Kevin Spacey: HOUSE OF CARDS Is More Real Than You Think

0

Kevin Spacey appeared on ABC's This Week to promote the second season of House Of Cards and said House Of Cards is more real than people think! His thoughts mirror many of ours, I'm sure.

"We can get done shooting on a day, and I'll come home and turn on the news and think: 'You know, our storylines are not that crazy, they're really not.'"

Of course, this being a news show, host George Stephanopolous was quick to cut in and say that there are also many things that happen in the show that never happen in real life, which Spacey had the perfect comeback to.

"Some people feel that 99 percent of the show is accurate, and that the 1 percent that isn't is that you could never get an education bill passed that quickly."

The full interview can be found below. It covers Spacey's experience preparing for the role and a hilarious quote from the current House Majority Whip!

The Ghostbusters LEGO play set will be available in early June for $50. You will be able to build the Ecto-1 and play with minifigs of Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore. Gizmodo reports that you won’t be able to easily put the minifigs into the Ecto-1 – you will have to take the roof off to do so. Functional use aside, the Ecto-1 is a gorgeously rendered LEGO car.

DC Collectibles has released several press photos showing off what they have unveiled at the 2014 New York Toy Fair. As you can see, they have figures based on the classic Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, and more. There are several figures here that are definitely worth picking up, especially if you're a fan of these shows.

Batman and Catwoman from the classic 1990s series are the first in a line of figures that will also include Mr. Freeze and Two-Face. They'll cost you $25 each and will be available for purchase in November.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - Professor X and Colossus Character Photos

Fox has released a couple more character photos from X-Men: Days of of Future Past. These feature Daniel Cudmore as Colossus and Patrick Stewart as Professor X. We have yet to see Colossus fully utilized in these X-Men movies, which is kind of a shame because he's such an awesome character. Hopefully he has a bigger role this time around. The photos came with the following captions.

.@SirPatStew is #ProfessorX, founder of the #XMen and gifted telepath. pic.twitter.com/gopFaH7fZt

The movie comes out on May 23rd, and this won't be the last of the character photos, so stay tuned!

Here's a fun piece of tribute art featuring several classic villains that wreaked havoc in the 1980s. It's been awesome to see these characters evolve over the years, most of them eventually finding their way to the big screen. The illustration was created by Daniel Mead, and it called "It's Good to be Bad in the '80s."

The Guardians of the Galaxy trailer is set to debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow (unless it’s online first). USA Today posted 3 new images that give us a glimpse of the movie. I fully expect minds to be blown by how cool it looks. Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters August 1st (USA).

Fox Is Airing Episodes of ALMOST HUMAN Out of Order?!

foxairedalmosthumansocial.jpg

I've been on pins and needles week to week waiting on news that Almost Human, my new favorite sci-fi show, will be safe for a second season. The show, which has its flaws, has won a top spot in my heart due mainly to its setting and the awesome dynamic between Michael Ealy and Karl Urban. A couple months back I wrote an article talking about how much better the show would be if it had further pursued the long term story set up in the pilot episode from the get go as opposed to disregarding it and having "filler" episodes. Recently the show has revisited the original plot and things have gotten really good, but now I'm reading that this wasn't an issue with the show, BUT WITH FOX REARRANGING EPISODES.

Now, I know it happens occasionally that networks switch episodes around to tease viewers or to accommodate schedule changes, but these changes are insane. Below, check out the order that the episodes aired paired with their true episode numbers to the right in parenthesis.

  • 1 Pilot (1)
  • 2 Skin (5)
  • 3 Are you Receiving?(6)
  • 4 The Bends (7)
  • 5 Blood Brothers (8)
  • 6 Arrhythmia (3)
  • 7 Simon Says (10)
  • 8 You Are Here (2)
  • 9 Unbound (9)
  • 10 Perception (4)
  • 11 Disrupt (11)
  • 12 Beholder (12)
  • 13 Straw Man (13)

This explains why there are inconsistencies with John Kennex's urgency to discover the truth of what happened in the pilot and almost seeming nonchalant on the issue almost immediately after. Showrunner J.J. Wyman came out and said that this rearranging wouldn't be an issue for the first seven episodes, but it clearly has had an impact on the quality of the show as the rearranging is happening at a far too excessive rate. It's stupid, and as fans of the show will notice, the show would've flowed much better if they had been aired in the originally intended order. Now the show is in limbo and there is no certainty that we will get another season of this great show! Thanks to Reddit for bringing this to my attention!

Gal Gadot Shows Off Her Wonder Woman Muscles

Actress Gal Gadot is currently in training for her role as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman film. She recently took to Facebook to show off her little muscles in the photo above and it came with the following caption,

"There's nothing like a good workout in the morning.. Love it! You?"

