JOHN CARTER - Fan-Made Trailer and Mondo Tees Poster Art

0
0

Above you'll find a epic looking John Carter poster art commissioned by Mondo Tees that will be given out to all the hardcore fans who will be attending select IMAX midnight screenings of the film on March 9th. I might go just to pick up one of these posters. There are limited supplies so who knows how long they will last. Make sure to check out IMAX’s website to see if your nearest IMAX theater is among the select few that will be participating in the poster giveaway.

Below you'll find a great fan-made trailer for the film that is the best trailer I've seen for the movie so far. Leave it to the fans to do a better job than the studio. The preview gives viewers a better understanding of what the movie is about, especially for those that haven't read the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think! I'm just curious to know, what is your favorite movie, comic, or book with a sci-fi Mars setting?

TERMINATOR 3000 Still in Development

0
0

Two years ago, the Terminator franchise was in deep trouble. After the failure of Terminator Salvation, the rights to the series itself were tied up in legal limbo as lethal as the Judgment Day warzones. While studios like Sony Pictures and Lionsgate were bidding to own the post-apocalyptic action-adventure films, Arkansas film distribution center Hannover House decided to bypass the entire auction mess and go ahead and announce their own Terminator film: the 3D CGI-animated reboot Terminator 3000

The CEO of Hannover House, Eric Parkinson, had decades earlier served as the CEO of Hemdale Home Video, the video distribution center that handled the home video release of the original 1984 James Cameron film The Terminator. Parkinson believed that his new company still retained some rights to the original film and took the opportunity to annonce their own new film. The film (which was aiming for a PG-13 rating) would be centered around the characters introduced in the original film (i.e. Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and The Terminator). Eventually, the company in charge of selling the Terminator rights, hedge fund Pacificor, sent this message to Hannover House:

Please be advised that developing, producing, marketing or in any other way utilising characters and situations which are part of the Terminator franchise infringes upon and interferes with Pacificor's ownership rights.

Apparently, that has not stopped Hannover House's plans for Terminator 3000. Fansite TheArnoldFans.com managed to contact Parkinson and ask about the project. Parkinson surprisingly confirmed the film was still in development with Annapurna Films (the current owner of the Terminator rights):

It’s in the time being in the hands of Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Productions, whether or not they want to proceed. We reached out to them, communicated with her council and expressed our outline with the basic story structure with the proposed principal creative team and how it can be financed and how Annapurna Productions can make a lot of money with upfront licensing. But there are issues at play that I am not privy to. I think that most people are aware of how long this ticking bomb that this Terminator licensing exists before it goes back to James Cameron.

Of course, one of the biggest detractions from Terminator Salvation was the lack of Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger (his digitally-scanned face had appeared on a T-800 prototype for a brief moment in Salvation). Although Schwarzenegger is too old to believably play a powerful cyborg, an animated film would be an interesting way of having Schwarzenegger reprise his most famous role. Parkinson claims that he has communicated with Schwarzenegger:

I had the opportunity to talk about it with Arnold at the MidCOM Market, when they announced his proposed cartoon series (The Governator). So I was there and he remembered me from Hemdale and I told him, I am still trying to develop an animated thing (T3K), but that’s about when the bad news came out. But my feeling is, he is and will always be one of the biggest stars in the world. I think he’d do the voice of the T-800 in this proposed Terminator 3000. We’re excited about it, and we think it makes perfect sense and with all due respect to Arnold, I think this would be another great and quick way for him to get another movie out with just a short time in a recording studio."

How Arnold will appear in the film was also discussed:

[We] can create a character of him in his absolute peak. What we have in mind is something very similar to what Cameron utilized in Avatar in that we would use motion capture to create the base files of the bulk performers, including The Terminator. But yeah, it would be more of a 3D style motion capture proposed to live actors.

The most important aspect of Terminator 3000 is the story, and while Parkinson is still mute on story details, he says that all is being done to craft a well-made Terminator film:

We have a good outline. We have a great story, and we potentially don’t want to turn it into a script now, because there’s going to be some creative input and we don’t want to paint ourselves into a corner and say, no, we envision it a different way. But we’ve got a pretty good framework for what we think will work. Who knows if this concept fits their overall plan for the franchise? Personally, I think it’s kicks-ass and would be a boost to the Terminator brand by introducing a new generation of viewers.

While personally I'm not too crazy about another PG-13 Terminator film, a motion-capture Terminator does appeal to me. If they can somehow get their hands on similar mo-cap technology (which would be crazy expensive), it sounds like it would work. Would you be glad to see Arnold back?

