We've got a great stop-motion animated film for you to watch today called "I Am Tom Moody." The short takes us on a surreal, yet fun, trip through the "subconscious of a stifled musician as he struggles to sing." This is a stylish, well-written film with a touching story and a wonderful, likable character. The short was directed by Ainslie Henderson, and I hope you enjoy it.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a new IMAX poster for their badass looking film 300: Rise of and Empire

Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield on the sea as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. 300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

300: Rise of an Empire opens in 3D, 2D, and IMAX theaters on March 7, 2014. It was directed by Noam Murro, and stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Hans Matheson, David Wenham, Rodrigo Santoro, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O'Connell, and Andrew Tiernan.

Watch FROZEN Deleted Scene That Would Have Drastically Changed The Movie

0
0

As I said in my review last year for Disney’s Frozen, the movie packed some serious emotional punches right from the start. Here’s a deleted scene from the film that would have completely let the air out of those emotional tires. Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee explain that they intended for the scene to demonstrate Anna's quirky personality.

As you’ll see, the scene was never fully rendered, but the actors recorded the dialogue, and there were storyboards that were animated. Knowing how much scrutiny every second of each Disney animated movie is under, I’m surprised the scene made it that far.

The clip, which was debuted by MTV, will be featured on the Frozen Blu-ray out March 18th.

Matthew McConaughey on Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR

Interstellar-logo96886.jpg

There's still so much that we don't know about Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Thanks to Matthew McConaughey, the film's star, we can get even more excited about what Nolan is doing. When asked about the movie in a recent interview with Variety, the actor said,

"Here’s what I can tell you. It’s the most ambitious thing he’s ever done. And he’s done some ambitious stuff."

That's a pretty bold statement, especially when think about what the director has given us with Inception and the Dark Knight trilogy. McConaughey went on to talk about how he was cast:

"He came up to me and said, ‘Mud. I love that movie.’ [Later] I sat down with him for about 2½ hours at his house. Not one word came up about Interstellar. I walked out not sure what to think. I mean, he’s not a guy who takes general meetings."

He also talked about working with Nolan, saying:

"There’s no fucking around on set. He’s a great problem solver. In that way, he’s very indie. Here’s a guy who could have whatever budget he wants — and we finished shooting early."

The first teaser trailer for the movie hardly gave us anything. I love that it managed to keep everything shrouded in mystery but still keep us excited. I hope all of the trailers released are like that. I would love if the studio was able to keep a huge chunk of the film a secret. The movie is set to be released on November 7th, 2014, and I'm sure we'll get another trailer soon.

Artist Brett Hardin has created this amazingly cool Doctor Who and Back to the Future mashup illustration featuring Doc Brown as The Doctor and Marty as his companion. We've seen a few mashups of these franchises over the years, but I have to say that this is one of my favorites.

Danny Boyle Prepping Billie Jean King Biopic

Last year marked the 40th anniversary of Billie Jean King’s famous “Battle of the Sexes” match against Bobby Riggs. PageSix reports that after having been spotted last year at a premiere for a documentary on King, director Danny Boyle is now prepping a biopic based on the legendary tennis player.

Boyle is developing the pic with screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and producer Christian Colson, the same team that brought us Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours. Boyle and Beufoy have already met with King to work on the script.

With the director hoping to shoot his Trainspotting sequel in 2016, it’d be safe to assume that this biopic will be the next film he makes.

Must Have BATMAN and GHOSTBUSTERS-Themed Slot Car Sets

Who didn’t have a slot car racing set growing up?! My brothers and I would spend hours building, rebuilding, and combining our sets. I don’t know how much “racing” we did, but we definitely did a lot of crashing and breaking. GeekAlerts recently posted two great sets that turn up the nostalgia meter even further. The sets put you “behind the wheel” of two of the most iconic cars in history, the Batmobile and the Ecto-1.

The first is a ‘60s Batman-themed set called Batman Pursuit of the Penguin Electronic Slot Car Racing Playset.

“This set includes 4 four-gear slot cars, a Gotham City backdrop, AC power pack, 2 variable speed controllers, support pillars, flagpoles, Batman and Robin stickers, and 18-feet of track with a loop. It features multiple layout options too.”

Available for $109.99 at Entertainment Earth and for $104.87 at Amazon

The second set is a Ghostbusters-themed set named Ghostbusters Haunted Highway Electronic Slot Car Racing Playset.

“It includes 14-feet of HO scale track, the Ecto-1 and NYPD police cruiser race cars, and 2 sections of ectoplasm track.”

20th Century Fox and director Josh Trank have found their cast for the Fantastic Four reboot they are developing! As previously rumored Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan have been cast as Reid Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Johnny Storm/Human Torch respectively. Joining them are Kate Mara as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman and Jamie Bell is expected to play Ben Grimm/The Thing.

This is really a great cast they managed to bring together for this movie, and my excitement for this superhero reboot is growing. I wasn't expecting an actor like Bell to play The Thing, but I'm on board with the casting choice. Last month the studio hired Simon Kinberg to polish up the script, hopefully he put together a great script for the movie that fans will be happy with.

I'm sure there's a lot of fans that aren't going to be happy with the casting, or the direction that the studio and director plan on taking the franchise. Here's the thing, it can't be any worse than that the previously made films. Who knows, maybe the reboot will surprise the hell out of you and be awesome. Fact of the matter is, this is a extremely talented cast of young actors and I'm sure they'll be great in their roles.

The film is be based on the comic The Ultimate Fantastic Four, and it will focus on a younger version of the superhero characters. The movie is set to be released on June 19th, 2015.

