Here's the first trailer and clip for Samuel L. Jackson's latest film project, Kite, which is a live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime that was written and directed by Yasuomi Umetsu.

The story follows a young orphaned schoolgirl named Sawa "living in a failed state, post-financial collapse, where the corrupt security force profits on the trafficking of young women. When her father, a cop, is slain by someone dirty inside the force, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of her father’s ex-partner."

The action thriller was directed be Ralph Ziman, and also stars India Eisley, Callan McAuliffe, Cleo Rinkwest, Russel Savadier, Keci Eatock, Matthew Van Leeve, and Jaco Muller

There's an introduction by Jackson, and the movie looks like it could end up being entertaining, but we'll see. I also included a YouTube embed of just the trailer.

JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT - Character Posters for Pine and Branagh

Chris Pine and Kenneth Branagh are the latest stars to have character posters released for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and I imagine they will be the last. The movie is set to be released on January 17th, 2014, and I'm really hoping that the movie turns out to be great! I've enjoyed most of the Jack Ryan films, especially Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. I doubt the movie will be as good as those, but it looks like it will at least provide some thrilling, action-packed entertainment.

Spider-Man Villain Fan Art - Rhino Rampage

Check out this incredibly cool piece of Spider-Man villain fan-art featuring Rhino plowing through a wall. As excited as I am for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I wish they would have gone with something like this instead of the big mech robot thing they developed. The art was done by John Gallagher, and it turned out awesome!

Superman Character Poster for THE LEGO MOVIE

Superman gets his own poster for Warner Bros. CG animated The LEGO Movie! We haven't seen much of this character in the movie trailers. It makes me think he won't have a big role in the story. The character is appropriately voiced by Channing Tatum.

The movie was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who also made 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It also stars Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, Morgan Freeman, Charlie Day, and Alison Brie.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

The movie will be released on February 7th, 2014!

Hilarious and Heartwarming Short Film STRUCK

Check out this somewhat sad but mostly hilarious short called "Struck." It follows a man who is randomly struck through the chest with an arrow and must adjust his life because of it. The ending isn't that hard to guess, and you can probably imagine before even watching why he gets hit with the arrow, but this short wasn't about that. The ride and fun in between was the highlight of this film in my opinion!

Just so you know, this short was released back in 2007, but we never posted it. GeekTyrant didn't exist in 2007, and we came across just recently, so if you haven't seen it either, then enjoy!

ANT-MAN Plot Teased by Director Edgar Wright

Earlier this morning Ant-Man director Edgar Wright posted the above picture on his blog with a little caption that simply said, "Homework."

The image comes from the now cancelled Marvel animated series Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The episode it comes from is "To Steal an Ant-Man," and the story features Scott Lang steeling Hank Pym's Ant-Man gear and using it to be a criminal. So Pym hires heroes for hire to get it back.

From a previous interview a few years ago we know that Wright was looking to involve both Hank Pym and Scott Lang into the story. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has also called Ant-Man a heist film, so it looks like this is a big hint of the direction they are taking the story!

The movie is set to be released on July 31st, 2015!

Steven Spielberg to Direct Javier Bardem in MONTEZUMA?

As of right now we still don't know what Steven Spielberg is going to do for his next directing project, but it looks like he's lining up another possibility. According to Deadline, he is looking to take on a film called Montezuma, which will tell "an epic tale of the kinship and ultimately the bloody collision between Montezuma and Cortez as the latter led the Spanish infiltration into Mexico."

The site goes on to say that Javier Bardem is up for the role of the Spanish explorer Hernando Cortez. Apparently the film was inspired by a 50-year old script written by Dalton Trumbo, which is being rewritten by Steve Zaillian, who also worked with Spielberg on Schindler’s List.

Word is the project could be retitled Cortez, because the viewpoint will be from the character to be played by Bardem. The site also points out that the project is "considered one of the great unmade scripts in moviedom, [and] has an illustrious history." It was written for actor/producer Kirk Douglas. Trumbo worked with Douglas on classics such as Spartacus and Lonely Are the Brave. The original 1965 draft was supposed to be directed by  Martin Ritt and star Douglas, but it obviously never happened.

