The latest promo for CW's The Flash is called "The Explosion Interview" and it features some new footage from the show and includes interviews with cast members Carlos Valdes and Danielle Panabaker, who discuss the big explosive event in the story.

The interview also teases some of the other heroes that will appear in the series such as Valdes' Cisco Ramon, AKA Vibe, and Robbie Amell's Ronnie Raymond, who is the fiancé to Panabaker's Caitlin Snow, who is one half of the hero Firestorm.

The series is set to premiere on October 7th. The pilot episode they showed at Comic-con was great, and I can see a lot of fans getting hooked on the series.

Must Watch Animated Short - MORTAL BREAKUP INFERNO

This incredible and crazy animated short is called "Mortal Breakup Inferno." The plot is described as "an angry girlfriend's infernal hunt of the man who broke her heart," and holy crap… it is awesome. There's a lot of humor to be found in pain, and this movie does a great job of bringing that out. I'm sure we all know someone who has gone through a bad breakup, maybe you've even gone through one yourself. This short exaggerates that experience, but at the same time, this is kind of what it really is like. They really nail those emotions!

The the film was created by Paula Assadourian, Marlène Beaube, Débora Cruchon, Maxime Delalande, Thibaud Gayral, and Batiste Perron as their graduate film project at the animation school Gobelins

A couple of days ago we learned that Hayley Atwell would appear as Agent Carter in the first episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Today we have our first photo of the character along with the Howling Commandos! How cool is that?! That is Kenneth Choi and Neal McDonough reprising their roles as Jim Morita and Dum Dum Dugan from Captain America: The First Avenger

The first episode of the new season is titled "Shadows" and it's set to premiere September 23rd on ABC. Here's the synopsis that was previously released:

“Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources. But that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?”

RESIDENT EVIL CLASSIC and REVELATIONS 2 - Getting Back To Basics

$

To say Resident Evil 6 was a disappointment for fans is an understatement, however, there is a silver lining here, as Capcom has seemingly taken that critical failure to heart and charted a new course for the franchise. That said, its not really a new course, its more of a reunion with the gameplay that made the franchise the behemoth it is today. While just one would be worthwhile, we are actually getting two games that harken back to those classic times, and those are Resident Evil Classic and Resident Evil Revelations 2.

Let’s talk about Classic first. The decision to remaster the original Resident Evil for next gen consoles does two things. One, it gives the series faithful a nice sign that the publisher is coming out of the delusional fantasy it's been living in that said we wanted more action in our horror games. Sure, Resident Evil 4 was heralded as a new classic for the franchise, but while it leaned on new combat mechanics, it still didn't move as far away from its core gameplay as 5 and 6 did. While I enjoyed 5 a great deal, it was more for its co-op campaign and less for the scares that I’m used to from the series. Don’t even get me started on 6.

Two, it gives a new generation of players a chance to experience a genre that has been MIA for quite some time now. Evil Within is the only pulse the genre has really had lately, as the Silent Hills have been steadily going down in quality (though Del Toro and Kojima should resuscitate that nicely as well) and games like Dead Space are again more focused on action than survival. Though there was at least one bright spot in the franchise recently, and that brings us to our next point.

The one promising entry in recent years is also getting a sequel — Resident Evil Revelations 2. Originally released exclusively for the 3DS and then ported to consoles, the first game starred fan favorite Jill Valentine, while Revelations 2 will feature the return of another fan favorite, Claire Redfield. Revelations 2 will also see the debut of Moira Burton, daughter of Mr. Red Vest himself, Barry Burton. The official description of the game brings back memories of one of my personal favorites Code Veronica, but take a look for yourself.

The beginning of the Resident Evil Revelations 2 tale sees fan favorite Claire Redfield make a dramatic return to the horrors that haunted her in the past .Survivor of the Raccoon City incident depicted in previous Resident Evil games, Claire now works for the anti-bioterrorism organisation Terra Save. Moira Burton, new recruit and daughter of Resident Evil legend Barry Burton, is attending her welcome party for Terra Save when unknown armed forces storm the office. Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious and awaken later to find themselves in a dark and abandoned detention facility. Working together, they must find out who took them and to what sinister end. With the terrifying Afflicted enemies waiting around every dark corner, players will need to use their ammo and weapon supply wisely, in classic survival horror style. Will Claire and Moira make it out alive and discover what’s led to them being taken to this remote island? Who else will they come across? A story of twists and turns will have players guessing the next step at every turn.

