TERMINATOR: GENESIS Retitled Just TERMINATOR

$

terminator-genesis-retitled-just-terminator

According to Bleeding Cool a couple of different sources have confirmed that director Alan Taylor's new Terminator movie will not be called Terminator: Genesis as previously announced.

According to the report, "various bits of licensing, merchandise and toys that will tie into the next Terminator film are being branded as just Terminator tie-ins. No The, No Genesis."

So it looks like the film's final title is going to simply be Terminator. I was never a big fan of the whole "Genesis" subtitle in the first place, so I'm ok with this. It makes a lot more sense to me to keep it simple and clean.

The film is shooting right now, and it's set to be released in theaters on July 1st, 2015. Hopefully Paramount Pictures brings some footage to San Diego Comic-Con for fans to enjoy!

10 Actors Who Could Play Robin in Batman v Superman

Batmans-Robins-DC-New-52.jpg

There has been a lot of talk and speculation surrounding the possible inclusion of Robin in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Daniel Radcliffe recently expressed interest in playing the character, and it was rumored that Adam Driver (Girls, Star Wars: Episode VII) was up for the role of Nightwing. There's no confirmation on whether Robin or Nightwing will be in the movie, but there's a good chance that somewhere down the line one or both of the characters will be introduced into Snyder's DC cinematic universe.

So I came up with a list of young actors who could potentially take on the role of Robin in the film. Over the years there have been several Robins introduced in the the comics, and any one of those could be brought into the franchise. There's Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, and Carrie Kelley. Each one had a very different attitude, personality, and outlook on life.

Dick Grayson was the OG Robin. He had a light-hearted attitude, quick-witted comments, and a lot of heart. He eventually became Nightwing.

Jason Todd is the opposite of Grayson with his sneaky, snarky, street smart attitude. He was a tough and dishonest kid, who was eventually beaten to death by Joker. He later became the Red Hood.

Tim Drake was the kind of Robin who used brains before brawn. He was a very calculating character who would seem to figure things out before Bruce Wayne did. He actually seemed to make a better detective than Wayne.

Damian Wayne was the son of Bruce Wayne and was impatient, murderous, spiteful, socially awkward, annoying, and extremely deadly. He was unlike any Robin that ever existed.

Carrie Kelley was the first female Robin. She was a street smart kid who became obsessed with Batman after he saved her life. She had absentee parents who barely noticed her existence, and she trained herself in secret.

Here is a list of actors I think could play these characters. Feel free to to make any additions in the comment section below!

Brenton Thwaites

 (The Signal, The Giver)

robin1.jpg

Thwaites is an extremely talented actor who is doing some amazing films, and I have to say he would be my number one choice to take on the role of Dick Grayson.

Chloe Grace Moretz

(Kick-Ass)

If they decide to go with Carrie Kelley, Moretz is the perfect choice. Yeah, she may be a little older, but she has proven that she has the skills, both in acting and kicking ass. I have no doubt she'd kill it in the part.

Aaron Paul

(Breaking Bad, Need For Speed)

If Jason Todd is ever introduced into the franchise, Paul could the man for the job. It would be a pretty amazing story arc if they went this route, but the actor could easily portray that street smart character who eventually becomes the Red Hood.

Lucas Till

(X-Men: First Class, Days of Future Past)

I'll be honest, Tim Drake may have been a good detective, but he is one of the most uninteresting Robins ever, and I hope that the studio skips him altogether. If they don't, though, Till is their man.

Asa Butterfield

(Ender's Game)

robin5.jpg

This young actor is an up-and-comer who was amazing in Ender's Game. He would be a great choice for Damian Wayne if the filmmakers decided to go that route. He's got that feisty, smart, and hardened attitude. I know he's not the right age, but age can always be adjusted.

Matt Bomer

(White Collar)

robin6.jpg

He's a little bit of an older choice, but he would be great as a seasoned Nightwing. He's got that "I don't give a shit, I'll take you down" tough guy look.

Jared Padalecki

(Supernatural)

robin7.jpg

If the rumors are true, then Nightwing will be the first Robin character introduced into the franchise. It's hard for me to imagine Adam Driver in the role, but I think Padalecki would be a solid choice that a lot of Supernatural fans would be happy with.

Dylan O'Brien

(Teen Wolf, The Maze Runner)

Here's another one who could play Damian, but I also think he might have the range to take on the role of Todd as well. O'Brien's just got this rambunctious look to him, and from what I've seen, he's a decent young actor.

Max Thieriot

(Bates Motel)

robin8.jpg

This guy has a very scrappy look and street smart attitude, and he's another actor who could easily play Jason Todd.

Ansel Elgort

(The Fault of Our Stars)

There's just something about this actor that I really like. He has that good boy look, but he gets very serious and really intense when he needs to be. I think he'd be good in the role of Dick Grayson and could grow from Robin into Nightwing. I could also see him as Tim Drake.

