We've got an incredibly well-made and nightmarish stop-motion animated short called "Pluto and the Vessel." It was directed by Harrison Browning, and the story, cinematography, lighting, and sound design are all incredible. It has a very Stanley Kubrickish and The Thing type of feel to it that I think a lot of you are going to like.

Any South Park fan, whether they plan on buying this game or not, should check out the over 13 minutes of gameplay footage Ubisoft has released from South Park: The Stick of Truth. Sometimes watching gameplay footage can be laborious, but the cut scenes and hilarious dialogue in this integrate so well that it feels more like watching a new (uncensored) episode of South Park.

This “epic quest to become… cool” will be out March 4 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

"You're trying to prove that the universe is all for nothing!"

Sony Pictures has released the first TV spot for Terry Gilliam's new film, The Zero Theorem, which features a very crazy vision of the future. The film stars Christoph Waltz, and like all of Gilliam's films, it looks like it's going to be incredibly entertaining. The spot includes some new footage from the film along with some more insight into the story.

Terry Gilliam's latest creation focuses on Qohen Leth (Christoph Waltz) a reclusive computer genius living in a n undetermined future, who works as a programmer for the Orwellian organisation Corporation Mancom. He resides in an ancient derelict church, awaiting a phone call that will give meaning to his life. When the mysterious 'Management' summons him to crack the Zero Theorem, a formula that could answer everything, and the seductive Bainsley (Melanie Thierry) and the turbulent Bob (Lucas Hedges) barges into his controlled universe, Leth's existence is set to irrevocably change.

The film has not been given a release date in the U.S., but hopefully it gets one soon.

Tom Hardy Joins BBC Gangster Drama PEAKY BLINDERS

Tom Hardy has been cast in the second season of a BBC gangster drama series called Peaky Blinders. I'm not familiar with the series, and I don't know why! It definitely sounds like something I would enjoy watching. Hardy will join Cillian Murphy, who also stars in the series.

The series is a gangster family epic set in Birmingham just after World War I. It's based on the historic Peaky Blinders gang. The story centres on "a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps, and their ambitious and highly dangerous boss Tommy Shelby. The gang comes to the attention of Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, a detective in the Royal Irish Constabulary who is sent over from Belfast to Birmingham to clean up the city and purge it of the gangs."

Hardy will play a charismatic leader who presents a unique opportunity to Murphy‘s character, Tommy Shelby. Now I've got to watch this thing!

Since it's Valentine's Day I thought I'd post this brilliant mashup art from TeeFury that combines Iron Man and Tin Man. I guess finding his heart gave the Tin Man superpowers. For those of you who plan on celebrating Valentine's Day with someone tonight, have fun! If you don't, then there's always a movie to see. Or House of Cards to watch.

Alfonso Cuaron Reveals a Darker Ending for GRAVITY

Gravity was one of my favorite films of the year, and I think it has a very good chance of wining Best Picture at the Oscars this year. If you haven't seen the movie yet… why not?! In a recent interview on Reddit, director Alfonso Cuaron revealed an alternate ending that they had for the movie, and it's a bit darker. There's a chance he could be joking about this, but here it is...

"We had an alternative ending in which after landing on Earth, Ryan will get back on her feet and as she’s walking away Matt Kovalski falls from the sky and crashes her to death. And then cut to black. Create scroll in silence."

There's no indication that he was joking, but you never know. It's something that could have been easily added into the film. If it was real I imagine Warner Bros. didn't care much for the idea. The director then went on to talk about the future of film, saying,

"There used to be only one paradigm: the experience of going to the theaters. Later on, that paradigm was dual: people would watch movies in the cinema and also on TV. Later on came home video and now we have all these different formats. There used to be only be visuals, then there came sound, and then color. Now we’re making the transition into the digital formats where everybody can have affordable systems in their homes. What I believe is that, because of the new ways of production and distribution, multiple paradigms are going to be created. They are going to co-exist. Each one of these paradigms is going to constantly evolve and go in many different directions. I think all of this is very exciting because it’s going to challenge our current conceptions of cinema in which the format of experience of film and/or the length are going to very diverse."

Cuaron is such an amazingly talented filmmaker, and I'm so excited to see what film he makes next.