James Bond SKYFALL - First Behind the Scenes Video Blog

Director Sam Mendes has released his first behind the scenes video blog for James Bond Skyfall. In the video, Mendes discusses his love for the franchise, how excited he is to be bringing Bond back to the big screen, and working with Daniel Craig. I'm excited that Mendes is bringing Bond back! He's a very talented director that has made several great films over the years, and I think this could turn out to be one of his best.

The film also stars Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, and Ola Rapace. In the 23rd 007 film "Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."

Skyfall arrives in theaters on November 9th, 2012. Watch the video blog below, and let us know what your favorite Mendes movie is. Do you think he is the right man for the job?

Mark Millar's JUPITER'S CHILDREN Could Be Biggest Sci-Fi Franchise Since STAR WARS

0
0

Mark Millar is one of the most sought after comic book writers in Hollywood. He is the writer of Kick-Ass, Wanted, Nemesis, Wanted, War Heroes, and more. It seems like every other month we are reporting on another project of his that is getting a big screen adaptation by a major studio. There's one project that he's working on that has not been whored out yet to Hollywood, and that is his new upcoming comic Jupiter's Children

Jupiter's Children is going to be different from anything Millar has ever done before. It's going to be epic, and he predicts that if will end up being the biggest sci-fi franchise since Star Wars, which means it has to beat out Avatar as well. Calling out Star Wars like this is a very bold statement, but one I hope he's right about, because it would be awesome to get another epic sci-fi story to entertain us!

In a previous interview with CBR, Millar explained the story and universe without spoiling anything saying,

It opens in France in the 1920s, which immediately for a superhero story is a very different location. We start on a bunch of explorers kind of like that opening from 'King Kong,' which I love, and they're doing an exploration of the ancient world – these rich Americans who have put together an expedition to find something you'll hear about in the story. From those first few pages, and a doomed expedition, we cut to the present day, and they came home from that trip altered and with a plan to save the American idea. In historical context, the Russian revolution is relatively recent and Europe is in a state of turmoil and they're just on the cusp of the Wall Street Crash so they've gone on this trip to try and save America and then we cut to their utterly useless, meandering children in the present day essentially squandering their inheritance. It's not crass and celebrity focused, although it touches on that stuff. It's more Shakespearean, with the last of the old heroes, a King Lear figure, watching these teenagers and twenty-something with no altruism whatsoever. There's a massive regret in his eyes as he looks around at the world he's leaving behind, very much the world we see today with the Euro-zone collapse and industrial decline and six billion people worried about the future, he feels the children and grand-children of he and his friends just aren't up to the job. But this is just the starting point. This is like saying that Star Wars is about Darth Vader boarding a ship and kidnapping the Princess. This is the first eight or ten pages and we just run with it from here.

I think there's something sad and quite unique where these ten or twenty, slightly damaged super-people feel they can never live up to their parents. And something even more tragic about the parents recognizing that their children, in many ways, are their failures. In the same way, Paris Hilton is the granddaughter of a man with incredible business sense and the will to build that Hilton chain of hotels. She doesn't have the skills or drive he had. She's just a vacuous party girl who was born with a silver spoon and mistakes money and fame for success or respect. In the same way, these superheroes know something enormous is missing from their lives and are daunted by the prospect of replacing their parents. That's the thread running in the background, and on top of all this is this massive adventure story with aliens and robots and amazing ships and vehicles and a whole world I've been building with respect to what's happening here in the real world.

You've got the financial, and America losing power and influence to China, of course, but at the same time, there are massive internal problems in China with social engineering being just one of them. Over the last generation, there have been too many males born, so you're looking towards a massive social collapse over there. Huge unrest within the next decade. The Arab world is obviously in chaos and we have the European problems and the governments of the world asking these new, young heroes to help. But they can't. Half of them can barely read a book. Adamantium claws doesn't mean you know the specific pros and cons of quantative easing. But like I said, this is the backdrop where the adventure takes places. It's a huge, grand operatic piece that runs for ten issues and does super-heroics on a scale I've never even tried in something like 'The Ultimates.'

Sounds pretty freakin' awesome, but we still know very little about what happens, and why it's going to be the next big sci-fi franchise. Millar has turned down a ton of offers from Hollywood studios on this comic, so for now it's off the table. But I'm sure he will let it go someday. If it's going to be as big or bigger than Star Wars, he's going to have to eventually let it fly. He knows this which is why he says it isn't for sale... yet.

I'm excited for the comic, and to see just what Millar has in store for us with this one. I hope it does become the Star Wars sized franchise he thinks it will be! I guess it all depends on if it's good or not. We'll find out in September when it's released.

Frank Darabont Casts HEROES' Milo Ventimiglia in L.A. NOIR

Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia has been officially cast in Frank Darabont's new TNT drama series L.A. Noir, which is based on the book by John Buntin. As we have previously reported, The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal (Shane) is in talks to join the series as well.

The story is set in the 1940's and '50s, and the show will tell "the true story of a decades-long conflict between the LAPD, under the determined leadership of Police Chief William Parker, and ruthless criminal elements led by mobster Mickey Cohen, a one-time boxer who rose to the top of LA’s criminal world." I love history, and since I live in Los Angeles, I've enjoyed doing my fair share of research on the city. This is going to make for a great series.

According to Deadline, Ventimiglia "will play Ned Stax, a former marine who served with Joe Teague (Bernthal) during WWII, now a budding lawyer groomed to be a master 'fixer' for the mob."

Darabont will both write and direct the series pilot. He'll also executive produce with Michael De Luca and Elliot Webb.

About WOLFPACK OF RESEDA

Ben March hates his life. The torture of listening to motivational speeches from the slimy head salesman at work, the depressing apartment and foul smells of his Animal Control officer roommate at home, and – most of all – the crappy car that shuttles him between the two. There seems to be no escape from his suburban despair until one night he is bitten by a mysterious creature in the woods. Could he now be a werewolf?

Suddenly, he has the instincts of an alpha dog. For the first time, he pushes aside the mundane to do what he really wants with his life. Forming his own “wolfpack,” Ben makes his lair in Reseda, and has the run of the Valley. But soon, the threat of the murderous beast within him begins to rear its ugly head.

Mixing elements of workplace comedy with the conventions of horror, WOLFPACK OF RESEDA is a unique take on office life, the supernatural, and “winning.”

Weird Science: Your Mind Is a Swimming Salmon and the World Is a Hologram

0
0

Michael Talbot and his document The Universe As A Hologram is a "mind fish" to say the least. Taken from the works of physicist David Bohm and neurophysicist Karl Pribram, Talbot talks and provides evidence on how the world operates as a "holographic model." I don't claim to fully understand everything that's being said (as I'm sure most who study string theory would admit), but here's the easiest way to summarize just the intro concept of our "hologram world".

  • It was discovered in the 1980's that subatomic particles can instantaneously communicate regardless of distance between them. While some proclaimed this was a debunking of Einstein's theorizing that nothing is faster than the speed of light, others had different theories.
  • Bohm theorized that the world is actually gigantic splendidly done hologram. This isn't to say nothing is real (in a sense), as he was talking about the mechanics of how holograms work. If you were to cut an elephant hologram into two halves, it would turn in to two smaller perfect images of the original elephant and etc. Just remember that every piece of a hologram is an exact albeit smaller image of the original
  • Bohm rationalizes the particles behavior is simply an illusion to our eyes and what seems like two separate particles are in reality the same fundamental something.
  • The easier way to imagine this... Say you don't know what an aquarium or a television is. You are shown two screens: one pointing directly at the aquarium with two fish inside, the other showing a side view of the same aquarium same two fish. Regardless of your ignorance of both items, you will eventually notice a correlation between the movements of the fish on both parts of the screen. Bohm believes that if subatomic particles operate like a hologram, then they contain the information for all that was and all that will be.
  • This means that our minds and everything in existence are all one. Our mind is the swimming salmon just as much as our buildings are apples.

There's a lot of other crazy physics to be found in the reading as well, such as our brains can hold six times the amount of information held in an Encyclopedia Britannica, objects exist only in your mind, and so on.

You can read the full document here, or you can watch these videos below and further the brainmelting.

So what are your thoughts? If you'd like to see more weird science posts, let us know.

Edgar Wright To Direct Johnny Depp in Disney's THE NIGHT STALKER

0
0

After the dismal box office reaction to 2010's beloved geek film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar Wright has been somewhat in the shadows, only producing another beloved geek film, Attack the Block and co-writing the Steven Spielberg 3D animated adventure The Adventures of Tintin. He turned down an opportunity to direct Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, has been repeatedly tied to a film adaptation of Marvel character "Ant-Man" (co-writing with Attack the Block director Joe Cornish), and recently, he has begun work on the last entry on his Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (following Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz). Now he has just signed on to his biggest project yet with a major studio and a major star - Walt Disney Pictures' The Night Stalker, starring Johnny Depp.

