The New Rules of Robot/Human Society Video Essay

Real life technology is catching up with the robot technology we've seen imagined in the movies and other forms of sci-fi entertainment over the years. There's going to come a time when robots and humans will have to coexist -- let's just hope that they don't rise against us in the process. Here's a great video essay from PBS Off Book called "The New Rules of Robot/Human Society" that breaks down how things should work between the two when the time comes.

As technology speeds forward, humans are beginning to imagine the day when robots will fill the roles promised to us in science fiction. But what should we be thinking about TODAY, as robots like military and delivery drones become a real part of our society? How should robots be programmed to interact with us? How should we treat robots? And who is responsible for a robot's actions? As we look at the unexpected impact of new technologies, we are obligated as a society to consider the moral and ethical implications of robotics.

So why can't we just make a rule that robots won’t rise up against us? Maybe secretly we really do want to see a robot uprising happen.

A couple of days ago, details on the mid and post-credits sequences from Captain America: The Winter Soldier were revealed. One of them will carry the movie into Avengers: Age of UltronKevin Feige revealed at the Captain America: The Winter Soldier press junket that Joss Whedon directed that sequence. If you want to read what exactly the scene entails click here, and you can watch the video interview with Feige below thanks to Collider. Below the video is another interview in which Scarlett Johansson gushes over the script for Age of Ultron.

This is what Johansson had to say when asked about Whedon's Age of Ultron script:

“I was just amazed—Joss [Whedon] is something else, he really is. He locks himself away for God knows how long; I think he has the dark circles to prove it. [He] just came out with something totally solid. I was really impressed by his ability to make this ever-expanding Marvel universe feel very close-knit and cerebral and progressive. I mean this movie feels like the continuation of The Avengers, it doesn’t feel like a tag-on or the rehashed version or just ‘let’s throw a bunch of new characters in there and keep the thing alive.’ It really feels like the next step, and all of our characters, our relationships with one another continue to progress, become more intertwined, more complicated, more meshed. The film has a lot of great comic book moments that the fans are gonna love, but it’s also got a lot of really great dramatic moments that audience members, I think, will really relate to.”

You can watch that video interview with her below, also thanks to Collider:

Fan-Made MATRIX Film - TRICKSTER

We've got a really cool fan-made Matrix film for you to watch today called Trickster. It was written and directed by Felix Joleanes, and the special effects are really impressive. There's not much of a story, but it's still a fun watch.

Trickster is a small Live-action short film based on the Matrix movie, it's a fan-made film to see how far we can go with our skills in Film making and Visual effects. This is a non-profit project produced solely for the personal enjoyment of our team.

The project was born in 2013 when Antonio, a friend of mine, suggested to make a video with a Sentinel 3D model that i made some time ago for fun. I was hooked since the beginning with the idea, i wrote a small synopsis and then a 3 page script, the project started to grow more than i expected. At the beginning we only thought of making a small visual effects integration video and then we ended up with a 3 minute live action short film.

It was recently rumored that The Wachowskis are in the process of developing a new Matrix trilogy. There's been no confirmation or denial of that, but I do hope it's true.

Jamie Foxx and Kevin Hart are in talks to star in a film together called Black Phantom, which is going to be directed by Ride Along helmer Tim Story. According to Variety, the story follows "a double-crossed mob hitman who enlists the help of the Black Phantom, the same African-American hitman who had been sent to kill him."

It seems like Foxx and Hart would make a fun onscreen team. Apparently Foxx has been interested in working with Hart in a film, and it looks like this could be a great fit for the two of them.

Ride Along was actually a really fun movie, so this will be a great team of talent to bring this movie to life

NEED FOR SPEED Movie Review - High Octane Entertainment

I've been a big fan of the Need for Speed video game franchise since it was introduced to the world back in 1994. It's actually my favorite racing video game franchise. I've played all of the other racing games, but there was something always a bit more thrilling about Need for Speed. I think it's because of the whole demolition aspect of it (a.k.a. crashing the hell out of cars). I was really excited when I heard that a movie was going to be made based on these games. I had no idea what direction they would take with the story, as there are so many different elements to the game that the filmmakers could spin the movie into whatever they wanted. Everything that I saw in the trailers and featurettes were awesome, and it looked like it was going to be a fun entertaining movie… Guess what? It was!

I had an absolute blast watching Need for Speed. It was just as fun watching the film play out on the big screen as it was to play the video games. It was entertaining as hell! You're not going to see this movie for the good storyline and a good script. Although, I have to say that those were actually decent aspects of the film. I wasn't expecting much from the writing or plot, but it was better than I thought it'd be, which is always a plus. That being said, you're most likely going to see a movie like this because of the action, the crazy car racing, and the total destruction, and there's definitely plenty of all that in the movie. What I loved most about the movie is that there were no big CGI special-effects in the movie to bring the car racing to life. It was all done practically, with real drivers and real cars. That's a rare thing to see in films these days, and it made all the difference in the world. It gave the film a grounded feel to it. I couldn't be happier with how all of the intense racing scenes turned out, they were spectacular. I also want to say that the cinematography for the movie was incredible. I also love how they implemented elements of the game into the movie, it made it that much more fun for me.