Weaponless International Poster for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Chris Pratt is looking cocky as Star-Lord in this new international poster for The Guardians of the Galaxy. What's interesting about this poster is the fact that none of our heroes are brandishing their weapons. If you look at the domestic poster below, you can see that it's a lot more exciting, as the team is locked, loaded, and ready for battle! I guess in some countries all you need is a badass attitude to win the battle.

This movie can't get here soon enough! I'm curious to see how this movie does at the box office when it's released, but I'm hoping that it blows up. I'm just not sure how general audiences are going to take the badassery of this movie. I hope it's not too different and crazy for them.

We have another entertaining Guardians of the Galaxy mashup trailer for your enjoyment! This one combines the upcoming Marvel film with Bioware's hit video game saga, Mass Effect. The video was edited to gather by YouTuber Zeb Ekeroth, who had this to say:

"I attempted to be as accurate as I could and recreate it shot-for-shot, but a few changes were made; some being creative choices that told a story unique to the games, and others because of the limitations from the game's cutscenes."

It turned out awesome, and fans should get a kick out of it.

Marvel has released three new character posters for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. We've got Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Gamora looking all kinds of badass. The director released the posters on Twitter today. The rodent is voiced by Bradley Cooper in the epic looking sci-fi space adventure, and I'm looking forward to seeing audiences react to him. I seriously doubt that Marvel has even shown the best parts of this character in any of the trailers or videos that have been released. I can't wait to see Rocket completely unleash the fury! Groot is voice by Vin Diesel and Gamora is played by Zoe Saldana. Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1st.

This awesome illustration comes from DeviantArt user Evil Pirate and shows us how cool C3PO would look as a giant mech robot. C3PO would have really kicked some ass at the battle of Yavin as a battle-ready mech warrior. I can only imagine him alongside the Red, Gold, and Blue squadrons as they fly into battle to take out the Death Star.

Mark Ruffalo Shoots Down PLANET HULK Movie Rumors

One day Marvel and Mark Ruffalo are going to team up for a new stand alone Hulk movie. It doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon, but it will eventually happen. The big question is, what Hulk story will they tell? There's been a lot of talk and rumors surrounding a Planet Hulk movie, and I know for a fact that Marvel has discussed the possibility of it.

In a recent interview with MTV though, Ruffalo shot down the idea of a Planet Hulk movie, saying he doesn't think it's the way to go. This is what he had to say:

“They launch Bruce Banner into space to try to get rid of him and the Hulk. He ends up freaking out, smashing up the spaceship, and it goes off course and ends up on this planet of gladiator creatures. He falls in love, has a Hulk baby … and then the Avengers nuke the planet.

“I don’t think ['Planet Hulk'] is the way to go yet. I think you need more Banner. The whole thing is just him as Hulk, on a planet, fighting other gladiators.”

It's such a great story though, one that has more to it than Hulk just fighting other gladiators. I personally think that Planet Hulk is the right way to go. Maybe it won't be the story to tell for his next solo movie, but it's one that eventually needs to happen.

Plus, Ruffalo may not like the idea of a Planet Hulk movie yet, but that doesn't mean Marvel isn't excited about the idea.

This spectacular mashup art teams The Punisher up with an unlikely Disney hero… Bambi. The hilarious illustration was created by Marco D'Alfonso for CBR's The Line it is Drawn. I love the piece of Bambi dialogue, "Tell my mother I said hi!", and if this was a real animated show, Mark Wahlberg would have to provide the voice of Bambi!

It looks like one of the villains that Peter Capaldi will be battling as The Doctor in Doctor Who Season 8 will be the Cybermen! The photo above was released by BBC Pictures and it features co-star Michelle Gomez standing next to Capaldi.

I enjoy the Cybermen! They were created by Gerry Davis and Kit Pedle in 1966 for the episode 'The Tenth Planet'. They've been recurring characters on the sci-fi series for almost 50 years. Their last appearance was in Matt Smith's 2013 Christmas special, 'The Time of the Doctor'.

It's great to see them back, and I'm sure it won't be the last time!

We still have two more years before we see X-Men: Apocalypse of the big screen, but director Bryan Singer is already teasing the production of the film. He posted an image of the script treatment that he's written for the film.

From what I can gather, this is a description of a prologue battle sequence. It's set on the Nile, and it involves the Four Horsemen, who were teased in the end credits scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past along with Apocalypse.

The movie is being written by Singer, Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris, and it's set to be released on May 27th, 2016.

We've got a great trailer to share with you today for James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain's romantic drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. This movie is going to tug at the audience's emotional strings. The story centers on "a couple trying to reclaim the life and love they once knew and pick up the pieces of a past that may be too far gone."

This was originally shot as two separate movies, one focusing on the boy, the other focusing on the girl. Each would have told the same story, but it would have been from different perspectives. The version that's being released is a combination of the two. I like the ambition behind the original idea, and I hope one day we get to see those, but this looks like it will be a solid story about love.

The movie also stars Bill Hader, William Hurt, Viola Davis, Isabelle Huppert, Jess Weixler, and Ciarán Hinds. It will be released this fall on September 26th.

