We've got another cool Batman Vs. Superman fan trailer for you to watch featuring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeremy Irons. It's just a little something to tide us over until Warner Bros. unleashes the real thing on the world. The trailer was cut together by YouTuber WhiplashDynamo, and I think you'll enjoy it.

For those of you in the L.A. area, you still have until the end of the week (Feb 22, 2014) to check out artist Bruce Yan’s exhibit titled “Brand New,” which puts a pop culture twist on iconic brand logos. The exhibit is located at Gallery1988 (East). I’ve selected some of my favorite pieces for you to check out. Be sure to check out the rest at Gallery1988’s site, where you can also get location info and purchase prints. (via: Geek-Art)

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Rumors – Practical Model Ships and Jack Reynor Joins Cast

star-wars-episode-vii-rumors-practical-model-ships-and-jack-reynor-joins-cast-social.jpg

A casting rumor and an interesting pre-production rumor about Star Wars: Episode VII have surfaced today. There has been very little official news on Episode VII, mostly just rumors. Let's hope that changes soon.

Simon Bew at Den of Geek reports:

There's been a security clampdown in the prop shop at Pinewood Studios, but we now understand that work is afoot on building a full scale Millennium Falcon there. Furthermore, model makers are also building lightsaber hilts. This would tie into reports that the emphasis is going to be on practical, rather than computer effects wherever possible with future Star Wars films.

Also, we now understand that model makers on the Star Wars: Episode 7 project are being recruited on up to seven year contracts, which cover three sequels and three spin-offs.

I wonder how far director J.J. Abrams it taking the return to practical effects. Could all the ships be handmade models shot on green screen, similar to how they were shot in the original trilogy? I hope so.

Harry Knowles at AICN reports:

I'm hearing that Jack Reynor, a young Irish actor that will be in this new Bay TRANSFORMERS trilogy - but that I've now heard from two different sources has landed a role in EPISODE VII.  No idea of what role… [sic]

I’ve yet to see Reynor in a movie, so I don’t know what kind of role I could imagine him in. He’s young, athletic, and good-looking, so it could be anything.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for a December 18th, 2015 release date.

DR. HORRIBLE Sequel Has Songs and Plot Outline

Act-III-Caps-dr-horribles-sing-a-long-blog-2189229-1440-900.jpg

Joss Wheodn's sequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog has been a long time in the making, and slowly but surely it's making its way into production. Co-writter Jed Whedon recently offered an update to EW ,saying that the songs have been written and the plot has been outlined. This is what he had to say:

“We know we have spoken publicly about a sequel in the near distance and our passion to create it, and I promise we have not been insincere. Horrible is still one of our favorite creations by humans who were also us. We have many songs written and the plot outlined, but needless to say, we’ve been busy. Joss has had a hectic couple of years and is in the middle of the busiest year of his life, as is Zack and as are we. Also the actors have other things they’re acting in, I think. So the future is uncertain, our passion remains. DH2 will exist, in some format or another, at some point in the future. Unfortunately, the when is still unclear.”

Wouldn't it be awesome if Whedon took a two week break in the middle of shooting Avengers: Age of Ultron to make the the Dr. Horrible sequel just like he did for his adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing? I doubt it will happen, but we can always hope. In the meantime, it looks like fans are just going to have to be patient.

Photo of This Week's ARROW Villain (Spoiler)

Arrow fans, breathe easy as we can all look forward to a new episode tomorrow! I'm excited to announce that this week's villain will be a drastically revamped small time Batman villain – The Clock King! See his updated look above and read the synopsis below!

