GAME OF THRONES Actress and Other Teens React to Original Nintendo

A lot of us grew up playing the original Nintendo Entertainment System, but there's a whole generation of teens out there who have never experienced the awesomeness of the NES. The Fine Brothers introduced several teens to the console including Game of ThronesMaisie Williams. It's kind of fun to see their reactions. I busted out my old NES for my kids a few years ago, it worked for about a week until it broke for good.

SUPERGIRL TV Series Confirmed by Greg Berlanti

A few days ago, a rumor his the net that there is a Supergirl TV series in development over at DC Entertainment. Today we have confirmation from Arrow and The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti that the series is indeed on its way.

CBR had a chance to talk with him briefly at PaleyFest 2014. He wasn't allowed to talk about any details on the project but he did say,

"We're just starting to work on it. We haven't gone to the networks yet, so. I'll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment."

In our initial report, we heard TV producer Michael Green was developing the show, but it's actually going to be Berlanti, and he will be helped by writer Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family).

According to Deadline, this will be a "new interpretation of the the Supergirl character and her story." They also say that the Supergirl show doesn’t have a name yet, and that it won't be called Supergirl

Like Berlanti said, the show is in the early stages of development, and it's not far along enough to shop around to the networks. According to reports though it won't end up on The CW.

Pixar Movie Supercut Explores the Use of Color

This is a one-minute movie supercut called "ROYGBIV" that explores the use of color in the films of Pixar. Those movies include footage from Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Brave, and Monsters University. The video was created by Rishi Kaneria, and it's really interesting to see how the color design of these films work with each other. Also the title of the video corresponds with the colors presented, which of course are the colors of the rainbow. Thanks to /Film for the tip!

23 JUMP STREET Moves Into Development

I never thought I'd been excited about the fact that there is going to be a 23 Jump Street, but I am! 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street were both hilariously awesome, and the fact that we will see a third movie is exciting.

The last movie ended with Ice Cube's Captain Dickson saying to Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's Schmidt and Jenko, "You two sons of bitches are going to medical school!" The film then teased more than twenty funny, faux sequels.

Deadline reports that Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street) will return to write the script. There's no word on whether it will actually take place in medical school, but why in the hell wouldn't they use that as a starting point!? That could be great!

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be overseeing the script development, but there's no word on if they will come back to direct it or not. I hope they do because they know exactly how to handle this franchise.

I know the image above is for the fake 25 Jump Street movie, but they didn't have one for 23.

A REAL STEEL Sequel Has Secretly Been in Development

I surprisingly enjoyed Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman's robot boxing movie Real Steel. I went into it with low expectations and came out completely entertained. In a recent interview with Comingsoon, Levy revealed that he has been secretly working on a sequel since the first movie was released.

"We have been quietly developing a sequel to Real Steel for three and a half years. We've come up with some great scripts but Hugh and I would only make it if the plot feels fresh, but also the character journeys feel fresh, and we've found both but never at the same time. It's ongoing. I know the clock is ticking. That movie, weirdly, for a movie that did very well globally–it did okay domestically–but the love for Real Steel remains kind of unique as far as rabid fans who ask me all the time for another one. Hugh and I love that movie so if we can crack it, we'll make it, but I have this sense that we better make that happen soon or frankly, the audience may not be there in the same way. So we shall see."

This is one of those movies where I don't need to see a sequel. One movie was good enough for me, but If they did end up making Real Steel 2, I'd show up to watch it. Levy is right though, if they do make a sequel they better do it soon.

Levy is currently in post-production on Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which is set to be released on Christmas.

Drax Will Have "Significant" Role in AVENGERS 3

drax-will-have-significant-role-in-avengers-3

According to a wrestling website called PW ManiaDave Bautista is currently in the process of restructuring his contract with Marvel to allow him to get more money due to the huge success of Guardians of the Galaxy. In the process they specifically mention that the actor is slated to appear as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and that he will also have a "significant" role in The Avengers 3.

Bautista is a perfect fit for the character Drax, and he seriously disappeared in the role. He brought some hilarious humor and emotional heart to the character, and I think it surprised a lot of people.

I've been speculating for some time that the third Avengers film would include a team-up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. So if Drax will be in the movie, it's only safe to assume the rest of the team will be in it as well. There's no official confirmation of this, but it makes sense that these two superhero groups would come together and battle big bad Thanos.

