There is so much that I love about this illustration by artist James Hance. It just oozes awesomeness. The piece features two of George Lucas' universes colliding with Indiana Jones flirting with Princess Leia. It's called "A Princess & A Guy Like Me?" Hance has a talent for imagining greatness like this. You can check out a lot more of his art that we've posted by clicking here

I don't know how I missed this sweded Star Wars scene from Cinefix, but better late than never, I guess! It features the Death Star trench run scene from the classic sci-fi fantasy adventure, and Chris Hardwick takes the lead role as Luke Skywalker. As always, they do an awesome job with their homemade movie scenes. I also include a side-by-side comparison of the scene for you to watch as well. Thanks to The Geek Twins for letting us know this exists!

compelling-x-men-days-of-future-past-photos-reveal-dark-history-and-future1

FOX has released a video and a set of photos as part of a viral marketing campaign for X-Men: Days of Future Past. You can find them on a website called 25 Moments. It gives us a compelling look at the dark past and future in an alternate universe in which mutants are being hunted down.

It gives us a timeline from where we left off with X-Men: First Class. As it moves through the timeline and into the future, things start to get worse, and mutants die. Some of these might be considered SPOILER type stuff, so if you move ahead and you see or read something you didn't want to, then it's your fault… starting now.

Some of the photos feature Magneto at the JFK assassination; Quicksilver breaking world records; Baby Colossus; Mutants helping repair the Golden Gate Bride from The Last Stand; Trask Industries taking over Xavier's School for Gifted; A peaceful protest ending in bloodshed when the Sentinels kill Angel; and more.

Graphic designer and illustrator Peter Stults has created a great new set of vintage-style poster art for several classic sci-fi and action films. We've featured several of his posters in the past, which you can check out here. I really love his design for the Captain America: The Winter Solider poster above. Below you'll find posters for 28 Days Later, Blade Runner, The Terminator, Gravity, and The Dark Knight Rises. I really like how he also recasts the characters with actors of the era the posters represent. Thanks to The May Sue for the tip.

The first trailer for David Fincher's new film, Gone Girl, will be released on Monday. But thanks to ET, we have our first look at some footage from the film, which stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, and Neil Patrick Harris.

The movie is a mystery-thriller based on novel by Gillian Flynn, who also penned the script. The story follows a man played by Affleck whose wife disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. Fincher is an incredible director, and it looks like he's made yet another amazing film.

The movie is set to be released on October 3rd, 2014. This sneak peek does come from ET, so unfortunately, it is full of all kinds of annoyances.

The Bagger 288 is one of the biggest land vehicles in the world, and Dan DeEntremont shows us what the 13,000-ton earthmover beast would look like as a badass fire-breathing Transformer. It was obviously all done using visual effects, and it turned out really cool. The actual machine can can excavate 240,000 tons of coal a day. It seriously looks like a terrifying machine, but it would make for an even more terrifying Transformer.

Machinima has released a new teaser trailer for their new web-series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. It focuses on the character Ryu. In case you missed the first trailer, I included that as well. It looks like it will be a cool series, and I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Assassin's Fist is the translation of 'Ansatsuken' the arcane Japanese lethal Martial Arts style of which Gouken, Gouki/Akuma Ryu and Ken are all exponents.

Through the coming of age story of Ryu & Ken, we are shown the back story of some of the game's most iconic characters, and over the course of the series we will see how the past, present, and future of all of those characters are intertwined, as the battle to become Ansatsuken Master threatens to tear apart another generation of brothers.

The series is set to debut on the Machinima youtube channel in May 2014, before hitting TV, On-demand, and DVD/Blu-ray.

Funny Alien Short Film - ONE MAN AND HIS DOG

I've got an off-beat comedy short for you to watch today. It's called "One Man and His Dog," and it centers on an alien who visits earth and finds himself in a very strange situation. The short was directed by Jonathan Hopkins for Future Shorts, and it has some interesting, fun twists that I think you'll get a kick out of.

A gentle alien visits the troubled planet earth. He is a galactic peace ambassador and mankind's only hope of salvation. After landing in a remote field he is discovered by a dog-loving stranger on the run from the police. So begins a comic tale of mistaken identity and extra-terrestrial tomfoolery.

Michael Bay Offers Details for TRANSFORMERS 4 - New Grimlock Photo

In a recent interview with EW, director Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg discuss their new film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and offer up a few new plot and character details on Optimus Prime and a character called Lockdown. In the process, he also confirms that this will be the first of a new trilogy. We've talked about this trilogy over the years. It's always been a possibility that this would be a trilogy, but this is the first time that Bay himself has confirmed it. He said,

“It’s kind of like a new Transformers. We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next one. Yeah, it’s the first of a new trilogy. I’m not necessarily sure that I’m doing [the others], but that’s what it’s meant for.”