Oliver (Stephen Amell) brings Sara (Caity Lotz) into the Arrow team. Watching Oliver and Diggle (David Ramsey) spar with Sara and talk old scars, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) starts to feel left out. The team is investigating a villain named William Tockman, a.k.a. The Clock King (guest star Robert Knepper), who is a brilliant thief armed with technology that can open any bank vault in Starling City. After The Clock King infiltrates the computer systems in the lair, Felicity feels pressure to prove her worth. When she gets a lead on Tockman’s whereabouts, she heads out without the team, putting her in peril. Meanwhile, Oliver throws Sara a welcome home party, but Laurel (Katie Cassidy) refuses to attend. After Lance (Paul Blackthrone) makes his case for a family dinner, Laurel acquiesces, but when Oliver shows up with Sara, she loses her temper on both of them.

Overall I'm happy they didn't go with the clock mask look, and it would seem that this Clock King will be a little more serious than the one that often appeared in Batman: Brave and the Bold. On another note, it looks like we are going to see more awkward romantic tension from Felicity and Oliver. Gag.

STAR WARS REBELS - New Character Zeb Introduction

Screen Shot 2014-02-18 at 10.13.35 AM.png

Zeb is a new alien character that is being introduced into the new Star Wars Rebels animated series. He's a part of an alien race that has previously been unseen in the Star Wars universe. What's really cool about this character design is that it's actually based on one from Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, and it's one of the original sketches for what Chewbacca might have looked like in the original Star Wars film. I've included a video below featuring the crew of the series talking about Zeb, and the role he will play in the series.

The character will be voiced by Steve Blum, who is most famous for playing characters such as Wolverine, Spike Spiegel, Starscream, and more. This is what the actor had to say about the character he will be playing in an interview with IGN,

"I think I actually screamed when I was booked to play Zeb. It is literally a role of a lifetime. I've been lucky enough to play some major superhero roles in my career, but to be given the chance to play a new character in a Star Wars series? Brain explosion. As if working on a Star Wars series - in any capacity - wasn't enough to cause a grown man to squee, Zeb challenges every acting skill in my arsenal and beyond. His character design is amazing. I get to vocally take on ape-like physical power and abilities, a wicked sense of humor, intelligence and integrity, and so much more that I can't yet reveal. The attention to detail from the entire production team is inspiring. Every bit of minutia is carefully crafted to satisfy the most discerning fan of the franchise. I'm humbled and honored to be a part of the Rebels crew. I promise I will dig as deep as I'm allowed to give you guys the performance I would hope for as a fan. Get ready, guys. You're in for one helluva ride."

Star Wars Rebels is set to premiere this fall as a one hour special on Disney Channel. Shortly after it will be back on Disney XD as a series.

Synopsis:

Set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen – Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

One of my favorite artists, Otis Frampton, has created this amazingly cool series of art called "ABCDEFGEEK." The series features various geek pop culture icons and references that I know you'll enjoy. This is what the artist had to say about it,

"I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had creating these and I'm thrilled that people have responded so positively to my geek-infused alphabet."

Every one of these illustrations is awesome! Not only do they look great, but they also have an added sense of fun and humor.

Ryu Attempts to Transcribe His Battle Cries for STREET FIGHTER

The Pete Holmes Show seems to have run out of X-Men members to fire in their “Ex-Men” series of sketches. They now have a hilarious new video (in a presumably ongoing series of new sketches) revolving around Street Fighter. It stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar as fan-favorite Ryu, who must get his battle cries approved for the global broadcasting of the tournament.

I think Holmes and his team are doing great things on TBS. Their Ex-Men sketches may have run out of steam towards the end — with Holmes’ Professor X becoming progressively meaner and petty — but I love that they’re tackling all of these slightly sacred geek properties. They do a fantastic job of playfully exploring their worlds while also exposing some of their weaker points. I’m looking forward to seeing more of these “Street Fighter Red Tape” videos.

A Geeky Guide To Magical Rings - Infographic

What’s up with the geek community’s addiction to custom rings? These two collections (Geek Wedding Rings, Star Wars Character Rings) don’t even scratch the surface of the amount of custom-made rings we’ve posted on this site. Perhaps this Gollum-like obsession comes from the fact that many of the comic book, sci-fi, and fantasy properties that we love feature (or completely revolve around) magical rings. This infographic by Custom Made (via: FashionablyGeek) gives us a glimpse at many of those rings, and breaks down the origins, appearance, and powers of each one.

