Sony has released a couple new promo spots for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. One of them is for the movie, the other is for the tie-in video game that gives fans a walkthrough of the game. The movie is set to be released on May 2nd, and the game on April 29th.
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 - Promo Spots for Movie and Video Game
Amazing Life-Size TITANFALL Mech Display
I've been hooked on the video game Titanfall since I picked it up. The game is freakin' awesome and the graphics, tone, and designs are incredible. Of course while playing it I've thought about how cool it would be if the Titan mechs in the game were real. Well, here are some photos that gives us a glimpse of what a life-size Titan would look like. This a promo display of the Atlas model Titan "Betty," which is part of a roving marketing campaign in Europe for the game. I've also included a few photos of some live action pilots from the game thanks to Slash Gear. I really hope that Titanfall gets a live action film adaptation.
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - Official Set Photos
20th Century Fox has released three official photos from the set of director Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. They feature some human/ape performances by Toby Kebbell as Koba and a few of his ape agitators, as well as Andy Serkis as Caesar. There's also shots of Jason Clarke's Malcolm and Keri Russell's Ellie. When talking to Empire, Serkis offered up some details about the story saying,
"This is now a community of about 2,000 apes. For the first eight years [after the humanity-devastating virus], the apes were looking down from Muir Woods to San Francisco and could see lights and fires, but now it's gone very quiet. Until this day in our film when this small band of humans comes up. That's suddenly a huge, dividing moment in the lives of these apes. There are some particularly strong reactions to the humans and that's the course of the story."
The movie comes out on July 11th, and I hope we get to see another trailer for it soon.
Sci-Fi Conspiracy Crime Thriller Short - MANIFOLD
I've got another excellent short film for you all to check out today. It's a very ambitious multi-layered crime drama that also includes some sci-fi elements. The short was written and directed by Anthony Scott Burns, and he created something that I really enjoyed.
In the story a small-town sheriff investigates a grisly murder scene linked to a brilliant young software engineer, but his investigation uncovers a much larger conspiracy.
The short leaves off on an open ending that left me wanting more. It kind of left me scratching my head, but I'm pretty sure that's what the director's intention was. The narrative definitely leaves most of the work to the viewer's imagination, which is great.
Beth Featured in New WALKING DEAD Promo Poster
It looks like Beth is going to be back in time for the season finale of The Walking Dead Season 4. It's good to see that she's alive and pissed off after being abducted by someone a couple of episodes back. I'm sure this final episode is going to start off hopeful, but you can bet your ass that it's going end in the most dark and dreary way. Here's a short little description of the season finale.
"As multiple paths collide, Rick comes face to face with sheer brutality. Will he and the group have what it takes to survive?"
Must Watch Incredible Short Thriller - THE LAST TEN
You've got to watch this incredible, unconventional short film called The Last Ten. I loved this thing. It's beautifully shot and the story is intriguing. It was written and directed by David Higgs, and the story shows us the last ten minutes of a man's life. I absolutely love how the director played with the lighting and sound in the short. This is the kind of film that I think Alfred Hitchcock would be proud of. Here's brief synopsis:
A nameless man arrives home one evening, he steps in from the pouring rain and contemplates the towering stairwell that separates him from his apartment. He begins his ascent, unaware of the impending disaster that awaits him at the top. He has ten minutes left to live. His wife has even less.
Once you start watching this you wont be able to stop. It's just so damn good!
TV Spot for Disney's MALEFICENT with More Footage
Disney has released a new TV spot for Disney's Maleficent featuring even more footage from the film. It will air on TV during the Kids' Choice Awards, but thanks to ComingSoon you won't have to sit through that to be able to see it. Angelina Jolie stars in the amazing looking fantasy adventure film that comes out on May 30th!
Action Packed Stormtrooper STAR WARS Art - Fire Assault
Check out this brutally awesome series of Star Wars concept art featuring some action-packed scenes of Stormtroopers in the middle of a fire assault. They were created by artist Richard Lim for Star Wars: First Assault, which is a cancelled game from LucasArts.
Poster for TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION has Wahlberg on the Run
Paramount Pictures has released a new poster for Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction. It features Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz on the run from a menacing looking spaceship that is sure to cause some massive damage. You'll get to watch all of the fun destruction unfold on June 27th when the movie is released.
Trailer for ONCE Director's New Film BEGIN AGAIN with Mark Ruffalo
Once director John Carney is back with another music based movie called Begin Again. I loved the film Once, and I was hoping that we'd get another movie from the filmmaker. The movie stars Mark Ruffalo as an ex-record label executive who comes in contact with a broken hearted Keira Knightley as she is performing one of her songs at a bar in New York City. From there they form an unexpected relationship. It looks like another great film from Carney. The movie also stars Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, Catherine Keener, Mos Def, and CeeLo Green. Here's the synopsis:
Written and directed by John Carney, Begin Again is a soul-stirring comedy about what happens when lost souls meet and make beautiful music together. Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who come to New York when he lands a deal with a major label. His new-found fame soon tempts Dave to stray, leaving a reeling, lovelorn Gretta on her own. Her world takes a turn for the better when Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label exec, stumbles upon her performance in the East Village and is immediately captivated by her raw talent. From this chance encounter emerges a mutually transformative collaboration set to a summer in New York City soundtrack.
The movie comes out on July 4th.

