Joss Whedon's The Avengers would have been even more entertaining if it had been rated-R due to ultra vulgar language. The video below was created by DailyAsgardianNews. It was inspired by Jimmy Kimmel's "Unnecessary Censorship," and it is awesome.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 "Roll Call" Teaser Trailer

Lionsgate has released an exciting new teaser trailer for The Expendables 3 that they call "Roll Call." It previews some action-packed footage from the movie and features the cast members in action. That insane cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell and Kelsey Grammer.

I know there are a lot of people out there that thought the first two Expendables movies were shit, but I really did enjoy the hell out of them. Sometimes you can't care what everyone else thinks. Sometimes you just have to watch a movie for pure enjoyment, and that's what these movies are for me.

Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

The movie hits theaters on August 15th.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Villain Scene Details SPOILER

guardians-of-the-galaxy-spoiler-thanos-scene-details

It's no secret that Thanos will play a role in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed that bit of information himself. We now have a description of a brief scene featuring the villain, and there's no doubt it will make fans happy. I have no idea where the scene plays in the movie, but it sounds like something they might put at the very end. There are SPOILERS ahead, so if you don't want to know the details, then don't read ahead.

The following information comes from Bloomberg's recent visit to Marvel Studios, and it gives us an idea of what the collaboration between Feige and Gunn is like.

Gunn freezes a frame of an imposing-looking villain any serious comic book fan would recognize instantly. He sits on a rocket-powered throne. Feige sees something on the screen that he doesn’t like. The evildoer needs to be farther away in the frame so he looks more imperious, he says.

“I don’t know,” says Gunn. “I think it’s going to look cool, man.”

“You just don’t want him to feel petty in that way,” Feige says. “I think it’s a fine line.”

“How do you think it comes off as petty here?” Gunn says.

“He’s so damn close,” Feige says.

“Yeah,” concedes Gunn. “I think I’m going to have him floating in space.”

Feige is concerned about the throne, too. He points at the base. “Those don’t need to be rockets,” he says. “Maybe gravity disks?” Feige says he’ll check back later.

In the hallway he extracts a pledge not to name the bad guy. “That could not be a bigger spoiler,” Feige says.

The report says that Guardians of the Galaxy "could potentially spin off members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which include Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon, in their own features."

I always assumed that would be the case, as that's what the studio has done with all of their other characters. When they do move forward with these standalone films, I'm sure the first one will either be a Star-Lord or Rocket Racoon/Groot adventure, which would be amazing to see.

Jaguar has released a new commercial for their F-Type Coupe. It's a second ad for their The Art of Villainy campaign that started with the Super Bowl. It features Tom Hiddleston describing what makes a great villain. Basically, if you see anyone driving around this car, then you can bet your ass they're a villain, because it seems like the the target market for this car is villains. Hiddleston is great in it, and his fans are going to enjoy this.

First Look at Bruce Timm's Animated BATMAN Short "Strange Days"

These images give us our first look at Bruce Timm's animated short "Batman: Strange Days," which is supposed to air on Cartoon Network's DC Nation on April 9th, 2014. Timm produced the short as a part of Batman's 75th anniversary.

A brand new short from producer Bruce Timm featuring a lost tale from Batman’s past, the Dark Knight tracks a strange giant to the mysterious layer of Dr. Hugo Strange.

The short has a very 1940s film noir influence, with black-and-white aesthetics creating an old school crime drama vibe.

This looks like it's going to be a really cool short, and I'm looking forward to watching it.

Realistic Portrait of LILO & STITCH by Heather Theurer

Disney’s Lilo & Stitch is one of the only animated features that worked equally well, if not better, as a series. If you didn’t watch the animated series, which ran from 2003-2006 and featured nearly all of the original voice cast, you missed out big time. Chris Sanders, who conceived the story, co-directed the film, and provided the voice of Stitch, gave those characters and that world such unique designs and gravity that I never thought it would translate faithfully into live-action. This portrait has proven me wrong…

Artist Heather Theurer’s realistic take on Lilo & Stitch has a timelessness and emotional weight to it that makes me think a live-action feature would be possible in the right hands. Disney is rolling out a live-action version of Sleeping Beauty soon with Maleficent and a live-action Cinderella in 2015. Perhaps we will get to see a live-action Lilo & Stitch in our lifetime.

