David Slade gives DAREDEVIL update

Until now there has been very little news on the Daredevil movie that David Slade is directing, until a recent tweet from Slade stating that Brad Caleb Kane (Fringe) has completed the first draft of the script. Obviously there is more work to be done, but he also stated that there will be some news to look forward to in the New Year.

Here is his tweet:

Mark Waid recently revamped the comic book series and has returned Daredevil to his swashbuckling roots. It is not known if Slade's adaptation will keep the same dark tone as established by other writers. I enjoyed Slade's adaptation of 30 Days of Night. Are you looking forward to seeing this movie in theaters?

Steve Buscemi hosted last nights episode of Saturday Night Live. Our friends from ScreenInvasion.com have shared one of the shows funnier episodes that pits the Boardwalk Empire star as Commissioner Gordon in a Batman-themed short.

The short is called "Holy Creep, Batman!" and plays off of the idea that Batman can show up literally anywhere. First you see the Dark Knight on rooftops and in dark corners, but then he shows up in Gordon's bedding and making the Commisioner's wife dress up like The Riddler! This is a must-watch episode so check it out below and share your thoughts!

One of my biggest concerns with riding a bike at night is not being seen by a car. That problem is solved with Revolights, which turn any bicycle into a TRON Light Cycle. Check out the company's official website and watch a cool video below:

It would be cool if they came in a white bluish color too. What do you think of these sweet lights?

Day 4 of the Geek Days of Christmas has arrived with some more geeky goodness to bring the holiday cheer! Todays post focuses on some awesome Star Wars nativity scenes. I remember growing up using my families plastic nativity figures to fight with my G.I. Joe characters. Don't worry baby Jesus was fine, but one of the Three Wise Men did not make it.

Star Wars really does lend itself to the some cool nativity scenes in my mind. Especially with the cool forest and Ewok characters from Return of the Jedi. Check out this collection of Star Wars nativity scenes and let us know which is your favorite.

Another video has been released showcasing the films that have been released in 2011. The end of the year is upon us, and that means we will see several more of these videos over the next few weeks. It's fun to see all of the different ways that the different editors cut all of these films together. This video was created by YouTube user  and here's a note from the editor,

Many good films came out this year. Obviously, I wasn't able to include all of them in this clip, that would be impossible to edit, but many of them are in here, 226 of them to be exact. This video took about 2 months of editing on a daily basis to complete and is by far the biggest project I've ever edited, so... hope you like it!

The video turned out pretty well! Check it out below and tell us what you think! What were some of your favorite films of 2011?

Here's a couple of great classic images of Nancy Reagan and Mr. T dressed up as Santa. One of the images features Reagan sitting on Mr. T's lap plastering a little kiss on his forehead.

The photo was taken in December of 1983, when Mr. T was invited to Washington to help the First Lady unveil the White House Christmas decorations. At the time Nancy Reagan was campaigning the say no to drugs for kids.

The MEN IN BLACK 3 Trailer is Here!

Columbia Pictures has released their first trailer for Men In Black 3! I honestly can't believe this movie actually came together and happened. From the very beginning this production seemed to be riddled problems, but that doesn't mean it wont end up being a silly yet entertaining movie. The film puts Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back back in their slick black suits with awesome alien technology. The film also feature Josh Brolin as a young Agent K, and as you'll see in the trailer he does one hell of a great impression of Jones' character! The film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Alice EveEmma ThompsonRip TornJohnny Knoxville, and Jemaine Clement are also featured in the movie.

The movie looks like it will follow the same successfull formula as the first two films, but with the time travel twist. I enjoyed watching the first two movies, and it will be fun to see these characters back in action.

Here's the synopsis:

In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.

Men in Black 3 opens on May 25 2012. Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think!

George Takei asks STAR WARS and STAR TREK Fans to Unite Against TWILIGHT

You may have seen or heard about the ongoing feud between William Shatner and Carrie Fisher over which franchise is better... Star Wars or Star Trek. If you haven't you can watch it all go down here. To help end the feud and bring peace to the two sides, Star Trek's George Takei made a video asking the two huge fanbases to unite against a more sinister threat... Twilight. This shouldn't be a hard feat, as I imagine most of them don't like the Twilight franchise anyway.

Here's what Takei had to say...

Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie, or epic battle. In its place we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school. Now, I'm not above mixing in a little sex appeal to spice up the fantasy, but sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight ... In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: 'Does my boyfriend like me?'"

Here's a great chart that was created giving us a breakdown of The Rules of Magic according to around 50 fantasy series. The chart was created by the fine folks over at io9, and I thought many of you might find it interesting, and want to check it out.

Every fantasy saga has its own rules for magic, and its own explanations for how the magical arts work. Where does magic come from? Who can use magic, and how? Do regular muggles know magic exists? We dug through 50 or so of our favorite fantasy sagas, and compiled a complete list of the rules of magic in each of them.

Go through it and let us know what you think! Are there any inaccuracy's that you see in the chart?

Am awesome new trailer has been released for the the great looking stop-motion animated zombie film ParaNorman. The movie was created by the stop motion animation studio Laika, which is the same studio that developed Coraline. ParaNorman was written and directed by Coraline storyboard supervisor Chris Butler and Sam Fell (The Tale of DespereauxFlushed Away).

I think this movie looks awesomely entertaining, and there's no doubt my kids are going to love it. For some reason they are obsessed with Zombies and this is a zombie film they can actually watch. My kids are the kind of kids that cry because I tell them they aren't allowed to watch The Walking Dead. It's crazy! Anyway, I'm excited to see this movie, it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun, and I love the style.

The voice cast includes, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me InThe Road) in the lead, with Casey AffleckTempestt BledsoeJeff GarlinJohn GoodmanBernard Hill (Titanic), Anna KendrickLeslie MannChristopher Mintz-Plasse, and Elaine Stritch (30 Rock).

Here's the synopsis:

When a small town comes under siege by zombies, who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he'll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think! The movie wont be released until August 21th 2012.

THE HUNGER GAMES - Fire Dress Sketches set us ablaze

$

Gary Ross’ adaptation of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins looks amazing. I enjoyed reading the books and am looking forward to seeing the story unfold on the big screen. One of the biggest moments of the first book was when Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) wears a "fire dress" prior to the Games.

Below are some sketches from various top designers of what that dress could have looked like. Here is what Celebrity Dirty Laundry.com had to say about the sketches:
"That’s a special dress, a costume that the production’s costume designers must get right to please the fans. That scene in which the dress is worn is such a pivotal moment to not only the plot, but in Katniss’ development as a character. It’s going to be a hard task to pull off, especially because the image of the dress itself is open to so many interpretations . . . but fans will know the right dress when they see it. InStyle got together 11 designers to whip-up a few sketches that depict what they think the dress should look like.”
Check them out below and let us know which is your favorite:
