Marvel released a new character poster for Captain America: The Winter Solider featuring Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce. I still think it's pretty awesome that the studio managed to get Redford to be in the movie, and I'm curious to learn more about the character he plays. The movie is set to be released on April 4th.

This is our first look at Al Pacino in director David Gordon Green's upcoming thriller Manglehorn. I imagine most of you aren't really familiar with this movie, but it sounds like it could be a solid film. It has a talented team working on it, and here's the synopsis:

AJ Manglehorn is an aging, ordinary guy in a small town. He nurses his sick cat, squeezes out a conversation with the local bank teller every Friday, and eats at the same place every day.

But there is more to Manglehorn than meets the eye: he’s an ex-con who, 40 years ago, gave up the woman of his dreams for a big ‘job’. He now obsesses daily over the choices he made. After a dramatic effort to start over, Manglehorn faces a terrifying moment and is unmasked as a guy with a very, very dark past.

There's no release date for the movie yet, but it also stars Holly Hunter, Harmony Korine, and Chris Messina

I've two more gritty Super Mario Bros. shorts for you to watch today from the short film series called The Four Players. One is called The Soldier and features Toad, who takes desperate action for the sake of his Kingdom. The other is called The Star, in which Princess Peach contemplates happier times while suffering at the hands of her captors. The short was written and directed by Evan Daugherty, the writer of Snow White and The Huntsman and the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. As for The Four Players series, it's described as a "bold new take on some familiar gaming icons." To watch the previously released shorts, click here.

STAR TREK Parody of FROZEN's "Let It Go" - "Make It So"

I've seen a lot of videos paying tribute to "Let It Go," the main song from Disney's Frozen. It really is a nice song, but you know what makes it even better? Giving it a Star Trek: The Next Generation makeover and calling it "Make It So," which as you know is Captain Picard's most famous phrase. The song and video were created by Debs & Errol, and maybe you'll enjoy what they did with it.

LIGHTNING RETURNS: Lightning Goes Tomb Raiding, and a DLC Wishlist

Square Enix recently announced that Lightning Returns will add another costume to Lightning’s already bustling wardrobe as a launch day DLC. This will be in the form of Lara Croft’s survivor gear from the recent Tomb Raider reboot, complete with copious amounts of dirt and her now signature pick-axe (peep the trailer for a glimpse of the costume in action below). While I know some despise this kind of thing, I don’t count myself among them. Cross promotion can be terrible, but in this case I think it's fun and doesn’t negatively affect the game whatsoever. That said, it got me thinking about what other costumes would be fun for Lightning’s final 13 day run. Turns out I’ve got some ideas on that, so here is my list.

1. Thief: The template is already there, as you can see in the image above, which was cosplayed by the amazing Lyz Brickley, with photography by Darshelle Stevens. She would use a crossbow shaped blade, and the shield would be made entirely of shadows. Slick if pulled off.

Hitman-Absolution.jpeg

2. Hitman: There are already some costumes that have a suit-like look to them, but this would be the complete package. Black suit, red tie, bar code on neck, and shaved head. For the weapon, a kind of silver ballers and swords type thing (think Squall’s gunsword for inspiration) would be apt, but since Agent 47 uses so many diverse things to kill people, the possibilities are endless.

FFX_HD_Auron_Wakka_Lulu.jpg

3. Wakka: WAIT! Don’t stop reading, just give me a sec. A bohemian type outfit, complete with sword that’s in essence just a big 2x4 with a ginormous spiked ball on the end. You could relive all of your Walking Tall fantasies and give props to Wakka at the same time. Seriously though, it could be really fun. He could use a wooden shield with a volleyball net cover. Cheesy sure, but for this character it would totally work.