Three behind-the-scenes featurettes have been released for Terry Gilliam's upcoming film sci-fi film The Zero Theorem. The videos focus on the shooting location, the director, and the costumes that you will see in the film. Gilliam always creates awesome, visually stimulating films, and this one looks like it will be a good one.

Terry Gilliam's latest creation focuses on Qohen Leth (Christoph Waltz) a reclusive computer genius living in an undetermined future, who works as a programmer for the Orwellian organisation Corporation Mancom. He resides in an ancient derelict church, awaiting a phone call that will give meaning to his life. When the mysterious 'Management' summons him to crack the Zero Theorem, a forumla that could answer everything, and the seductive Bainsley (Melanie Thierry) and the turbulent Bob (Lucas Hedges) barges into his controlled universe, Leth's existence is set to irrevocably change.

The movie will be released in the UK on March 14th.  As of right now, no North American date has been set yet.

Honest Trailer for GRAVITY

gravity-movie-review-george-clooney.jpg

Gravity is the latest movie to get the Honest Trailer treatment by the gang over at Screen Junkies, and it's pretty hilarious. I really enjoyed this movie, and I'm kind of surprised by how many people didn't like it.

Blast off with the hottest astronauts ever - Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock), who really shouldn't be allowed in space and Matt 'George Clooney' Kowalski, a George Clooney-ish pilot with the charm of George Clooney. Get ready for 90 mins of bumping into stuff and fighting against impossible odds to hold on to stuff. Drift through the terrifying silence of outer space where the only sound you can hear is Sandra Bullock explaining the plot and gasping for air.

There's a lot more hate out there for this movie than I thought there was. So for those of you who didn't like the film,  I'm sure you'll really enjoy this newest Honest Trailer.

It's always fun to see a crazy, all-out, geeky wedding proposal. Victor Delgado pulled one off over the course of several months with the help of over 50 people. Those people included some of Hawaii's best cosplay groups such as Costumers Guild of Hawaii, The Pacific Outpost 501st, Ghostbusters: Hawaii Division, and the League of Shadows Hawaii.

Thanks to Neatorama for the heads up.

Ben Affleck's Batsuit Reveal Coming in March?

We've been hearing a lot about Ben Affleck's Batsuit from people who have seen it, and they've been getting the fans excited about the look director Zack Snyder is going with. According to Forbes blogger Mark Hughes, we were supposed to get our first look at the suit this month along with Wonder Woman's costume. Now it looks like the reveal has been delayed until March. Hughes tweeted out the following,

"The delay in start of filming might push it back a tad, but I'm hearing it may drop as originally planned in next 10 to 12 days."

He also went on to say,

"FYI I'm hearing the bat-suit reveal is likely pushed back a bit due to the delay in filming. That's not confirmed, but I trust the info… The upside is, the reveal sounds like it'll be bigger & cooler than previously thought!"

All we know at this point is that the suit is different from anything we've seen before and a complete reinvention. I'm so excited to see what that have come up with for this Batman Vs. Superman film.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 6th, and the day can't get here soon enough! While we patiently wait for the series to return, here's an awesome piece of fan art created by Mark Englert. It's called “Fist of the First Men," and it glows in the dark.

The poster is a 12 x 36 inch, 4 color screenprint with glow in the dark ink. The run is 150 and will cost $60.

This is part of the Song of Ice and Fire art show the George R.R. Martin will be presenting at the Ltd. Art Gallery in Seattle, Washington.

Donal Logue on GOTHAM’s Setting and Conflict

via: ComingSoon

via: ComingSoon

I feel a lot of people are still confused about the path Fox is taking with their Batman-inspired series, Gotham. After the many casting announcements last week, I read a lot of complaints about Ben McKenzie being cast as Jim Gordon, who will serve as the central character in the series which will also explore the rise of Gotham City’s infamous villains. Most of the casting gripes have been over the age of all the actors — do they not get that this takes place long before Bruce Wayne dawns the cape and cowl? I’m hoping these comments from Donal Logue, who was announced to play Harvey Bullock, will help clear up some of that confusion. In an interview with Nerd Repository, Logue talked about he’s gonna approach his character, the conflicts that will drive the series, and the show’s setting and timeline.