The episodic structure of the game is also intriguing. The game will release in 4 parts, distributed weekly. You can also get the whole season package which will net you some additional gameplay, or grab the retail release later on. Each episode will be $5.99, and will be available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It will be interesting to see if the concept that works so well for Telltale’s Walking Dead works for Capcom here, but I for one am a fan of the format. You can catch the teaser for Revelations 2 below, and some screens for the game as well.

Geek Culture Vector Art and Interview with Artist Justin Currie

Justin Currie is a phenomenal artist whose work has been featured many times here on GeekTyrant (that you can see more of here and here). His work has a unique and amazing feel that I have never seen anywhere else. His is a style that uses sharp, straight edges with bright colors, making his art feel industrial, yet alive. He has achieved this look by working in Vector, an art program that uses geometric shapes and is typically used to make company logos. Some of his more famous works are his reimaginings of the Avengers and Batman as robots. Justin attended SLCC Comic Con where I had the privilege to interview him and get to know him and his art.

First off, what is Vector?

"It is just a different format of computer graphics. Most people paint in Photoshop and that’s known as raster and with raster things can only get so big before they get pixelated. Vector is math based so you can make your image as big as you want and it will stay crystal clear and sharp because the image just recalculates to the size, which is why it’s used for logos. Not many artists use it because it is kind of a stiff program, but because I worked as a graphic designer for so long I got good at the program. I think I am one of the few artists that does everything in Vector."

Are the sharp angles and straight lines due to the program or is that just your style?

"It is the program, Vector is pretty stiff. You don't get the fluidity you would get out of photoshop, so I have a lot of sharp, jaggedy pieces, but when I pile them up enough it looks organic."

Are there any comics or video games you are a fan of that inspire what your next project will be?

"I’m always keeping on top of what is coming out. I love development diaries of the next big game. Probably Final Fantasy VII I quote as my biggest inspiration for getting into this in the first place, but Deviant Art and GeekTyrant and other daily inspiration sites are where I gather most of my inspiration along with movies, TV, games or anything I think is cool I just kind of lock it away for later."

I see some of your Ninja Turtle work, did you grow up watching Ninja Turtles?

"Huge Ninja Turtles fan!"

Do you have a Favorite Turtle?

"Michelangelo."

Yup, me to! *Hi Five*

So, why robots?

"So, I saw an animated short, I think its called Shanghai Batman, it was this ancient Shanghai Batman redesign that I loved. The redesigns of the characters I thought was the coolest thing ever. After seeing that short I really wanted to do a redesign of characters from the Batman universe. I've seen steampunk Batman and cyber Batman so playing out my strengths I decided to do a robot Batman. Once that got onto the Internet, it went everywhere, it’s one of my most viral pieces I’ve ever done. From there I got a flood of requests to do other character robot redesigns, so I did the Ninja Turtles, then I was hired to do the Avengers and the Pokemon starters. I love to build them and people love to see them."

Currie has become one of my favorite artists on the Internet. He also has a book coming out in November to look out for that you can purchase here. I love Justin’s imagination and style and I feel very lucky to have met him. You can check out more of his art on his Deviant Art page and at Chasing Artwork.

Sylvester Stallone to Direct RAMBO: LAST BLOOD?

$

We've been hearing about a fifth Rambo film for a few years now, and Sylvester Stallone is ready to jump in a get it made! Not only that but it looks like the movie has a title.

According to Comingsoon, the movie will be called Rambo: Last Blood, and Stallone is planning to direct it! The action franchise started with the title Rambo: First Blood so it's only appropriate to end it with Last Blood. There's no official confirmation of this, but it's not that hard to believe.

The 2008 film John Rambo turned out awesome, and I'm actually kind of thrilled that we are getting one last movie. Back in 2009 a synopsis was released for a fifth movie called Rambo: The Savage Hunt that would have basically been an adaptation of a book called Hunter. You can read more about that here. It's been awhile since that news was released so there's a good chance that the direction they are taking the story has changed. In the end, Rambo is going to be running around violently killing lots of bad people. Hopefully Stallone doesn't turn it into a PG-13 movie like he let them do with The Expendables 3.