The Avengers 3 hasn't been officially announced yet, but common… we know it's going to happen. I think it's safe to say that it will be the capstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Three.

I believe that Avengers 3 will follow the Infinity Gauntlet storyline from Marvel Comics. It features several superheroes from around the galaxy coming together to defeat the Mad Titan Thanos, who has used the Infinity Stones to basically become a god. Drax plays a very very important role in this storyline, so I got pretty excited when the site said he would have a "significant" role in the movie. That tells me this very well could be the story Marvel will move forward with.

SPOILERS Ahead for those who haven't read the comics:

This could also implement a story arc called "Annihilation" in which Drax actually ends up killing Thanos. Killing Thanos is one of the main reasons that Drax even exists. It's definitely in Marvel's best interest to keep Bautista around because the fans love him.

Again, this is all just a rumor since there has been no confirmation, but it makes complete sense to me that this is how it could play out. Avengers 3 will be released sometime in 2018.

Robin Williams and Johnny Depp Could Have Teamed Up for Neil Gaiman's GOOD OMENS

robin-williams-and-johnny-depp-could-have-teamed-up-for-neil-gaimans-good-omens

Until today, I had no idea that Robin Williams was looking to be a part of an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Good Omens. This might be old news for some of you, but I just found out that the production would have teamed Williams up with Johnny Depp and re-team him with The Fisher King director Terry Gilliam!

A fan asked Gaiman on Twitter if this was all true recently and the writer simply replied with, "Yes." This would have made for such a great movie, and it's a shame that it never happened. As you know, Gilliam has a very unconventional brand of filmmaking, and because of that Good Omens struggled to secure funding so it was eventually shelved indefinitely.

Maybe one day the movie will eventually happen, but it's just incredibly sad that Williams won't be a part of it if it does. For those of you not familiar with the story, here's the book description:

There is a distinct hint of Armageddon in the air. According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (recorded, thankfully, in 1655,before she blew up her entire village and all its inhabitants, who had gathered to watch her burn), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, the Four Bikers of the Apocalypse are revving up their mighty hogs and hitting the road, and the world's last two remaining witch-finders are getting ready to fight the good fight, armed with awkwardly antiquated instructions and stick pins. Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. . . . Right. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan.

Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon -- each of whom has lived among Earth's mortals for many millennia and has grown rather fond of the lifestyle -- are not particularly looking forward to the coming Rapture. If Crowley and Aziraphale are going to stop it from happening, they've got to find and kill the Antichrist (which is a shame, as he's a really nice kid). There's just one glitch: someone seems to have misplaced him. . . .

First published in 1990, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's brilliantly dark and screamingly funny take on humankind's final judgment is back -- and just in time -- in a new hardcover edition (which includes an introduction by the authors, comments by each about the other, and answers to some still-burning questions about their wildly popular collaborative effort) that the devout and the damned alike will surely cherish until the end of all things.

Geek Parody Music Videos - "Talk Nerdy to Me" and "Zelda Jiggle"

geek-parody-music-videos-talk-nerdy-to-me-and-zelda-jiggle

We've got a couple of really fun geek parody music videos for you to check out. They come from YouTube user K-Face Rules, and if they keep doing what they're doing they have the potential to be big geek internet personalities. There's a lot of talent here and I think the lyrics are clever. It's just great geek entertainment. The first video is called "Talk Nerdy to Me" and it's a parody of Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty to Me." The second video is called "Zelda Jiggle" and it's a parody of Derulo's "Wiggle." Apparently they like Derulo's beats. I hope you enjoy the videos!

Will Orlando Bloom Return for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

In case you forgot, yes… Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is still happening. It's called Pirates of the Caribbean movie - Dead Men Tell No Tales, and Johnny Depp is already set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Now it looks like he may be joined by Orlando Bloom, who played William Turner in the franchise. Bloom starred in the the first three installments of the Disney franchise, but wasn’t a part of the fourth movie, On Stranger Tides.

Over the weekend at Oz Comic Con, the actor was asked if he would be in the next movie, and he said, "There have certainly been some discussions about it and I’m open to it."

It's not clear if he's in active negotiations to return, but if there's a place for him in the story, then they'll bring him on if they need to. He went on to talk about his experience working on the first three movies saying,

"That whole experience working with Johnny (Depp) and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity (to be in the first Pirates) was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."