We’ve seen many iterations of Detective Bullock throughout the years in the comics and in the animated series. However, Logue will be the first actor to play the character in a live-action film or series. When asked about what his take on the character will be, Logue seemed keen on making it his own.

“It’s dangerous, because my kids watched the animated series and I remember listening to it over the speaker on road trips up to Oregon, I would hear it. It’s that tricky thing where I’m not that guy, I don’t look visually like the guy even in the cartoon. Then there’s that weird thing where I don’t want to take someone’s choice from the cartoon and match it. I want to create a character, no different from Lee Toric in Sons of Anarchy or King Horik [from History's Vikings] or Hank Dolworth in Terriers. They’re all uniquely different scenarios and I don’t want to feel forced to do an impersonation of something else, which is a difficult thing to keep up over the course of a longer series. So we’ll have those talks.”

In Gotham, the Bullock-Gordon dynamic has been reversed in some ways from what we’ve seen in the past. We’ve always seen Gordon as Bullock’s superior. But in this series, the future Commissioner of Gotham will be introduced as an idealistic rookie with Bullock being the more experienced one. Here Logue explains how Bullock’s willingness to play a bit "fast and loose" with the rules will setup the core conflict between the characters.

"There’s kind of an ambiguous line between good and bad. We have to let certain bad guys do certain things, in order for the greater good, for this machine to keep working. And then someone comes in who’s like 'No, I have a much more black and white view, I’m not into this notion of moral relativism. There’s right and there’s wrong.'....And what is law? Is law this platonic form of truth that floats in space that is fixed, or is it something that’s this arbitrary thing where it’s like ‘the law is me and you, right now, in this car. Whatever we determine, that’s the law.’ And that’s the kind of thing that will be a conflict in this show."

When asked about the show’s setting and timeline, Logue teased:

“You know what, that’s hard for me to really get into, I don’t want to say. But there were a couple of examples of modern technology, but maybe an antiquated version of it, that gave me a little bit of sense that it’s certainly not the 50s and the 60s. No one’s making a joke about how ‘there’s no way you can press a telephone button and have a piece of paper show up in another machine.’ There is an acceptance of a certain technological reality. But its not high tech and it’s not futuristic, by any means.”

“What I do love about Gotham, that I can say so far, is that it creates this incredible world that, for me, you can step into things that almost feel like the roaring 20s, and then there’s this other really kind of heavy Blade Runner vibe floating around. It has this anachronistic element to it where it feels like it’s either New York in the 70s, or it kind of exists independently of time and space in a way, and you can dip into all of these different genres. So I’m excited by it. There are elements of it that are completely contemporary and there are pieces of it that are very old-fashioned. I’m excited to see which way they go with the production design and wardrobe and all that kind of stuff.”

Logue obviously had to keep tight lipped about certain things, but what he was allowed to say still paints a clearer picture of what the series will entail. Production on the pilot begins in a couple of weeks. Along with Logue and McKenzie, the confirmed cast includes Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as the Penguin, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Detective Gordon’s boss, and Erin Richards as Barbara Kean (Gordon's fiance). Casting for young Bruce Wayne has yet to be announced. For more info on those characters click here. To read the rest of the interview with Logue head over to Nerd Repository

22 JUMP STREET Trailer with Funny Alternate Ending

0
0

Sony Pictures has released another trailer for 22 Jump Street. It's basically the same trailer they previously released, but with a funny alternate ending that is definitely worth watching. It's sure to give you a good laugh.

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

The Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed movie will be released on June 13th, 2014, and I'm sold on the film. It looks like it's going to be a hilarious sequel.
