Alec Baldwin in Talks to Join MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5

alec-baldwin-in-talks-to-join-mission-impossible-5-social.jpg

Alec Baldwin is in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to join Tom Cruise in the Christopher McQuarrie-directed movie Mission: Impossible 5

There's still very little known about this sequel, but Variety says that Baldwin’s character "would be a high-ranking CIA officer who oversee [sic] Cruise’s division, similar to the role Lawrence Fishburne had in Mission: Impossible III."

The studio has been on the hunt for a female lead after Jessica Chastain passed on the role. According to the site, the studio is looking at newcomer Rebecca Ferguson to fill the part. Apparently she will play some kind of assassin. The actress is mostly know for her role of Queen Elizabeth (Elizabeth Woodville) in The White Queen.

I've enjoyed watching this franchise over the years, and the last one, which was directed by Brad Bird, was so damn entertaining. Cruise and McQuarrie worked together on the awesome movie Jack Reacher, so I have a feeling this next installment of the franchise is going to be great.

The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on Christmas Day 2015.

Scarlett Johansson Shoots Up A Lot of Guys in Extended LUCY Clip

Here's an extended clip from Luc Besson's radical-looking action film Lucy. In it, Scarlett Johansson escapes from a prison cell and shoots up a room full of guys. I don't know why, but this clip just makes me like Johansson even more. The clip may not be safe for work because it's so awesomely violent. I'm seriously excited about seeing this movie.

From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

The movie is set to open in theaters on July 25th. Thanks to AskMen for the clip.

Hilarious Shirtless 300 Spartan Warrior Paint Cosplay

You can be a shirtless, badass, 300 Spartan warrior cosplayer even if you're not in shape. You just need a lot of paint and someone with some art skills who isn't afraid to touch your chubby belly.

The photos you see hear are of Mr. Nagata from Japanese comedy site Omocoro, and he had an artist named Hikaru Cho come in to paint his chiseled Spartan body. The process took over three hours to complete, and it looks like Nagata even got himself a haircut.

It's amazing what you can do with a little shading on the body. I thought this was so funny. Thanks to Kotaku of the heads up.

Christina Ricci stars in one of those inspirational teacher movies that comes around every year or so. You know the films I'm talking about, where the teacher has to unlock the real potential of her lost students who live in a harsh world. The movie is called Around the Block, and she plays an American teacher "who takes a troubled inner-city youth under her wing as they all find themselves struggling in the gritty streets of Redfern, an inner suburb of Sydney that's home to the 'block' of the film's title." The movie is set to be released sometime this year. Thanks to Firstshowing for the tip!

Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill Join Coen Bros. HAIL CAESAR!

Scarlett Johansson is in talk to join the Coen brothers' next big film project Hail Ceasar!. Jonah Hill also announced on Twitter that he has been cast in the film, saying, "Hail, Caesar! So damn excited to get to work with the Coen Brothers!"

They will join Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, and Ralph Fiennes, who has also been in negotiations to co-star.

The film follows a 1950s Hollywood fixer named Eddie Mannix who is working to keep a studio’s stars in line. If cast, Johansson will play an actress "who suddenly becomes pregnant as her film is about to go into production." Hill's part in the story has not been revealed yet.

The film is expected to go into production this fall. Here's a more detailed description of the story from the initial announcement:

"The famed 1950s private investigator who worked for Confidential magazine and was the muckraker of the time using wiretaps to spy on movie stars and gather dirt. Otash was a former lifeguard who became a cop, then helped operate a call girl ring and lost his job as a cop and became a private eye who wiretapped… It was not unusual during the time for studios’ internal security to protect their assets to construct and manage the squeaky clean image of their stars. The big stars of the day were under contracts for a certain number of pictures so the powerful studios had their own go-to guys (and sometimes hired outside investigators) to deep-six scandalous stories, whether it be romantic dalliances, drug use, DUIs, arrests, you name it. For the more serious threats, the fixers used pay-outs, strong-arming, and took care of 'problems' (real or perceived) by any means necessary. It was the day of the old Hollywood star system."

I absolutely love this Cthulhu illustration created by Creature Box. It's easily one of the coolest and most fun designs of the creature I've seen.

Cthulhu is a cosmic entity that was created by H.P. Lovecraft for a short story called "The Call of Cthulhu," which was published in 1928. This is a creature that needs to be brought to life in modern day cinema.

"I have lived most of my life surrounded by my enemies. I would be grateful to die among my friends."

Entertainment Weekly has released a new sneak peek featurette for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It focuses on Zoe Saldana's character Gamora, who looks awesome in the movie. The video features a good amount of new footage from the movie, and it also includes the actress talking about her shady character. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I just want to see Gamora and Nebula fight! The movie comes out on August 1st.

