We are less than a week away from being able to to watch Captain America: The Winter Solider! Marvel has released two more TV spots for the movie that include even more new footage. We're already crazy excited for the movie, I don't think we really need to see any more footage from it, but just in case you want to, here's the spot.

The 50 Greatest Days in Geek Movie History Are Upon Us

Is this going to be the greatest 50 days in movie history? In superhero history? In history… period? Quite possibly.

April 4th – Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Nick Fury. The reviews are extremely positive. Looks amazing. According to Marvel, it’s really The Avengers 1.5.

May 2nd – The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man, Electro, Green Goblin, Rhino. According to Sony, it’s the biggest Spider-Man movie in history. It will set up not only 2 more Spider-Man movies, but really an entire “Spidey-verse” they're launching in the coming years.

May 23rd – X-Men: Days of Future Past

Take a deep breath. Wolverine, 2 Professor X’s, 2 Magneto’s, Mystique, Storm, Kitty Pryde, Beast, Iceman, Bishop, Quicksilver, etc. According to Fox, this is just the very beginning of an X-Mennaissance. The movie that launches dozens of movies.

Certainly, the list of heroes, villains, legendary actors and flat-out gigantic movie stars on display in the next 50 days has never been close to approached — Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Halle Berry, Emma Stone, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, and Robert Freakin’ Redford. They're all there to bring our childhood dreams to life.

My 12 year-old self is high-fiving me right now. He can barely breathe. But first… before we dim the lights… some “Thank You’s”:

Thank You Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau. I honestly think the two of you haven’t made enough money off of all of this. Two guys who proved superheroes – even the more obscure ones – can become billion dollar brands on their own.

Thank You Sam Jackson. You truly are the godfather of all superhero movies. A bona fide enormous, global star who basically just said, “Yes… I’ll cameo in some movies… I’ll support some other movies… but don’t just put me in one or two of these things… put me in motherf---ing ALL of them. Let’s tie ALL this s—t together and blow people’s f---ing minds!”

Thank You Bryan Singer, Hugh Jackman and everyone from the original X-Men. Even when everyone thought it would be way too hard to have multiple heroes in one movie… way too confusing… you all were just like, “Nope… take a look at this.” And poof… something like The Avengers didn’t look that hard anymore.

Thank You Stan Lee. You know why.

And of course… Thank You Kevin Feige and the entire Marvel team for the MCU. Sony, for the new Spider-Man plan. FOX, for the new X-Men plan. Disney, for the future of Star Wars. WB, for the future of all things Harry Potter. For futures we don’t even know exist yet. All of our dreams are coming true… all of our 12 year-old selves our applauding and cheering in unison. And for that we thank all of you.

I can smell the popcorn already.

Earlier today we posted a great first TV spot for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes featuring the apes preparing for war. We now have a new poster for the film that shows Andy Serkis' Caesar with his baby, and I'm sure he will do everything he can to protect his family.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

The film also stars Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, Enrique Murciano, and Judy Greer. It's set to be released on July 11th.

This is a teaser to a great looking sci-fi short film called Construct. It was created by Kevin Margo, a CG Supervisor and director of Blur Studio VFX. Some of his work can be seen in the Batman Arkham games and Halo game trailers. Construct is described as "a Sci-Fi short film advancing the art of filmmaking, VFX and virtual production."

This teaser was presented as part of a tech demo at Nvidia's GTC conference March 25, 2014. This is a work in progress intended to illustrate recent advancements in graphics hardware and software capabilities.

What they released teases what looks to be a really fun and intriguing story with incredibly well done special effects. I'm looking forward to seeing how this film turns out. Thanks to /Film for the heads up!

FOX has officially released the first domestic TV Spot for Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. This is the same spot that aired during the season finale of The Walking Dead Season 4 last night. There seems to be so much going on in the story for this movie, and I hope Singer had a great script to make sense of it all. This looks like it could be a trilogy of films if they wanted it to be. The movie comes out on May 23rd.

At Denver Comic-Con actor a little girl asked Will Wheaton how he dealt with being called a nerd growing up. This is a video of his great, heartfelt response, which is basically an "it's not you, it's them" kind of thing. He then moves to the "It gets better" part of the speech. All I know is that being a geek or nerd has never been so popular, so there's no better time to embrace it. It definitely wasn't cool when I was growing up!

Music from Batman Mashes Perfectly with Harry Potter

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt 2 is one of the darkest entries in the Harry Potter series. I think that;s why this video works so well! "The Dark Knight Hallows" is the opening two minutes of the film set to Hans Zimmer's now iconic track, "Rise," featured in The Dark Knight Rises. The story goes, supposedly, that the creator of the clip realized this when watching Harry Potter while simultaneously playing The Dark Knight Rises soundtrack on his laptop. While I would love to believe that, who tries to enjoy a movie listening to other music?!

This would not be the first time someone has synched a Hans Zimmer musical score with another film, lest we forget every fan-made trailer that has featured the opening music from Inception. Whether intentional or not, there is no denying that the two sync very well together. The fact that no video editing took place in the clip further highlights this fact! So whatever motivated MrHelsinkiValo to do this, it's still very impressive. Not quite as impressive, however, as how long that Warner Brothers logo stays on the screen!  In case you don't want to take the time to count, that zoom in on the logo accounted for 25 seconds of the opening.

Andrew Lincoln Discusses THE WALKING DEAD Season 4 Finale

The season finale of The Walking Dead was literally bloody insane! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. They should have known that Terminus was going to be a shitstorm! That place was a cannibal's house of horror dream. Those people in that place are evil as hell, but come next season, Rick and his group are going to show them how real survivors do it. In a recent interview with THR, series star Andrew Lincoln discusses the season finale and what we might see next season. Obviously, spoilers abound. Here's an excerpt of the Q&A went down, and it's definitely worth your time to read it. I thought I would hate how they ended the season, but I actually ended up loving it.

