star Wars: A New Hope, and in it Luke Skywalker is a complete wimp.

McLean Via Geeks Are Sexy:

In this newly discovered footage from 1977’s Star Wars, we see that Luke was reluctant about the safety of using that tiny grappling hook so Princess Leia had to take matters into her own hands.

We've posted some of McLean's other great sweded movies in the past, like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Terminator 2, Enders Game, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

"Did he just punch a guy with a car?!"

The Screen Junkies go completely off on Michael Bay's Transformers: age of Extinction, and hilariously tear apart its ridiculousness. I really wanted to like this movie, and I gave it the benefit of the doubt before I went to see it, but it was just so awful. The movie made an ass-load of money, though, which means that unfortunately we are probably going to see the rest of the new trilogy play out on the big screen.

The Autobots are back...to sell you more products!! Relive Michael Bay's most incomprehensible, illogical, unintelligible Transformers movie yet - now featuring China!

This honest trailer turned out amazing, and anyone who hated the last Transformers movie as much as I did is going to love this.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY Companion Series AMERICAN CRIME STORY in Development

As fans are counting down the hours to the premiere of American Horror Story: Freak Show tonight, news comes from Deadline that we are going to see a companion series. That show will be called American Crime Story, and it's being developed by FX and AHS creator Ryan Murphy.

If you couldn't tell from the title, the series will focus on some of the most famous true crime stories that have ever happened. The series will launch with one of the biggest cases in the past few decades — the murder trial of O.J. Simpson. FX has already given the series a 10-episode, straight-to-series order, and it will be titled, American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson.

This is actually a fantastic idea that I could see being a huge hit for the network. Lots of people are interested in true crime stories. I've actually done a ridiculous amount of research on a ton of stories like this, and people have done some pretty messed up things that will make for great installments of a series like this.

The first season will be based on the book The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin. FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said in a statement,

“Time and time again, Ryan Murphy has transformed the medium of television by redefining genres and formats as he did with Nip/Tuck, Glee and the American Horror Story franchise, and we expect the same of American Crime Story. Scott and Larry have adapted Jeffrey Toobin’s book into a masterful 10-hour piece. I have no doubt that Ryan and his partners Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, and Dante Di Loreto are going to make something very memorable here – and that it will be a spectacular first entry in what is destined to become a series of great true crime-based miniseries.”

Murphy added,

“This is an exciting project for me, as I’ve been looking for the right property which could serve as an extension of the American Horror Story brand I love so much. The O.J. case was as tragic as it was fascinating — it seemed like everyone had a stake in the outcome. It was really the beginning of the modern tabloid age.”

According to the report, "American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson is a look at the Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s black community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt."

Stunning SILVER SURFER Fan Art by Josh Herman

Artist Josh Herman created a couple of amazingly cool pieces of Silver Surfer art that I think fans of the character will drool over. You can see a piece that he did previously here, but these new illustrations of the character are so much more polished and spectacular. This is the same guy who did the Groot concept art we posted earlier, and I would absolutely love to see this design brought to life on the big screen some day. This might just be my favorite Silver Surfer design that I've seen. This is definitely a better design than what we saw in the Fantastic Four sequel. Do you think Silver Surfer could carry a film of his own?

Gandalf Poster for THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES

Gandalf has an incredibly intense and slightly concerned look in this new character poster for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Ian McKellan's Gandalf has been the superglue that connects all of the Middle Earth movies together, and I can't imagine what these movies would have been like without him. He is Gandalf.

This is the second character poster that Warner Bros. has released for the "defining chapter" in The Hobbit trilogy. Yesterday we got a poster featuring Bilbo and Sting, which you can check out here. One of the main things that I'm looking forward to seeing in this movie is how it will bridge the gap to The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

The film will be released on December 17th. Here's the synopsis:

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.
Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.
As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

Sony Creating a ROBIN HOOD Cineverse — But Why?

Art by JessiBeans

I'm tired of using the phrases shared universe, cinematic universe, connected movies, and shared cinematic universe. I'm using "cineverse" from now on, and I hope other people start using it, too.

Sony is already creating a Spider-Man cineverse and feels the need to make one based on Robin Hood. Nothing is official just yet, but just that fact that this on track to becoming real just seems insane to me. Cory Goodman (The Black List) and Jeremy Lott (The Falling) have created a pitch titled Hood. THR reports that Sony is paying $1-2 million for this pitch, on top of the costs of making all these movies.

The general concept is to have separate movies for Little John, Friar Tuck, and Will Scarlett - with a team-up featuring Robin Hood and his Merry Men in somewhat the same template as The Avengers. Tonally, the movies will be heist and spy movies.

When readers complain about reboots and remakes I often cite Robin Hood as an example of something that has been retold over and over. If Goodman and Lott have created an idea that makes Sony want to invest millions in a possible film franchise, my hope is that it's mind-blowingly good and not just a case Avengers envy.

Short Doc on a Dying Comic Culture - COMIC BOOK HEAVEN

"Comic Book Heaven" is a wonderful short documentary that tells the story of an interesting character named Joe Leisner, who is the owner of a comic book store in Sunnyside, Queens, NY called Comic Book Heaven.

When I was growing up in the early 1990s, I spent a great deal of time in my local comic book shop reading comics and spending my money. I walked into that shop recently. and it just wasn't the same. So much had changed and it wasn't loaded with the amount of people that it used to be. These days you can read all of your comics and buy all your toys online. Even though comic book movies are blowing up in Hollywood and audiences are loving them, the small comic book stores are slowly dying off. This film gives us some insight on that as it was made during the lead-up to the closure of Joe's store.

The short was directed by E.J. McLeavey-Fisher, and what makes it so entertaining is Joe. The guy is a extremely colorful character, and it's fun listening to him talk and tell his stories. Please take the time to watch this. You won't be disappointed.

Robert Downey Jr. Confirms IRON MAN 4 Talks

Robert Downey Jr. has been making the press rounds recently promoting his new film The Judge, and the press can't help but ask him about Iron Man 4. Recently the actor said that he'd be in the movie if Mel Gibson directed it. That would definitely be awesome if it developed like that, but we'll see. He explained his statement during a recent AMA session,

"It was an offhanded remark to a journalist and friend. I have other projects in mind for Mel and I – sooner than later the Marvel Roster will be made public and all questions will be answered."

The actor also appeared on Ellen, and when she asked him if there would be an Iron Man 4 film, he revealed that he is in the middle of negotiations,

"I know there's going to be more Marvel movies, and they have big ideas of how to do it best… We're in the middle of negotiations, blah blah blah… Yes."

So there you have it! Marvel and Downey Jr. will most likely like re-team for Iron Man 4, and I couldn't be happier to hear it. Now if they could actually get Gibson on board to direct, that would be the icing on the cake.