Sigourney Weaver Reprises Her Role as Ripley in ALIEN: ISOLATION

sigourney-weaver-reprises-her-role-of-ripley-in-alien-isolation

Sigourney Weaver is set to reprise her role as Ripley in the Alien franchise in the upcoming video game Alien: Isolation. She's not the only one from the original movie coming back either — Tom Skerritt, Yaphet Kotto, Harry Dean Stanton, and Veronica Cartwright will also be reprising their roles for the game.

This will be a part of DLC expansion for the game, which will allow players to take control of Ellen Ripley, as well as Captain Dallas and Parker, as they try to survive the intrusion of the the xenomorph alien that comes aboard the cargo ship Nostromo. John Hurt was not included in the game because the events take place after he died in the film. I included a trailer for the DLC that you can watch below.

The story follows Ellen Ripley's daughter, who is looking for answers about her mother's disappearance. Below, you'll find a more detailed description of the game.

“Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.

”As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

”Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.”

According to IGN, "Everyone who pre-orders the game will get a free upgrade to the ‘Nostromo Edition’, which includes the first of the two DLC missions, entitled 'Crew Expendable'. Taking place moments after the death of Brett, it sees players assuming the role of Ripley, Dallas or Parker, as the crew of the Nostromo attempt to flush the alien from the air vents and into the ship’s airlock. Depending on which character you choose, you’ll have a slightly different perspective on events and will begin with different resources."

The second mission is “available through select retailers depending on territory,” and in it players take on the role of Ripley who “must activate the Nostromo’s self-destruct sequence and reach the Narcissus shuttle in order to escape.”

The game’s creative director Alistair Hope talked about the similarities between the film and the game explaining:

"There’s no point in us trying to match beat-for-beat what occurs in the film. The film is much better at doing that than a game. We came with the approach these guys had a plan to try and take on the alien, to flush it out of an airlock. What else could have happened? … We’ve used those moments to give us some kind of structure; as to what occurs is very much down to the player."

Alien: Isolation will be available on October 7th on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

10 Fun Facts About 1990s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

tumblr_m9ft4vH2Nm1qla11zo1_1280.jpg

With the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out soon, I thought it would be fun to check out some trivia about the original 1990 live-action movie. I loved that movie, and I recently watched it again with my kids. Yeah, it does not stand the test of time, but it's still very enjoyable, and I loved how dark it was.

I understand that some of you might already know many of these facts, but just in case you don't, here you go!

  • This was the highest-grossing independent film of all time, having made over $133 million in domestic box office.
  • Josh Pais, who played Raphael, suffers from claustrophobia. After filming Raphael's scenes, he would have to take the helmet off very quickly. He also is the only actor in Turtle costume to also voice his character.
  • Jim Henson, whose workshop provided the movie's turtle costumes, was reportedly upset about the level of violence in the finished movie.
  • Playmates Toys, the company that produced the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" line of action figures from late 1980s to mid 1990s, declined to produce any movie based toys off of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) film due to the violent content language and overall dark tone the movie presented. However, with the lighter tone of the sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) released a year later, Playmates would release the very popular (and now highly collectible) Movie Star Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles assortment.
  • The Foot Clan is a parody of the Hand, a clan of ninjas from the Marvel comics.
  • It took three puppeteers to operate the Splinter puppet. Kevin Clash performs the puppet while the facial expressions are remote controlled by another puppeteer and the arms are controlled by the puppeteer who works along with Clash during the performances of the puppet.
  • According to the audio commentary on the German version of the DVD, the movie was originally planned to be made and released in the mid-1980s, before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) cartoon was on the air. The movie was intended to be a direct comic book adaption, but no studio or country (except France and Germany) wanted to invest in the project.
  • During the battle with Shredder, Leonardo is the only turtle to successfully land a strike when he hits Shredder on his arm with his sword.
  • In the script and novelization, the young boy that Tatsu attacks was to die from the beating. The sounds of the boy breathing and others saying he would be all right were added at the last minute after the movie ratings board objected to the scene.
  • In the original ending, after the Turtles have defeated The Shredder and they are celebrating on the rooftop, a scene was to follow where April and Danny go to a comic book publisher to pitch an idea of walking, talking turtles. The publisher rejects the idea, thinking the idea is too farfetched, all the while unknown to him the Turtles are watching through the building window. Michelangelo seems to fall, but it's revealed he's hanging on the ledge, commenting on what he just heard. The clip can be seen online, featuring the voices of the on set performers for the Turtles, before their voices were dubbed for the final cut.