The film's star, Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad, was freaking awesome. You already know he's a great actor from the TV series that he starred in, but he is able to bring that same intensity into into his character on this film. I really enjoyed his performance. I think Paul fans are going to be happy with what he delivered in this movie. As for the rest of the cast, which includes Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Michael Keaton, Dakota Johnson, Rami Makek, Ramon Rodriguez, and Scott Mescudi… they all did great, they did the best job they could bringing their characters to life. I thought most of the characters that were in the movie were really fun. I also just want to point out that Keaton's over the top performance in this movie was a fresh of breath air. He played a character named Monarch in the story, who is a reclusive and eccentric host of an underground supercar race competition. I freakin' loved seeing that crazy wild Keaton back on the big screen! It makes me want to see more.

Look, if you like action-packed race car movies, you're going enjoy this one. It delivers solid entertainment, and I definitely think fans of the game are going to enjoy it. If you're looking for a fun movie to watch then go see Need For Speed! I'm sure there's going to be people out there that roll their eyes at some of the stuff in the film, but this is a fun popcorn flick. If you just give yourself up to the movie, and realize that it's just pure entertainment for you to enjoy... then you'll enjoy it!

GAME OF THRONES Will End After Seven Seasons

I find it somewhat disappointing to report that Entertainment Weekly has stated seven seasons is the end game for Game of Thrones. Conflicting reports have traveled around the web stating that 8 was a possibility as well, and while that was indeed mentioned as a possibility, it seems the writers and show runners think seven is the sweet spot.

“It was our unstated goal, because to start on a show and say your goal is seven seasons is the height of lunacy. Once we got to the point where we felt like we’re going to be able to tell this tale to its conclusion, that became [an even clearer] goal. Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us.”

This, in my opinion, further solidifies speculation that a good deal of story on the Southern Kingdoms will be cut from the series at the interest of finishing out the story we are seeing. As of now the writers are saying they will work with George R.R. Martin to give the series the ending it needs, but I doubt he will give them the ending of his series when he still has two books to write. It appears the show and the books are set to have two drastically different endings, which isn't ideal, but at the rate the Stark children are maturing both sides are left with little option.

Pastor Says Disney's FROZEN Indoctrinates Homosexuality and Bestiality

I loved Disney's Frozen, and of course my kids loved it! It was just a fun, wholesome movie that all families can enjoy. But Pastor and Generations Radio host Kevin Swanson would have to disagree with me. You see… he thinks that the movie indoctrinates homosexuality, bestiality, and satanism. What makes this even more ridiculous is the fact that he and the other host haven't even seen the movie. Here's what they say,

"Man, how many children are taken into these things and how many Christians are taking their kids off to see the movie Frozen, produced by an organization that is probably one of the most pro-homosexual organizations in the country? You wonder sometimes, I’m not a tinfoil hat conspiratorialist, but you wonder sometimes if maybe there’s something very evil happening here. If I was the Devil, what would I do to really foul up an entire social system and do something really, really, really evil to 5- and 6- and 7-year-olds in Christian families around America?...If I was the Devil, I would buy Disney in 1984, that’s what I would have done."

The guy sounds like a tinfoil hat conspiratorialist to me! His host then responds saying,

"Then you would start making all these nice little movies that throw little things in there that make sin look enticing, in fact some of the worst of sins, make it look enticing or at least to start to indoctrinate slowly, turn the heat up on the frog in the pan."

Swanson continues saying,

"Friends, this is evil, just evil. I wonder if people are thinking: 'You know I think this cute little movie is going to indoctrinate my 5-year-old to be a lesbian or treat homosexuality or bestiality in a light sort of way.' I wonder if the average parent going to see Frozen is thinking that way. I wonder if they are just walking in and saying, 'Yeah, let’s get my five-year-old and seven-year-old indoctrinated early.' You know they’re not, I think for the most part they’re oblivious. Maybe they do pick up on pieces of it but they just don’t get up and walk out."

These guys are all kinds of crazy, and you can listen to them in this segment from their podcast below.

Lionsgate has released four new film clips for their upcoming sci-fi thriller Divergent. The clips don't do much to sell me on the movie, but fans of the book series should enjoy them. Like all films, I hope this turns out to be decent, but only time will tell.

The movie was directed by Neil Burger, and it stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, and Zoë Kravitz. It will be released in theaters and IMAX March 21st, 2014.

DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.

J.J. Abrams has been meeting with several young actors for Star Wars: Episode VII, and now Variety has revealed five actors currently in the running, and they are Downton Abbey actor Ed Speleers, Attack the Block star John Boyega, Friday Night Lights star Jesse Plemons, and theater actors Matthew James Thomas, and Ray Fisher.

Apparently the search is still on so anything can still change at this point. These actors are currently on the top of the list. There are no details on who the character is, but there's speculation that it's for a Jedi apprentice. I'm still rooting for Plemons.

The report also says that the "reason for the delay has to do whether execs and creatives want someone of a different ethnicity from the previous Caucasian leads. Abrams has said on numerous occasions that he wants to have a diversified cast, which is why actors like David Oyewolo and Michael B. Jordan tested early on."

The movie will start shooting the movie in the late second quarter or early third quarter at London’s Pinewood Studios. It's scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18th, 2015.
