Disney Developing Live-Action CHIP 'N DALE RESCUE RANGERS Movie

Disney will be developing a live-action feature film based on the classic 1990's animated series Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers. They picked up a pitch from commercial director Robert Rugan, who will write and possibly direct the updated take on the characters. The plan is to develop it as a live-action and CGI hybrid film.

I grew up watching this cartoon along with several others when animated series were freakin' awesome. The show ran for three fun seasons. As cool as it is to hear that a movie is getting made, let's face it, most live-action CGI hybrid movies suck. But, they are successful at the box office, so it's no surprise that Disney wants to do it.

All we know about the story of the film at this point is that it will tell an origin story of the duo. I'm not expecting much from the film, but maybe it will turn out better than I think.

New Poster and 2 Featurettes for Aaron Paul's NEED FOR SPEED

Need_For_Speed_New_Oficial_Poster_JPosters.jpg

I'm kind of surprised that there's not much excitement for Aaron Paul's Need for Speed movie. It looks like a beautifully shot car racing film that is going to be loaded with practical effects and stunt work, which is stuff that hardcore movie geeks like to see! Maybe the studio just isn't marketing it well. Today we bring you another crappy poster and two cool featurettes that you might enjoy. The first featurette focuses on camera cars, and the second focuses on actor Dominic Cooper at driving school. I think the movie will have a mediocre story and script, but the action is sure to be insane.

First Look at 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY Coming Super Bowl Sunday

On top of all the movie trailers we will see during the Super Bowl, there are going to be a good amount of TV series promos as well.

Fox is going to give us our first look at Keifer Sutherland's 24: Live Another Day limited series, which is set to air on May 5th. Then we will see a promo for Cosmos, a science miniseries that explores the universe. Other spots will include American Idol, The Following, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and New Girl

Here's what Variety had to say,

It’s likely the promos – slated to run before and during the gridiron classic – will be of a higher caliber than the norm. Sure, the spots will likely tell viewers when the shows are slated to run. Chances are, however, they’ll have a little something extra. In the case of “24: Live Another Day,” for example, Fox went all out, setting up a special promo shoot in London, the setting for the miniseries, a few days before actual production began on the series itself – meaning the Super Bowl promos for the show will contain the first “24” action filmed since the original series wrapped in 2010.

When it comes to 24, the network will "run a series of ten-second vignettes sprinkled across the evening that will lead to what the network bills as a 'show-stopping' 45-second promo."

As for what we can expect to see, they say that it will feature the reunion of Sutherland’s Jack Bauer and Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Chloe O’Brian. "The promos will feature a hardened look for the O’Brian character, best remembered as a computer nerd."

I'm such a huge fan of 24, and I'm sure Fox is going to go all out to get us excited for Jack's highly anticipated return.

TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY - Cost of Damage Caused

Here's a fun video that breaks down the cost of all of the damage that was caused in James Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgement Day. It was created by the team at Cinema Sins, but don't worry, it's not as annoying as their "Everything Wrong" videos.

We turn the damage counter on one of the most famous and beloved action films of all time, T2. Yes, when future robots come back in time to duke it out in the early 90's, sh*t gets damaged. A lot. Stick around at the end for a brief explanation on how we priced the Terminators

Trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal's Psychological Thriller ENEMY

Before making Prisoners together, director Denis Villeneuve and Jake Gyllenhaal teamed up to develop a big screen adaptation of Nobel Prize-winning author José Saramago's 2002 novel The Double. The movie is called Enemy, and it looks like a pretty intense psychological thriller. Here's the description from the book:

Tertuliano Máximo Afonso is a divorced, depressed history teacher. To lift his spirits, a colleague suggests he rent a certain video. Tertuliano watches the film, unimpressed. But during the night, when he is awakened by noises in his apartment, he goes into the living room to find that the VCR is replaying the video. He watches in astonishment as a man who looks exactly like him-or, more specifically, exactly like he did five years before, mustachioed and fuller in the face-appears on the screen. Against his better judgment, Tertuliano decides to pursue his double.

The movie will be released in theaters on March 14th, 2014.

Check out this amazing new mashup art that combines Walter White from Breaking Bad with Hellboy. As you can see, the result is glorious. The illustration was done by Brain Taylor, who says,

"Just a little thing I did recently for fun."

I love it when people do things for fun, because look at the awesomeness that comes from it! More people should do more things for fun!

