Fox Casts Their Harvey Dent in GOTHAM

$

Harvey Dent, the future villain Two-Face, has been cast in Fox's Gotham. The character will be played by Nicholas D’Agosto (Masters of Sex).

Dent is the man who becomes an idealistic assistant district attorney for Gotham City, vowing to eradicate the crime and corruption that has poisoned it. He becomes the white knight that the dark city needs. As you know, he eventually turns to the dark side and becomes Two-Face.

This will only be a guest star role on the series for now. The first season is currently focused on the origin of Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), who later becomes the Penguin. The report says that there is a series regular option for D'Agosto if the show is renewed for a second season, which I'm sure will happen.

I have been enjoying the show immensely so far, and I can only see it getting better from here.

Magic: The Gathering Style GAME OF THRONES Cards

It has been a very long time since I've played Magic: The Gathering. There was actually a time in high school when I used to play it all the time with my friends, and I enjoyed it. Then there came a point that I just didn't have the time to play it anymore, and that was that.

When the Game of Thrones series first started on HBO, one of my first thoughts was how cool it would be to see a card game like Magic: The Gathering based on that world. Jermtube had the same thought and actually started creating a series of his own fan-made cards, and they include several of your favorite characters. They all turned out great, and it would kind of be cool if this ended up being a real thing. Check them all out below.

Dwayne Johnson Attached to BAYWATCH Movie

dwayne-johnson-attached-to-baywatch-movie

Dwayne Johnson is loosely attached to star in Paramount Pictures' feature film adaptation of Baywatch. The studio seems to be looking to move forward with it quickly right now, and they've hired Justin Malen to do a rewrite of the script and Sean Anders and John Morris (We're the Millers) to direct the feature.

Johnson seems like he will take just about any acting gig. He's starred in great movies, and he's been in utterly crappy ones. Even though I'd hate to see him make another terrible movie, unfortunately it seems like he would fit right in with a movie like this.

The studio has been trying to get the movie off the ground for years, and it looks like they are finally making some headway. According to THR, at one point the story of the film was "set to revolve around a series of shark attacks that led the Baywatch team to investigate a drug-smuggling operation."

That was from a previous version of the script, but there's a chance that this could carry over into the version that Malen is working on. Only time will tell. What are you expecting to see from a movie like this?

"Let Her Go" Movie Cliché Supercut

The Huffington Post has released another fun movie supercut. This one includes several movie scenes with the line of dialogue… "Let her go." You don't ever really realize how many times you've actually heard this phrase in the movies, but when you see it played out one after another like this it's kind of crazy. What else is a guy going to say, though, if a girl they care about is being held against her will? Of course "let her go!" would be a person's first instinct. Unless you have a gun and you're confident enough in your skills to take a shot and kill the bastard without hurting the girl you're trying save.

2-new-tv-spots-for-disneys-big-hero-6-with-new-footage

Two new TV spots have been released for Disney's action-packed animated feature Big Hero 6. We get a little taste of that action in the TV spots below, which contain some fun new footage. Having already seen a about 30 minutes of footage from the film, I'm pretty confident that Disney has a huge hit on their hands. Big Hero 6 is unlike anything we've seen from them before, and fans are going to be blown away by what they created.

Big Hero 6 is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action.

Big Hero 6 was directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Bolt), and it will be released in theaters in 3D on November 7th, 2014.

MOUSE X Short Film Is a Sci-Fi Mystery Mind Trip

"Who are you if you're not the only you?"

Please take 15 short minutes out of your day to watch this fantastic sci-fi short film called "Mouse X." It's a mystery thriller that has some fun, unexpected twists and turns. The story follows a man named Anderson who wakes up in a building. He has absolutely no idea where he is or how he ended up there. As he tries to figure things out, he slowly discovers that the rooms around him contain a thousand clones of himself, and they all woke up in the same situation. "To escape he needs to outwit his 'selves' whilst overcoming the realization that he is not the only Anderson…"

The short was directed by Justin Tagg, and it's quite the mind trip. The director explores the perception of identity and explains in an interview with Short of the Week,

“I started with a thought which was just to help me get my head around my narrative. ‘How am I the only me?’ If I could be copied right now, every physical part of me… would that new person be me? Even for an instant? If not, you’d assume that something that makes me ‘me’ is not physical, not contained within my body and it might exist elsewhere. Where could that be?”