8545-ringdom_hearts__sora___brave_form.jpg

4. Sora: You knew this was coming, and who wouldn’t want to take a Final Fantasy-themed keyblade into battle. A couple of prerequisites here though. 1. Lightning’s hair has to be spiky. 2. She has to have the same too legit to quit style pants that Sora rocks in the Kingdom Hearts games. The shield would be the same shield Goofy used in the KH games, because Goofy used it, and because Stone Cold said so. Yeah, you can't argue with Stone Cold.

video games parasite eve aya brea 1280x1024 wallpaper_www.wallfox_net_9.jpg

5. Aya Brea: From the vault comes the star of Parasite Eve. It would be nice to see the classic version of Aya reinterpreted in Lightning Returns. Her blade would be infused with a sniper rifle, and the long black dress that is iconic to the character would be the base of the costume. I would like to see Square Enix take some liberties with their redesign though, and with the right touches this could be extremely cool and a nice piece of fan service.

So, any other costumes you would like to see? Give us your suggestions in the comments.

Artist Dan Mora created a couple of really great pieces of Wonder Woman fan art that I thought I'd pass along. They are really fun character designs, and each one has a very different look. We previously featured the piece above and several other striking pieces of Dan's digital art which you can check out here.

Jay Baruchel will star in the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's short story "The Ten O'Clock People." The film is set to be written and directed by Tom Holland, who has also brought us horror films such as Fright Night and Child's Play.

The story tells of a smoker (Baruchel) who returns to his old habit with a cessation drug still in his system, triggering a side effect that reveals a frightening reality in which many people in authority are monsters.

The story first appeared in King's 1993 horror collection Nightmares and Dreamscapes. This was one of my favorite stories from the collection. It will make for a really fun horror movie, and Baruchel will be great in the lead role.

Over a year ago it was rumored that Ms. Marvel would play a part in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was so early in the development process of the film that at the time I didn't think there was any truth to the rumor. It looks like I might have been wrong. Latino-Review is now reporting that Ms. Marvel will in fact be in the sequel.

"Miss Marvel is the last piece of major casting left in the movie. Yeah, Miss Marvel. Now, I’m not going to spoil HOW she is in it, but she is in there kids."

A few months ago Katee Sackhoff revealed that she had been talking to Marvel about a film project. A lot of people assumed that she could be up for the role of Ms. Marvel, which you've got to admit would be perfect casting. There's no confirmation of this casting, so when it's officially announced it could be a complete surprise. I'm excited to see how Joss Whedon plans on incorporating this character into the story.

Women of DC's Animated Universe Voice Impressions

As much as I love Marvel, I have to admit that DC has an awesome collection of female characters. Over the years, it's been great seeing these characters brought to life in animated projects. Here's a video from YouTuber Brizzy Voices who does some spot on voice impressions of these characters.

I've got nothing against Marvel, but I LOVE DC comics and animation. So here's my little tribute to the top women of the DC Universe animation (tv, movies, and videogames). Special thanks to Andrea Romano, who casted and/or voice directed the majority of the performances that I imitate in this video! She's incredible and if you've never heard of her, GOOGLE HER STAT! Your jaw will drop when you see all the amazing things she's done.

SNOWPIERCER Will Get an Uncut Limited Release

We've been reporting on director Bong Joon-Ho's post apocalyptic thriller Snowpiercer for a long time, and in all that time it never has been given a release date. There's been a bit of drama surrounding the film. Basically, the Weinstein's bought U.S. rights to the film back in 2012 based on a script and and some test footage. The deal that they made included a wide release, but the director turned in a film that was over two and half hours long, and the director wasn't willing to edit it down. So the Weinstein's didn't want to release it.

The two parties recently came to an agreement though, and we will actually get to see this movie in theaters! Basically the director keeps the length and cut of his movie, but instead of a wide release, it will be a limited release with a roll out.

The film stars Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, John Hurt, and Octavia Spencer. The movie has also been getting amazing reviews internationally.

Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.

Red-Band Trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger's SABOTAGE

You've got to watch this insanely badass red-band trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger's upcoming film Sabotage! If this trailer doesn't sell you on wanting to see this movie, I don't know what will. This movie looks like it's going to be great.

Sabotage comes from End of Watch director David Ayer, and the story follows "an elite DEA task force dealing with the world's deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one."

The film also stars Sam Worthington, Josh Holloway, Malin Akerman, Terrence Howard, Mireille Enos, Joe Mangianello, Olivia Williams, Max Martini, and Dawn Olivieri.

The movie comes out on April 11th, 2014! Thanks to IGN for the trailer!