Heather Theurer’s “Ohana Means Family” is available for purchase here.

Darth Vader Voiced by Winnie the Pooh

During ConnectiCon, Jim Cummings (the voice of Winnie the Pooh) recreated some of the opening sequences of Star Wars by replacing the dark and menacing voice of Darth Vader with the gentle and befuddled voice of Winnie the Pooh. The crowd gets so into it that it's hard to hear at the start of the video, but stick with it because some of the funniest stuff is at the end. Cummings gets an assist from Lauren Landa, another voice actor doing her own odd twist on Princess Leia. Thanks to Boing Boing for pointing out this older but still fun video.

(This is a spoiler discussion of the movie. If you want to avoid those, make sure to check out Mily’s spoiler free review.)

I've known for a long time that Captain America: The Winter Solider was going to be an insanely good movie. There was no doubt that I was going to be happy with what Marvel delivered, and I was still blown away by how incredible the movie was! It blew away my expectations. Captain America: The Winter Solider is the best Marvel movie that has been made so far. It's even better than The Avengers, and I freakin' loved The Avengers! I thought it was going to be all downhill from there, but that hasn't been the case at all. Marvel just keeps making better movies.

I didn't want this movie going experience to end. I love movie where the audience gets involved and there is cheering and clapping during the movie watching experience. I sat near a little 8 or 9 year old boy dressed up in a Captain America costume, and seeing his reactions during the movie was almost as entertaining as the movie itself.

I was actually kind of shocked by the violence in the film. Not that it was a bad thing because it wasn't. It was awesome! There was so much death and destruction in the movie that I was actually surprised that Disney let a lot of that stuff slide. I won't go into details but people do die in very brutal, jaw-dropping ways. I know fans are going to love seeing that stuff. It's not done distastefully though, there were a lot of bad guys in the movie and they just needed to die.

Then there are the action sequences… wow. The action in this movie is so badass that it breaks the badass scale. The action is non-stop, with one scene after another of pure adrenaline greatness. It's hard to believe that this movie came from a Anthony and Joe Rosso who are known for their comedy. Speaking of which there is a solid amount of humor in the film as well which in its own way matches the magnificence of the death, action, chaos, and destruction.

As much as Marvel showed off in all of the trailers, TV spots, clips and featurettes for the film, I do have to say that Marvel managed to keep a lot of the plot points in the film hidden. There were a lot of surprises for me while I watched the movie. And yes, like Marvel president Kevin Feige previously teased, this movie forever changed the Marvel cinematic universe, and it's going to be really interesting to see how they deal with it from here on out. It was fun experiencing all of the twists and turns.

As for the cast of the film, everyone was fantastic! I really enjoyed the Falcon, and I hope that Marvel brings him back for some more adventures. It will be a shame if they don't implement him in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Black Widow once again stole my heart though… damn I love watching her kick ass on the big screen. Thank you Jon Favreau for casting Scarlett Johansson in Iron Man 2, because she's such an amazing actress who is truly perfect for this role. I'm excited about seeing her character develop even further.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier gave me the ultimate happy high. There's no reason that any of you should not see this movie. You will love it! Anyone that doesn't like this movie just doesn't like being entertained, because this is pure awe-inspiring entertainment!

SPOILER DISCUSSION:

One of the main things that I want to talk about is the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been infiltrated by Hydra since the beginning! We had an idea of that when a rumor hit the internet that Robert Redford's character was really Red Skull. That is not the case in this movie, but he was basically the head of Hydra. However, I do believe that Red Skull is still alive in the Marvel cinematic universe, that he is still secretly running Hydra groups, and that he will be back in the game for Cap to fight in Captain America 3

It is pretty crazy that S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer exists, and when our heroes brought it down, the first thing I thought was, "What are they going to do with Marvel's TV Show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?" The organization has been destroyed, and they can't really be S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore. I do love how S.H.I.E.L.D. is up to what happened in the movie though .