Andrew Garfield Says Spider-Man Is "Immaterial" to SINISTER SIX Movie

Cabin in the Woods co-writer and director Drew Goddard is hard at work developing the Sinister Six movie for Sony Pictures. The movie will bring together a team of villains who are going to put Spider-Man through even more hell than he's already been through. You'd think they'd feel a little bad for killing the love of his life, and that maybe he's already gone through enough, but nope.

Andrew Garfield is expected to return for at least one more movie… The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which comes out in 2018. But, I assumed he would have a place in the Sinister Six movie. After all, there needs to be some kind of hero in a movie full of villains, right?

While the actor was promoting his new movie 99 Homes, The Toronto Sun asked him about Spider-Man and the Sinister Six, and he gave an interesting answer:

"I know more than I’m allowed to say right now. I can say I’m really excited about Drew Goddard, who’s going to be writing and directing The Sinister Six movie. And whether I’m involved in that or not is kind of immaterial."

Immaterial? Really? It's Spider-Man, it's hard to believe that he may not be involved with this. I just don't see how Spider-Man is immaterial to a Sinister Six movie. I don't think there's a comic book storyline out there with the Sinister Six that doesn't include Spider-Man, so if this is the case maybe they are steering far away from the comics. The thing is, every good film needs a strong protagonist. If it's not Spider-Man, who could it be?

Now this quote could also be interpreted another way, as well. While talking to our other writers about it, they point out that the actor could just be saying that the movie is going to be a good film no matter what, and that he may just be referring to himself as an actor being unimportant to how the film as a whole turns out, which makes sense.

Stephen King's THE THINGS THEY LEFT BEHIND Headed to CBS

CBS has landed another Stephen King series that will be based on a short story he wrote back in 2003 called The Things They Left Behind. The network is currently running the series Under the Dome, which has been a really solid and successful show.

According to Deadline, the new series will tell the story of "two investigators carrying out the unfinished business of the dead." There's a lot more to it than that though, and the original story doesn't follow two investigators, so maybe they are changing some things around. Here's a description of the actual short story to give you a better idea of where the plot is grounded:

Almost a year after 9/11, strange things start happening to narrator Scott Staley, who—at the time of the attacks—is employed at 'Light and Bell Insurance' on the 110th floor of the World Trade Center. Not only is Scott unable to get rid of his survivor's guilt (on 9/11 he followed an inner voice that told him to take a day off to enjoy the sun), but things belonging to his late colleagues start to appear in his apartment. A pair of sunglasses, a baseball bat, a farting cushion – Scott can easily identify them all. After convincing himself that they are no illusion and that others can see them, he tries throwing them away, yet they reappear after his return home.

He confides in Paula, a neighbor, who offers to stow away one of the things. It triggers the most horrible nightmare of Paula's life, recreating in her mind the last minutes of its proprietor. Paula immediately returns the object, but makes Scott understand his mission: he must give the things to the victims' immediate family – and on seeing the joy on their faces, he feels his guilt slowly fade away.

This could really be a fantastic series, and to make things even better you might be happy to hear that executive producer of Arrow, Greg Berlanti, and writer of Abraham Lincoln Vampire HunterSeth Grahame-Smith, will be developing the series for the network.

I love the stories that King creates, and it's awesome to be seeing so many of them brought to life for our entertainment, and for people who don't like to read.

Zack Snyder has released an official photo of the Batmobile from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and damn, this is one sick looking ride. It's definitely one of the most badass Batmobile designs I've seen in a Batman movie. I can't wait to see it in action!

Snyder included a caption with the photo that said, "Here’s a real picture of the #Batmobile." It was followed shortly by another tweet saying:

Photo Credit @ClayEnos RT: iPhone photography is great but some things deserve more. (Nikon D800 ISO 500 24mm f/11 1/25th sec) Thanks Clay!

This is a way better photo than the ones that leaked earlier. The studio should have just released a photo like this before they brought the Batmobile out in a public place.