Ron Howard in Talks to Direct THE JUNGLE BOOK

Director Ron Howard is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct and produce a feature film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic 1894 novel The Jungle Book. It looks like we're going to get two Jungle Book movies in the near future, as Disney is also developing a live-action film with Jon Favreau

I'm a huge fan of both of these directors, and it's going to be really cool to see two different visionaries like this tell the same story. Both movies are likely to turn out awesome. I'm excited to see both of them.

The story is set in the jungles of India, and centers on Mowgli, an orphaned boy raised by wolves who befriends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther as he spars with the ferocious tiger Shere Khan.

The art above has nothing to do with the movie, I just thought it was a cool piece of Jungle Book art to share with the post.

ROBOCOP Movie Review

la-et-mn-robocop-remake-movie-reviews-critics-20140211.jpg

I don’t know if you remember, but I was not the biggest advocate for the reboot of RoboCop. I did, however, promise that I would give it a shot, and I have to say that I am happy I did. I walked in determined to hate the movie and walked out pleasantly surprised.

Director José Padilha  took on the daunting task of rebooting a cult classic, and I feel that he hit the mark. A lot of people seated around me were RoboCop superfans, and you could tell that they were expecting a word for word remake with updated graphics. If that is what you are looking for, that is not what you are going to get. For you superfans out there, Padilha did not make a movie that totally ignores the original. There is plenty that I would like to say about this, but I will let you watch it and find what I am talking about.

I will make this review as spoiler free as I can.

There has been a question of how the action of a PG-13 movie will stand up against the original movie that was an R. I felt that there was no lack of action in this movie. It was a pretty even split between action and story. Plenty of guns and plenty of excitement. There were no toxic waste saturated bad guys blowing up, but you will not be disappointed. The sequences were well choreographed and definitely held my interest.

The ensemble is a great mix of familiar faces that are cast perfectly. Alex Murphy is played by The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman. He is a fantastic actor and I am truly grateful that he played this role honestly. He could have easily tried to play it tongue in cheek, thankfully he didn’t. His version of Murphy will not let you down. Kinnaman brought depth to the character instead of the stiff, disconnected version that was brought to us in the original.

Samuel L. Jackson plays Pat Novak, a TV show host who is not afraid to speak his mind about the need for robots to take over the dangerous duties that the police face on a daily basis. This character falls right into SLJ’s wheelhouse. Michael Keaton is Raymond Sellars, Omnicorp’s head honcho with a dark side. Gary Oldman is Dr. Dennett Nortan, the brains behind the project who finds the struggle between morals and money a hard line to toe.

Other cast members include Jackie Earl Haley, Jay Baruchel, and Abbie Cornish, each of them don’t have much screen time, but they make the most of every moment. A little treat for those of you who are fans of The Wire, Omar Little himself, Michael K. Williams, throws down an awesome performance as Murphy’s partner Jack Lewis.

I am in no way saying that this is the best movie I have ever seen. However, I can say that the movie is well paced. It is no way convoluted with an overly intricate storyline. What you see is what you get, and that is what makes it work. I would definitely recommend it.

Until next time…

We’ve featured countless pieces from artist Des Taylor over the years. All of his work features his unmistakable retro aesthetic and either has a tinge of romance or is absolutely surging with it. This Valentine’s Day piece, titled “A Valentine’s Kiss From Peter Parker,” obviously falls into the latter category. Last year around this same time, we posted a collection of Taylor's work which featured a whole lot more art depicting Peter and Mary Jane's relationship. Be sure to check out that collection here.

Yesterday a photo of Michael Fassbender's Magneto was released. Today Fox has released another character photo from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This time it features Ian McKellen's version of the same character. The photo was released on Twitter and came with the following caption,

Sir @IanMcKellen is the powerful #Magneto in #XMen: Days of Future Past.

He sure looks determined to carry out whatever his plans are. I've also included some high resolution versions of previously released photos from the film.

Cameron Crowe's Next Film Has a Release Date

Cameron Crowe's next film has been set to be released on December 25th, 2014. The movie still doesn't have a title, but the comedy drama stars Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Jay Baruchel, Michael Chernus, and Ivana Milicevic.

Cooper plays a defense contractor who falls for an Air Force pilot, played by Stone. Cooper's character is assigned to oversee the launch of a weapons satellite from Hawaii, and the two of them team up to put a stop to the launch.

I've always enjoyed Crowe's style of filmmaking and storytelling, and I hope this movie will make his fans happy.