We've actually posted that last little tidbit before, but in case you missed it, you can watch that deleted scene below. Thanks to imdb!

Mackevision is one of several effects houses that help work on bringing the world of Westeros to life on HBO's Game of Thrones. They've released a VFX reel that breaks down some of the work they did for the show. Watching this might take some of the magic out of the series for you, but I personally enjoy seeing how shows and movies like this are put together. As you'll see, these guys do some outstanding work.

Heartfelt Message from the FAST AND FURIOUS 7 Team

heartfelt-message-from-the-fast-and-furious-7-crew

Director James Wan has wrapped production on Fast and Furious 7. It was a really long and hard road for them to make this movie, especially after Paul Walker passed away. I imagine it wasn't easy for anyone to make the decision to keep going and finish the movie, but it is something the fans wanted, and it was the right thing to do to pay tribute to Walker. The cast and crew crew of the film sent out a heartfelt message and photo of Vin Diesel to all of the Fast and Furious fans out there. I didn't expect to get emotional when I read this message, but I kind of did. You can read it below:

Today we completed the last shot in the production of FAST & FURIOUS 7.
We wanted to take this moment to express how thankful we are for your support. We felt the love and strength from our fans throughout this journey, and it’s because of you that we got here.
There was a time when we didn’t know how we could go on, or even if we should. But we listened to you, and you inspired us not only to keep going but to try and make the best FAST & FURIOUS movie yet.
Our FAST family has been together for almost fifteen years now and has grown a lot in that time. From the start, Vin has been our leader who feels what’s right for FAST in his gut and in his heart. When we had to stop production last year, Vin gathered us back together and moved us forward when we needed it most. He led us to this day.
Some of us have been here from the very beginning. Vin, Michelle, Jordana and our producer Neal all go back to that first little movie we shot on the streets of LA. We came back to LA in FAST 7, and it was an especially emotional homecoming for those who’ve grown up with each other since that first shoot.
There are those we count as brothers who we gathered along the way and are with us again: Dwayne, Tyrese, Luda, Lucas and our writer, Chris. We’ve got some new additions this time in Jason, Kurt, Djimon, Nathalie and our director, James. Caleb and Cody joined us to honor their brother and help complete his work.
Our family is big and strong but it won’t ever quite be whole again without Paul.
All of us -- those who’ve been here from the start and those whose first FAST film is 7 -- wanted to create a special film for him and for you. We believe we have.
Thank you for being there for us. You are the biggest part of our family, and we couldn’t have gotten here without you.
The countdown to April 3 begins.
With love,
Your FAST & FURIOUS Family

Lionsgate has released an extended TV spot for The Expendables 3, and it features some exciting new footage from the movie. It looks like these guys just got together and had a ton of fun making this action-packed flick. You can see how much they are enjoying it in their eyes. I hope audiences have just as much fun watching the movie they made. I still don't understand why they decided to make the movie PG-13, but I still think it will be entertaining. It's set to be released on August 15th.

Baymax Speaks in New BIG HERO 6 Teaser

The robot character, Baymax, from Disney's Big Hero 6 introduces himself in this short new teaser for the film. This is the first time that we have heard the white puffy robot talk, and he doesn't sound anything like I though he would! That's not a bad thing though, it's great. I don't know why, but the first thing I thought of when I heard the voice was Doug, the dog from Up

With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Big Hero 6 is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action.

The movie is being directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Bolt). It's set to hit theaters in 3D on November 7th, 2014.

This piece of retro-inspired sci-fi art is called Ophiuchus, and it was created by Sachin Teng for the Nucleus Gallery's art show Yesterday's Tomorrow. Here's what the artist had to say about the beautiful piece:

"The new zodiac symbol, constellation Ophiuchus, the man wrestling with the serpent. It’s a metaphor for our constant struggle with knowledge and the unknown.

"The show is about retro futurism of the 50’s and 60’s. It’s interesting to see these wild things we though would happen and how they would look in comparison to where we ended up."

X-Men and Lord of the Rings star Ian McKellen gave us our first look at him as Sherlock Holmes in a film called Mr. Holmes. The movie is being directed by Bill Condon (Dream Girls) and is based on the book A Slight Trick of the Mind. McKellen will obviously be playing an older version of Holmes. The character will be looking back on the events of his life, such as the cases he worked on and his love life. The movie also stars Laura Linney, and is currently in production around England.

Special Sneak Peek Pilot Screenings:
Comic-Con International and Warner Bros. Television proudly continue their annual Preview Night tradition, with exclusive world premiere screenings of the pilot episodes of three of the most highly anticipated series of the 2014-15 television season -- The Flash, Constantine, and iZombie -- as well as a brand new episode of Teen Titans Go!