There's no doubt that Batman v Superman is going to be loaded with stunning eye candy. I'm waiting to see how this story plays out, though.

14-year-old Emily DiPrimio is a huge horror movie fan, and she set out to make her own original '80s throwback slasher film called Carver. She started her journey last year when she was only 13-years-old and launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund it.

She surpassed her fundraising goal, shot the film, and is now in the post-production process of development. She's released a trailer for the fun looking movie which is described as "a story about revenge and redemption" filled with "plenty of scares and we promise, NO CGI BLOOD!”

To follow the film's production, head on over to Emily's Blog on the film's website where she talks about the process of making the movie. Her dad is helping her out with the film, and there's a lot of heart behind the project. It will be cool to watch the final product. I especially love that she is making it a point to not take the cheap and easy way out and use CGI blood. She's definitely a true horror fan with a deep appreciation of the classics.

Seth MacFarlane has cast Morgan Freeman in Universal Pictures' Ted 2. He will join Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried in the production. According to Variety, Freeman will play an iconic civil rights lawyer who is brought into the story when Ted needs to resolve some legal issue. Freeman is such an incredible actor, and it seems like he has a sense of humor so he should have fun with this.

MacFarlane will be writing and directing and voicing the vulgar teddy bear. He was looking to get a high profile actor to join the project, and it looks like he found him. You can bet that there will also be a several cameos featuring pop culture icons and A-list actors. Knowing what MacFarlane has done in the past, these actors are sure to be taken out of their comfort zone.

The movie is currently shooting in Boston.

THE WALKING DEAD to Eventually Introduce Craziest Villain Yet

$

It looks like The Walking Dead will eventually introduce one of the scariest villains in the comics into the TV series. Executive producer David Alpert recently did an interview with AMC to discuss some of the plans that the zombie series has in store for future episodes. In the interview his excitement reveals that that the character known as Negan will probably make his appearance sooner rather than later, which is awesome!

When Alpert was asked about elements that the series has included that he wishes Robert Kirkman had thought about and included when writing the comics, he completely bypasses the question and goes on to say what he can't wait to incorporate saying:

"It’s more like things in the comic that I can’t wait to get to. I cannot wait until we introduce Negan. He is just like the coolest fucking character on the planet. You thought the Governor was bad news?"

Who knows when exactly he'll pop up, but that fact that they are going to bring him in the series is great. This is a much different answer to the one Kirkman gave last month when he was asked by Daily Dead when the character would come into play. This is what he said:

"Not really. At the pace that we’re going, we’re talking about somewhere like Season 12. We certainly don’t think that far ahead about what’s going to be on the TV show."

It doesn't sound to me like Alpert is going to wait another 7 years to bring Negan in, so maybe Kirkman was just throwing everyone off by saying what he said. I seriously doubt that the character will come into play next season, but I'm sure we'll see him before season 12. Nothing is confirmed, but of course they're going to eventually bring him in!

For those of you not familiar with the character, he's a foul-mouthed Class-A asshole who is a leader of a group called Saviors. He is the primary antagonist in the comic series. "He uses his authority and resources to subjugate other communities into paying tribute to The Saviors, in exchange for protection against zombies." Here's a heartwarming short film called 8.9 that is set after a big earthquake hits. "A man wakes up to find out he is trapped under piles of debris and wreckage. When [he] is about to give up, he discovers that he is not alone, there is somebody else in there with him. Together they will try to survive this hopeless situation." This is a beautifully animated film that was a graduation project for Gobelins school of animation. This school tends to pump out amazing and entertaining shorts to watch. It was directed by Pedro Vergani, and I hope you like it. The film shows that there are bright things that can be found even when you're in the darkest situations.

UPDATE: The photo above is a fake. You can see the actual image below that features director Peter Jackson in place of Thorin.

The latest photo from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies features Thorin (Richard Armitage) seemingly being suited up for battle by Thranduil (Lee Pace), and Bard (Luke Evans) is just standing there in envy thinking, "Is Thranduil going to dress me too?"

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

The epic conclusion to The Hobbit trilogy will come on December 17th. It's going to be a sad and glorious day because there's a good chance we'll never see another new movie set in Middle Earth again after that.