We are going to get to see a different side of Optimus Prime in this movie. Bay promises an "angry Optimus Prime.” Apparently, after Chicago was utterly destroyed in Dark of the Moon, humans have decided that all transformers are bad.

“He’s done good for earth, and he’s been f–ked over.”

Wahlberg goes on to say,

"[The government] wants to wipe out all the Transformers, all the Autobots. Optimus has lost all faith in humankind, and I’m trying to convince him there is still good in the world and we need to work together."

Bay then goes on to talk about a character called Lockdown, who is a bounty hunter and isn't on the side of Autobots or Decepticons. We get a look at this character and his giant ship in the trailer.

"Lockdown is an interesting character. He travels the galaxy, he works for somebody else. And he’s here for one person, one alien, and then he’s out of here. So he doesn’t really want to take sides. The cause and balance of the galaxy is kind of messed up when different species play with different species. And that opens up a whole other gigantic world for Transformers.

Lockdown’s ship has a lot of meaning that can go into other movies. There’s a lot of backstory about that ship that’s not laid out here. You’re going to see a few things where you’re like ‘What is that? And what is that?’ And you’re going to see a couple shots like, ‘Wait a minute, who are they?’ But we don’t answer those questions."

Lockdown sounds like he's going to be a pretty awesome character. I wonder if the they will use him throughout the trilogy. Maybe they will answer those questions Bay is talking about in the other films.

When asked about the Dinobots and Grimlock, the director wouldn't say much. But here's what he did offer,

"I like to keep things very much in the dark. But yes, you’ll understand why they’re there when you see the movie. If you think I’m supposed to give away a lot of story points? No way! Keep it secret."

The movie is set to be released on June 27th, and I'm actually excited about it.

Paramount Pictures has released a new TV Spot for Transformers: Age of Extinction.  This is just the beginning of a whole new trilogy, and it looks like it could take us on an epic adventure. Optimus Prime is pissed off at the humans for turning their back on him and his team after they saved the planet. Hopefully Mark Wahlberg has what it takes to restore Prime's faith in humanity. The movie comes out on July 27th.

TITANFALL and ATTACK ON TITAN Animated Mashup!

I was really hoping that someone would create a mashup of the video game Titanfall and the anime series Attack On Titan, and thanks to Polaris, here it is! The animated action short is appropriately called "Attack on Titanfall," and it was animated by Joshua Palmer. The scene features a city being attacked by mech Titans and a group of pilots taking them down. The way the scene is played out was inspired by the style of the anime series, and they used the same type of music. As a big fan of both these franchises, I loved this, and I hope you do too!

Harrison Ford Is Curious and Excited about BLADE RUNNER 2

It's been awhile since we've heard anything about Blade Runner 2. The last thing we heard was back in May when Green Lantern co-writer Michael Green was hired to write the script, but the sequel is moving forward, and there's a good chance that it will eventually happen. During an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A on RedditHarrison Ford was asked how he felt about a sequel to Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi noir thriller. This was his response:

“I’m quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another, if it’s a good script I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again, he’s a very talented and passionate filmmaker. And I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character.”

The actor then went on to reveal the first Blade Runner movie was the most difficult movie that he's ever worked on, saying,

"The set for Blade Runner was maybe the hardest set I've ever worked on because I think we worked 50 nights in a row, and it was always raining."

I want to see this sequel happen, and it would be amazing to see Scott and Ford team up again to bring it to life. I'm really curious to see where they will take the story.

Unused Black Spider-Man and Venom Costumes for SPIDER-MAN 3

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 didn't end up as awesome as we all hoped. I know different costume designs couldn't have saved the movie, but it is cool to see a couple of alternate costume designs that could have been. I've included a couple of photos featuring an unused test costume for Venom created by Frontline Design Inc. This costume comes from the same guys that created the new Superman costume in Man of Steel. I don't really care for any of the Venom designs that were created for the movie. That villain should have been so much more badass. Hopefully we get to see that in the new movie being developed.

Then, directly below, you'll find a rejected black costume for Spider-Man. The photo features Sam Raimi and the costume designer testing out a couple of different Spider-Man logos that they could possibly use with the costume. It's very different than what we ended up seeing in the film. So why didn't they go with this costume design? According to a video from SevenWebHeads that I've embed below...

"The producers didn't want use it because they felt the latex made Spidey look like he was in a porno."

I think that's a silly excuse, and I personally think the the costume looks really cool. I can understand why they went with the final costume design they went with though. It was consistent with what they already had designed, only in black. It worked, unfortunately the movie didn't. Do you like any of these alternative costume designs? I've included the final designs below as well.

Stitch Kingdom

Disney has released fifteen new photos from their highly anticipated fantasy fairy tale, Maleficent. I've been impressed by everything I've seen from this film. Visually it looks stunning, and it seems like the studio locked down an incredible story and script. I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product. I'm sure Disney has another huge hit on their hands with this one.

Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

The movie comes out on May 30th, 2013.