That all turned into the short you about to see. He went on to explain,

“The metaphor I used to describe it is that of a dice. Something that comes to represent the idea of chance. But a dice is not a random object. Is it? The ‘chance’ comes from our inability to know all of the parameters that might change the roll of the dice. In laboratory conditions would we not be able to roll a six every time? A dice is the illusion of chance. I began extending that to the world of Mouse-X and asking what if we could learn about human behavior using these laboratory conditions, at a really small almost molecular level and what that would mean for predicting it.”

He goes into some pretty deep stuff, but the short is great. He created an interesting, thought-provoking universe that I think many of you will enjoy, so check it out.

Superhero Rompers Make Cosplay Comfortable and Easy

We all love dressing up as superheroes, but let's be real. Sometimes cosplay is extraordinarily uncomfortable. Especially for women. Maybe it’s just as uncomfortable for dudes — I wouldn’t know. (Although, I was Batman for Halloween in first grade, and that was extremely comfortable. I was supposed to be Batgirl, but everyone just thought I was a little lesbian Batman.) But back to the topic at hand, tights under booty shorts is not the most comfortable look, and when you add in the high-heeled boots and the fact that most superhero-esque fabrics don’t breathe, you are looking at hours of discomfort. You really have to suffer to be badass.

But no more! Now you can cosplay the lazy/comfy way with these fun rompers from Think Geek. If you want to be Wonder Woman, Batgirl, or Supergirl (or Harley Quinn if you are feeling villainous/crazy), you can just roll out of bed and slip one of these on. These are the cosplay equivalent of Snuggies. But a lot more aesthetically pleasing.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE — Simon Kinberg talks Mystique and Beast, 80s Setting

What we know so far about X-Men: Apocalypse is that Bryan Singer is directing, James McAvoy might finally be bald as Professor X, and it will be set in the 80s. Many of the X-Men: First Class cast will be returning to reprise their roles, as it's a continuation of their storyline. Mystique played by Jennifer Lawrence has become a more central character in the X-Men universe since First Class — it’s likely because Lawrence is the star of the very popular Hunger Games movies, and is a better actress than previous Mystique, Rebecca RomijnCollider was able to talk with producer Simon Kinberg about the Days of Future Past sequel, and here’s what he said about Mystique’s relationships to other characters:

"The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in 'Days of Future Past,' so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in 'Apocalypse.’
“Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles. She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie too."

Kinberg on Apocalypse’s 80s setting:

“We’re having a lot of fun with the idea of the 80s.  It’s a decade that Bryan and I both grew up in and so the music, the style, the aesthetic, the legacy of 80s movies is something we’re really having fun with.”

Kinberg also said that the movie will have some very big set pieces, which seems like a given. You can read the full interview at Collider.

X-Men: Apocalypse will rein destruction May 18th, 2016 (USA).

Stan Lee Rants about How He Hates Facing Front

In the latest episode of "Stan's Rants" Stan Lee goes of on why he hates to face the front. The Marvel comics legend calls for a "no face the front of an elevator" movement. One of the arguments he makes is that he wants to know who he's going to die with if the elevator crashes. The rant is hilariously absurd. It's always fun to watch old people complain about things, and Lee is one of the most upbeat and lively old people around. I've been enjoying this little web-series. Some of his previous rants include superhero ice cream bars, long movie credits, and 3D movies. Enjoy the rants of Lee!

How STAR WARS REBELS Is Recapturing the “Shock Factor” of Lightsabers

The Star Wars Rebels one-hour TV movie premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel. This will lead into the series that will air on Disney XD starting on Monday, October 13th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Yesterday, Disney announced that the show has already been renewed for a second season. The fact that Rebels will be priming audiences and laying the groundwork for what to expect in the new trilogy is likely a more important factor in the decision than the early buzz, which has been very positive. Producer Simon Kinberg said in a previous interview,

"There are characters, vehicles, imagery that are introduced in the show before we've ever seen them in the movies, possibly including VII."

Like J.J. Abrams with Episode VII, the team behind Rebels is aiming to recapture the magic of the classic trilogy, and they’ve gone to painstaking lengths in their attempt to do so. In this video, CG supervisor Joel Aron takes us through the process of referencing footage from A New Hope to faithfully replicate the thickness, vibration, and brightness of the lightsaber effects of that time. The feeling and energy is so authentic that Roger Christian, who won an Oscar for his work on A New Hope, exclaims, “That’s impressive. This looks like… Star Wars.”

