Will Marvel Launch Phase 4 with a NEW AVENGERS Movie?

0
0

It's no secret that Marvel plans way in advance for the movies that they make. They are looking at least three or more years into the future for what they want to give their fans. They are constantly in discussion, so there's always a chance that little bits of info on those discussions are going to leak out. We've seen it happen before, so why wouldn't it happen again?

The studio is currently heavily focused on completing Phase 2 with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. They will then move into Phase 3, starting with Ant-Man, which is the only officially announced film at this point, but Doctor Strange will most likely be a part of it as well. I'm excited to see what else they end up announcing, but according to a report from Unleash the Fanboy, Phase 4 of Marvel's plan might kick off with a New Avengers movie.

The site claims to have a source at Disney who had this to say,

“It’s so incredibly early in the process, but unless Robert [Downey Jr.] makes an insane deal with these guys, they’re going with New Avengers.”

Downey Jr. is currently signed up to do two more Avengers films, but after that he may not return to reprise his role as Tony Stark. It will be interesting to see what they do with the character when Downey Jr. calls it quits. I've heard they would replace him to keep Stark in the films, but we'll see.

The site goes on to ask their source if the New Avengers story arc will follow the comic book series Avengers: Disassembled which left the superhero team in a Diaspora until they re-assembled as the New Avengers. I know that the comic arc includes Spider-Man and Wolverine, but don't expect them to show up in any Marvel-produced film.

So when [they] asked if the movie would feature that comic arc or if they will just include a new team of heroes, the source said,

"Well, you’ve heard the recent casting announcements. They’ve got a ton of great guys. Paul Rudd. Michael Douglas. Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Whoever they choose for Doctor Strange and the other new guys in Phase 3. They’ve got a lot of great guys to lead the new phase of the team. But that’s all I say.  It’s really early."

As of right now this is all just a rumor so treat it as such. The site does have a track record of getting solid intel, though. It will be interesting to see what Marvel does end up doing with Phase 4, but it makes sense that at some point they would bring us a New Avengers film.

Details on Future Sentinel from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Thanks to one of 25 magazine covers from Empire, we got our first look at what the future Sentinels will look like in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. We now have a few more details on the future Sentinel and what the makers were going for when it was designed. The following information comes from production designer John Myhre:

They're biomechanical weapons. We had to come up with what would be the ultimate version that could actually, in principle, stop the X-Men. We started with this idea that they were almost made up of magnetic plates slapped over one another, imagining that the plates could contract or grow, so the Sentinel can be skinny to get through a small space or the plates can open up to become a bigger shape. So they have become virtually unstoppable.

I can't wait to see these Sentinels in action! We'll be able to see it on May 23rd, or maybe, just maybe, they'll throw it in an upcoming trailer!

This is an intense-looking teaser trailer for a post-apocalyptic thriller called The Rover. The movie was written and directed by David Michôd, and it stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.

The story takes place 10 years after the collapse of society, and it follows a man who will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that still matters to him.

The film will be released sometime in the summer of 2014, and it looks like a movie that will be worth watching.

Russian Photographer Alexander Turchanin took these beautifully awesome photos of several different female models cosplaying some of our favorite characters from The Hobbit. I absolutely love how these turned out.

Benedict Cumberbatch is signed on to star in a new thriller called Blood Mountain. The movie is being directed by Sergei Bodrov (Mongol, Seventh Son), and it sounds like it could be a very intense movie.

The story follows a "private military contractor whose special forces team is ambushed and killed during a covert raid, forcing him to personally escort one of the world’s most wanted terrorists over hostile terrain in order to bring him to justice. With a bounty at stake and insurgents and rival mercenaries hunting them, the two find themselves facing not only their enemies, but each other in their fight for survival."

This seems like a very different role for Cumberbatch to take on, but it's one that I think he will be awesome in.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's upcoming R-rated animated comedy, Sausage Party, has put together a hell of a fun voice cast! That cast includes Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, and Nick Kroll

The story follows a sausage on its quest to “discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale.”

The Rogen and Goldberg scripted film will be directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan. The film itself is being produced at Sony Pictures and Annapurna Pictures.

This is the same team that brought us This is the End, and it's going to be great to see what kind of animated comedic adventure they give us. It sounds like such a strange concept, which is probably what will make it so awesome.

Earlier today we posted some photos that gave us our first real look at what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will look like in the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film. Now some promo display art featuring the Ninja Turtles with the same character designs has been revealed. I actually like the designs, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they look when they are in action and kicking some ass. We've heard that the martial arts used in the film will be the same style of fighting that was in The Raid and The Raid 2. I doubt it will be as awesomely violent, but hopefully it still turns out to be cool. The movie hits theaters on August 8th, 2014!

Marvel Hires Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost to Write THOR 3

We've recently reported that Marvel is looking to move forward on Captain America 3, and they want The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo to come back to develop it. Now Variety is reporting that Marvel is starting to put together a team of people to bring Thor 3 to life. The studio has hired Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost to write the next installment of the franchise.

Kyle has been a producer on the Thor movies, but has also worked on the story development for some of the Marvel animated films such as Planet Hulk, Hulk Vs., Doctor Strange, and The Invincible Iron Man. He worked on several of the Marvel animated TV series as well. Yost isn't new to the world of Marvel either. He was one of the writers on Thor: The Dark World, and also worked with Kyle on Marvel animated series such as Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Wolverine and the X-Men, Hulk Vs., and he also worked on The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

There's obviously no information on what the third Thor film will be about, but I'm sure Thor, Loki and the rest of the gang will be back for another adventure. I seriously hope that this time around they finally bring in Enchantress. That's a character I'm really excited about eventually seeing on the big screen.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had this to say in a statement,

“I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”

Super Bowl Spot for Darren Aronofsky's NOAH

Paramount Pictures isn't making you wait until the big game to watch their Super Bowl spot for Darren Aronofsky's incredible looking film Noah. You can watch it right here, right now. The biblical epic is set to be released on March 28th, 2014. This is one of my most anticipated films of the year. The movie is going to be visually stunning, and I have no doubt that Aronofsky is going to deliver an amazing film that not only looks good, but also has a solid story and script. The guy just knows how to make great movies.