The Night Stalker began as a TV movie  that aired on ABC, based on a novel which was adapted by famed screenwriter Richard Matheson. It starred Darren McGavin as investigative reporter Carl Kolchak who goes to Las Vegas to pursue a serial killer. Only when he discovers the bodies of the killer's victims, he realizes it is the work of a vampire. As a child, Depp was infatuated with the TV movie and its subsequent (and short-lived) series. The series was produced by Dan Curtis, who also produced another of Depp's favorite series, Dark Shadows (which also received a film adaptation starring Depp).

Although some would think that a Disney film with subject matter including vampires would instantly become a Touchstone Pictures film (a la Fright Night), The Night Stalker is supposed to be tailored to fit a Disney-friendly PG-13 rating. This film marks Depp's seventh collaboration with Walt Disney Pictures (the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Alice in Wonderland, and The Lone Ranger) and Wright's second project with the company (he has been developing "Ant-Man" for Marvel/Disney). Will Wright be able to light the way for The Night Stalker or be left in the dark?

AMERICAN REUNION - New Full Trailer Released

Universal Pictures has released another great trailer for American Reunion, and I'm excited about seeing the whole American Pie gang back together again. The movie looks like its going to have some great comedic and heartfelt moments. I had a good laugh while watching this new trailer.

The fourth film in the comdic coming of age franchise was directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and the cast includes Jason BiggsAlyson HanniganChris KleinNatasha LyonneThomas Ian NicholasTara ReidSeann William ScottMena SuvariEddie Kaye ThomasJennifer Coolidgeand Eugene Levy.

Here's the synopsis for the film:

It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler's mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about -- and get inspired by -- the hormonal teens they once were.

The movie comes out on April 6th, 2012. Have you ever attended a high school reunion? Not me, I've bailed on everyone.

Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis in Talks For CBS Cowboy Drama

0

Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis may star in a new CBS TV show. THR reports that the actors are in talks to star in the 1960's-set drama based on the true story of Ralph Lamb, "a rodeo cowboy-turned-longtime sheriff in Las Vegas. Quaid would star, with Chiklis playing opposite him as a Chicago mobster who moves to Vegas."

This would be Quaid's first time starring in a TV show. Chiklis is no stranger to TV, having starred in The Shield and ABC’s No Ordinary Family. The pilot is being written and exec produced by Greg Walker and Nicholas Pileggi along with James Mangold. Quaid's film roles have not been too great lately, so this might be the perfect fit for the actor. What is your favorite Dennis Quaid movie? I loved him in Innerspace and The Day After Tomorrow.

Jai Courtney Cast as John McClane's Son in A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

0
0

20th Century Fox has officially locked down Jai Courtney to play John McClane's (Bruce Willis) son in their fifth Die Hard film, A Good Day To Die Hard. Courtney is mostly known for his role as Varro in the Starz series Spartacus. He is also starring along side Tom Cruise in the upcoming action film One Shot. Other actors that Courtney beat out for the role included Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), James Badge Dale (The Pacific), and D.J. Cotrona (Detroit 1-8-7 and G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation). I'm a little surprised that Courtney got the role, but he should be good in it.

John Moore is set to direct a film that is set to be released on February 14th, 2013. The story puts McClane on an international adventure to Moscow, where his estranged son Jack is introduced. According to Deadline Jack may be even more "of a hardass than his father. Despite their differences, they must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy."

I would love to see another awesome Die Hard film, I didn't really care for the fourth one, but the three before it were pretty great action films. John McClane didn't seem like John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard.

Do you think Courtney is a good choice to get crazy alongside Willis in this movie?

Here's a description:

Since the first Die Hard in 1988, John McClane has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.

Stephen King Reads First Chapter of His SHINING Sequel, DR. SLEEP

0
0

Last year it was announced that Stephen King was writing Dr. Sleep, a sequel to his classic horror novel The Shining. The story has an unexpected twist that involves a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe. King explained in a previous interview,

This is an idea that I’ve had for some time. I wrote a novel in the ’70s called The shining… I always wondered what happened to that kid, Danny Torrance, when he grew up… and this story started to form. The book isn’t finished yet, it’s called Dr. Sleep. This kinda goes back to... what’s the worst thing you can think of? I knew that there were bad people in this story that were like vampires, only that what they sucked out was not blood, but psychic energy from special people like Danny Torrance. And I came to realize that these people were called The Tribe and that they move around a lot. Their leader is a woman called Rose [unintelligible] they all have these kinda pirate names, because pirates is sort of what they are.

King recently made an appearance at the Savannah Book Festival where he ended up reading the first chapter of his new book. The book starts off by giving us details of what happened to Wendy and Danny Torrance after their horrific ordeal at the Overlook Hotel. It's really cool to listen to King read this first chapter, and it got me very excited about reading the rest of the book!

