Red-Band Tailer for Ti West's Cult Film THE SACRAMENT

This is the red-band trailer for the disturbing-looking Eli Roth-produced cult thriller, The Sacrament. The film was directed by Ti West (The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil), and the story follows two journalists who set out to document their friend’s search to find his missing sister. They end up at a cult compound where things take a turn for the worse. The movie is inspired by the infamous Jonestown Massacre were hundreds of people committed mass suicide by drinking poisoned Kool-Aid.

The Sacrament follows two Vice media correspondents as they set out to document their friend’s search to find his missing sister. They travel outside of the United States to an undisclosed location where they are welcomed into the world of “Eden Parish,” a self-sustained rural utopia comprised of nearly 200 members.

At the centre of this small, religious, socialist community is a mysterious leader known only as “Father.” As their friend reunites with his sister, it becomes apparent to the newcomers that this paradise may not be as it seems. What started as just another documentary shoot soon becomes a race to escape with their lives.

Look for the film on VOD on May 1st, followed by a theatrical run this June 6th. The film stars AJ Bowen, Amy Seimetz, Gene Jones, Joe Swanberg, and Kentucker Audley.

Leonard Nimoy Hosts 1983 RETURN OF THE JEDI Documentary

Back in the 1980s Leonard Nimoy hosted a cool short documentary on George Lucas' Return of the Jedi. It was a part of a show he had on Nickelodeon called Standby: Lights! Camera! Action! It basically gave kids a behind the scenes look at various TV shows and movies. I haven't seen this show in forever, but I remember when it was on TV. They should bring it back!

This little behind-the-scenes doc is the is the closest that Nimoy ever really got to being a part of the Star Wars franchise. It is kind of fun to watch Nimoy geek out on it though. There's a lot of great footage here that fans of the franchise will definitely enjoy.

Thanks to movies.com for the heads up.

Trailer for the R-Rated Version of ANCHORMAN 2 Coming Out Next Week

trailer-for-the-r-rated-version-of-anchorman-2-coming-out-next-week.jpg

Paramount Pictures will be re-releasing Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues in theaters next week. What's great about the re-release is that it will be an R-rated cut that includes 763 new jokes.

Director Adam McKay talked to New York Times about the recut and says that 95% of the jokes are new, and this extended version adds about 20 extra minutes to the film. He goes on to say,

“We started talking and realized, we can replace every single joke in the movie with another joke, you should feel free to get up, go the bathroom. This is a stitched up, Frankenstein version, with misfires, obscure send-ups and plenty of jokes to match Mr. Ferrell’s off-color jacket.”

It's going to be really fun to see the same movie packed fun of different kinds of jokes. The first cut of the film was a blast to watch, and I imagine this recut will be just as funny. The super-sized cut of Anchorman: The Legend Continues arrives on February 28th for one week only.

A Warning to Popular Kids Today - IT DOESN’T GET BETTER

“For most kids in high school, the future promises better days. But for a certain group, there’s no time like the past.”

Geek culture has become so widely accepted and adopted by the mainstream that I’m not sure the stereotypical Jock vs. Nerd/Geek war still exists. One thing is for sure though, a-holes still exist. If you’re popular but also an a-hole, or just shallow for that matter, this video is a message of warning to you. As for everyone else, you will thoroughly enjoy these fictional, but all-too-real confessions.

It Doesn’t Get Better” was written and directed by Jason Headley. Be sure to check out his channel for more funny shorts you’re sure to enjoy, as well as some famous and familiar commercials that he’s worked on.

"Now it's personal."

Marvel released an exciting new TV spot for Captain America: The Winter Soldier with a few bits of new footage for you to check out. Cap is going to find himself in the middle of a big, action-packed mess. There's a potential big SPOILER in this spot. I won't mention it, but if you notice it while you're watching it, then that's your problem! The movie is set to be released on April 4th, and I'm so freakin' excited to see how this next chapter in Cap's story is going to play out.

HANNIBAL's Mads Mikkelsen Up for DOCTOR STRANGE Role?

Marvel is looking to finally get their Doctor Strange movie into production, and they are currently talking to four potential directors for the project. Bleeding Cool has reported that one of those directors is linked to an actor that the studio is considering for the film. That actor is Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen, and the director is Nikolaj Arcel. They worked together on a film called A Royal Affair

There's no information on what character the actor would play in the movie, but I don't think it's Stephen Strange. I assume he'd be up for a villainous role. The site mentions that they have no idea if the actor is still being looked at, or if he was just in the mix of actors very early on in the casting process.

I should probably also mention that this wouldn't be the first time that Mikkelsen was up for a Marvel movie role. The studio was looking to cast him as the villain in Thor: The Dark World at one point. So it makes sense that the studio would have kept him in mind for another role somewhere down the line.