Philip Seymour Hoffman's Role in THE HUNGER GAMES Will Be Completed Digitally

It seems like the producers of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 have decided to honor the memory of Philip Seymour Hoffman by recreating the actor digitally to complete one major scene in the film.

There's an inside source who previously told THR the digital recreation was likely, saying, “You can do digital things, you can have conversations where you’re not focusing on him but the people he’s talking to.”

If they feel they can make this work, it would be great. I have no problems with the filmmakers recreating the actor digitally to finish a project that he and the rest of the film crew worked so hard on.

The movie is set to be released on November 20th, 2015, and it will be Hoffman's final performance.

Jason Statham to Reprise His Role in THE MECHANIC 2

Action star Jason Statham is set to reprise his role as Arthur Bishop in The Mechanic 2. The character is an "elite assassin with a talent for cleanly killing targets, often making it look like an accidental death and with a strict code of conduct."

THR is also reporting that German director Dennis Gansel (The Wave) is in talks to direct it. I'm not really that familiar with his work. The first film came from Expendables 2 director Simon West and co-starred Ben Foster. Foster is unlikely to reprise his role, because (SPOILER!) he died in the first one.

I liked the first movie. I didn't think it was a film we'd see a sequel to, but as long as they are making it I might as well watch it.

EARTH TO ECHO Sci-Fi Film Release Pushed to Summer

About a month ago we were surprised with an incredibly fun-looking new sci-fi film called Earth to Echo. The found footage film was supposed to be released on April 24h, 2014, but according to ERC, Relativity has pushed that date to July. The studio must have a lot of confidence in the film to give it a summer release date.

The movie seems to have a kind of '80s Amblin magical feel to it, like The Goonies, E.T., Explorers, and even J.J. Abrams' Super 8. Here's the synopsis for the movie,

After a construction project begins digging in their neighborhood, best friends Tuck, Munch and Alex inexplicably begin to receive strange, encoded messages on their cell phones. Convinced something bigger is going on, they go to their parents and the authorities. When everyone around them refuses to take the messages seriously, the three embark on a secret adventure to crack the code and follow it to its source. But taking matters into their own hands gets the trio in way over their heads when they discover a mysterious being from another world who desperately needs their help. The epic, suspenseful and exciting journey that follows will change all of their lives forever.

The movie was directed by Dave Green and stars Teo Halm, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Reese Hartwig, and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt. Want to watch the trailer again!? Here you go...

Wacky Full Length ROBOCOP Remake Spoof

The new RoboCop reboot hits theaters later this month, but before you watch it you can check out another RoboCop remake made by fans of the original movie. It's a crowdsourced film that entertainingly spoofs each scene in the original Paul Verhoeven-directed film.

Our RoboCop Remake is a crowd-sourced film project based on the 1987 Paul Verhoeven classic. We are a group of filmmakers and RoboCop fans who have split the original film into 60 pieces and have remade the movie ourselves. Not necessarily a shot-for-shot remake, but a scene-for-scene retelling.

More than 50 individual groups of filmmakers contributed scenes, and they used animation, puppets, live-action, and whatever other kinds of special effects they could pull together.

Before you watch it I should warn you… it's NSFW! Thanks to io9 for the heads up!

Rob Cohen to Direct the Heist Thriller RISK

The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen has signed on to direct an action heist thriller called Risk. According to the report, the film blends psychological suspense and action, and the story follows "a brilliant thief who is released early from prison to execute a nearly impossible art heist." Cohen had this to say in a statement:

“I’ve always wanted to make a sophisticated caper/thriller in the style of ‘Topkapi,’ ‘To Catch A Thief’ and ‘The Hot Rock,’ with smart characters and sexy European backgrounds.  When I read the script of ‘Risk’, I knew this was it.”

The movie is scheduled to go into production this summer, and it sounds like it could be a really cool movie.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION Is Much Happier with the Theme from FULL HOUSE

I'd like to tell you adding the theme from the '90s sitcom Full House doesn't make The Shawshank Redemption look like a hilarious film. I'd like to say the tone and cinematography outweigh the funky bass and doo wah's of the background singers. I'd like to tell you that, but... Good video, ReadyDemolitionMusic.