The Flash - From the Arrow creative team of executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter, The Flash is a fast-paced superhero drama that follows the high-speed adventures of the Fastest Man Alive. Written by Berlanti, Kreisberg, and DC Entertainment's chief creative officer Geoff Johns, the action drama follows Central City Police scientist Barry Allen, an everyday guy with the heart of a hero and the genuine desire to help others. Standing still emotionally since the day his mother was murdered (and his father unjustly jailed for the crime), Barry was taken in as a child by the investigating Detective West and raised in a cop's home alongside West's super-smart daughter (and Barry's dream girl), Iris. But when an unexpected and devastating accident at the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator facility strikes Barry, he finds himself suddenly charged with the incredible power to move at super speeds. While Barry has always been a hero in his soul, his newfound powers have finally given him the ability to act like one. With a winning personality and a smile on his face, Barry Allen-aka The Flash-is finally moving forward in life...very, very fast! The series stars Grant Gustin (Arrow), Candice Patton (The Game), Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries), Danielle Panabaker (Necessary Roughness ), Carolos Valdes (on Broadway: Once), along with Tom Cavanagh (Ed) and Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order). From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, The Flash premieres this fall Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.

Constantine - John Constantine is a man waging war against the forces of darkness-from both within himself and the outside world. An irreverent, working-class con man and occult expert, he's an experienced exorcist and demonologist with an extensive list of supernatural contacts, each with their own paranormal talents and abilities. Following the aftermath of a tragic incident, Constantine has voluntarily checked himself into an asylum and sworn off investigating matters of the supernatural, but when a cryptic message calls him out to reluctantly resume his old life, he finds himself saving the life of a young woman whom he's never met but to whom he is connected to in a very important way. With dark forces gathering power in the world, Constantine allies himself with Manny, a rogue warrior angel, and Chas, his giant childhood protector-and the only friend who's managed to stay alive. Based on characters published by DC Entertainment, Constantine reflects the lore of the fan-favorite comic, combining noirish storytelling with the evolving mythology of John Constantine, a morally challenged character who doesn't come down on the side of either good or evil...but ultimately might be the only thing defending us against the dark forces from beyond. The series stars Matt Ryan (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior), Harold Perrineau (Lost), and Charles Halford (True Detective) and is executive produced by Daniel Cerone (Dexter) and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knighttrilogy). From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television,Constantine will air Fridays at 10/9c on NBC this fall, premiering October 24.

iZombie - Olivia "Liv" Moore, a 25-year-old medical resident, is on the fast track to a perfect life...until she's turned into a zombie. Now stuck somewhere between half-alive and undead, Liv loses all traces of her former drive and ambition. She transfers her medical residency to the city morgue in order to reluctantly access the only real form of sustenance left available to her-and the only thing that allows her to maintain her humanity-human brains. But there are side effects to Liv's new diet: With each brain she consumes, Liv experiences "visions"-flashes of the corpse's memories-including, in some cases, clues as to how they were killed. The series stars Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time), Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings), Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill), David Anders (Heroes) and Nora Dunn (Entourage), and is executive produced by Veronica Mars veterans Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Danielle Stokdyk, and Dan Etheridge. From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television and based on characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, published by DC Entertainment's Vertigo imprint, iZombie premieres midseason on The CW.

Teen Titans Go! - The Teen Titans are back at it again, in Teen Titans Go!, with all new comedic adventures both in and out of Titans Tower, and tonight you'll get to see a brand new episode. SONS OF ANARCHY Season 7 Teaser - "Hell Awaits"

FX has released a short teaser for their seventh and final season of Sons of Anarchy. It features Jax (Charlie Hunnam) going on a solo night ride. While he rides through the darkness his face fades in and out of a skull. It's kind of a haunting image. This is such an incredible show, and I was utterly shocked by how they ended Season 6. EW has some interesting commentary on the trailer:

"Fans who know creator Kurt Sutter’s Hamlet inspiration will find it especially poetic: The famous Gravediggers scene, when Hamlet eventually comes face-to-face with the skull of Yorick and contemplates man’s inevitable end, begins the play’s final act following the death of Ophelia.

"It starts with the Gravediggers debating whether Ophelia deserves a Christian burial after committing suicide. Spoiler alert for anyone marathoning Sons of Anarchy before the final season this fall, Gemma’s murder of Tara (Maggie Siff)—Jax’s wife, who had been willing to die to save their boys from the kingdom they’d inherit and schemed against him before a reconciliation."

I have no idea how this show is going to end, and what the fate of Jax and his crew will be, but I can't wait to see what happens.