Really Cool Animation of Joseph Gordon-Levitt
I love this little animated piece piece of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It was created by comic book artist Carli Ihde and was rotoscoped in 89 frames. I came across it over on Gizmodo who says they would like to see an entire short movie done in this style… I couldn't agree more.
Marvel's Animated Film BIG HERO SIX Casts T.J. Miller as Fred
One of my most anticipated animated movies to come from Disney is Marvel's Big Hero Six. The movie looks like it's going to be awesome, and it has all the makings of a big hit. Actor and comedian T.J. Miller (Cloverfield, How to Train Your Dragon, She's Out of My League) has confirmed that he will be the voice of Fred in the film. Fred is a comic book fanboy and aspiring filmmaker in the story.
The movie is being directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Mulan, The Emperor’s New Groove). Here's a previously released synopsis:
“Big Hero 6” features brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studio.
Apparently Fred volunteers himself as a test subject for an experiment run by Hiro’s brother Tadashi, and then sticks around a tech lab research team to help out with their robot projects. Fred is described as “quirky and weird,” and in the comics he’s able to turn himself into a giant lizard creature called Fredzilla.
The stereoscopic 3D/CG film hits theaters on November 7th, 2014.

STAR WARS Main Title Theme Epically Played on Organ
This video of Jelani Eddington playing the main title theme from Star Wars on a pipe organ is spectacularly epic. It starts out a little slow, but as it goes on it builds into complete awesomeness. It takes a lot of talent and a lot of practice to play an organ this freakin' good.
Teaser Trailer for Drew Barrymore's Horror Film ANIMAL
This is the first teaser trailer to the Drew Barrymore produced horror thriller Animal. It basically looks like every other horror film that takes place in the woods. The trailer features a group of friends running through the forest being chased by an unseen creature. No offense, but something like this can be shot by an amateur filmmaker. The trailer gives me nothing to spark my interest or excitement. It's a something we've seen a thousand times before.
The story follows "a group of close-knit friends who find themselves stranded in unfamiliar territory, pursued by a blood-thirsty predator. Holed up in [an] isolated cabin, tensions mount as secrets are revealed. As the body count rises, the group puts their differences aside and fights for survival."
Like I said, it's like every other conventional horror movie that takes place in the woods. The movie was directed by Brett Simmons and it stars Keke Palmer, Amaury Nolasco, Parker Young, Joey Lauren Adams, Elizabeth Gillies, Paul Iacono, Eve, Thorsten Kaye, and Jeremy Sumpter.
The movie comes out on May 1st 2014. Thanks to THR for the trailer.
Peter Dinklage Joins Adam Sandler's PIXELS
Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in negotiations to join Adam Sandler in the upcoming retro video game invasion film Pixels. The movie will be directed by Chris Columbus and will also star Kevin James and Josh Gad.
The movie is based on a short film of the same name that sees several popular characters from 1980s video games attacking New York City. According to The Wrap, the heroes of the film are "a group of video game experts who are recruited by the government to help deal with the threat."
If cast, Dinklage will play the film's fourth lead role, who will most likely be one of the video game experts. The actor recently played the villain, Bolivar Trask, in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Hot Toys' CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Winter Soldier Collectible Figure
Hot Toys has released a ton of photos of their latest collectible 1/6 scale figure for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This one is of the title villain played by Sebastian Stan, who is going to cause a crazy amount of chaos in the film.
“He's fast... strong... and has a metal arm.” In Marvel Studios blockbuster, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America will be drawn into conflict and forced to confront the powerful Winter Soldier in intense battles. In anticipation for the movie’s release, Hot Toys is proud to present the new 1/6th scale Winter Soldier Collectible Figure.
The movie-accurate collectible is specially crafted based on the image of Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier in the film. It features two interchangeable head sculpts, metal-like left arm with red star emblem, detailed costume and weapons. Fans don’t pass up on the opportunity to pre-order this tough adversary of Captain America.
Disney Hires Magician to Produce a Movie about Magic
Disney recently picked up a movie pitch that is based around the world of magic, and they hired a real illusionist named Derek DelGaudio to produce the film. The movie doesn't have a title yet, and all we know at this point is that it tackles "the history of magic’s last 100 years as seen through the eyes of one magician." The script for the film will be written by Keith Bunin.
DelGaudio is an award-winning magician who is known for his sleight of hand and card tricks. He's also an artist-in-residence at Walt Disney Imagineering so he already has a connection with the studio. He's the one that helped bring this project to life.
The movie will also be produced by Justin Springer, who worked on Tron: Legacy and is also developing a live-action version of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Disney's remake of The Black Hole.
I'm a huge fan of magic, and I'm looking forward to learning more about what this movie will entail.

Tyreese Featured on Latest WALKING DEAD Season Finale Poster
AMC has released another poster for their "… Who Will Arrive?" marketing campaign for The Walking Dead. This latest one features Tyreese, who is looking frustrated as hell, and Carol who is following him with a blank stare. Bad things await the characters in this last episode of the season. I'm preparing myself for a very depressing and shocking end to the season.