Remote Control WALL-E Is Nifty

Have you ever wanted to own your very own WALL-E? A year ago we posted a video of someone who built their own. But if you don’t have the time or skill to build one, you can now purchase your every own remote control WALL-E. This Pixar character has a good deal of articulation, lights, sounds, and works treads. Best of all he’s programable. At only $110 he’s the perfect gift for any WALL-E fan, and if you’re a fan, you can give one to yourself. I do wish he was dirtier and more worn-looking like he is in the movie, but that's a pretty minor nitpick.

Specs via Amazon:

  • WALL-E U Command,Very posable, Articulated hands , Head moves , Eyes lite up
  • Remote control joystick for easy movement, program multiple actions and press "GO"
  • Spins, does figure 8's, turns in reverse, goes forward
  • Talks , Lights up , Plays Music
  • It is 9 inches tall — 8 x 11 x 13.8 inches
  • Weighs 4 pounds
  • WALL-E uses 4 AA batteries
  • Remote uses 3 AA Batteries
Buy WALL-E at Amazon

Amazon says that the manufacturer is no longer making more so once these things sell out, they are are gone. There are other interactive WALL-E’s out there but not with the same number of features.

INTERSTELLAR - New TV Spot, Plus Why Theaters Are Upset with Nolan

interstellar-new-tv-spot-and-theaters-are-upset-with-nolan1

Paramount Pictures has released a new TV spot for Christopher Nolan's spectacular-looking space exploration film Interstellar. Apparently movie theaters aren't happy with Nolan at the moment because the studio announced that theaters that are still equipped to project 35mm and 70mm film will get the film two days early, on November 5th. A lot of cinemas are bringing in film projectors so that they can be a part of this. They are literally going back to older technology so that they can get a print of the film to show. Of course, some theaters can't afford to do that, like a small chain called Spotlight Theaters. Joe Paletta, CEO and founder of Spotlight said,

"This devalues what we've done. I can't afford to get the projectors out of the warehouse for two days, and I don't even have anyone to operate them."

Nolan has been a strong advocate of film, and he has a lot of clout with the studios and exhibitors, so he can basically do what he wants. According to THR, this sends a confusing message to theater owners as "nearly all of the country's cinemas have been converted to digital as Hollywood studios cease sending film prints." Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore said,

"Interstellar plays spectacularly, and we have a filmmaker who loves film, so we wanted to take a moment to showcase film as an important part of our heritage."

They basically just want to make the director happy so he makes more movies with them. I'm just excited to see the movie! Preferably in IMAX. I get what Nolan is doing, but it also isn't really fair to some of the smaller movie theaters that can't afford to do it. You can watch the TV spot below.

YouTube user AnselmoFanZero used his creatively awesome talents and abilities to create a custom made Iron Man gauntlet that fires a missile! What takes this thing to a whole other level of badassery is the fact that the rocket isn't fake. The missile that this gauntlet fires is a freakin' real live rocket! I love the caption that the creator put at the end of the video… "Not fake, REAL bang, tiny warhead, don't ask how, accept it :p" About a year ago we posted an Iron Man gauntlet with a laser, but this one is so much cooler.

Tim Dekay Cast in Marvel's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

$

Tim DeKay has been cast to play Senator Maynard Ward on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that’s a name that should be familiar to you. Remember last season on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when we saw Agent Ward’s supersad backstory so we wouldn’t hate him quite so much after he (SPOILER!) killed ALL THOSE PEOPLE? And it was really super sad. He was basically a cute little pitbull puppy abused until he won a lot of dog fights. (I still hate him, though. He killed so many people, and he has more agency than a dog.) Anyway, Ward’s path to the dark side began with his sadistic, abusive older brother named Maynard, who also forced him to abuse their other, even younger brother. He was a real peach, and so it’s no surprise that he joined the U.S. Senate.

Dekay, a really capable actor best known for playing Peter Burke on White Collar (and also bizarro Jerry on Seinfeld), will debut as the character in the sixth episode of the season, titled “A Fractured Rose.” I have a feeling he is going to be an antagonist for our scrappy little band of S.H.I.E.L.D. survivors/loyalists. In fact, there is some speculation that he is the deep-pocketed, Coulson-hating Senator who is backing General Glenn Talbot’s anti-S.H.I.E.L.D. campaign.