Lord of the Rings put Bloom on the map, and he was a very successful actor when he was making these Pirates films. He has since worked with Peter Jackson on the Hobbit films, but outside of these franchises the actor hasn't made many other movies that hit big. I wonder if it's because he has been typecast.

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are directing the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and it's scheduled for release on July 7th, 2017.

New Photos of the Badass Looking Batmobile from BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Two new photos of the Batmobile from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice have popped up online, thanks to amaro13, giving us our first real look at the incredibly cool vehicle. As much as I loved the Tumbler from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight films, this new version of the Batmobile is slightly more badass. One of the reasons why I like it better is because it looks more like a Batmobile than a military urban assault vehicle, but it's a good mix of both. The design also has some similarities to the Arkham Knight video game Batmobile.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be shooting at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit this week, and that's where these photos were taken. Thanks to Batman-News for the heads up on these!

Yesterday, and ariel view of the vehicle was posted by Instagram user—mole6674

Keanu Reeves and Roland Emmerich Team Up For NEW ANGELES Series

keanu-reeves-and-roland-emmerich-team-up-for-new-angeles

Keanu Reeves has teamed up with director Roland Emmerich to develop and produce a new TV series called New Angeles. They've hired Gregg Hurwitz, a New York Times bestselling author, to write the project. He's also written stories for Marvel and DC.

The show will be set in the future, and the story is "based around a young man who escapes the mundane reality of his life by entering an exciting virtual reality world called New Angeles. Once down the rabbit hole, he adopts a new identity, becoming the man he was always destined to be, and in the process, unlocking the keys to a mystery that has real world consequences for him and his family."

There's definitely similar plot elements in the story that we've seen in other movies, like Reeves' own film The Matrix, but I think it has the potential to be a good series.

Emmerich will direct the pilot episode and remain involved in the series as an executive producer. The Independence Day director is currently in post-production on a film called Stonewall, which is about the historic riots that took place on the streets of New York City in 1969.

Reeves on the other hand will be a producer on the series. He just wrapped production on an action movie called John Wick with Willem Dafoe, which is where the photo above comes from. He also just finished shooting The Whole Truth with Rene Zellweger

DUCKTALES Theme Song Reimagined with Real Ducks

Oh My Disney has released a ridiculous but entertaining reimagining of the classic DuckTales theme song with real ducks. DuckTales only ran for three seasons back in the late 80s, but it left quite an impression on the kids who watched it. I loved that show, and from time to time I still find myself with that theme song stuck in my head.

Clips and Photos for Joe Carnahan's Crazy Looking STRETCH

This is our first look at director Joe Carnahan's insane looking new movie Stretch. Universal Pictures recently acquired the film, and they will be unleashing the madness on VOD sometime next month.

The movie stars Patrick Wilson (Insidious) as "a down-on-his-luck chauffeur looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back."

The film also stars Chris Pine, Brooklyn Decker, Ed Helms, and Jessica Alba. You get a look at most of these character in the photos provided. That's a crazy-looking Pine in the image above. It looks like it have that same awesome style and tone of Carnhan's Smokin' Aces, so it should be a fun ride.

Carnahan made the film for around $5 million, and I'm very excited about seeing it. You can check out the image and a couple of brief clips below, and I have no idea what to make of the first clip. It just teases the beginning of madness.

Production on J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII recently resumed after taking a break to allow Harrison Ford to recover from a leg injury. Today we have a really cool photo from the set of the film giving us an aerial view of the Millennium Falcon and an X-Wing that is unfortunately covered by a tarp. The photos were snapped from above by a local flight school in South London. The long-awaited Star Wars film is set to be released on December 18, 2015! Video of THE IRON GIANT Puppet Cosplay in Action

A week ago we shared an awesome photo of a 9 foot Iron Giant cosplay puppet from Cosplay Day Singapore 2014. You can now see the puppet in action! R3LOAD Network released a video of the puppeteer cosplayer working his magic. The Iron Giant you see here was created by Orvis Evans, and took about a year to build. It was made using PVC pipes, plastic, foam and parts from a toilet.

What's funny is the guy parading it around can't even see, so he had bring someone along with him to guide him through the crowds. I would love to see this guy build something else just as cool to show off.