This seems like it would make a great project for Spielberg! I'd love to see him take it on. There's no word on if it will be his next project, or if it will happen later on down the road. He was recently attached to direct Robopocalypse and American Sniper, but he's not making either of those now. Maybe one day he'll get around to Robopocalypse, but I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

Netflix has released a new promo trailer and poster for the second season of House of Cards. This is such a great series, and I'm excited for its return!

In the second season, Francis (Kevin Spacey) and Claire (Robin Wright) Underwood continue their ruthless rise to power as threats mount on all fronts. Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara), an up-and-coming reporter and Francis's former paramour, is inching closer to the truth about his crimes. President Walker's (Michel Gill) billionaire confidante Raymond Tusk (Gerald McRaney) demands that Francis reciprocate political favors or face retribution. And Claire must confront the increasing glare of the spotlight as it eats away at her and Francis's once private existence. The Underwoods must overcome these dangers -- past and present -- to avoid losing everything, regardless of collateral damage they leave in their wake.

The 13-episode second season is set to premiere on Friday, February 14th. It comes from David Fincher, Kevin Spacey, and Beau Manson

Japanese Animator Trashes English Dub of SPACE DANDY on Twitter

You remember Space Dandy right? This show is Cartoon Network's big leap into the anime world. The high profile series in development is being run by the same team responsible for the massive hit Cowboy Bebop, and on Saturday it simultaneously premiered overseas and here in two different languages. Of course, as with any Japanese to English translation, there will always be some words that simply won't work, or culturally won't make sense to a Western audience. Usually these differences are dissected and criticized on message boards and threads, but it would appear there is some dissension among the ranks when a Japanese animator took to Twitter.

The tweets are now deleted, and there was no explanation as to what these changes may have been. For what it's worth, I thought the first episode was great and gave me the same feeling as watching Cowboy Bebop...with more color. For those who may have missed the first episode, check out this ten minute English subtitled segment leaked to the web last week.

Katee Sackhoff Wants STAR WARS and Harley Quinn Roles

In a recent interview with Total FilmBattlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff talks about how much she would like to play Harley Quinn in a new Batman film, saying, "I think I might give away my firstborn to have an opportunity to play Harley Quinn." She would be awesome in the role, and if they ever bring Quinn to life on the big screen, I hope she gets the part!

She also goes on to talk about Star Wars, what it means to her, and wanting to get involved with the new films being developed,

"Star Wars meant everything to me growing up. Star Wars was, I mean, it was the first time I remember seeing three movies that all kind of went together. It was just an amazing final understanding of what a trilogy was...I was absolutely obsessed, I mean I wanted to be... The sad thing is, I never wanted to be Princess Leia, I always wanted to be Han Solo! [laughs] I've never really been drawn to these female roles, but I think that The Clone Wars was so much fun for me to play, I mean a warrior....If J.J. would listen, I would play a rock in the Star Wars movies. I think that they're fantastic, I think that he's a great choice, and I'm excited to see what happens in that world."

I think she would fit in the world of Star Wars just fine. Sackhoff also talks about wanting to play Wonder Woman, and what it was like for her auditioning for the TV series,

"I'd love to play Wonder Woman. I remember auditioning for the Wonder Woman television show and being told that I wasn't the Wonder Woman type, but if I wanted to play the best friend, I could audition for that. And I remember thinking to myself, 'You obviously haven't seen my work!"

They must not have seen her work! As you all know the role of Wonder Woman has been filled by Gal Gadot in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, and it doesn't look like Sackhoff will ever get the chance. But who knows what will happen with Harley Quinn or Star Wars? Either one of those would be great if it happened.

In another attempt to try to sell you on The Legend of Hercules, Summit Entertainment has released a final trailer and featurette from Spin Media. The featurette includes the star of the movie Kellan Lutz talking about Goldilocks hair, makeup, and scars.

The movie was directed by Die Hard 2 director Renny Harlin, and unfortunately I'm still not really all that excited about seeing the movie. It's set to hit theaters on January 10th. I'm curious to know if any of you think this movie looks good.