Now that the ball is starting roll on this movie, I'm sure the casting rumors are going to be flying. As always, we'll keep you updated on any developments.

Watch Brilliant SpongeBob SquarePants/Watchmen Mashup

I don’t know how Rodrigo Huerta does it. His mashups are just head and shoulders above the rest. His Pokémon and King of the Hill mashup went viral last year, and this new video is destined to do the same. "SpongeMen SquareWatch" somehow perfectly captures the tone and aesthetic of both Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants and Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. The animation, voice work, and music are so spot on that the gags don’t need to be huge to make you laugh. The accuracy and attention to detail given to each property is genius enough.

I’ve also embedded the "Poké-King-of-the-Mon-Hill" video for you to watch below in case you missed it.

All of the films nominated for Best Picture as the Oscars this year are great and worth checking out. It's safe to say that most of them are pretty dark and/or depressing, but it's nothing that a bunch of cute kids can't make adorable.

CineFix brought together a bunch of kids to reenact scenes from the Oscar nominated films. Those films include Her, Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, Captain Phillips, Nebraska, Dallas Buyers Club, and Philomena

Gravity was a visually stunning film, and the special effects were freakin' amazing! The ways they pulled off those special effects were equally as awesome, and we have a video that you have to watch that shows us what went into bringing this movie to life. The effects were done by Framestore, and the video is called "Gravity Show and Tell." This stuff is very eye-opening and kind of mind-blowing, so I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks to Firstshowing for pointing this out to us.

Viggo Mortensen to Star in CAPTAIN FANTASTIC - Not a Superhero Movie

ROAD13.jpg

Viggo Mortensen is in talks to star in a film called Captain Fantastic. The title of the film can be deceiving, but just know that it's not a superhero movie. It's actually a drama that will be written and directed by Matt Ross.

Mortensen will play "an idealistic father who, after a decade of living off the grid in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, must return with his six young kids to assimilate back into society."

We all know Mortensen is very picky with the projects he chooses, so this must be a good one. Here's what the young director had to say about landing such a talented actor,

”Viggo Mortensen’s dedication to his craft and to the world of the story he’s telling have been an inspiration to me for years. There is a depth to his art that I greatly admire. Any film he’s in is a film I want to see. He’s one of the greats. Getting to collaborate with him on Captain Fantastic is quite literally the best thing that’s happened to me since my wife asked me to marry her.”

Production is scheduled to begin this summer.

Life-Size Batman Bust Features Rumored BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Color Scheme

The Batman we knew and loved from his ’80s and ‘90s "Modern Age" comic appearances jumps off the pages and into the real-world in this amazing life-size bust from Sideshow Collectibles. The bust is available for preorder from Forbidden Planet for £537.99 (roughly $900).

Rumor has it that one of two suits that Ben Affleck will be sporting in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel will be grey/blue. I imagine the colors for the Batsuit in the film will be more muted than that of this bust, which stays very true to the color palette used in the comics.

As always, Sideshow Collectibles did a fantastic job translating this character. We’ll have to wait to see if Snyder/Affleck’s take on the Caped Crusader is as faithful a translation. For details on the possible reveal of that Batsuit, click here.

THE LEGO MOVIE Sequel Has a Release Date

The LEGO Movie is blowing up at the box office and has recently surpassed $200 million worldwide. The sequel to the film has already been announced, and Warner Bros. has set its release for May 26th, 2017.

The studio has already hired Jared Stern (Mr. Popper’s Penguins) and Michelle Morgan to write the script. There's no word on or Chris Lord and Phil Miller will return to direct it. I assume most of the original cast will be back to reprise their roles, though. That cast includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, and Alison Brie.

Hopefully they are able to come up with a story that is just as awesome as the original.

TRON: LEGACY Designer Creates an Awesome Real Superbike

Lotus has unveiled their latest superbike called the C-01, and it was amazingly designed by Daniel Simon, who is the same guy that worked on films such as Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, and Captain America. You can definitely see some resemblance of the designs from those film sin these bikes. They looks insanely cool, and this is what Simon had to say in a statement,

"The design process of the C-01 was a labour of love. We have worked hard to create a motorcycle with very distinctive features such as a clean main body, an extremely low side profile, a bold stance, a unique air intake, logical partline solutions and clean graphics."

The bike is 400-pounds and it packs a 200hp four-stroke engine. There's no price for it yet, but  you can bet your ass it's going to be expensive as hell. This is one of those things I want, that i know I will never have.

DreamWorks Pictures has released another featurette for Need for Speed that focuses on an intense police chase sequence in the film with Aaron Paul.