Meet the Anime Version of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Next month, the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear on the Japanese anime show Marvel Disk Wars. This is our first look at the guardians in their anime form. Star-Lord looks like your typical spiky haired anime character, Groot looks disturbing, but Rocket Raccoon looks the weirdest out of all of them. He looks like some kind of cute little nightmare that will swallow your soul and send you to hell. I'm surprised they don't have Gamora wearing some kind of schoolgirl uniform. You can watch the trailer for the Guardians of the Galaxy Disk Wars episode below!

10 Ridiculous Obscure Marvel Characters - Part 2

0
0

A couple of weeks ago I posted the first ten ridiculous and obscure characters that Marvel has created over the years, which you can check out here if you missed it. There are so many of them that I decided to break it down into multiple parts, and I have ten more crazy characters that I think you'll all get a kick out of, especially if you've never heard of them below.

Hellcow

Real name: Bessie

She's a vampire cow! Seriously! One night Dracula is traveling through Switzerland and finds Bessie and drinks her blood. Bessie's owner discovers her lifeless body and buries her. Three days later, she rises from the dead and begins to roam the earth seeking revenge on Dracula. After 300 years of fruitless searching, Bessie travels to Cleveland. She meets Howard the Duck, whom she mistakes for Dracula. A raging, confused Bessie attacks Howard, who drives a wooden stake through her heart and puts her to rest for eternity.

Because she's a vampire she has the ability to fly and can turn into mist. She also apparently has strength and durability far above those of any normal cow. However, being a vampire, she must suck blood from victims in order to sustain her immortality. She also has the basic vulnerablities of other vampires such as religious items, sunlight, wooden stakes, and garlic.

I would actually love to see a movie based on this character because of how crazy it is.

Masked Marauder

Real Name: Frank Farnum

The Masked Marauder is a costumed criminal scientist and inventor who has a helmet that projects "opti-blasts" which can temporarily or permanently blind a victim. If the helmet isn't cool enough for you, some of his other inventions include a Bomb-droid, a truck with "hydraulic hoist," a helicopter with a force field, and a teleportation device which can affect even unwitting targets who are far away. He also has some "modest" training in martial arts, so I bet he gets his ass kicked a lot.

What makes this character so ineffective is that he suffers from obsessive–compulsive personality disorder and "insists that his men execute his plans according to timetables that schedule each step down to the second. Even a few seconds deviation from one of his timetables causes him to become extremely agitated." You can't be like that and be a good villain.

He's also excessively arrogant and always assumes that his opponents will be rendered completely helpless by his opti-blasts, despite being repeatedly proven wrong on this point. This guy sounds like an idiot.

Diamondhead

Real Name: Arch Dyker

This poor criminal bastard was transformed when he was mutated by a diamond-powered laser during a botched jewel heist. The character has superhuman strength and and his body can be hardened into a diamond-like status. I'm not impressed.

Xemnu

This character is the last of his kind and an intergalactic criminal. He had very advanced mind powers like telepathy, and you know what he did with them? He became an actor, got a TV show and would secretly emit his mind control powers over the viewers of his show. Oh, and at one point he wanted to steal all of the earth's kids.

Xemnu also had the ability to take over the body of another being if his body was ever destroyed. The new body would eventually take the form and appearance of his original body.

Shroud

Real Name: Maximilian Quincy Coleridge

Aliases: "Max", Michael Wyatt, Master of Darkness

Talk about a Batman wannabe, the guy was proficient in hand-to-hand combat and carried around explosive "bombarangs." He even tries to look like the Dark Knight. Also, his parents were gunned down and killed during a hold-up when he was 10-years-old. From there on out he dedicated his life to fighting crime, even traveling to Nepal to study martial arts and mystical disciplines at the temple of the Cult of Kali.

There's one thing he could do that Batman couldn't, though. He had the ability to "create apertures into the Darkforce Dimension to project Darkforce in a gaseous form which he can manipulate. The Darkforce negates all light sources in the area, and the Shroud can manipulate the source into basic shadows and shapes to serve as decoys. Mystical extrasensory perception replacing his eye sight) that allows him to 'see' through walls and through his own darkness."