What was it like taking a "bite" out of Jeff Kober's neck?

It was brutal. It was 4:30 in the morning. We did 95 setups or so of that scene alone leading up to the bite. I remember [EP and VFX guru] Greg Nicotero looking at me earlier in the day and saying, "We're doing the gag. Do you want chicken or beef?" I asked for the chicken, and Greg asked if I wanted it cooked or raw. I asked which was the closest to flesh. He said uncooked, and that is what we went with. It was a rite of passage. It was the gnarliest thing I've ever had to do. I didn't realize how my body would feel with raw chicken flesh in my mouth among all the other blood gags in the scene. There was one take where I felt close to a wretch. After that, I picked up the knife and stabbed this other guy, and he kept spitting a full mouth of blood into my eyes every take. (Laughs.) It was beyond gruesome. Sometimes that happens in this show and it just became wrong again. It was so shocking reading it that I actually asked [showrunner] Scott M. Gimple if we were overstepping a mark. "Is there a line in the sand that we're going over?" When I did the scene and saw my son being attacked by these guys, it just made sense. He had this completely animalistic reaction.

Rick savagely killed the man who tried to rape Carl -- with his son watching that whole attack. How will seeing that impact Carl considering the kid already thinks he's a monster?

That scene was supposed to be more graphic, and we played it more graphic than that, which was a justification for the throat rip and everything, because it's something any father seeing his son about to be raped would probably do. It's interesting territory to explore: Can the man and the monster live in the same body? How does that work? Is it possible? Can that schizophrenic idea exist? It's very disturbing; the gloves came off in a couple of these episodes in the back eight. The child witnessing that and saying it didn't affect me. Carl has that scene with Michonne where she thinks he was frightened by his father. Carl says it's the opposite; that he wasn't disturbed or frightened by it; he wanted to watch. That's a deeply disturbing area that we're possibly heading toward next season.

How much darker can we expect Rick to get?

That reminds me of Spinal Tap: "How much more black could this be?" "None more black." So none more dark than we've just seen. (Laughs.) We've had these ridiculously grand and Greek tragedy kind of moments in our show -- the death of Lori, Sophia coming out of the barn and having to be put down -- and you think, "No way can we buy this." That's been the scale of the writing on the show; they find a way to make it justified. When I bit Joe's throat, it made sense to me when I did it. It may not have made sense on the page, but the intention of it was telling everybody that he's like a wolf; he's so primal. It was so guttural and animalistic. The short answer is we're trapped by these guys, and I imagine it'll get pretty messy. Frankly, there's nothing I like more than playing crazy badass Rick Grimes -- and he is pissed at the moment. I don't know what Scott has planned, but I've been texting other castmembers, and we should improvise a few scenes because these kids -- we call those who live at Terminus the Termites -- are going to get it!

Street Fantasy Art Series by Francesco Simioni

Mashups are a popular item these days, and it seems pretty much every franchise has at least a dozen or so to their name. That said, this one had not come my way yet, and I thought  it deserved some love. Francesco Simioni has a fondness for both Final Fantasy and Street Fighter and so started a series of works mashing together characters from both. Featured above is my favorite, starring Chun-Li and Fang (of Final Fantasy XIII), but I've included some other entries down below. You can also find a few more at his Deviant Art page, and if you have any suggestions, make sure to send them his way.

So, what would your recommendations be? My picks would be a Red XIII mixed with Blanka, or a Wakka and DJ mix. Yeah, you didn't think I'd fit Wakka in there, but AH HA!

Disney's Sword in the Stone is a beautifully animated classic, and CGHUB artist murph created this awesome piece of fan art for it. It features the scene where Arthur comes face to face with the sword. Here's a comment from the artist:

"I took a screenshot from Sword in the Stone and painted on top of it.. adding lighting and some texture. Fun exercise!"

I love the final product. It definitely gives the scene more life.

Just in case you need another reason not to make a sex tape… The Cloud. Here's a red-band trailer for Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz's new comedy Sex Tape. This actually looks like it could be a funny movie, but I enjoy Segel's comedy style. The movie was directed by Jake Kasdan, and it also stars Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper and Rob Lowe. Here's the synopsis:

When Jay (Segel) and Annie (Diaz) first got together, their romantic connection was intense – but ten years and two kids later, the flame of their love needs a spark. To kick things up a notch, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in The Joy of Sex in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea – until they discover that their most private video is no longer private. With their reputations on the line, they know they're just one click away from being laid bare to the world... but as their race to reclaim their video leads to a night they'll never forget, they'll find that their video will expose even more than they bargained for.

It's scheduled to be released in theaters July 25th.

Samuel L. Jackson Talks About THE INCREDIBLES 2

Earlier this month is was announced that director Brad Bird is developing a sequel to his awesome animated film The Incredibles for Pixar. This is something I've wanted to happen since I saw the movie for the first time in theaters. At the time I thought it had amazing potential to be a successful franchise. It's great to see the studio is finally moving forward with a sequel.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Samuel L. Jackson, who provided the voice of Frozone in the first film, talked about the sequel, and he believes that he will be back!

"Every time I run into Brad (Bird) he always tells me Frozone is going to be part of whatever's going on, so I have to believe that. I guess they would be the Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful, wonderful addition to what's already there. I'm just looking forward to seeing what Jack-Jack turned into."

Of course Frozone needs to be back! He was such a funny character in the first movie. There's no word on who will officially return for the sequel, but there's still a lot of time before it actually goes into production. Bird is currently working on Disney's sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland.
