20th Century Fox has released an awesome new trailer for Matthew Vaughn's new film Kingsman: The Secret Service. The trailer features loads of new adrenaline-fueled footage, and it features a new song by Iggy Azaela. It also looks like there are still some unfinished special effects — at least I hope they are unfinished. Regardless, the flick still looks like it will be a ridiculously good time.
The movie is based on the comic book created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, and it tells the story of "a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius."
The movie basically comes from the same team of talent that gave us Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class. It stars Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton, and Samuel L. Jackson. Kingsman: The Secret Service hits theaters on February 13th, 2015.

Illustrator Phil Postma created this cool series of multiverse Astro Boy art that mashed the character together with several different movies, anime, and cartoons. Some of those mashups include Star Wars, Hellboy, the movies of Tim Burton, Men in Black, Mickey Mouse, and more. Here's a note from the artist:
"One day a long time ago, the artists in the studio I was working at for a time [decided] to put up a drawing challenge. This sort of thing happens once and a while among the population of a studio and this time it was 'Astro Boy'. Everybody did a version or two of the famous little robot but I could not stop at a couple and kept doing them. This is the result of that challenge back then and I recently decided to colour them up.
"I should mention that I used some 'Samurai Jack' backgrounds for some of them since I can't paint a BG's to save my life. I do this from time to time for a better presentation of my junk, but if I were to sell prints I [would] have to replace them with something else."

Studio Ghibli has released a new full U.S. trailer for their upcoming animated feature The Tale of Princess Kaguya. The movie is based on the Japanese folk tale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, which is a fantastic story in which an older couple find a tiny child inside a special bamboo stalk. She grows up to become extremely beautiful, and attracts all kinds of suitors. The animation is absolutely stunning, and it's a style that only Studio Ghibli could get away with doing these days.
The film was directed by Isao Takahata, and it stars the voices of Chloe Grace Moretz, Mary Steenburgen, James Caan, Darren Criss, Lucy Liu, Beau Bridges, Daniel Dae Kim, James Marsden, Oliver Platt, John Cho, George Segal, and Dean Cain. Here's the synopsis:
Legendary Studio Ghibli cofounder Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, Pom Poko) revisits Japan’s most famous folktale in this gorgeous, hand-drawn masterwork, decades in the making. We're on the verge of entering the holiday season, and what better way to ring it in than with a wonderfully frightening Christmas short film called Scary Santa. The story is set on Christmas Eve where "a young girl awakens to the sound of Santa in her living room. What she finds standing there is something she can barely comprehend. And she doesn't have time to, either…"
The creepy short was sent into us by the directors of the film, Dionysis and Manos Atzarakis. I thought it was great! It was shot well. I especially liked the tone, the way they built suspense, and their use of sound. Enjoy!
After years of waiting, Marvel is finally moving forward with Luke Cage as a series that will air on Netflix. Over the years, several actors have been interested in taking on the role, and one of the fan favorites was Thor co-star Idris Elba. He's expressed interest in the role, and a at one point a rumor hit that he had actually been up for it.
It wasn't meant to be, though. During a Reddit AMA interview last week, Elba was asked by fans what it would take to get Elba the job, and he revealed the the part has already been filled saying:
"Uh, I think there's an actor already signed on for it, fortunately or unfortunately."
It makes sense that Marvel wouldn't use him. After all, he already has his place in the Marvel universe as Heimdall. I'm sure that played a role in the final decision made by Marvel. He didn't go into any detail on who was cast, but there's an actor out there somewhere who will appear as Luke Cage in the Marvel universe, and I guess we can look forward to hearing who that is in the near future.

The Walking Dead starts its fifth season in a few short weeks, and I can't wait for the intensity that awaits! While we wait for the show to start back up we have three pieces of unused poster art for the series to share with you. They come from a book coming out called The Walking Dead: The Poster Collection, Volume II. They posters will bring back some memories from the Season 3 and Season 4 story arc.
The illustrations you see here come from MTV, and they feature the Governor, Michonne, and a portrait of a nasty looking walker. The posters in the book are removable so you can take them out and hang them up on your walls if you want.
For some reason Liam Neeson is making Taken 3, and today we have our first look at him back in the role of Bryan Mills. In the next chapter of the action franchise, Mills becomes the hunted after he's framed for the murder of someone close to him. Neeson tell USA Today:
"I have to go on the run, I'll put it that way, from the not-so-lawful types and the lawful authorities. Bryan Mills served his country faithfully, but now even they are after him. They must not like me."
He then adds:
"This time, no more traveling. If my daughter was 'taken' again on a trip, Bryan Mills would have to be certifiably locked up for bad parenting."
Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, and Forest Whitaker co-star in the film being directed by Olivier Megaton. Taken 3 is set to be released in theaters on January 9th.
I loved the first movie, the second one wasn't really that good, and I imagine this third one won't be any better, but we'll see.
I just showed my kids the The Mighty Ducks for the first time recently, and they seemed to enjoy it. Now they want to be hockey players. I was surprised to learn that over the weekend there was a Mighty Ducks reunion for the 20th anniversary of the release of D2: The Mighty Ducks. I seriously can't believe it's been 20 years since the sequel came out! That makes me feel really old. The cast came together and posted photos of the event on Instagram, but one of the best ones was when they got together to form the famous "Flying V" from the movie. The photo above came with the follow caption:

A new report has surfaced giving us details on the look of Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will also carry over into the standalone film. It was seemingly confirmed three months ago that Jason Momoa will be playing the character, but since that confirmation the actor has still played very coy about it.
Schmoes Know is the site that got a scoop in regards to Aquaman's look saying that "he’s going to look like a surfer essentially with tribal tattoos and all that jazz." That definitely sounds like a look that director Zack Snyder would want for the character, especially considering Momoa will play the character.
The site also offers up some information regarding Aquaman's rumored presence in Man of Steel. Remember the scene in the movie after Superman saves all those men on the oil rig and falls into the water? At one point he wakes up and sees whales swimming above him.
The site has apparently received confirmation that "Aquaman sent the whales to save Supes and make sure he was okay, which makes sense considering we never actually see how Supes gets back to shore in the film. He sees the whales and then it cuts to him walking on land."
I don't recall hearing that rumor before, but it's pretty damn cool.
Khoi Pham and Jeremy Colwell teamed up to create this radical piece of Batgirl art. I've always liked Batgirl, and with Supergirl getting her own TV series here in the near future, maybe there's a chance Batgirl could get a show of her own.

We've got another Big Hero 6 TV spot for you to check out today. This one spotlights the kabuki mask-wearing villain of the story, Yokai. This guy looks like he's going to be a great villain, and it will be interesting to see who it turns out to be. Having seen a good amount of footage from the film already, I have my theories, but there's no point in spitting them out here because the movie hasn't even come out yet. It's set to be released November 7th.
The talented director Alfonso Cuarón has made only 7 movies in 25 years. Some of his best known films include Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men, and Gravity. He certainly has a way with working the camera, and he manages to pull off some incredible shots. One of the things that he's best known for are his brilliant long takes. Edgar Martinez created an impressively made video that pays tribute to the director's work.

Gotham premiered on FOX last night and it was awesome! That was the second time I had watched the pilot episode, and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. I'm really happy with the series, and the network has released a promo spot for the second episode called "Selina Kyle." Here's the description that came along with it:
"Detectives Gordon and Bullock investigate a child trafficking ring preying on Gotham's street kids, including Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). Meanwhile, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) resurfaces in the countryside and begins to make his way back to GOTHAM, leaving victims in his wake."

I've got an amusing comic strip for you to check out called The Plan, and it stars the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy. In it, Joker is trying to concoct a plan to wreak havoc on Gotham, but things backfire on him. The comic was created by Ludovic Sallé of Secret Diary of a Villain, which is a website dedicated to Poison Ivy.

Not only are the little comics entertaining, but the art is fantastic.
It looks like Quentin Tarantino might be trying to lure Viggo Mortensen into his new western The Hateful 8. According to NY Daily News the actor was spotted with the director “boisterously" discussing a role for him for The Hatful Eight at the Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca.
According to a witness, "the pair had what appeared to be scripts in front of them and seemed to be discussing characters." The filmmaker also was overheard "enthusing to Mortensen about a 'ruthless gang leader' role."
There's no confirmation of any of this, but holy crap… if Mortensen ends up in the movie that would be amazing! I would absolutely love to see Mortensen in a western directed by Tarantino. This is a very exciting rumor, and I want it to be true so bad.
"The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere."
Longtime Tarantino collaborators Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell are reportedly already attached to the project, which is set to go into production in November.
Captain America: The Winter Solider is one of my favorite movies of the year. It was incredibly well made. Joe and Anthony Russo did an amazing job and I can't wait to see what they do for the sequel. Even Screen Junkies couldn't really tear it apart in their Honest Trailer. Cinema Sins on the other hand didn't seem to like it as much as the rest of the world, and they released an "Everything Wrong" video that included the following caption:
Sorry America, we did not love this movie like most of you did. On an unrelated note, we also found TONS of sins in this movie; way more than you were probably expecting.
So they basically nitpick the hell out of it for over 20 minutes. Really?! 20 minutes!? That's ridiculous.

The reoccurring complaint that litters our comments section whenever a new X-Men film comes out is, “Why can’t they use the classic costumes?” And when they say “classic,” they often mean the ‘90s versions of the mutant characters that have been etched into our brains thanks to the animated TV series that most of us grew up watching (Sorry, ’60s and ‘70s X-Men). While you may not see those costumes replicated in a feature film anytime soon, you can at least see those classic looks on your shelf with these X-Men Classic Pop! Vinyl Figures.

Marvel Studios have done a fantastic job of translating the iconic costumes for their properties that are faithful to the comics yet believable for the universe they have created. Fox has gone a different route for their films, opting to outfit the X-Men in leather or futuristic armor. Perhaps since X-Men: Apocalypse will take place during the ‘80s, they’ll take advantage of the wild fashions of that decade and finally be able to justify these costumes that fans have been anxious to see on screen.

Showtime recently acquired the rights to the documentary feature Pauly Shore Stands Alone. It basically follows the life of an aging and struggling comedian. Pauly Shore found his 15-minutes of fame back in the 1990s with films such as Encino Man, Son in Law, In the Army Now, and Bio Dome. Since he made those movies the comedian has just been trying to get by, and this doc gives us an interesting look at him trying to climb his way back into the spotlight.
Pauly Shore Stands Alone is a true-life road documentary. The camera follows Pauly on a snowy mid-western comedy club tour, while Pauly deals with moving his ailing mother, Mitzi Shore, out of her West Hollywood mansion of 40 years.
The doc will premiere on Showtime on Thursday night, December 4th 2014.