One of my favorite surprises was seeing Dr. Arnim Zola from Captain America: The First Avenger return. Zola was Red Skull's lead scientist, played by Toby Jones, and I thought it was really cool how they brought him back by having his brain downloaded into a bunch of computer servers. I'm pretty confident that this is the Clairvoyant in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It made me think of the upcoming Johnny Depp movie Transcendence, where Depp's character's brain is uploaded onto a server. Zola created an algorithm that can predict what people will do, where they will be, and where their allegiances lie. With this information, Hydra planned on killing millions of people for "the greater good," as they would say in Hot Fuzz. It was a great plotline, and the main reason why Captain America was hellbent on destroying S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all.

I also enjoyed Black Widow's story arc. Everything she ever did, bad and good, is now out in the open for the world to see. I'm really curious to see her story continue. It doesn't look like the government knows what to do with her. We know she'll be back in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and that it will continue that story arc, but I really would love to see it lead into a solo film. She deserves it. Black Widow has become one of my favorite characters in the Marvel cinematic universe.

With the post-credits scene of Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Solider, going through Captain America's Smithsonian Museum exhibit, I'm confident that he is on the road to becoming a good guy who could take over for Steve Rogers once Chris Evans is finished playing Captain America. Evans has said that he is looking to give up acting when his contract is done so that he can focus on directing. We also know that Sebastian Stan has a 9-picture deal with Marvel, which is a lot longer than Evans' deal. So there's a good chance he could end up taking his place.

As for the mid-credits sequence, it was extremely cool seeing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. These two characters are going to be a freaking rad addition to the Marvel universe, and I can't wait to see what Joss Whedon is planning for them in Age of Ultron

So much happened in Captain America: The Winter Solider the Marvel universe will never be the same. It's evolving and evoking something even better!

Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have cast three more actors in their highly anticipated Batman Vs. Superman

Those actors are Oscar winner Holly Hunter, 300: Rise Of An Empire star Callan Mulvey, and The Wolverine‘s Tao Okamoto. They will be playing new, unidentified characters in the film, and they will join Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Jeremy Irons (Alfred), Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane.

Snyder had this to say in a statement:

“Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses; she has immense talent and is always captivating on screen.  I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.

"I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ and was very impressed with his incredible talent. He’s a fantastic actor and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with him again.  And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress.  I’m really excited to have her joining us on this adventure.”

The movie will be released on May 6th, 2016. Everyone is curious to see what Snyder does with this film, but it looks like a lot of fan think he's going to screw it up. Let's see what happens.

Kristen Bell Sings “Want To Build A Snowman” as Anna at Three Different Ages

I had the wonderful privilege of seeing Idina Menzel perform “Let It Go” live at last year’s D23 Expo before Frozen came out. Should you be jealous? Yes, because she rocked that song like nobody’s business. I’m also thankful I watched her perform it then, long before everyone and their mother put up YouTube covers of the song and played it out… like nobody’s business. Luckily, I can still enjoy the other songs on that fantastic soundtrack.

In this live performance of “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” (a.k.a. the one the Internet hasn't ruined... yet), Kristen Bell reprises her role as Anna, singing as the character at three different ages. She does an amazing job of not just aging the character, but of also gradually evolving how well she can sing on pitch. It’s hard for a bad singer to sound good live, but it can be a difficult task for great singers to believably sing somewhat off tune and then get right back into the pocket.

Promo for NBC's ROSEMARY'S BABY

NBC has released another promo for their adaptation of Ira Levin's novel, Rosemary's Baby. The miniseries stars Zoe Saldana, Patrick J. Adams, and Jason Isaacs. I'm a big fan of this nightmarish story and the film that was directed by Roman Polanski. It looks like this series will be a solid adaptation.

Rosemary is the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.

There's not a set premiere date for the series yet, so stay tuned for that!

Hey Disney! It's Time to Make a Live-Action GARGOYLES Movie

$

Gargoyles_logo_color_1024.jpg

Gargoyles has been popping up around me a lot lately. There's a great set of fan art that I've shared, the whole series is on YouTube for your viewing pleasure now (and I've watched it), and then I recently had the opportunity to interview Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman. Being showered with all of this Gargoyles awesomeness makes me want Disney to finally make a live-action film, and I honestly don't understand why they haven't yet. When I asked Wiseman if there have been any talks with the studio regarding the movie, he said,

"Over the years, there has. But nothing current. Disney doesn’t seem interested in developing a movie based on the series at this time. I obviously hope that changes."