Dylan Minnette (Labor Day) and Odeya Rush (The Giver) have been cast alongside Jack Black in the upcoming big screen adaptation of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps. They will take on two of the lead roles in the film. Gulliver's Travels director Rob Letterman is developing the film.

odeya_rush_odeya_headshot_eOpHGUD.sized.jpg

According to Deadline the film is loosely based on the series and "Minnette will play Zach Cooper, who moves with his family move from NY to to the idyllic town of Greendale, MD, where his secretive new neighbor turns out to be author R.L. Stine (Black). When the many, many demons in Stine’s mind are set free by Slappy, a demonic ventriloquist’s dummy, it’s up to Zach and Stine’s niece Hannah (Rush) to put the evil genies back in the bottle."

This was a really fun series to read, and I hope the movie turns out to be a good representation of them. The initial plot of the film sounds pretty generic, but let's wait and see how it plays out.

Cool BACK TO THE FUTURE Trilogy Posters by Andy Fairhurst

I just had to share these really cool Back to the Future posters that were created by Andy Fairhurst. This is the artist who brought us that awesome "When I Grow Up I Wanna Be..." superhero series, which you can check out here and here. I love the clever and unique trilogy poster art that he did for the films below. This is what the artist had to say about these,

Over the years though I had never really done any artwork related to BTTF (apart from a recent ‘Geek Kid’ I did – seen above ) and considering I have done Batman and Star Wars time and time again I had never found the right idea to tackle a BTTF piece…until I joined The Poster Posse. I have done a few posters since joining and have been really inspired by all the members on our forum. And it wasn’t until I saw an awesome BTTF poster which went viral online recently by Mondo artist Laurent Durieux, that I thought ‘Yeah! I can do a poster!’ That’s how I got around it…I did a poster. I wouldn’t have done that before Poster Posse. I find I can think slightly more outside the box and not worry too much about 100% accuracy with posters and I am finding I am enjoying it more and more and discovering the artwork of other Poster Posse members is an eye opener. So I did 2 posters, both depicting Marty in 1955 and 1985 with only the shoes and skateboards showing, which I felt was enough to get the feel of the movie across. I added a bonus 3rd poster depicting the hover board from BTTF2 as I figured that I’d get requests for that as well. Anyway I have lots to work on with my normal stuff that I do but I find myself now thinking of what I can do with “Alien” or “The Lost Boys” and other films in poster form thanks to joining this group.

Thanks to Blurppy for the heads up!

Fabulous Female Cosplay of FUTURAMA’s Zoidberg

Are you tired of seeing female cosplayers in outfits that leave little to the imagination? Well, Alyssa (a.k.a Mistress-Zelda) shows off only her creativity and craftsmanship with this spectacular take on Zoidberg from Futurama. As you can see, it’s not some sexed up version of the character, rather, it’s a clever and faithful homage to the staff doctor for Planet Express.

Here’s what Alyssa had to say about the cosplay:

"Futurama is my favorite TV show ever (Got a Bender and Robot Devil tattoo), but I could never figure out what character to cosplay from the show. Most of the outfit designs are kind of boring or don't translate very well to real life, I think. Zoidberg is one of my favorite characters so I decided to do this for Halloween. I specifically wanted to make it look campy, cartoony and kind of homemade, something people could conceivably make on their own. The mask is a ski mask with finger tentacles sewn on, and ping pong balls cut in half, drilled and sewn on for eyes. The claws are oven mitts and the rest of the outfit was put together with Goodwill finds. Lots of fun to make and wear, although eyesight is limited in it XD It was photographed at a group shoot event which is why each photo has a different photographer."

Michael Keaton Says He's in With Tim Burton for BEETLEJUICE 2

$

beetlejuice968868786876.png

Slowly but surely, Beetlejuice 2 is making its way to the big screen. Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of the book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the screenplay for Dark Shadows, is working on the script. It was previously rumored that Michael Keaton and Tim Burton would team up again for the film, and now Keaton has confirmed it in an interview with MTV, saying,

"I've e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another.

"Now it looks like he is involved, and without giving too much away we've talked to each other, and e-mailed each other, and if he's in, it's going to be hard not to be in."

This is incredible news for fans of the first film. I've been hoping this sequel would happen for the longest time. I hope they they end up giving us a great sequel. My biggest worry is Grahame-Smith writing the film, because the script for Dark Shadows was awful.

No plot details have been revealed yet. There are so many different directions they could take the story. Are there any things that you'd like to see happen in this sequel?