This is an interesting turn, and one that will probably lead to Agent Ward’s inevitable reintegration with the team. He will probably have keys and tips for dealing with the senator, and maybe that will make the team trust him again? If you are caught up with the show, you know that Agent Ward is currently locked up, possibly completely insane, and definitely super creepy. The show has been riskier and more entertaining so far this season, and I’m once again interested in what happens.

Mondo Reveals Art and Specs for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vinyl

Mondo has announced that they will be releasing the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack on vinyl, and they've revealed the art and specs for it. This is one of the best movies I've seen this year, and one of the things I loved about it most was the soundtrack and how that music played an important part of telling the story. That walkman and those songs were like characters themselves.

The art you see above was created by Tyler Stout, and one of the other cool things about the vinyl release is that each one will come randomly packed with one of the following 9 mini prints. They are currently taking pre-orders right here.

Below you will find the full press release:

MONDO, under license from Marvel Music and Hollywood Records, unleashes the cooler than cool 1970s soundtrack on vinyl from the blockbuster hit space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy." Pre-order for this deluxe vinyl package begins today and will be available for sale on MondoTees.com

The cover artwork from artist Tyler Stout is an appropriately epic collage of misfits featuring the instantly iconic heroes and villains of the summer's most beloved film. Tyler Stout continues his stellar work for Marvel films that began with Marvel’s Iron Man and has continued throughout the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Available for pre-rrder beginning today, Mondo is pleased to present a deluxe vinyl release of the Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Volume 1 soundtrack featuring original artwork by Tyler Stout. What makes this release deluxe, beyond Tyler's amazing artwork, is that every copy comes pressed on 180 Gram Purple Infinity Stone colored vinyl, and this is Mondo's very first screen-printed album packaging.

Printed by D&L Screenprinting, each jacket will have the look and feel of a Tyler Stout screen-printed poster. Also, as an additional bonus, each record comes with one of nine randomly inserted screen-printed handbills featuring various characters from the film.
Because of the hand-done nature of this project, both in the vinyl and packaging, we do not expect these to begin shipping until Early 2015. Please note that this is a pre-order before purchasing.

Tracklisting:

1. Hooked on a Feeling - Blue Swede

2. Go All the Way - Raspberries

Stephen King Says THE STAND Could Be More Than One Film

stephen-king-says-the-the-stand-could-be-more-than-one-film

I'm really excited about seeing Josh Boone's vision of Stephen King's The Stand. The guy has gushed about what a fan he is of King and this particular book. King himself even approves of what Boone is planning to with it. In a recent interview with MTV, the famous author talked about the big screen adaptation of The Stand, and he hints at a couple interesting things.

“I think that his take is terrific. And don’t count on it being one film. Because there’s talk about doing it in an entirely different and innovative way. And I don’t want to go into it because it’s Josh’s baby.”

It's awesome to hear that King has signed off on his work. One of the interesting points he makes here is that we shouldn't count on the adaptation being one film. Boone previously said that it would be one three hour long R-rated movie, but according to King, they miust be planning something different. The other thing King said that stuck out was that the story will be told in a "entirely different and innovative way."

That could mean a number of things, such as using something interactive to help in the storytelling process, or maybe continuing the story in some kind of series like what Ron Howard wanted to do with The Dark Tower. We'll eventually find out what is really going on, and as a fan of this novel, I'm incredibly excited to see what Boone and the studio are really planning for it. I would personally love to see it split up into two or three films, but even if that isn't the case, it sounds like Boone has a solid plan for bringing this story to life.

The Brotherhood Workshop has released a funny new Harry Potter stop-motion LEGO comedy short called "Umbridge's First Date." I absolutely hated this character in the story. I'm not a violent person, but if I went to Hogwarts I would have punched her right in the face. Maybe she wasn't always a loathsome person, though. This short presents an idea as to why Umbridge is the way she is today, and it's "because her first (and only) date, went about as wrong as conceivably possible." Concept Art Shows How Bryan Singer's X-MEN 3 Would Have Looked

Some insanely cool concept art from X-Men: The Last Stand has surfaced online, and you'll see some pretty spectacular visuals here. These really make me wish that Bryan Singer had directed that film. This film would have been better had anyone other than Brett Ratner directed it. Singer dropped out at the last minute to direct Superman Returns, which ended up not being Singer's best work. The art shows us the devastation and scope of Jean Grey’s (Famke Janssen) transmogrification into the Dark Phoenix. I like Singer's vision of how Dark Phoenix would have looked, and the destruction is so much more epic. I'm so glad Singer is back and making more X-Men movies.