How can they not be interested?! That just seems silly to me. Over the last few years Disney has snatched up some major studios, including Marvel and Lucasfilm. Add Pixar Studio to that list, and they are a force to be reckoned with. What I find funny is that for all this time Disney has been sitting on one of their most popular properties ever. If Disney ever made Gargoyles, it would be a massive hit. Hell, they could even weave it into the Marvel universe if they wanted too! Personally, I think Gargoyles is awesome enough to stand on its own, though.

Remember that time Disney spent over $200 million making a Lone Ranger movie? And it ended up bombing at the box office? I love a good western, but even with Johnny Depp in one of the the lead roles it was bound to fail because, unfortunately, westerns aren't popular with audiences anymore. You know what is popular, though? Movies like Gargoyles. Had they taken that $200 million and invested it in a Gargoyles movie, cast Depp in the role of David Xanatos along with the original voice cast of the gargoyles, they would have made a killing! I'm not saying Depp is right for the part, I'm just saying that it would have been a better role for him than Tonto.

With the technology we have these days, the gargoyles in the movie would look incredible, and seeing those characters brought to life on the big screen would be a dream come true for every fan. With the epic story they could tell, I seriously think that they could have a Lord of the Rings sized franchise on their hands if they actually made it happen. I love Disney, but not making a Gargoyles film is one of the biggest mistakes they could ever make.

It makes me wonder if maybe they are waiting to see what happens with the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that Michael Bay is producing before they see if it's something they want to pursue, because the movies would somewhat be similar in how they would be made. If Ninja Turtles does well at the box office, it would add weight to the case I'm making. So I am keeping my fingers crossed for Ninja Turtles. It really does matter for our chances of seeing a Gargoyles movie.

If the studio really isn't interested in this, they need to change their way of thinking. It baffles me that this isn't something they wouldn't be excited about making. Disney has access to the best talent in the world. All they need to do is reach out to them and start the process of making a kick-ass movie. Of course Weisman needs to be involved. Hell, bring back the team the made the series!

I would love to go to San Diego Comic-Con one year and have the studio surprise fans with some teaser footage, just like they did with Tron: Legacy. Only I think Gargoyles would be way more successful than Tron was. Witnessing a reveal like that would be one of the coolest things they could do for the fans.

Gargoyles is a movie that ever single Disney fan wants to see made. What more does Disney want to finally start developing it? They have the means and the talent to do it, it's box office gold, and will do just as well as the Marvel movies are doing. Then there's the simple fact that it's an insanely cool franchise!

I love ya, Disney, but you've got to seriously make it happen. You'll thank me when it's made several hundred million dollars that you can dump into Scrooge McDuck's Money bin and then swim in it.

Daryl’s Poncho Infinity Scarf

None of us are as cool as Daryl Dixon, even with his current terrible haircut. We are not going to be able to pull off a poncho unless we go camping in Mexico. But we can pay tribute to the best character on The Walking Dead in a subtle way by rocking this infinity scarf inspired by his poncho. It’s something anyone would look good in. [Her Universe]

Spinning Solar System Pendant

This Norwegian goldsmith has more explicitly geeky offerings, like a sterling silver TARDIS necklace, and her Swirly Things collection looks like it would be popular in Lothlorien, but for our money, this spinning solar system pendant is the coolest, geekiest jewelry we’ve seen in a long time. Think of the hours you could spend spinning it waiting in line for Hall H. Unfortunately, only one is available until the artist recovers from wrist surgery, so you better jump on it fast. Wall decals are all the rage on Etsy these days, but they tend to be cutesy flowering trees or inspirational quotes. This is not that. World’s Smallest Solar Powered Car

We are all about going green, but full-size solar powered cars are a distant dream for most of us. Another video from the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron has surfaced, and it features some new shots of Captain America and Black Widow. Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson weren't seen on set, so these are their stunt doubles. The video comes from SSTVnews, and it features Cap getting reading to collide with a car windshield and Black Widow filming a chase sequence on a motorcycle. It going to be great to see these two characters fighting side-by-side again in Age of Ultron; they make an amazing team.