Chris Pine and David Gordon Green Team Up for THE LINE

Star Trek star Chris Pine is set to star in a thriller called The Line, which will be directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express).

The story follows "a patrol agent who, after recently losing his wife and child, goes on the run with a boy whose family was recently killed by the cartel. He soon finds out both sides of the law have their sites on him and the boy."

Sounds like it could be a pretty intense film. It's got a talented team attached to bring it to life, so it should turn out to be a decent movie.

Teaser Trailer for the Horror Thriller UNNERVED

Here's the teaser trailer for a creepy looking indie horror thriller called Unnerved. The movie is being directed by Gary King, and it stars Mark DiConzo, Katie Morrison, and Elena Sanz. They are currently seeking funds via Kickstarter to finish post-production on the film. It looks like it could be a decent horror movie, and here's the synopsis:

After the mysterious death of their young son, a couple desperately flees to a remote lake house to escape the unrelenting haunting that is following them only to discover that this mysterious entity is still very much a part of their lives.

Billy Bob Thornton to Join ENTOURAGE Movie

Billy Bob Thornton is in talks to join Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon, and Jeremy Piven in Doug Ellin's long-awaited Entourage film.

The plot of the film revolves around a big-budget Dracula movie that will star Vinnie Chase, and of course, I'm sure it will also involve girls, parties, and overly exaggerated Hollywood life.

According to THR, Thornton will play "a billionaire cowboy-turned-film financier plunking money into the movie who sends his twenty-something son to keep an eye on things in Los Angeles."

The film is currently shooting in Los Angeles, and as a fan of the series, I'm looking forward to seeing what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE Movie Has Director

0
0

We're the Millers director Rawson Marshall Thurber is set to develop the big screen adaptation of the classic Choose Your Own Adventure book series. The script will come from Night at the Museum screenwriters Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon

The books were known for their stacked storytelling, which allowed readers to choose the path of the characters every few pages. The choices the reader made lead the characters to different fates, good and bad. 180 books were written for the series.

There's no information on what the story for the film will be about, but there is a ton of material to choose from! The fun thing about the books was the whole aspect of letting the reader make decisions on the direction they wanted to take the story, but a film takes that gimmick out of the equation, so I'm not sure what will make this movie really different from anything else. The stories that the books told may have been mediocre, but they were still fun.

If they develop a solid first movie, the studio could have a successful franchise to work with.

M. Night Shyamalan and Bruce Willis to Reteam for LABOR OF LOVE

0
0

Director M. Night Shyamalan and Bruce Willis have worked on The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable together. That was a time when Shyamalan was making great movies, and it seemed like he had a good career ahead of him. The two talents are looking to team up again for a movie called Labor of Love

What makes this project interesting is the fact that it's one of the first scripts that Shyamalan sold. Fox picked it up back in 1993, but it didn't go anyway because Shyamalan wanted to direct it, and they didn't want him to. It was years before he directed The Sixth Sense. Several years ago Denzel Washington was looking to do it, but it didn't pan out.

The story doesn't have the supernatural elements that we have come to expect from the writer/director. This is a smaller scale film in which Willis would play a "Philadelphia book store owner who loses the love of  his life in a tragic accident. Never big on words, he becomes haunted by the notion that he never properly told his wife how much he loved her. Since she once asked if he would walk across the country for her, he decides to show her posthumously just how much he did love her. That trek starts from Philadelphia to Pacifica, CA, which was her favorite place."

This actually might be a good film for Shyamalan to take on. It's a smaller story that goes back to the basics of filmmaking. It's also a film that he wrote when he was actually coming up with good ideas. It's cool that Willis is going to jump on board the project with him. I imagine there will be some kind of twist in the story, but we'll have to wait and see. This actually could turn out to be a decent film for Shyamalan, who has made nothing but crap over the last few years.

Delta Releases 1980s Style In-Flight Safety Video with ALF

In an attempt to get people to listen to safety instructions, Delta Airlines has created a safety video that is set in the 1980s and features ALF, a Rubik's Cube, and even Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who makes an appearance as a pilot. It's a silly video, but some of you might find some entertainment value in it.

Four Clips from the Post-Apocalyptic Thriller SNOWPIERCER

I'm sorry to say that there is still no U.S. release date set for director Bong Joon Ho's post-apocalyptic thriller Snowpiercer. We do have four new clips from the great-looking film for you to watch, though!

Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.

The movie has an awesome cast of actors that includes Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song, and Ko Asung. The movie will probably show up on Blu-ray and DVD in the U.S. before it gets a theatrical release. It is set to be shown at the Berlin Film Festival next week though.

In celebration of ten years of World of Warcraft and over 100 million players, Blizzard has released an infographic packed with all kinds of information about the game. This is a game I used to play back in the day before it turned into an online phenomenon. Once it made that transition I just couldn't invest the time or money to keep playing. Do you play WOW? If so, how long have you been playing?

Marvel has released three awesome character posters for Captain America: The Winter Soldier featuring Cap, the beautiful Black Widow, and Nick Fury. I've also included five photos from the film, some of which are set photos.

The movie is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and apparently they did such a great job making an awesome sequel that Marvel is looking to sign them on for Captain America 3. From the footage I've seen from this movie so far, this is going to be the most badass Cap we've ever seen.

The movie comes out on April 4th, 2014.