Watch Damon Lindelof's HBO Pilot for THE LEFTOVERS Now

Just in case you missed the pilot episode of HBO's new series The Leftovers last night, you can now watch it in its entirely online right now. The show is based on the book by series co-producer Tom Perrotta, and Damon Lindelof (LOST) is the man who brought it to life for the cable network.

I thought the first episode was great! It stars Justin Theroux, who gave an incredible performance. I'm already hooked on the show, and I can't wait for next week's episode. Here's a description of the story:

When 2% of the world’s population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to come to terms with what happened. Three years later, the HBO drama series, ‘The Leftovers’ is the story of the people who didn’t make the cut.

Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, ‘The Leftovers’ follows Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), a father of two and the chief of police in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy when the notion no longer applies. Created by ‘Lost’ co-creator Damon Lindelof and acclaimed novelist Tom Perrotta, the series is executive produced by Lindelof, Perrotta and ‘Friday Night Lights’ executive producers Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey.  Lindelof serves as the series showrunner.

Check out the first episode and let us know if it's a series that you'll keep watching.

3-Minute Sneak Peek at SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE

The SyFy Channel has released a 3-minute clip for their absurd looking movie Sharknado 2: The Second One. The clip features a group of people riding the subway when all of a sudden it's attacked by sharks. This looks so stupid on so many levels, and the effects are horrendously bad. I seriously can't believe that this exists.

Official synopsis:

Sharknado 2: The Second One, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished iconic sites. Only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple. And, by the way, the Sharknado that hits NYC makes the one that hit Los Angeles seem positively tame.

It's set to premier on Wednesday, July 30th at 9/8c, and it co-stars Vivica A. Fox and Mark McGrath. Some of the guest stars include Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, Judah Friedlander, Andy Dick, and Perez Hilton.

I wonder if we'll ever actually see Warner Bros. make their live-action adaptation.

COMMUNITY Gets A Sixth Season — Three Maybe Four Good Seasons and a Movie?

$
0
0

Sony Pictures TV has announced that Community is closer to fulfilling its mantra of #SixSeasonsAndaMovie. The sixth season of the cult sitcom will consist of 13 new episodes, which will be available exclusively on Yahoo Screen.

I desperately want to root for the cast and creative team behind Community, but the show itself is a ghost of its former self. The first 3 seasons were superb, groundbreaking television. Creator and showrunner Dan Harmon tapped into the spirit and souls of geeks, whereas shows like The Big Bang Theory only scratch at the surface and play on stereotypes. But everything went south after NBC fired Harmon. The fourth season suffered greatly from his absence and played like a cheap parody of past seasons. Harmon made a welcome return for the fifth season, but the departure of two main cast members (Donald Glover and Chevy Chase) would ultimately overshadow the season’s promising soft reboot. Despite the dedicated online following, low ratings prompted NBC to pull the plug on the show earlier this year.

Perhaps Yahoo and the freedom of the Internet is just what the show needs. Community pushed the envelope, and maybe it just outgrew the confines of network television. Harmon is optimistic for this new frontier, saying:

“I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”

The show’s star, Joel McHale also teased the greater freedom of the format, stating:

“‘The reports of our cancellation have been greatly exaggerated.’ —Mark Twain (The other version of this quote has been wrong for years) # SixSeasonsAndaMovie is real. Thank you Sony. Thank you Yahoo. Thank you Dan Harmon. And thank you to the greatest f%$#ing fans in the history of the human race. It’s the internet. We can swear now.”

I’d like to think Community’s best days are ahead of it, but I’d be lying if I said that I’ll be anxiously awaiting for the new season to pop up. I’ll likely do some binge watching though at some point, so I can buy my ticket to the Community movie, provided it gets a proper theatrical release. Source: Variety

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have released the first trailer for Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig's new indie dramady The Skeleton Twins. The movie premiered at Sundance earlier this year, and I heard a lot of good things about it. The movie looks like a solid humorous and heartfelt story.

The story follows two estranged twins, Maggie and Milo, who feel that they're at the end of their ropes. "An unexpected reunion forces them to confront why their lives went so wrong. As the twins reconnect, they realize the key to fixing their lives may just lie in repairing their relationship."

The R-rated movie also stars Luke Wilson and Ty Burrell. It will get a limited theatrical release on September 19th.

James Gunn has released a new photo from Guardians of the Galaxy, and this one teases Michael Rooker's character Yondu. This character has been absent from all of the marketing material we've seen so far, but according to the director, we will see more of him soon. This is what he had to say on his Facebook page:

"You'll be seeing more of him soon. Yondu was not in the original script. I added him and wrote the role specifically for Rooker. I wasn't sure Marvel was going to go for either idea, so I was relieved when they responded enthusiastically to both."

I'm excited that they let the character in as well! There's no doubt he's going to be badass. Some photos from the set leaked out earlier, but nothing official has been released for him yet. Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in theaters on August 1st!