Night Thrasher

Real Name: Dwayne Michael Taylor

This is another Batman wannabe in the Marvel universe. He believes that his extremely wealthy parents were gunned down by a criminal, so he makes a vow to make criminals pay for their dirty deeds. He used his parents' money build a state-of-the-art headquarters with training facilities and computer support systems. He also developed specialized armor and weaponry.

He is a master at an unspecified Japanese martial art, and he has also been trained with weapons. He carries two truncheons approximately 1' in length, and a variety of weaponry such as pepper spray, an Adamantium garrote wire, plastique and napalm gel packs, an 8-inch spring-lock blade, and an uzi machine pistol. He is also good with computers, working in hacking, software coding, and computer tapping.

Paula

marvelPaula

Paula was a mutant who used her powers to become a successful stand-up comedian, but when she lost her powers on M-Day, she found she was no longer funny. A mutant with the power of funniness. That's really kind of sad.

Calizuma

Calizuma is a magician and skilled illusion-caster who could project mystical bolts of energy from his hands among other abilities. One time he transformed himself and his warrior wizard gang into man-apes. Good for him.

Cyrus Black

Alias: Devil Incarnate

This is not the dude from Harry Potter, but he is a magician who spent years studying and training to beat Doctor Strange only to be beaten by him. One time he created a force-field to cover a city block. He also fired bolts of bedevilment, created mystic ladders, and could cast a spell of protection. Under the influence of his Jamaican incense, Black could dream anything to life and bestow any powers upon it so long as he believed it was real. None of this ever did anything to help him against Strange, though. Everything he ever dreamed up was defeated.

Ani-Men

marvelAni-Men

The Ani-Men were a team of grown men that dressed up as animals to orchestrate a crime wave by committing robberies. Their original line-up consisted of Frog-Man, Cat-Man, Bird-Man, and Ape-Man. They were hired by a man named the Organizer, a.k.a. Abner Jonas, a candidate for mayor of New York City. He would send the Ani-Men on missions to undermine the current administration. You would think the Organizer could have found a better team criminals. They all ended up being killed in a massive explosion meant for Tony Stark. That's not the best way to go.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Will Change the Marvel Universe

captain-america-3-will-change-the-marvel-universe

It sounds like Captain America 3 is going to give the Marvel cinematic universe a big overhaul just like The Winter Solider did when S.H.I.E.L.D. ended up being Hydra. I don't know what it is about Captain America, but the things that he's involved with provide some big fun twists and turns in the universe.

Crave Online recently had the chance to talk to Joe and Anthony Russo about the upcoming third film that they're developing. One of the first things they are asked about is the title, apparently it's been in place for awhile and they hope that they get to announce it soon. Joe said,

"If you’ve been talking to Kevin [Feige, President of Marvel Studios] the title has been in place probably for ten years in his brain. It’s all part of the road map that he’s laid out, and it’s all part of the bigger plan."

The direction the studio is taking this character has been planned out from the beginning. It's not like they are just coming up with this stuff now. Marvel knows where the characters' arcs in their universe are going. Joe explains,

"Yeah, I think the way Kevin does it is there are big pieces that he knows he wants to build towards, but the way that you get there is open to interpretation and improv a little bit. That’s defined by who gets involved with the project, the writers and directors involved in the project. The big thing we knew we had to deal with in Cap 2 was the fall of Hydra. Similarly there is a very, very big idea at the center of Cap 3. But how we get there is all up to us. And I think why Marvel has been so successful is because it’s been such a clear plan, that everything is interconnected and they’re building emotional capital with each movie that you can then trade off of in the next film."

When asked about the those set pieces and if the villain and other characters in the story are a part of that big set piece, Joe said,

"No, all that stuff is open for interpretation. Usually it’s just one big idea that alters the universe as a whole in some way, that has interconnectedness that he’s grabbed on to. That’s the case with Cap 3, but as far as villain and story arc and tone, all that stuff is left up to us."

It will be interesting to see what that big center piece is for Captain America 3 that changes the universe… again. I absolutely love what Marvel has done with Cap in their films, and we know from a previous interview that this third movie will wrap up Steve Roger's story arc. Whatever is going on, the movie is in good hands with the Russos. What do you think the big change will be?

Look at that! The day after I do a fun facts list for The Neverending Story a Falkor cake pops up online to bring some 80s nostalgia. It was created by Marcy’s Cakes, and they did a great job bringing this character life. There's a lot of great detail that was put into this cake.