She also previously mentioned that she has taken up Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jiujutsu, and Brazilian training so that she can build up her body mass for the role. I'm still having a hard time imagining her in the role of Wonder Woman. Anyone impressed?

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS Jax vs. Veigar - CG Animated Short

This week is Michinima's League of Legends week, and every day they will release a new short film featuring characters from the franchise fighting each other. The shorts are both live-action and CG animated. Today the first animated short was released, and it features Jax vs. Veigar. It was created by The Rooster, a team of five CG artists from France.

In an epic battle outside the Fields of Justice in the fabled Bandle City, we get up close and personal with Jax and Veigar. Wielding his trusty brass lamppost, Jax goes head-to-head with Veigar, the dangerous and powerful wizard of the magical black arts.

It looks like these are going to be great quality short films, so they are definitely worth checking out.

Spoiler For CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Leaks Via Soundtrack Listing and Toy

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is my most anticipated movie this year, and sometimes I really wish I didn’t have to read or report some of the things we come across. A major spoiler has been revealed for the film through the tracklisting of the movie's soundtrack. This kind of leak has happened on large movies before and Drew McWeeny (via Screen Crave) brought up a good one:

Fans of "Star Wars" dealt with something similar when the soundtrack listing for "The Phantom Menace" was released early and there was a track called "Qui-Gon's Funeral."

So the title of the track that just gives it all away is…

“Alexander Pierce is the Red Skull”

We knew Pierce, played by Robert Redford, would be more than what we saw on the surface, and that he might have ties to HYDRA. This spoiler seems obvious in hindsight but to have it so blatantly our there just feels like a huge oversight by the Marvel team.

To top things off we’ve also got this gem of a photo from MTV.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy in Production Photo

Bryan Singer has tweeted another photo from the production of X-Men: Days of Future Past. This one features Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy. Creating future tech using retro components must be a lot of fun for the production designer. I wonder why the screens don’t have tracking markers, though. Maybe they are doing the screens “in camera.”

ANT-MAN Will Use THE MATRIX’s Cinematographer and GRAVITY’s Composer

Director Edgar Wright announced on his blog that cinematographer Bill Pope (The Matrix and The World's End) will be joining Ant-Man.

Wright also tweeted that composer Steven Price (The World's End and Attack the Block), who just won a BAFTA for his work on Gravity, will be scoring Ant-Man.

This will be the second film this trio will be making together. Between the cast, the crew, and the long writing process the movie has gone through, Ant-Man could be the banner film of Marvel's third phase of movies. Ant-Man will hit theaters July 31, 2015 (USA).

STAR WARS and DRIVE Mashup: T-Shirt Art and Trailer

A few years ago, a little before the wide release of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, we posted a mashup that combined the audio from the trailer for that film with footage from Star Wars. The mashup trailer, which I’ve embedded below, was cut together extremely well. I’m surprised it took this long for a proper piece of art to emerge that also put Han Solo in place of the Driver. Not only does the art do both films (and the mashup) justice, it is also available on a t-shirt. It’s available at TeeFury for only $11. That deal only lasts for today, so act fast!

While not a direct movie tie-in to the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction, the video game Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark uses character designs from the movie and is being called a companion story. (Video: IGN)

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One this June.

The game will have a four-player co-op mode, which sounds perfect for my next video game/pizza party

ARROW Sneak Peek at the Biggest Fight Scene in TV History

Stephen Amell posted a video of him practicing with the Arrow stunt team for what they claim will be the biggest fight scene in the history of television.

On Youtube Amell added: "These are 2 PARTS of the 8 SECTIONS."

Not a single hint is given about which episode we might see this fight in, but I fully expect it to be the Arrow season finale.

CBM got their hands on some panels from Amazing Spider-Man Cinematic Infinite Comic that explains why Spider-Man has a new costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While I liked what the old suit was trying to do, the new one is just a more iconic Spider-Man.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 lands in theaters May 2 (USA).

If Superheroes Competed in the Winter Olympics

We’ve long been fans of artist Francesco Francavilla. We have featured a wide array of his work, from his Hellboy/Peanuts mashups, to his grindhouse style take on Batman, to the many Mondo posters he has done over the years. We now present you with a timely series he created called “Winter Super Olympics,” which features superheroes competing in The Winter Olympic Games. Of course, these heroes would have an unfair advantage over the competition. But hey, they’re all representing team U.S.A., so that’s cool, right? Wait! Wolverine, are you playing for Canada, you jerk?!

Check out the rest of the series at Francesco’s page. (via: io9)

Terrible tease, am I right? The good news is the full trailer will be premiering tonight on Jimmy Kimmel on ABC at 11:35 EST, so be ready!