Garbage Pail Kids Style VOLTRON Art and More

Artist Brent Engstrom has created a ton of hilarious Garbage Pail Kids paintings. One of which features his vision of Voltron, which is great. I've always been a big fan of Garbage Pail Kids. I used to collect the stickers when I was growing up. They always managed to entertain me and my friends, I'm happy the tradition can continue with other artists coming up with more disgustingly cool characters.

Universal Pictures has released the first clip from Liam Neeson's new action thriller Non-Stop. The movie was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and also stars Julianne Moore. If you enjoy watching Liam Neeson kicking ass then this is a movie I'm sure you'll want to see!

During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London, U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight will be killed every 20 minutes.

The movie comes out on February 21st, 2014.

Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in New York

I really don't like delivering this kind of news, but I'm sorry to say that 46-year-old Oscar winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in New York.

The news was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, and law enforcement officials said Hoffman was found dead at his apartment in the West Village. He was found around 11:15 a.m. in his bathroom by a screenwriter, who called 911. According to the New York Post, he had a hypodermic needle still in his arm, which makes this whole thing even more tragic.

Hoffman, who won the best actor Oscar for Capote in 2005, most recently appeared at the Sundance Film Festival to promote his new films God’s Pocket and A Most Wanted Man. The actor has been in a ton of films in his career, such as Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, Almost Famous, Twister, The Master, Moneyball, MI:3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and so many more. I have to say though, one of my favorite, in my mind most entertaining, performances that he gave was as Sandy Lyle in Along Came Polly. No matter how many times I've seen that movie, he always makes me laugh. He was currently preparing to direct his second film, Ezekiel Moss.

This is a truly sad day, and our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He will be missed.

THE BIG LEBOWSKI Animated Kung Fu Short

Yep you read that right! This short film is a reimagining of the classic Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski. It's just a single scene that is set in ancient asia and it involves kung fu! The film is a student project made by 2nd year Character Animators and CG Artists at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark. I'm a big fan of the actual film, and the short turned out very entertaining. I'm sure you'll recognize the characters.

Paramount Pictures and director Michael Bay have released the Super Bowl spot for Transformers: Age of Extinction, and this is the first ever footage we've seen from the film. It looks like it could be a pretty radical Transformers movie, and I think the new robot designs are really slick.

The movie is set to be released on June 27th, and the action adventure stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller, Han Geng, and Titus Welliver.

Sony Pictures has released the second part of their Super Bowl spot for The Amazing Spider-Man 2! I've also included four-minute "Enemies Unite" sizzle reel for the film. Just in case you missed Part 1 of the spot, I've included that in the post as well. There's no big reveal in the second part, but it's still packed with more really cool footage for you to see! The movie comes out on May 2nd!

Review for Paul Rudd's Comedy THEY CAME TOGETHER - Sundance '14

0
0

I'm a big fan of Paul Rudd, so one of the movies I was excited to see at Sundance this year was the romantic comedy spoof The Came Together. I'm don't really care for spoofs. I think they are a waste of time and money. For the most part they suck and aren't funny. I was really hoping for a smart comedy with They Came Together, and thankfully, it was actually funny! I laughed a lot throughout the film, but some pretty stupid moments that the movie didn't need were scattered throughout. Sometimes less is more, especially with a comedy like this.

The movie follows the typical romantic comedy template of a couple who meet and hate each other at first, but through the course of the story realize that they were meant to be together. I thought it was great that Rudd played the male lead in the film because he's played this role so many times before over the years. Now he was just making fun of it. The movie also starred Amy Poehler who was also great, the two actors worked perfectly together in the lead roles. The film is also full of fun cameos that I won't ruin for you.

The film was directed by David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer), and I think the movie is definitely worth watching once. It's not a film I would watch again, but I'm glad I got a chance to see it. There's a chance the movie will be edited down by the time it hits theaters. If that's the case, it could actually be a better film.

The movie is being distributed by Lionsgate, so it's going to get a decent sized release, and you'll get a chance to see it. I think you should give it a try. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't, but you'll definitely laugh while watching it.

Synopsis:

They Came Together relates the epic love story of Joel, a corporate executive for Candy Systems and Research, a mega candy store chain, and Molly, the owner of a small sweet shop called Upper Sweet Side. When Joel is tasked with shutting down Molly’s mom-and-pop operation, the unlikely lovers find themselves hurtled into a whirlwind romance. From quaint bookstores and coffee shops to neurotic family members and psychotic ex-lovers, Joel and Molly must face some harrowing obstacles on their path to true love.