Over the past few weeks Paramount Pictures has released seven character posters for Darren Aronofsky's amazingly epic looking film Noah. I've got to be honest, I'm a little surprised by the lack of excitement for this movie, especially since it's most likely going to blow audiences' minds.

The posters feature Noah (Russell Crowe), Naameh (Jennifer Connolly), Ham (Logan Lerman), Tubal Cain (Ray Winstone), Ila (Emma Watson), Methuselah (Anthony Hopkins), and Shem (Douglas Booth).

Noah is scheduled to hit theaters on March 28th, 2014. Make sure to check out the trailer here

maxresdefault.jpg

We've got two great new clips from Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel to share with you today. I've alway enjoyed Anderson's sense of humor and filmmaking style, and his next movie looks like it's going to be hilarious.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune—all against the backdrop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

The film stars Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, Harvey Keitel, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan, Léa Seydoux, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Tom Wilkinson, and Owen Wilson.

The movie comes out on March 7th.

The latest photo from The Amazing Spider-Man features a new look at Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) locked in battle with Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). The Goblin definitely has the upper hand in this image, but there's no doubt that the hero of our story will end up being the victor. The movie will be released in theaters on May 2nd, and it's the second film of a planned Spider-Man movie franchise.

Rocket Raccoon and Groot GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Collectible Statue

Rocket Raccoon and Groot are going to win the hearts of audiences everywhere when they make their big screen debut in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn himself recently had this to say about them in a trailer breakdown posted yesterday,

"There is no doubt that the cinematic pinnacle of my career is our cameras circling around a maniacal raccoon shooting a machine gun on the back of a living tree. And I say this with as much modesty as I can muster – because certainly it is not me, but the hand of God guiding us all as we make this film – but it just may be the pinnacle of cinema in general. When we shot it we were twirling around an empty space in a giant set. But I think all of us could see the raccoon and the tree in our minds. They were already starting to form. I can’t wait to share them with everyone in August."

The kids are definitely going to go crazy over these characters. In honor of the crazy rodent and tree, Kotobukiya has created this this amazing 1/10 scale statue that will be available on September 2014.

Showtime has released the fifth production blog for their new horror series Penny Dreadful. It's called "The Artisans," and it's the second video of a two-parter. To watch the first part, click here.

The production team takes us deeper into the process of creating the world of Penny Dreadful. See how scripts are transformed into magnificent sets, and the details involved in creating Victorian era London for the series.

The "psycho-sexual horror" series revolves around some of literature's most terrifying characters such as Dorian Gray, Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula. The show is set in Victorian London, and it "weaves together these classic horror origin stories as the characters grapple with their monstrous alienation."

The series stars Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, and Harry Treadaway. The series is set to premiere on May 11th, and you can watch the recently released full trailer here.

Check out this excellently crafted Doctor Who inspired TARDIS backpack created by Etsy user MadBoyWithBox. He is selling it for $166.96, and these are the specs he gives,

This is an entirely hand-made bag shaped like a 1960's British police box. It is made of a royal blue vinyl fabric and lined with a silvery-grey fabric. It's larger than my other bags to allow for more capacity, measuring 7 inches by 11 inches in size.

It has two clip-on backpack straps, with attachments on the side so that it can also be used as a handbag.

That Awkward Moment stars Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan are re-teaming with its director, Tom Gormican, for a new untitled heist movie. We also just learned that they have been cast in the Fantastic Four remake being developed by Josh Trank. I haven't seen That Awkward Moment, but both of these guys are talented young actors and have very successful careers ahead of them.

The news comes from The Wrap, which also says the film "will be in the vein of fun capers like WB’s own Ocean’s 11, and it will be set in Macau." We'll make sure to update you as soon as additional plot details are released. I'm always up for a good heist movie, so hopefully this one will be good!

Warner Bros. has unleashed a new poster for Gareth Edwards' amazing looking Godzilla reboot. It gives us the best look at the giant creature and its scale that we've seen so far. I can't wait to watch this epic creature wreaking havoc on the big screen again.

An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

The movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston. It hits theaters on May 16th, 2014! To watch the trailer for the film again, click here.

It seems like it's been awhile since we've seen Disney characters reimagined as anything, so here's a series created by Sam Tsui of them as characters from Game of Thrones

The character matches that the artist put together are pretty solid. We've got Elsa from Frozen as Daenerys, Rapunzel as Sansa Stark, Mulan as Brienne of Tarth, Lilo as Arya, Merida from Brave as Ygritte, and more.

Watch the New Lowest Score for Completing SUPER MARIO BROS

0

supermariobrossocialheader.jpg

A couple years back Youtube user NotEntirelySure beat Super Mario Bros with the lowest score ever recorded at 600 points. It was a remarkable achievement as he didn't die during the run, and not scoring points in Mario is hard! Yesterday he beat his own record and now has set the record for the lowest score for a completed game of Super Mario Bros at 500! Unfortunately, he didn't do it death free this time and died once trying to complete a jump on 8-1. While he is still pretty proud of his achievement, he explains how difficult that particular jump is to accomplish without getting coins.

How tough is that jump in 8-1? Well, the timing of the liftoff, the duration of holding the jump button, and the timing of the wall jump are all frame perfect. NES games run at 60 frames per second, which means all the necessary inputs need to be timed within 1/60 of a second. In addition, the starting position before running I used not only has to be on the right pixel, but also the x sub-pixel has to fall within a certain range (technical stuff blah blah blah). In short, it's a pretty annoying jump

The important part is he is he didn't restart his game, which would disqualify the run from the record and force him to restart. The video is still great to watch and makes me realize just how bad I am at Super Mario Bros.