We previously reported that the story would focus on what happened to Danny Torrance after the crazy winter vacation he had up at the Overlook Hotel. "The last time readers saw Danny he was recovering from his ordeal at the Overlook Hotel at a resort in Maine with fellow survivors Wendy Torrance and chef Dick Halloran (who dies in the Kubrick film version). King remarked that though he ended his 1977 novel on a positive note, the Overlook was bound to have left young Danny with a lifetime’s worth of emotional scars. What Danny made of those traumatic experiences, and with the psychic powers that saved him from his father at the Overlook, is a question that King believes might make a damn fine sequel. In King’s still tentative plan for the novel, Danny is now 40 years old and living in upstate New York, where he works as the equivalent of an orderly at a hospice for the terminally ill. Danny’s real job is to visit with patients who are just about to pass on to the other side, and to help them make that journey with the aid of his mysterious powers. Danny also has a sideline in betting on the horses, a trick he learned from his buddy Dick Hallorann."

Check it out below and let us know what you think about how the book starts out!

THE AVENGERS - New Trailer Coming Next Week

0
0

It looks like we are going to see a new trailer for The Avengers next week! I wasn't sure that we would see another trailer after the incredible Super Bowl spot that just blew my mind. The news comes from the offcial German Avengers Facebook page, and here's a really rough translation of what it says,

BAAAM! In a week it's finally back so far: A brand new trailer from Marvel's the Avengers will be published next Wednesday at 6 pm. Who do you see more in this trailer?

I imagine this trailer will end up being a international trailer, but who knows? it might not be. We'll find out next week what kind of trailer Marvel will be unleashing, but I wouldn't mind seeing another badass trailer for the Joss Whedon directed film. What would you like to see more of in a new trailer?

BATTLESHIP - New International Poster Featuring Taylor Kitsch

0
0

It looks like Taylor Kitsch is going to have a great year. He went from a little football drama on TV to being cast in the lead roles of two huge Hollywood tentpole films, Disney's John Carter and Universal's Battleship. It will be interesting to see how successful these movies turn out to be, as if they're successful, Kitsch is most likely going to be the next big action star.

Here's a new international poster for Battleship featuring Kitsch front and center looking like he's ready to kick some alien ass. Would you like to see Kitsch blow up into an A-list action star? Better him than Taylor Lautner.

Here's the synopsis:

Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

The film hits theaters in May.

Pixar's BRAVE Gets a New Poster

Disney has released this new poster for Pixar's upcoming CGI Scottish fantasy adventure film Brave. This movie looks awesomely entertaining. I love how the film has a different and darker tone than any of the previous Pixar films, and at the same time it still carries the classic Pixar humor. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, or want to watch it again check it out below!

The movie is set to be released on June 22nd 2012, and stars Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters.

Here's the synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In "Brave," a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

BLEACH Manga/Anime To Get Live-Action Feature Film Adaptation

Warner Bros. is planning to adapt Tite Kubo's manga series Bleach into a live-action feature film. I've never read the Manga, but I've enjoyed watching the anime series. That show is crazy entertaining, if you haven't seen it yet, you should check it out!

The studio has hired Wrath of the Titans screenwriter Dan Mazeau to write the film and Peter Segal is producing it. He might end up directing it as well. I've got to say that's a pretty odd choice, the guy has only made a bunch of mediocre comedy films, such as Get Smart, Tommy Boy, 50 First Dates, and Nutty Professor 2... ugh.

I also think it's strange Warner Bros. is the studio that wants to make this film. They are the same studio that can't seem to get the live-action Akira movie off the ground, and slashed they budget of that film to about half of what it should be. Warner Bros. is a great studio that has brought us a ton of amazing films, but for some reason they have issues with these anime manga properties.

For those of you not familiar with Bleach, the story "follows the adventures of Ichigo, a teenager with the ability to see ghosts. When his family is attacked by a Hollow -- a malevolent lost soul -- Ichigo inadvertently absorbs the power to hunt Hollows. He then dedicates his life to protecting the innocent and helping tortured souls find peace."

It really is a great story, and like I said I've really enjoyed watching the series. I think it has potential to make a great movie franchise if it's done right! If it's not, it will fail. I don't think Segal has got what it takes to properly adapt the film, but here's what he had to say in a statement:

I've always been a huge fan of 'Bleach' and have great respect for its creator Kubo Sensei and the truly original and amazing world he has created in this manga.

Segal may be a fan of the manga, but just because he's a fan doesn't mean he's the right director for it. As of right now, he's not officially attached to direct the film so I guess there's no need to worry about it yet. That being said, who do you think would be the perfect director to take on this live-action adaptation?