Here's something that's insanely cool, but will likely never reach the market. GreekGadgetGuru created an awesome, fully functional stun glove as seen in Iron Man 3! This glove has an electrical charge that would ward off any enemy trying to attack, and possibly kill you if you were to accidentally scratch your nose. The video of the glove is a lot cooler than my explanation.

JUPITER ASCENDING - New Photo of Channing Tatum

Warner Bros. has released a new photo from The Wachowskis’ new sci-fi adventure film, Jupiter Ascending. The pic features Channing Tatum in the lead role of Caine. I'm hoping this movie will be good, but I have to say that it looks kind of ridiculous. I'm still not used to Tatum's elfy kind of look in the film.

Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

The movie is set to be released on July 25th, 2014. To watch the trailer for the movie again, click here.

We've got a funny LEGO animated comedy short called "The Truth About Ewoks." What is the truth about Ewoks? Well, if you didn't notice, at the end of Return of the Jedi they ate the meat of their enemies in their big victory celebration. The video was directed and animated by Kevin Ulrich, who says,

My friends and I thought up this joke when we realized that Ewoks actually do eat humans. I mean, after catching Han Solo and the others, their first impulse was "EAT THEM!!!" Thankfully C-3PO saved the day. The poor stormtroopers were not so fortunate.

Also known as AGDQ, it is a live streaming event where players complete games as quickly as possible (called a speed run) in the name of charity. We've got an beautifully animated imaginative Japanese short film called "Abita" to show you today. The story centers on the Fukushima children of Japan, "who can't play outside because of the radioactivity. About their dreams and realities." It's kind of a heart-breaking subject matter, with what these people have to go through, but the short is done in a very poetic way, and I think you'll like it.

Halo is one of my favorite video game franchises of all time, and I'm eagerly awaiting the fifth installment. Luckily I won't have to wait much longer! A public relations manager for Microsoft, Rob Semsey, promised the return of Master Chief on Twitter, saying,

"Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014. #staycalm"

Now I have to finally go out and buy my Xbox One so I can actually play Halo 5! Some of the other games being released this year include Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Project Spark, Sunset Overdrive, Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Destiny, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and The Elder Scrolls Online.

Just to remind you of the awesomeness that is coming, here's the trailer!

Possible Plot Details on Wonder Woman's Role in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

possible-plot-details-on-wonder-womans-role-in-batman-vs-suprman.jpg

A very interesting rumor has recently surfaced regarding Wonder Wonder's role in Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman. If this turns out to be true, it's a very cool little addition to the DC cinematic universe that is being created. The news comes from Batman-on-Film.com, and if you don't want to know, then I suggest you don't read ahead.

Batman-on-Film has a decent track record when it comes to movie news, and here's what they say...

Personally, I'd say it'll be about on par with Scarlett Johansson's first appearance as Black Widow in IRON MAN 2. I believe that it's a cameo-plus type of role that will (hopefully) serve as a springboard to a solo Wonder Woman movie.

With all that said, I'd bet a year's pay – in MONOPOLY money, of course – that the "Amazons" of this cinematic DCU will be descendants of those "ancient Kryptonians" who attempted to set up Kryptonian outposts throughout spacedom thousands and thousands of years ago.

For those of you not sure what exactly they are saying there, they are basically saying that Wonder Woman is going to be a Kryptonian. If this is true, it drastically re-writes the origin story of Wonder Woman, which is both kind of cool and a little weird, especially for the die hard fans. It locks out all of the mythological aspects of the DC universe, and I'm not sure how to feel about that. The site goes on to explain the superpower aspect of Wonder Woman and the Amazonians,

Furthermore, I say that Wonder Woman will be powered-down, if you will, relative to Superman because these Amazons have evolved and adapted to living on Earth for hundreds of centuries. And since Kryptonians are produced without any "He'n and She'n" – Jor El and Lara excluded – couldn't this original Kryptonian on Earth have used this reproductive science to create an all-female race? I say yes!

This is definitely an interesting idea and concept. If this is what they go with, I hope they can pull it off in a way that won't piss off the fans. My biggest issue with the change is losing that mythological aspect of the DC universe–that means no Greek gods or ancient monsters… bummer. In the end I really hope they don't change things drastically, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
